RESUMO

Metal oxide semiconductor (MOS)-based complementary thin-film transistor (TFT) circuits have broad application prospects in large-scale flexible electronics. To simplify circuit design and increase integration density, basic complementary circuits require both p- and n-channel transistors based on an individual semiconductor. However, until now, no MOSs that can simultaneously show p- and n-type conduction behavior have been reported. Herein, we demonstrate for the first time that Cu-doped SnO (Cu:SnO) with HfO2 capping can be employed for high-performance p- and n-channel TFTs. The interstitial Cu+ can induce an n-doping effect while restraining electron-electron scatterings by removing conduction band minimum degeneracy. As a result, the Cu3 atom %:SnO TFTs exhibit a record high electron mobility of 43.8 cm2 V-1 s-1. Meanwhile, the p-channel devices show an ultrahigh hole mobility of 2.4 cm2 V-1 s-1. Flexible complementary logics are then established, including an inverter, NAND gates, and NOR gates. Impressively, the inverter exhibits an ultrahigh gain of 302.4 and excellent operational stability and bending reliability.

Self-driven photodetectors, which can detect optical signals without external voltage bias, are highly attractive in the field of low-power wearable electronics and internet of things. However, currently reported self-driven photodetectors based on van der Waals heterojunctions (vdWHs) are generally limited by low responsivity due to poor light absorption and insufficient photogain. Here, we report p-Te/n-CdSe vdWHs utilizing non-layered CdSe nanobelts as efficient light absorption layer and high mobility Te as ultrafast hole transporting layer. Benefiting from strong interlayer coupling, the Te/CdSe vdWHs exhibit stable and excellent self-powered characteristics, including ultrahigh responsivity of 0.94 A W-1, remarkable detectivity of 8.36 × 1012 Jones at optical power density of 1.18 mW cm-2 under illumination of 405 nm laser, fast response speed of 24 µs, large light on/off ratio exceeding 105, as well as broadband photoresponse (405-1064 nm), which surpass most of the reported vdWHs photodetectors. In addition, the devices display superior photovoltaic characteristics under 532 nm illumination, such as large Voc of 0.55 V, and ultrahigh Isc of 2.73 µA. These results demonstrate the construction of 2D/non-layered semiconductor vdWHs with strong interlayer coupling is a promising strategy for high-performance and low-power consumption devices.

The emerging Ruddlesden-Popper two-dimensional perovskite (2D PVK) has recently joined the family of 2D semiconductors as a potential competitor for building van der Waals (vdW) heterostructures in future optoelectronics. However, to date, most of the reported heterostructures based on 2D PVKs suffer from poor spectral response that is caused by intrinsic wide bandgap of constituting materials. Herein, a direct heterointerface bandgap (∼0.4 eV) between 2D PVK and ReS2 is demonstrated. The strong interlayer coupling reduces the energy interval at the heterojunction region so that the heterostructure shows high sensitivity with the spectral response expanding to 2000 nm. The large type-II band offsets exceeding 1.1 eV ensure fast photogenerated carriers separation at the heterointerface. When this heterostructure is used as a self-driven photodetector, it exhibits a record high detectivity up to 1.8 × 1014 Jones, surpassing any reported 2D self-driven devices, and an impressive external quantum efficiency of 68%.

Intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD) is the main cause of low back pain. Notoginsenoside R1 (NR1) is widely applied in the treatment of bone disorders, including IVDD. The present study aimed to investigate the effects of NR1 on the development of IVDD and the potential mechanisms. AF puncture was performed to establish IVDD rat model. Histology changes were analyzed by hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining. mRNA expressions were determined using qRT-PCR. Protein expressions were detected with western blot. Cellular functions were detected by MTT, EdU, flow cytometry, and TUNEL assays. The results showed that NR1 suppressed AF puncture induced IVDD, restored intervertebral disc (IVD) function, and suppressed mechanical hyperalgesia and thermal hyperalgesia. Moreover, NR1 promoted the release of extracellular matrix (ECM) in vivo and in vitro, and decreased the mRNA expressions of proinflammation cytokines. Additionally, NR1 inactivated NF-κB/NLRP3 pathways, improved cellular functions of nucleus pulposus cells (NPCs), and suppressed cell pyroptosis, which was reversed by NLRP3 activation. Taken together, NR1 may protect against IVDD via suppressing NF-κB/NLRP3 pathways. This may provide a novel therapy for IVDD.

The inexpensive hypolipidemic drug simvastatin (SIM), which promotes bone regeneration by enhancing bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP-2) expression, has been regarded as an ideal alternative to BMP-2 therapy. However, SIM has low bioavailability and may induce the upregulation of the BMP-2-antagonistic noggin protein, which greatly limits the osteogenic effect. Here, a pH-sensitive copolymer, monomethoxy-poly(ethylene glycol)- b-branched polyethyleneimine- b-poly( N-( N', N'-diisopropylaminoethyl)- co-benzylamino)aspartamide (mPEG-bPEI-PAsp(DIP-BzA)) (PBP), was synthesized and self-assembled into a cationic micelle. SIM and siRNA targeting the noggin gene (N-siRNA) were loaded into the PAsp(DIP-BzA) core and the cationic bPEI interlayer of the micelle via hydrophobic and electrostatic interactions, respectively. The SIM-loaded micelle effectively delivered SIM into preosteoblast MC3T3-E1 cells and rapidly released it inside the acidic lysosome, resulting in the elevated expression of BMP-2. Meanwhile, the codelivered N-siRNA effectively suppressed the expression of noggin. Consequently, SIM and N-siRNA synergistically increased the BMP-2/noggin ratio and resulted in an obviously higher osteogenetic effect than did simvastatin or N-siRNA alone, both in vitro and in vivo.

The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of ketogenic metabolism, induced by different diet interventions, on histone acetylation and its potential antioxidant capacity to injured spinal cord tissue in rats. 72 male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into 4 groups, fed with ketogenic diet (KD), every other day fasting (EODF), every other day ketogenic diet (EODKD) and standard diet (SD) respectively for 2 weeks. ß-Hydroxybutyrate (ßOHB) concentration was measured both in serum and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). C5 spinal cord tissue was harvested before, at 3 h and 24 h after injury for analysis of HDAC activity, histone acetylation and oxidative makers. All three dietary interventions resulted in a significant increase of ßOHB level in both serum and CSF, and inhibited HDAC activity by 31-43% in spinal cord. Moreover, the expressions of acetylated histone AcH3K9 and AcH3K14 were significantly increased. Anti-oxidative stress genes Foxo3a and Mt2 and related proteins, such as mitochondrial superoxide dismutase (SOD), FOXO3a, catalase were increased in dietary intervention groups. After SCI, high ketogenic metabolism demonstrated significant reduction of the expression of lipid peroxidation factors malondialdehyde (MDA), and this might contribute to the reported neuroprotection of the spinal cord from oxidative damage possibly mediated by increasing SOD. The result of this study suggested that by inhibiting HDAC activity and modifying related gene transcription, ketogenic metabolism, induced by KD, EODF or EODKD, might reduce oxidative damage in the spinal cord tissue after acute injury.

This study is aimed at definition of the safe and dangerous zone for screw placement with Stoppa approach for rapid identification during operation and a new way for the studies on the "safe zone." Pelvic CT data of 84 human subjects were recruited to reconstruct the three-dimensional (3D) models. The distances between the edges of the "safe zone," "dangerous zone," and specific anatomic landmarks such as the obturator canal and the pelvic brim were precisely measured, respectively. The results show that the absolute "dangerous zone" was from the pelvic brim to 3.07 cm below it and within 2.86 cm of the obturator canal, while the region 3.56 cm below the pelvic brim or 3.85 cm away from the obturator canal was the absolute "safe zone" for screw placement. The region between the absolute "safe zone" and the absolute "dangerous zone" was the relatively "dangerous zone." As a conclusion, application of computer-assisted 3D modeling techniques aids in the precise measurement of "safe zone" and "dangerous zone" in combination with Stoppa incision. It was not recommended to place screws on the absolute dangerous zone, while, for the relatively "dangerous zone," it depends on the individual variations in bony anatomy and the fracture type.
