BACKGROUND: The rising number of women giving birth at advanced maternal age has posed significant challenges in obstetric care in recent years, resulting in increased incidence of neonatal transfer to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Therefore, identifying fetuses requiring NICU transfer before delivery is essential for guiding targeted preventive measures. OBJECTIVE: This study aims to construct and validate a nomogram for predicting the prenatal risk of NICU admission in neonates born to mothers over 35 years of age. STUDY DESIGN: Clinical data of 4218 mothers aged ≥ 35 years who gave birth at the Department of Obstetrics of the Second Hospital of Shandong University between January 1, 2017 and December 31, 2021 were reviewed. Independent predictors were identified by multivariable logistic regression, and a predictive nomogram was subsequently constructed for the risk of neonatal NICU admission. RESULTS: Multivariate logistic regression demonstrated that the method of prenatal screening, number of implanted embryos, preterm premature rupture of the membranes, preeclampsia, HELLP syndrome, fetal distress, premature birth, and cause of preterm birth are independent predictors of neonatal NICU admission. Analysis of the nomogram decision curve based on these 8 independent predictors showed that the prediction model has good net benefit and clinical utility. CONCLUSION: The nomogram demonstrates favorable performance in predicting the risk of neonatal NICU transfer after delivery by mothers older than 35 years. The model serves as an accurate and effective tool for clinicians to predict NICU admission in a timely manner.

Although hyperhomocysteinemia (hHcys) has been recognized as an important independent risk factor in the progression of end-stage renal disease and the development of cardiovascular complications related to end-stage renal disease, the mechanisms triggering pathogenic actions of hHcys are not fully understood. The present study was mainly designed to investigate the role of HDACs in renal injury induced by hHcys. Firstly, we identified the expression patterns of HDACs and found that, among zinc-dependent HDACs, HDAC9 was preferentially upregulated in the kidney from mice with hHcys. Deficiency or pharmacological inhibition of HDAC9 ameliorated renal injury in mice with hHcys. Moreover, podocyte-specific deletion of HDAC9 significantly attenuated podocyte injury and proteinuria. In vitro, gene silencing of HDAC9 attenuated podocyte injury by inhibiting apoptosis, reducing oxidative stress and maintaining the expressions of podocyte slit diaphragm proteins. Mechanically, we proved for the first time that HDAC9 reduced the acetylation level of H3K9 in the promoter of Klotho, then inhibited gene transcription of Klotho, finally aggravating podocyte injury in hHcys. In conclusion, our results indicated that targeting of HDAC9 might be an attractive therapeutic strategy for the treatment of renal injury induced by hHcys.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Effects of elevated CO2 (E) within a generation on photosynthesis and stomatal features have been well documented in crops; however, long-term responses to gradually elevated CO2 (Eg) and abruptly elevated CO2 (Ea) over multiple generations remain scarce. METHODS: Japonica rice plants grown in open-top chambers were tested in the first generation (F1) under Ea and in the fifth generation (F5) under Eg and Ea, as follows: Ea in F1: ambient CO2 (A) + 200 µmol mol-1; Eg in F5: an increase of A + 40 µmol mol-1 year-1 until A + 200 µmol mol-1 from 2016 to 2020; Ea in F5: A + 200 µmol mol-1 from 2016 to 2020. For multigenerational tests, the harvested seeds were grown continuously in the following year in the respective CO2 environments. KEY RESULTS: The responses to Ea in F1 were consistent with the previous consensus, such as the occurrence of photosynthetic acclimation, stimulation of photosynthesis, and downregulation of photosynthetic physiological parameters and stomatal area. In contrast, multigenerational exposure to both Eg and Ea did not induce photosynthetic acclimation, but stimulated greater photosynthesis and had little effect on the photosynthetic physiology and stomatal traits. This suggests that E retained intergenerational effects on photosynthesis and stomatal features and that there were no multigenerational differences in the effects of Eg and Ea. CONCLUSIONS: The present study demonstrated that projecting future changes induced by E based on the physiological responses of contemporary plants could be misleading. Thus, responses of plants to large and rapid environmental changes within a generation cannot predict the long-term response of plants to natural environmental changes over multiple generations, especially in annual herbs with short life cycles.

ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters are one of the largest families of membrane proteins in prokaryotic organisms. Much is now understood about the structure of these transporters and many reviews have been written on that subject. In contrast, less has been written on the assembly of ABC transporter complexes and this will be a major focus of this book chapter. The complexes are formed from two cytoplasmic subunits that are highly conserved (in terms of their primary and three-dimensional structures) across the whole family. These ATP-binding subunits give rise to the name of the family. They must assemble with two transmembrane subunits that will typically form the permease component of the transporter. The transmembrane subunits have been found to be surprisingly diverse in structure when the whole family is examined, with seven distinct folds identified so far. Hence nucleotide-binding subunits appear to have been bolted on to a variety of transmembrane platforms during evolution, leading to a greater variety in function. Furthermore, many importers within the family utilise a further external substrate-binding component to trap scarce substrates and deliver them to the correct permease components. In this chapter, we will discuss whether assembly of the various ABC transporter subunits occurs with high fidelity within the crowded cellular environment and whether promiscuity in assembly of transmembrane and cytoplasmic components can occur. We also discuss the new AlphaFold protein structure prediction tool which predicts a new type of transmembrane domain fold within the ABC transporters that is associated with cation exporters of bacteria and plants.

OBJECTIVES: Metformin is an antidiabetic agent that is used as the first-line treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Gallic acid is a type of phenolic acid that has been shown to be a potential drug candidate to treat diabetic kidney disease, an important complication of diabetes. We aimed to test whether a combination of gallic acid and metformin can exert synergetic effect on diabetic kidney disease in diabetic mice model. METHODS: Streptozotocin (65 mg/kg) intraperitoneal injection was used to induce diabetic kidney disease in mice. The diabetic mice were treated with saline (Vehicle), gallic acid (GA) (30 mg/kg), metformin (MET) (200 mg/kg), or the combination of gallic acid (30 mg/kg) and metformin (200 mg/kg) (GA + MET). RESULTS: Our results demonstrated that compared to the untreated diabetic mice, all three strategies (GA, MET, and GA + MET) exhibited various effects on improving renal morphology and functions, reducing oxidative stress in kidney tissues, and restoring AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK)/silent mating type information regulation 2 homolog 1 (SIRT1) signaling in kidney tissues of diabetic mice. Notably, the combination strategy (GA + MET) provided the most potent renal protection effects than any single strategies (GA or MET). CONCLUSION: Our results support the hypothesis that gallic acid might serve as a potential supplement to metformin to enhance the therapeutical effect of metformin.

Heterostructured materials show great potential to enhance the specific capacity, rate performance and cycling lifespan of lithium-ion batteries owing to their unique interfaces, robust architectures, and synergistic effects. Herein, a polypyrrole (PPy)-coated nanotube-like Mo3S4/CoMo2S4 heterostructure is prepared by the hydrothermal and subsequent in situ polymerization methods. The well-designed nanotube-like structure is beneficial to relieve the serious volume changes and facilitate the infiltration of electrolytes during the charge/discharge process. The Mo3S4/CoMo2S4 heterostructure could effectively enhance the electrical conductivity and Li+ transport kinetics owing to the refined energy band structure and the internal electric field at the heterostructure interface. Moreover, the conductive PPy-coated layer could inhibit the obvious volume expansion like a firm armor and further avoid the pulverization of the active material and aggregation of generated products. Benefiting from the synergistic effects of the well-designed heterostructure and PPy-coated nanotube-like architecture, the prepared Mo3S4/CoMo2S4 heterostructure delivers high reversible capacity (1251.3 mAh g-1 at 300 mA g-1), superior rate performance (340.3 mAh g-1 at 5.0 A g-1) and excellent cycling lifespan (744.1 mAh g-1 after 600 cycles at a current density of 2.0 A g-1). Such a design concept provides a promising strategy towards heterostructure materials to enhance their lithium storage performances and boost their practical applications.

Kawasaki disease (KD), also known as mucocutaneous lymph node syndrome, is a systemic acute vasculitis belonging to autoimmune disease. Up to now, the specific pathogenesis of this disease remains unclear, and it may involve various factors such as immune response, inflammatory response, and vascular endothelial injury caused by the activation of the nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) signaling pathway. In particular, children with KD and cardiac injury tend to have a poor prognosis, and researchers hope to explore the specific pathogenesis of cardiac injury in KD to provide new options for clinical diagnosis and treatment and reduce the incidence rate of this disorder. This article reviews the recent research on the role of the NF-κB signaling pathway in cardiac injury in children with KD, so as to provide a basis for future studies.

Advanced manufacturing technologies, led by additive manufacturing, have undergone significant growth in recent years. These technologies enable engineers to design parts with reduced weight while maintaining structural and functional integrity. In particular, metal additive manufacturing parts are increasingly used in application areas such as aerospace, where a failure of a mission-critical part can have dire safety consequences. Therefore, the quality of these components is extremely important. A critical aspect of quality control is dimensional evaluation, where measurements provide quantitative results that are traceable to the standard unit of length, the metre. Dimensional measurements allow designers, manufacturers and users to check product conformity against engineering drawings and enable the same quality standard to be used across the supply chain nationally and internationally. However, there is a lack of development of measurement techniques that provide non-destructive dimensional measurements beyond common non-destructive evaluation focused on defect detection. X-ray computed tomography (XCT) technology has great potential to be used as a non-destructive dimensional evaluation technology. However, technology development is behind the demand and growth for advanced manufactured parts. Both the size and the value of advanced manufactured parts have grown significantly in recent years, leading to new requirements of dimensional measurement technologies. This paper is a cross-disciplinary review of state-of-the-art non-destructive dimensional measuring techniques relevant to advanced manufacturing of metallic parts at larger length scales, especially the use of high energy XCT with source energy of greater than 400 kV to address the need in measuring large advanced manufactured parts. Technologies considered as potential high energy x-ray generators include both conventional x-ray tubes, linear accelerators, and alternative technologies such as inverse Compton scattering sources, synchrotron sources and laser-driven plasma sources. Their technology advances and challenges are elaborated on. The paper also outlines the development of XCT for dimensional metrology and future needs.

Fibroblast growth factor 5 (FGF5), which is a well-established causative factor for blood pressure, has been identified as a susceptibility gene for preeclampsia (PE) in European and Central Asian women. Here, we examined whether polymorphism rs16998073 in FGF5 confer a significant risk to PE in Chinese Han population by case-control association analysis. FGF5 rs16998073 was genotyped by Sanger sequencing in women with preeclampsia (n = 187) and healthy controls (n = 229) of Han Chinese. We found the frequency of rs16998073T allele was significantly higher in PE patients than that in controls. Next, we utilized dual-luciferase reporter assays and electrophoretic mobility shift assay (EMSA) reactions to investigate whether rs16998073 different alleles could affect the transcriptional activity of FGF5. The dual luciferase reporter assay showed that T allele increased the transcriptional efficiency by 1.5-fold compared with the G allele. Similarly, EMSA revealed that the T allele had a strong transcription factor binding strength compared with the G allele. We then examined the mRNA and protein expression levels of FGF5 in placental tissues by real-time PCR and Western blot assays. We found FGF5 were significantly upregulated in placental tissues from PE patients or PE mouse model than their corresponding controls. In addition, in vitro cell experiments confirmed that FGF5 could promote cell apoptosis of HTR8/SVneo and inhibit cell invasion. Taken together, our data provide evidence implicating rs16998073 of FGF5 as a functional genetic risk variant for PE disease and FGF5 might participate in development of PE disease.

The rapidly-developed high-power mid-infrared 2-5 µm laser technology requires a compact, flexible low-loss glass fiber for power delivery or laser generation. With the broadest bandwidth of low-loss transmission window in mid-infrared region amongst all mid-infrared glass fibers, chalcogenide glass fiber is the best candidate covering the whole 2-5 µm range. Multi-hundred-watt high-power delivery for 5.4-µm CO laser was previously demonstrated in a multimode chalcogenide fiber with a 1-mm-diameter large core, at the cost of giving up one of the most desirable fiber advantages, the flexibility. Indeed, chalcogenide glass fibers with decent flexibility have never exhibited hundred-watt-level power transmitting capability in the 2-5 µm range. In this paper, we have experimentally demonstrated 100-watt-level power transmission in multimode As2S3 chalcogenide fibers, using a customized high-power 2-µm thulium doped silica fiber laser source. With effective forced cooling, the multimode As2S3 fiber with 200 µm core diameter can resist incident laser power of 120 W and deliver transmitted power of 63 W. Nano-sized scattering center related laser damage mechanism and the cylindrical heat transfer model have been proposed to explain the high-power damage process of chalcogenide glass fibers. The calculation is in good agreement with the experiments. It is promising to further enhance the transmitted power above 100 W in flexible chalcogenide glass large-core fibers.

We report an all-fiber triple-wavelength single-frequency distributed Bragg reflector (DBR) laser for 1-10 GHz microwave (MW) generation. The DBR cavity contains a non-polarization-maintaining Er fiber and a pair of fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) made using a femtosecond laser line-by-line (LbL) direct-writing method. Such a configuration combining a short cavity and radial asymmetry leads to frequency locking and phase controlling of multi-wavelength fiber lasers. A 1.59-µm triple-wavelength laser with high coherence, spectrum purity, and polarization purity has been demonstrated; 3-6 GHz triple-frequency MW was generated.

BACKGROUND: An increasing number of studies have demonstrated that CX3CL1 is involved in the development of tumors and may thus be considered a new potential therapeutic target for them. However, the function of CX3CL1 in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) remains poorly defined. METHODS: The pan-cancer expression pattern and prognostic value of CX3CL1 were evaluated in this study. Moreover, the relationship of CX3CL1 expression with the tumor microenvironment, especially the tumor immune microenvironment, was analyzed. Our analyses employed public repository data. Additionally, we generated stable CX3CL1-overexpressing 786-O cells to determine the role of CX3CL1 in vitro via cell viability and transwell assays. A xenograft tumor model was used to determine the role of CX3CL1 in vivo. The association between CX3CL1 and ferroptosis sensitivity of tumor cells was assessed using Ferrostatin-1. RESULTS: Our findings indicated the involvement of CX3CL1 in the occurrence and development of ccRCC by acting as a tumor suppressor. We also found that ccRCC patients with high CX3CL1 expression showed better clinical outcomes than those with low CX3CL1 expression. The findings of our epigenetic study suggested that the expression of CX3CL1 in ccRCC is correlated with its DNA methylation level. Furthermore, the CX3CL1 expression level was closely related to the infiltration level of CD8+ T cells into the tumor microenvironment (TME). CX3CL1 showed different predictive values in different immunotherapy cohorts. Finally, CX3CL1 overexpression inhibited tumor cell proliferation and metastasis and promoted tumor ferroptosis sensitivity in ccRCC. CONCLUSIONS: This study revealed the role of CX3CL1 as a tumor suppressor in ccRCC. Our findings indicated that CX3CL1 plays a crucial role in regulating the ccRCC TME and is a potential predictor of immunotherapy outcomes in ccRCC. We also found that CX3CL1 can promote ferroptosis sensitivity in ccRCC cells.

Wetlands are large sinks of carbon dioxide (CO2) and sources of methane (CH4). Both fluxes can be altered by wetland management (e.g., restoration), leading to changes in the climate system. Here, we use multiple models to assess CH4 emissions and CO2 sequestration from the wetlands in China and the impacts on climate under three climate scenarios and four wetland management scenarios with various levels of wetland restoration in the 21st century. We find that wetland restoration leads to increased CH4 emissions with a national total of 0.32-11.31 Tg yr-1. These emissions induce an additional radiative forcing of 0.0005-0.0075 W m-2 yr-1 and global annual mean air temperature rise of 0.0003-0.0053 °C yr-1, across all future climate and management scenarios. However, wetland restoration also resulted in net CO2 sequestration, leading to a combined net greenhouse gas sink in all climate management scenarios, except in the highest restoration level combined with the hottest climate scenario. The highest climate cooling was achieved under medium restoration, with the climate scenario consistent with the Paris agreement target of below 2 °C, with a cumulative global warming potential of -3.2 Pg CO2-eq (2020-2100). Wetland restoration in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau offers the greatest cooling effect.

Renal fibrosis is a chronic pathological process that seriously endangers human health. However, the current therapeutic options for this disease are extremely limited. Previous studies have shown that signaling factors such as JAK2/STAT3, Smad3, and Myd88 play a regulatory role in renal fibrosis, and ß-elemene is a plant-derived sesquiterpenoid organic compound that has been shown to have anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, and immunomodulatory effects. In the present study, the anti-fibrotic effect of ß-elemene was demonstrated by in vivo and in vitro experiments. It was shown that ß-elemene inhibited the synthesis of extracellular matrix-related proteins in unilateral ureteral obstruction mice, and TGF-ß stimulated rat interstitial fibroblast cells, including α-smooth muscle actin, vimentin, and connective tissue growth factor, etc. Further experiments showed that ß-elemene reduced the expression levels of the above-mentioned fibrosis-related proteins by blocking the phosphorylation of JAK2/STAT3, Smad3, and the expression or up-regulation of MyD88. Notably, knockdown of MyD88 attenuated the phosphorylation levels of STAT3 and Smad3 in TGF-ß stimulated NRK49F cell, which may be a novel molecular mechanism by which ß-elemene affects renal interstitial fibrosis. In conclusion, this study elucidated the anti-interstitial fibrosis effect of ß-elemene, which provides a new direction for future research and development of drugs related to chronic kidney disease.

OBJECTIVES: To establish a method to identify unknown sample based on the combined use of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), gas chromatography-quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (GC-QTOF-MS), ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-linear ion trap quadrupole-orbitrap mass spectrometry (UPLC-LTQ-Orbitrap MS) and 1H-nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H-NMR) technique. METHODS: The unknown sample was directly analyzed by FTIR. The unknown sample was dissolved in methanol solution containing internal standard SKF525A and the supernatant was detected by GC-QTOF-MS and UPLC-LTQ-Orbitrap MS. The unknown sample was dissolved in methanol-d4 solution for structural analysis of 1H-NMR. RESULTS: The characteristic absorption peaks of FTIR spectra obtained from unknown sample were 1 682 (C=O bond), 1 503, 1 488, 1 436, 1 363, 1 256, 1 092, 1 035, 935, 840 and 800 cm-1, the characteristic fragment ions (m/z) of GC-QTOF-MS were 86.096 4 (base peak), 58.065 1, 149.023 5, 121.028 6 and 65.038 6, the accurate mass [M+H]+ detected by UPLC-LTQ-Orbitrap MS was 236.127 7. The sample was identified as synthetic cathinone new psychoactive substance Eutylone by 1H-NMR. CONCLUSIONS: The method established in this study can be used for structural confirmation of Eutylone.

Smart cropland management practices can mitigate greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions while safeguarding food security. However, the integrated effects on net greenhouse gas budget (NGHGB) and grain yield from different management practices remain poorly defined and vary with environmental and application conditions. Here, we conducted a global meta-analysis on 347 observation sets of non-CO2 GHG (CH4 and N2 O) emissions and grain yield, and 412 observations of soil organic carbon sequestration rate (SOCSR). Our results show that for paddy rice, replacing synthetic nitrogen at the rate of 30%-59% with organic fertilizer significantly decreased net GHG emissions (NGHGB: -15.3 ± 3.4 [standard error], SOCSR: -15.8 ± 3.8, non-CO2 GHGs: 0.6 ± 0.1 in Mg CO2 eq ha-1  year-1 ) and improved rice yield (0.4 ± 0.1 in Mg ha-1  year-1 ). In contrast, intermittent irrigation significantly increased net GHG emissions by 11.2 ± 3.1 and decreased rice yield by 0.4 ± 0.1. The reduction in SOC sequestration by intermittent irrigation (15.5 ± 3.3), which was most severe (>20) in alkaline soils (pH > 7.5), completely offset the mitigation in CH4 emissions. Straw return for paddy rice also led to a net increase in GHG emissions (NGHGB: 4.8 ± 1.4) in silt-loam soils, where CH4 emissions (6.3 ± 1.3) were greatly stimulated. For upland cropping systems, mostly by enhancing SOC sequestration, straw return (NGHGB: -3.4 ± 0.8, yield: -0.5 ± 0.6) and no-tillage (NGHGB: -2.9 ± 0.7, yield: -0.1 ± 0.3) were more effective in warm climates. This study highlights the importance of carefully managing croplands to sequester SOC without sacrifice in yield while limiting CH4 emissions from rice paddies.

AIM: This study was aimed to investigate the role of TUG1 in LPS-stimulated hPDLCs and to evaluate the potential functions of TUG1 in the pathogenesis of periodontitis. METHODS: LPS-stimulated hPDLCs were established as the cell model. CCK-8 assay was performed to assess cell proliferation ability. Flow cytometry was performed to detect cell cycle distribution, and quantitative RT-PCR and Western blotting were conducted to measure gene expressions. ELISA kits were used to evaluate the production of inflammatory cytokines. The putative binding site between TUG1 and miR-498 was verified using luciferase reporter and RNA immunoprecipitation assays. RESULTS: TUG1 was downregulated upon LPS stimulation in hPDLCs. TUG1 overexpression promoted cell proliferation through regulating the cell cycle distribution, along with the decreased expression of p21 and increased expression of CDK2 and cyclin D1. Besides, TUG1 overexpression decreased the production of inflammatory cytokines. The effects were opposite upon TUG1 knockdown. TUG1 negatively regulated its target miR-498, and influenced the expression of RORA, the direct target of miR-498. Simultaneous TUG1 overexpression and miR-498 reversed the effect of TUG1 overexpression alone on alleviating LPS-induced cell injury and inhibition of Wnt/ß-catenin signaling, which was further changeover after co-overexpression with RORA. CONCLUSION: Therefore, TUG1 could protect against periodontitis via regulating miR-498/RORA mediated Wnt/ß-catenin signaling.

The long-term stressful utilization of forests and grasslands has led to ecosystem degradation and C loss. Since the late 1970s China has launched six key national ecological restoration projects to protect its environment and restore degraded ecosystems. Here, we conducted a large-scale field investigation and a literature survey of biomass and soil C in China's forest, shrubland, and grassland ecosystems across the regions where the six projects were implemented (∼16% of the country's land area). We investigated the changes in the C stocks of these ecosystems to evaluate the contributions of the projects to the country's C sink between 2001 and 2010. Over this decade, we estimated that the total annual C sink in the project region was 132 Tg C per y (1 Tg = 1012 g), over half of which (74 Tg C per y, 56%) was attributed to the implementation of the projects. Our results demonstrate that these restoration projects have substantially contributed to CO2 mitigation in China.

In this paper, a computer-aided training method for hyperparameter selection of limited data X-ray computed tomography (XCT) reconstruction was proposed. The proposed method employed the ant colony optimisation (ACO) approach to assist in hyperparameter selection for the adaptive-weighted projection-controlled steepest descent (AwPCSD) algorithm, which is a total-variation (TV) based regularisation algorithm. During the implementation, there was a colony of artificial ants that swarm through the AwPCSD algorithm. Each ant chose a set of hyperparameters required for its iterative CT reconstruction and the correlation coefficient (CC) score was given for reconstructed images compared to the reference image. A colony of ants in one generation left a pheromone through its chosen path representing a choice of hyperparameters. Higher score means stronger pheromones/probabilities to attract more ants in the next generations. At the end of the implementation, the hyperparameter configuration with the highest score was chosen as an optimal set of hyperparameters. In the experimental results section, the reconstruction using hyperparameters from the proposed method was compared with results from three other cases: the conjugate gradient least square (CGLS), the AwPCSD algorithm using the set of arbitrary hyperparameters and the cross-validation method.The experiments showed that the results from the proposed method were superior to those of the CGLS algorithm and the AwPCSD algorithm using the set of arbitrary hyperparameters. Although the results of the ACO algorithm were slightly inferior to those of the cross-validation method as measured by the quantitative metrics, the ACO algorithm was over 10 times faster than cross-Validation. The optimal set of hyperparameters from the proposed method was also robust against an increase of noise in the data and can be applicable to different imaging samples with similar context. The ACO approach in the proposed method was able to identify optimal values of hyperparameters for a dataset and, as a result, produced a good quality reconstructed image from limited number of projection data. The proposed method in this work successfully solves a problem of hyperparameters selection, which is a major challenge in an implementation of TV based reconstruction algorithms.

To obtain α-glucosidase inhibitory peptides from ginkgo seeds and use it to develop beverages, papain hydrolysis was used to hydrolyze and extract ginkgo seed peptides. Through ultrafiltration and semi-preparative high performance liquid chromatography, peptide fragments which were molecular weight of < 10 KDa with high α-glucosidase inhibition rate were separated and purified to prepare beverages. At the same time, the A1, A2, B1, and B2 peptide fragments purified by semi-preparative high performance liquid chromatography were analyzed for amino acid composition. All four peptide fragments have glutamate. Studies have shown that amino acids such as glutamate can promote postprandial insulin secretion and reduce glucose levels. The result indicates that the amino acid composition may be related to the inhibition rate of α-glucosidase. After orthogonal experiment design, analysis of variance and principal component analysis, when 5% xylitol and 0.3% citric acid were added, and the glycine content was 1.2%, the ginkgo polypeptides beverage had the best flavor.
