RESUMO

Clinical studies on therapeutic effectiveness of ITCL applied as 2-3% ointment, 2% cream and 2-3% lotion were carried out. The study material included 96 patients at the age of 9-80. Of this group, 19 patients were with herpes zoster, 16 with herpes simplex, 29 with eczema complicated by secondary bacterial infection, 30 with palm and foot pustulosis, 1 patient with actinic cheilitis and 1 with varicella. The results obtained have revealed that the preparation is particularly effective in the treatment of dermatoses induced by herpes zoster and herpes simplex virus.

RESUMO

With a view to determining the frequency of contact allergy in children, a group of 100 subjects 5 to 15 years of age with various dermatoses was examined. The study group included children with allergic dermatoses (atopic dermatitis, eczema, and others) as well as nonallergic skin diseases (alopecia areata, psoriasis, vitiligo). The frequency of contact allergy occurrence in the individual groups has been determined. Contact allergy occurred the most frequently in children with various forms of eczema (60 percent), the least frequently in those with nonallergic dermatoses (32 percent). Children with eczema most often displayed a polyvalent allergy. Most frequently, positive patch test reactions occurred with potassium dichromate (in 21 percent of children), with cobalt chloride (in 11 percent), and with neomycin sulfate (in 10 percent).

RESUMO

This work reports on the skin diseases which occur among the workers of the ceramic industry. The most frequently observed diseases were: dermatomycosis, eczema as a result of wear, and allergic diseases. Nickel, and also cobalt, turpentine, paraphenyldiamine and detergents were the main allergens. Mycotic infection was observed primarily among the workers using common bathrooms.

RESUMO

In the skin of healthy subjects linear deposits were found of fibronectin at the dermoepidermal junction and in the walls of blood vessels, and reticular deposits in the papillary and reticular layers of the skin. In the epidermis of 12 out of 51 patients with allergic contact dermatitis fibronectin deposits were found in relation to Langerhans cells and keratinocytes. This was not observed in the epidermis in healthy subjects. The authors suggest that fibronectin on the surface of Langerhans cells and keratinocytes may play a role in antigen presentation.

RESUMO

The alterations in the ultrastructural feature of Langerhans cells in patients with allergic contact eczema were characterized by significant increase in number of Birbeck granules accompanied by the increase in volume of smooth- and rough-surfaced endoplasmic reticulum. These changes may be regarded as a morphological expression of the increase of the synthetic and secretory activity of the Langerhans cells. In the epidermis the Langerhans cells associated with immediately adjacent precursor cells (the so called indeterminate cells), lymphoid cells and keratinocytes form the morphologically visible and probably functional units.

RESUMO

In patients with eczema nummulare patch tests with a panel of 18 allergens were done with positive result in 9 (18%) cases. In 6 cases multivalent allergy was found. Most frequently positive tests were obtained with potassium dichromate. The tests showed participation of contact allergy in the development of changes in a part of patients with eczema nummulare.
