RESUMO

The existence of pentaquarks with strangeness content zero and one are major discoveries of the latest years in hadron physics. Most of these states can be understood as hadronic molecules and were predicted prior to their discovery within a model based on unitarized meson-baryon amplitudes obtained from vector-meson exchange interactions. Contrary to earlier statements, we show this model to also predict the existence of pentaquarks with double strangeness, at about 4500 and 4600 MeV, which are generated in a very specific and unique mechanism, via an attraction induced by a strong coupling between the two heaviest meson-baryon states.

RESUMO

The observation belongs to a 22 year-old man, who presented a lesion in the index finger of the right hand, with a nodular induration, which later turned into an ulcer and was cured in a month and a half. In the beginning it was painless, becoming painful after the third week. He was given a treatment of a simple topical application. The histopathologic study showed the existence of an inflammatory chronic process with epidermic alterations characterised by the presence of necrosis and vesicles (reticular degeneration). There was also a significant presence of mural necrosis of vessels of the papillar dermis and subpapillar plexus, with recent partial mural thrombosis, that authors consider of importance in the pathogenic of the process. Comments are made about the evolution of the illness in man and in caprines and ovines. On enclose the histopathologic study of a biopsy of lip, extracted from a sheep affected by this illness. This showed a microscopic picture similar to the one described above.

RESUMO

This is a special case of balanitis, that authors separate from entities clinically established such as Erthroplasie of Queyrat, Balanitis of Zoon, Liquenoide Balantis with Plasmocytes and the Balantis of Sulsberger and Garbe's illness. The V. P. T. B. is clinically characterized by the presence of telangiectasies, ertroplasiform aspect, without any infiltration, non purpure, the V. P. T. B. goes through a first period truly esythematous and a second one in which these is also desquamation. That cycle is completed in a month. At the histopathologic level, the most important characteristics are: epidermis with its Malpighian layer in a normal state, the basal layers showing hidropic degeneration. The repper dermis shows a lichenoid picture that, in certain places affects the basal layer. The infiltrate is composed of: lymphocytes, monocytes and plasmocytes. Numerous telangiectasies are also observed.

RESUMO

A classic case of Epidermal Nevus with a particular peripilar arrangement is presented. Histopathologically, acanthosis, hyperkeratosis and papillomatosis is observed. The indemnity of the hair appendages was demonstrated in three biopsies. Some observations are made about the classification of the epidermal nevus following recent research which includes epidermolytic hyperkeratosis and linear includes epidermolytic hyperkatosis and linear inflammatory nevus. Follicular and comedo nevus, which was included in the differential diagnosis of this patient, is discussed.

RESUMO

The authors present the clinical history of a male 44 year old patient who was hospitalized with the diagnosis of pericardial constriction and effusion and operated on as an emergency because of spontaneous cardiac rupture and was found to have a cardiac adenosarcoma. They review the literature in order to discuss a very rare cause of hemopericardium and constrictive pericarditis with epidemiologic, diagnostic, therapeutic and prognostic commentaries and secondly, to try to establish if this type case does not represent a diagnostic problem for the ecocardiographer since an angiosarcoma that occupies the pericardial space can be confused with a hemopericardium. They also mention other imaging studies that are used to better characterize and diagnose these tumors.

RESUMO

A case of sarcoidosis in a six months old male is reported. Clinical symptoms and biochemical and radiological data suggest involvement at least of three organs. Diagnosis was corroborated by pulmonary, hepatic an lymph node biopsy. Slight renal insufficiency appeared associated to hypercalcemia and hypercalciuria. Hyperaldosteronism also permits relationship with increased angiotensin-I-converting enzyme activity. Pulmonary lesions at this age, were note-worthy in this case. Finally, evolution was favorable with prednisone. Patient presents no symptoms during follow-up for four years.
