RESUMO

Organic bistable devices (OBDs) using graphene oxide (GO) flakes sandwiched polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) films were fabricated. These devices exhibited two accessible conducting states, that is, a low-conductivity (OFF) state and a high-conductivity (ON) state. The devices can be switched to ON state under a negative electrical sweep; it can also be reset to the initial OFF state by a reverse (positive) electrical sweep. Detailed I-V measurements have shown that in ITO/PMMA/GO/PMMA/Al sandwiches the resistive switching originates from the formation and rupture of conducting filaments. The ON/OFF ratio of the OBDs was approximately 5 x 10(3), reproducibility of more than 10(5) cycles, and retention time of 10(4) s. These properties show that the device is promising for high-density, low-cost memory application.

RESUMO

Psittacosis is a zoonotic infectious disease caused by the transmission of Chlamydia psittaci; it often presents as a pulmonary infection but rarely as disseminated disease. Because diagnoses of psittacosis are often underreported due to infrequent pathogen-specific testing, clinical metagenomic next-generation sequencing may be helpful to diagnose such an uncommon syndrome.

RESUMO

Normal cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) does not contain eosinophils. The presence of >10 eosinophils/µL in CSF or at least 10% eosinophils in total CSF leukocyte count confirms eosinophilic meningitis. We present three patients with eosinophilic meningitis from the same locality with peripheral eosinophilia.

RESUMO

Fabrication and characterization of memory devices using ZnO nanorod layer grown by chemical-bath method is reported. The fabricated memory device was found exhibit electrical bistability and nonvolatile memory phenomenon. An additional Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) polymer layer coated on ITO substrate prior to nanorod deposition has been found improve the LRS/HRS ratio of the device. The current-voltage characteristics of the memory devices are discussed in terms of formation and rupture of conductive filaments. The devices have shown consistent electrical bistable behavior even for 10(5) resistance-switching cycles. This hybrid ITO/PMMA-ZnO NRs/Al device has potential applications in the field of bistable random access memories.

RESUMO

The genesis and transport of ozone (O(3)) are investigated in a novel plasma diode and described in this paper. The innovative cathode (K) of this axial symmetric diode which operated at the high voltage (φ(0)), has a large number of sharpened nozzles located on different radial planes of its central tubular-mast and is encircled by the anode (A). The nozzles played the dual role of oxygen (O(2)) injection as well as creation of high electric field (E) in the A-K gap, enabled the formation of a cold corona. Electrons in the corona under the influence of E moved towards anode, collided with O(2) and created the O radicals. O in turn joined the free O(2) and formed O(3). The evolution of O(3) here is modeled in various O(2) pressure (P), electron density (n(e)), and temperature (T) in terms of the major reaction modes involving e, O, O(2), and O(3). Typical steady state O(3) density attained so in P ~ bar, n(e) ~ 10(15) m(-3) and T ~ 300 K is over 10(25) m(-3) and that of O lower ~10(20) m(-3). Both the O and O(3) densities increased with an enhanced n(e) of avalanche multiplications in corona. O(3) increased also with a higher P but the temporal O reversed in trend midway and reduced with P towards the steady state. A sharp decline in diode resistance with smaller A-K gap induced finite discharge current and led to the undesired heating of corona. It is shown that the O(3) density reduced with the temperature rise but O density reduced with the T rise up to 500 K and then rose modestly with the further T increase.
