RESUMO

A five-step phase shift demodulation scheme based on a multiwavelength averaging method is proposed to suppress crosstalk within an extrinsic Fabry-Perot interferometric (EFPI) sensor array. The paper focuses on a two-element sensing system based on the EFPI sensors to investigate the crosstalk in the EFPI sensor array. A detailed theoretical analysis of crosstalk suppression using the proposed demodulation method is presented. Numerical simulations and experiments are put forward to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed demodulation scheme in suppressing crosstalk under varying parameters. The results of the multiwavelength demodulation scheme indicate superior crosstalk suppression capability in contrast to the conventional five-step phase shift demodulation scheme based on a single-wavelength demodulation method. Furthermore, the paper reveals the enhanced crosstalk suppression capability of the proposed demodulation scheme when the cavity length difference between elements is not equal to zero. It alleviates the requirement for consistent cavity length among different elements in the sensing array. The proposed demodulation scheme exhibits excellent crosstalk suppression capabilities in optical multiplexing arrays by decreasing the dependency on extinction ratio and could be potentially used in the large-scale optical hydrophone array system.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: This study aimed to assess the outcomes of thrombectomy with/without iliac vein stenting for young and transiently provoked DVT patients with iliac vein stenosis. METHODS: This is a retrospective analysis of a prospectively collected multicenter database. Acute, transiently provoked DVT patients between 18 and 45 years old with iliac vein stenosis were included. All patients underwent thrombectomy. Outcomes including the Villalta score, the VEINES-QOL score, and adverse events were evaluated. RESULTS: The data of 522 patients were collected of whom 75 were included, 58 underwent thrombectomy alone (nonstenting group) and 17 underwent thrombectomy and stenting (stenting group). Within 6 months, the Villalta score of patients in stenting group is lower than that of patients in nonstenting group (6 mo: 0.73 ± 0.77 vs. 1.41 ± 0.56, p = .0004), and the VEINES-QOL score of stenting group is higher than that of nonstenting group (6 mo: 89.00 ± 2.94 vs. 87.47 ± 3.72, p = .2141). At the following follow-ups, the Villalta score (12 mo: 0.56 ± 0.49 vs. 0.60 ± 0.58, p = .8266) and VEINES-QOL score (12 mo: 88.36 ± 2.29 vs. 88.31 ± 3.36, p = .9604) between the two groups are similar. CONCLUSION: The stenting group had better efficacy within 6 months after intervention, while there was no significant difference in the symptom, signs, and quality of life between two groups after 6 months within a 2-year follow-up. TRIAL REGISTRATION: This study was registered in the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry (Registration Number: ChiCTR2200056073).

RESUMO

We report on phase interrogation of extrinsic Fabry-Perot interferometric (EFPI) sensors through a wavelength-switched unit with a polarization-maintaining fiber Bragg grating (PMFBG). The measurements at two wavelengths are first achieved in one total-optical path. The reflected peaks of the PMFBG with two natural wavelengths are in mutually perpendicular polarization detection, and they are switched through an electro-optic modulator at a high switching speed of 10 kHz. An ellipse fitting differential cross multiplication (EF-DCM) algorithm is proposed for interrogating the variation of the gap length of the EFPI sensors. The phase demodulation system has been demonstrated to recover a minimum phase of 0.42 µrad/Hz at the test frequency of 100 Hz with a stable intensity fluctuation level of ±0.8 dB. Three EFPI sensors with different cavity lengths are tested at the test frequency of 200 Hz, and the results indicate that the system can achieve the demodulation of EFPI sensors with different cavity lengths stably.

RESUMO

Based on the characteristic magnetic-controlled refractive index property, in this paper, a magnetic fluid is used as a sensitive medium to detect the magnetic field in the fiber optic Fabry-Perot (FP) cavity. The temperature compensation in fiber Fabry-Perot magnetic sensor is demonstrated and achieved. The refractive index of the magnetic fluid varies with the applied magnetic field and external temperature, and a cross-sensitivity effect of the temperature and magnetic field occurs in the Fabry-Perot magnetic sensor and the accuracy of magnetic field measurements is affected by the thermal effect. In order to overcome this problem, we propose a modified sensor structure. With a fiber Bragg grating (FBG) written in the insert fiber end of the Fabry-Perot cavity, the FBG acts as a temperature compensation unit for the magnetic field measurement and it provides an effective solution to the cross-sensitivity effect. The experimental results show that the sensitivity of magnetic field detection improves from 0.23 nm/mT to 0.53 nm/mT, and the magnetic field measurement resolution finally reaches 37.7 T. The temperature-compensated FP-FBG magnetic sensor has obvious advantages of small volume and high sensitivity, and it has a good prospect in applications in the power industry and national defense technology areas.

RESUMO

Seasonal variability could have an impact on the incidence and outcome of stroke. However, little is known about the correlation between seasonal variability and location of acute cerebral infarction. This study aimed to explore the relationship between onset season and the lesions distribution of acute ischemic stroke (AIS). We retrospectively analysis data from 1488 AIS patients admitted to the Second Hospital of Tianjin Medical University from 2018 to 2022. All subjects completed head magnetic resonance imaging examination (MRI) and were divided into four groups according to the onset seasons. The lesions distribution of AIS was evaluated for anterior/posterior/double circulation infarction (DCI), unilateral/bilateral infarctions, and single/multiple cerebral infarctions based on MRI. Logistic regression models were employed to assess the association of season with lesions distribution of AIS. Subgroup analysis was performed in different stroke subtypes. Of 1488 patients, 387 (26.0%) AIS occurred in spring, 425 (28.6%) in summer, 331 (22.2%) in autumn and 345 (23.2%) in winter. Multivariate logistic regression demonstrated that the winter group had 2.15 times (95% CI:1.44-3.21) risk of multiple infarctions, 2.69 times (95% CI:1.80-4.02) of bilateral infarctions and 1.54 times (95% CI:1.05-2.26) of DCI compared with summer group, respectively. Subgroup analysis showed an increased risk of multiple (p < 0.01) or bilateral infarctions (p < 0.01) in small-artery occlusion (SAO) subtype, and higher risk of bilateral infarctions (p < 0.01) or DCI (p < 0.05) in large artery atherosclerosis (LAA) subtype during winter. No significant associations of season with lesions distribution in cardioembolism subtype. Our study highlighted a prominent seasonal variability in the lesions distribution of AIS, particularly in LAA and SAO subtypes. The findings could help to formulating meteorological risk warning strategies for different subtypes.

RESUMO

The acoustic pressure sensitivities of hollow-core photonic bandgap fibers (HC-PBFs) with different thicknesses of silica outer-cladding and polymer jacket were experimentally investigated. Experiment with a HC-PBF with 7 µm-thick silica outer cladding and 100 µm-thick Parylene C jacket demonstrated a pressure sensitivity 10 dB higher than the commercial HC-1550-02 fiber and 25 dB higher than a standard single mode fiber. The significant enhancement in sensitivity would simplify the design of fiber hydrophone arrays and increase the number of sensors that could be multiplexed in a single fiber.

RESUMO

Background: The aim of this study was to explore the correlation between non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION) and cerebral infarction (CI). Moreover, the ocular and systemic parameters are also compared between NAION patients with or without CI. Methods: Retrospective analysis is performed for NAION patients and the controls. The controls were collected at the eye outpatient with cranial computed tomography (CT), and data of blood triglyceride, cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein, high-density lipoprotein, and apolipoprotein B were drawn. The diagnosed NAION patients with cranial CT are included, and data of clinical history and routine clinical examination were drawn from the medical record. Visual acuity, intraocular pressure (IOP), visual field, and visual evoked potential were also drawn. Results: Eighty-two unilateral and 6 bilateral patients, totally 94 eyes for 88 NAION patients and 69 controls are included. NAION and control patients have matched age, gender, and weight. There is no difference in triglyceride, cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein, high-density lipoprotein, and apolipoprotein B between these two groups. NAION patients (43.18%, 38/88) have a higher ratio of CI than the controls (14.49%, 10/69) (p = 0.000). For NAION, the odds ratio (OR) of CI is 2.691 (p = 0.011). Body mass index, height, and IOP show no significant difference between NAION patients with or without CI. NAION patients with CI have a significant higher ratio of hypertension than those without CI, and the OR of HBP is 2.623 (p = 0.008). Conclusions: The correlation between NAION and CI is possible as NAION patients have a significant higher ratio with CI. In NAION patients, hypertension is a risk factor for those with CI.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to investigate the prevalence and relevant factors of taurodontism in North China. METHODS: We retrospectively analysed the cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) of 1025 patients (496 male and 529 female) aged between 10 and 59 years. The crown-body/root (CB/R) ratios of the maxillary and mandibular molars were measured. The prevalence of hypotaurodontism, mesotaurodontism, and hypertaurodontism was then calculated and the incidence of taurodontism along with its relevant factors, was evaluated. RESULTS: The overall rate of taurodontism in North China was as high as 78.9%. If the third molars (opsigenes) were excluded, which have a big morphological variation from each other, the rate was 52.4%. The mean CB/R ratio of taurodontism differs from tooth position: maxillary mandibular third molars > maxillary third molars > maxillary second molars > maxillary first molars > mandibular second molars > mandibular first molars (P < 0.05). In addition, the 1025 patients were divided into different age groups, and it was found that the mean CB/R ratio decreased with age (P < 0.05). Moreover, the CB/R ratio of the mandibular first and second molars in female patients was higher than males (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: This study revealed that taurodontism is widely prevalent in North China. The incidence of taurodontism increases the closer the tooth is to the back end of the dental arch, and quite a few of the maxillary and mandibular third molars teeth have tapered roots. And the taurodontism is decreased by age, as there were more affected female than male patients.

RESUMO

We study the photophysical characters of two oligofluorenes-functionalized anthracenes molecules with different fluorine-vinylene (FV) units, which exhibits that "excimer" state appears in the solution after photoexcitation. The dynamic data shows that two mechanisms are responsible for the generation of "excimer". The fast one is controlled by the arene-arene interaction between molecules and the slow one is influenced by the diffusion motion of molecules. Increasing the number of FV units may suppress the DM-dependent "excimer" and enhance the yield of intrinsic fluorescence, which finally improves the fluorescence property of molecules in solution.
