RESUMO

In this study, maleic anhydride-modified lignin (LG-M), a ROS-cleavable thioketal (TK) bond, and polyethylene glycol (PEG) were used to synthesize a lignin-based copolymer (LG-M(TK)-PEG). Doxorubicin (DOX) was attached to the ROS-cleavable bond in the LG-M(TK)-PEG for the preparation of the ROS-activatable DOX prodrug (LG-M(TK-DOX)-PEG). Nanoparticles (NPs) with a size of 125.7 ± 3.1 nm were prepared by using LG-M(TK-DOX)-PEG, and they exhibited enhanced uptake by cancer cells compared to free DOX. Notably, the presence of lignin in the nanoparticles could boost ROS production in breast cancer 4T1 cells while showing little effect on L929 normal cells. This selective effect facilitated the specific activation of the DOX prodrug in the tumor microenvironment, resulting in the superior tumor inhibitory effects and enhanced biosafety relative to free DOX. This work demonstrates the potential of the LG-M(TK-DOX)-PEG NPs as an efficient drug delivery system for cancer treatment.

RESUMO

We present an efficient tunable all-silica-fiber 2nd-order cascaded Raman pulse laser utilizing 2-µm dissipative-soliton-resonance (DSR) rectangular pulses for pumping and highly GeO2-doped silica fiber as Raman gain medium. When pumped at 1966.5 nm, the maximum 1st-order Raman optical conversion efficiency is up to 64.4% at 2153 nm, with 92.4% spectral purity and 0.39-W average power. The maximum 2nd-order Raman optical conversion efficiency is 19.3% at 2370 nm, with 39.2% spectral purity and 0.25-W average power. To our knowledge, these conversion efficiencies and spectral purities represent the highest levels achieved in a mid-infrared all-silica-fiber cascaded pulsed Raman laser. Additionally, by adjusting the central wavelength of the DSR seed pulse, the 2nd-order Raman light can be tuned within a range of 41 nm (2354∼2395 nm). Our system provides a simple and easy-to-implement solution for realizing efficient tunable cascaded pulsed Raman lasers in the 2.4-µm band.

RESUMO

Poly(I:C) is known as an agonist of the TLR3 receptor which could prime inflammation and elicit the host immune response, which is widely applied as adjuvant or antivirus treatment. However, the negative effects of poly(I:C) on regulating immune response to protect the host from inflammatory diseases remain largely unknown. Here, we establish an in vivo model to pre-treat zebrafish larvae with poly(I:C) at 2 dpf, then challenge them with LPS at 6 dpf, and find that poly(I:C) training could significantly alleviate the LPS challenge-induced septic shock and inflammatory phenotypes. Moreover, the poly(I:C)-trained larvae exhibit decreased number of macrophages, but not neutrophils, after secondary LPS challenge. Furthermore, training the larvae with poly(I:C) could elevate the transcripts of mTOR signaling and heighten the H3K4me3-mediated epigenetic modifications. And interestingly, we find that inhibiting the H3K4me3 modification, rather than mTOR signaling, could recover the number of macrophages in poly(I:C)-trained larvae, which is consistent with the observations of inflammatory phenotypes. Taken together, these results suggest that poly(I:C) training could induce epigenetic rewiring to mediate the anti-inflammatory response against secondary LPS challenge-induced septic shock through decreasing macrophages' number in vivo, which might expand our understanding of poly(I:C) in regulating fish immune response.

RESUMO

Trained immunity defines long-term memory of innate immunity based on transcriptional, epigenetic, and metabolic modifications of myeloid cells, which are characterized by elevated proinflammatory responses toward homologous or heterologous secondary stimuli in mammals. However, the evidence of trained immunity-associated immune cells and its molecular mechanism in teleost fish remains largely unknown. In this study, we established a trained immunity activation model in turbot (Scophthalmus maximus) and found that administration with ß-glucan induces protection against a bacterial infection. Through single-cell RNA sequencing to annotate 14 clusters of innate and adaptive immune cells, as well as two clusters of blood cells, from head kidney and spleen, respectively, we characterized that neutrophil displays cardinal features of trained immunity by analyzing the expression abundance of trained immunity database-related genes at the single-cell level. Subsequently, through establishing an in vivo training and in vitro neutrophil challenge model, we found that the trained neutrophils exhibit a significant elevation of the IL-1R signaling pathway after Edwardsiella piscicida infection. Furthermore, inhibition of neutrophil's IL-1R signaling pathway through anakinra treatment impaired the heightened production of reactive oxygen, nitrogen species, lactate, as well as the neutrophil extracellular traps formation and bacterial killing ability. Taken together, these findings characterized neutrophil as the orchestrator to express features of trained immunity, and revealed that the IL-1R signaling pathway plays a critical role in induction of trained immunity for bacterial clearance in teleost fish.

RESUMO

The widespread use of nanomaterials in agriculture may introduce multiple engineered nanoparticles (ENPs) into the environment, posing a combined risk to crops. However, the precise molecular mechanisms explaining how plant tissues respond to mixtures of individual ENPs remain unclear, despite indications that their combined toxicity differs from the summed toxicity of the individual ENPs. Here, we used a variety of methods including physicochemical, biochemical, and transcriptional analyses to examine the combined effects of graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) and titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO2 NPs) on hydroponically exposed lettuce (Lactuca sativa) seedlings. Results indicated that the presence of GNPs facilitated the accumulation of Ti as TiO2 NPs in the seedling roots. Combined exposure to GNPs and TiO2 NPs caused less severe oxidative damage in the roots compared to individual exposures. Yet, GNPs and TiO2 NPs alone and in combination did not cause oxidative damage in the shoots. RNA sequencing data showed that the mixture of GNPs and TiO2 NPs led to a higher number of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in the seedlings compared to exposure to the individual ENPs. Moreover, the majority of the DEGs encoding superoxide dismutase displayed heightened expression levels in the seedlings exposed to the combination of GNPs and TiO2 NPs. The level of gene ontology (GO) enrichment in the seedlings exposed to the mixture of GNPs and TiO2 NPs was found to be greater than the level of GO enrichment observed after exposure to isolated GNPs or TiO2 NPs. Furthermore, the signaling pathways, specifically the "MAPK signaling pathway-plant" and "phenylpropanoid biosynthesis," exhibited a close association with oxidative stress. This study has provided valuable insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying plant resistance against multiple ENPs.

RESUMO

Photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT) was introduced as an ergogenic aid for sport performance in healthy individuals is still controversial. The main aim of this study is to assess the potential enhancements in muscle endurance and recovery from muscle strength and injuries mediated by PBMT among individuals exhibiting diverse activity levels. Randomized controlled trials (RCT) of PBMT interventions for healthy people (both trained and untrained individuals) exercising were searched (up to January 16, 2024) in four electronic databases: Web of Science, PubMed, Scopus and Embase. Primary outcome measures included muscle endurance, muscle strength and creatine kinase (CK) levels; secondary outcome measure included Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) levels. Subgroup analyses based on physical activity levels were conducted for each outcome measure. Thirty-four RCTs were included based on the article inclusion and exclusion criteria. Statistical results showed that PBMT significantly improved muscle endurance (standardized mean difference [SMD] = 0.31, 95%CI 0.11, 0.51, p < 0.01), indicating a moderate effect size. It also facilitated the recovery of muscle strength (SMD = 0.24, 95%CI 0.10, 0.39, p < 0.01) and CK (mean difference [MD] = -77.56, 95%CI -112.67, -42.44, p < 0.01), indicating moderate and large effect sizes, respectively. Furthermore, pre-application of PBMT significantly improved muscle endurance, recovery of muscle strength and injuries in physically inactive individuals and athletes (p < 0.05), while there was no significant benefit for physically active individuals. Pre-application of PBMT improves muscle endurance and promotes recovery from muscle strength and injury (includes CK and LDH) in athletes and sedentary populations, indicating moderate to large effect sizes, but is ineffective in physically active populations. This may be due to the fact that physically active people engage in more resistance training, which leads to a decrease in the proportion of red muscle fibres, thus affecting photobiomodulation.

RESUMO

In this study, an electric oil and gas actuator based on fractional-order PID position feedback control is proposed, through which the damping coefficient of the suspension system is adjusted to realize the active control of the suspension. An FOPID algorithm is used to control the motor's rotational angle to realize the damping adjustment of the suspension system. In this process, the road roughness is collected by the sensors as the criterion of damping adjustment, and the particle swarm algorithm is utilized to find the optimal objective function under different road surface slopes, to obtain the optimal cornering value. According to the mathematical and physical model of the suspension system, the simulation model and the corresponding test platform of this type of suspension system are built. The simulation and experimental results show that the simulation results of the fractional-order nonlinear suspension model are closer to the actual experimental values than those of the traditional linear suspension model, and the accuracy of each performance index is improved by more than 18.5%. The designed active suspension system optimizes the body acceleration, suspension dynamic deflection, and tire dynamic load to 89.8%, 56.7%, and 73.4% of the passive suspension, respectively. It is worth noting that, compared to traditional PID control circuits, the FOPID control circuit designed for motors has an improved control performance. This study provides an effective theoretical and empirical basis for the control and optimization of fractional-order nonlinear suspension systems.

RESUMO

Aging adipose tissue exhibits elevated inflammation and oxidative stress that are major sources of age-related metabolic dysfunction. However, the exact metabolic changes associated with inflammation and oxidative stress are unclear. To address this topic, we assessed variation in metabolic phenotypes of adipose tissue from 18 months adult sedentary (ASED), 26 months old sedentary (OSED), and 8 months young sedentary (YSED). The results of metabolomic analysis showed that ASED and OSED group had higher palmitic acid, elaidic acid, 1-heptadecanol, and α-tocopherol levels than YSED, but lower sarcosine levels. Furthermore, stearic acid was specifically elevated in ASED compared with YSED. Cholesterol was upregulated specifically in the OSED group compared with YSED, whereas linoleic acid was downregulated. In addition, ASED and OSED had more inflammatory cytokines, lower antioxidant capacity, and higher expression of ferroptosis-related genes than YSED. Moreover, mitochondrial dysfunction associated with abnormal cardiolipin synthesis was more pronounced in the OSED group. In conclusion, both ASED and OSED can affect the FA metabolism and increase oxidative stress in adipose tissue, leading to inflammation. In particular, linoleic acid content specifically decreases in OSED, which associated with abnormal cardiolipin synthesis and mitochondrial dysfunction in adipose tissue.

RESUMO

We investigated the effects of lifelong aerobic exercise and 8 months of detraining after 10 months of aerobic training on circulation, skeletal muscle oxidative stress, and inflammation in aging rats. Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly assigned to the control (CON), detraining (DET), and lifelong aerobic training (LAT) groups. The DET and LAT groups began aerobic treadmill exercise at the age of 8 months and stopped training at the 18th and 26th month, respectively; all rats were sacrificed when aged 26 months. Compared with CON, LAT remarkably decreased serum and aged skeletal muscle 4-hydroxynonenal (4-HNE) and 8-hydroxy-2-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) levels. Superoxide dismutase 2(SOD2) levels were higher in the LAT group than in the CON group in skeletal muscle. However, DET remarkably decreased SOD2 protein expression and content in the skeletal muscle and increased malondialdehyde (MDA) level compared with LAT. Compared with LAT, DET remarkably downregulated adiponectin and upregulated tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) expression, while phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K), protein kinase B (AKT), and 70-kDa ribosomal protein S6 kinase (P70S6K) protein expression decreased, and that of FoxO1 and muscle atrophy F-box (MAFbX) proteins increased in the quadriceps femoris. Adiponectin and TNF-α expression in the soleus muscle did not change between groups, whereas that of AKT, mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR), and P70S6K was lower in the soleus in the DET group than in that in the LAT group. Compared with that in the LAT group, sestrin1 (SES1) and nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) protein expression in the DET group was lower, whereas Keap1 mRNA expression was remarkably upregulated in the quadriceps femoris. Interestingly, the protein and mRNA levels of SES1, Nrf2, and Keap1 in soleus muscle did not differ between groups. LAT remarkably upregulated ferritin heavy polypeptide 1(FTH), glutathione peroxidase 4(GPX4), and solute carrier family 7member 11 (SLC7A11) protein expression in the quadriceps femoris and soleus muscles, compared with CON. However, compared with LAT, DET downregulated FTH, GPX4, and SLC7A11 protein expression in the quadriceps femoris and soleus muscles. Long-term detraining during the aging phase reverses the improvement effect of lifelong exercise on oxidative stress, inflammation, ferroptosis, and muscle atrophy in aging skeletal muscle. The quadriceps femoris is more evident than the soleus, which may be related to the different changes in the Keap1/Nrf2 pathway in different skeletal muscles.

RESUMO

The formation of neutrophil extracellular trap (NET) is a critical host defense when neutrophils migrate to infection sites. Pyroptosis is a newly identified programmed cell death, which is tightly regulated by inflammasome activation. However, the mechanism of pyroptotic signaling participating in NET production remains to be elucidated. In this study, the zebrafish larvae otic vesicle microinjection model was used to infect larvae with hemolysin-overexpressing Edwardsiella piscicida (EthA+), and a rapid migration of neutrophils to infection sites was observed. Intriguingly, EthA+ infection effectively induced significant neutrophil membrane rupture in vivo, which was dependent on caspase-B (caspy2) and gasdermin Eb (GSDMEb) but not caspase-A or gasdermin Ea. Specifically, the EthA+ E. piscicida infection induced pyroptosis along with NETosis in vitro, and depletion of either caspy2 or GSDMEb impaired NET formation in vivo. Consequently, inhibition of the caspy2-GSDMEb axis-gated NETosis impaired bacterial clearance in vivo. Altogether, these data provide evidence that teleost fish innate immune cells, including neutrophils, express features of pyroptosis that are critical for NETosis in teleost innate immunity.

RESUMO

Exercise-induced microRNA (miRNA) and HIPPO pathways participate in the regulation of skeletal muscle plasticity but their underlying mechanisms remain unclear. We aimed to investigate the effect of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) on miRNA expression and the HIPPO pathway in the skeletal muscle of aging rats to determine its role in the amelioration of muscle aging. Thirty-six 18-month-old female rats were randomly divided into sedentary control (SED, n = 12), moderate-intensity continuous training (MICT, n = 12), and HIIT (n = 12) groups, with continuous exercise for 8 months. Quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction, immunoblotting, KEGG enrichment, and dual-luciferase assays were performed on the target skeletal muscle. Compared with the SED group, the MICT and HIIT groups showed a significant trend of improvement in Lee's index and grip strength and a marked increase in skeletal muscle mitochondrial function, apoptosis, antioxidant, and lipolysis-related protein expression. They also exhibited PI3K/AKT pathway activation and a decrease in expression of HIPPO pathway-related proteins; 20 miRNAs were differentially expressed and enriched in the exercise group compared with the SED group, including the HIPPO pathway and metabolic pathways. Further analysis of L6 cells confirmed that miR-182 may target PTEN, which indirectly regulates HIPPO signaling, but not Mob1. the combined application of HIIT and MICT increased the antioxidant and lipolytic capacities of skeletal muscle and improved atrophy of aging skeletal muscle; HIIT was more effective than MICT. This may be related to HIIT-mediated AKT pathway activation and HIPPO pathway inhibition by miRNAs (miR-486 and miR-182).

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Hypertension is one of the leading causes of human death and disability. MTHFR and MTRR regulate folate metabolism and are closely linked to hypertension, although the relationship is inconsistent among different ethnic groups. The present study aims to investigate the effects of MTHFR C677T (rs1801133), MTHFR A1298C (rs1801131), and MTRR A66G (rs1801394) polymorphisms on hypertension susceptibility in the Bai nationality of the Yunnan Province, China. METHODS: This case-control study included 373 hypertensive patients and 240 healthy controls from the Chinese Bai population. The genotyping of MTHFR and MTRR gene polymorphisms was carried out by using the KASP method. The effects of genetic variations of MTHFR and MTRR genes on hypertension risk were evaluated with odds ratios (OR) and 95% confidence intervals (95% CI). RESULTS: The present study revealed that the CT and TT genotypes and T allele of MTHFR C677T locus were considerably associated with an increased risk of hypertension. In addition, MTHFR A1298C locus CC genotype could significantly increase the hypertension risk. The T-A and C-C haplotypes of MTHFR C677T and MTHFR A1298C could increase the risk of hypertension. Further stratified analysis by risk rank of folate metabolism indicated that people with poor utilization of folic acid were more prone to develop hypertension. In the hypertension group, the MTHFR C677T polymorphism was significantly associated with fasting blood glucose, fructosamine, apolipoprotein A1, homocysteine, superoxide dismutase, and malondialdehyde levels. CONCLUSION: Our study suggested that genetic variations of MTHFR C677T and MTHFR A1298C were significantly associated with susceptibility to hypertension in the Bai population from Yunnan, China.

RESUMO

Advanced nanomaterials can be released into the environment and can coexist with natural organic matter (NOM). However, evidence on the impacts of NOM on the environmental behavior and toxicity of advanced nanomaterials is still scarce. Here, we investigated the behavior and toxic effects of two layered double hydroxides (LDHs) nanomaterials with different metallic constituents (Mg-Al-LDH and Zn-Al-LDH) at relatively low exposure concentrations on a freshwater green alga (Chlorella pyrenoidosa) in the absence and presence of two types of NOM, namely dissolved organic matter (DOM) and dealkaline lignin (DL). The DOM or DL interaction with the LDHs at different mixture levels was shown to be an antagonistic effect on the growth inhibition toxicity to C. pyrenoidosa mainly. The estimation of the index of Integrated Biological Responses version 2 indicated that the joint interaction of the LDHs with DOM or DL occurred in the following order of frequency synergism > antagonism > additivity. Furthermore, the physicochemical characteristics of LDHs were crucial for illuminating the mechanism by which the DOM or DL modified the LDH-induced oxidative stress response. These findings highlighted the important role of NOM in the behavior and effect of LDHs as a representative of a new class of multifunctional nanomaterials in the freshwater environment.

RESUMO

The assessment and prediction of the toxicity of engineered nanomaterials (NMs) present in mixtures is a challenging research issue. Herein, the toxicity of three advanced two-dimensional nanomaterials (TDNMs), in combination with an organic chemical (3,4-dichloroaniline, DCA) to two freshwater microalgae (Scenedesmus obliquus and Chlorella pyrenoidosa), was assessed and predicted not only from classical mixture theory but also from structure-activity relationships. The TDNMs included two layered double hydroxides (Mg-Al-LDH and Zn-Al-LDH) and a graphene nanoplatelet (GNP). The toxicity of DCA varied with the type and concentration of TDNMs, as well as the species. The combination of DCA and TDNMs exhibited additive, antagonistic, and synergistic effects. There is a linear relationship between the different levels (10, 50, and 90%) of effect concentrations and a Freundlich adsorption coefficient (KF) calculated by isotherm models and adsorption energy (Ea) obtained in molecular simulations, respectively. The prediction model incorporating both parameters KF and Ea had a higher predictive power for the combined toxicity than the classical mixture model. Our findings provide new insights for the development of strategies aimed at evaluating the ecotoxicological risk of NMs towards combined pollution situations.

RESUMO

The increased permeability of the lung microvascular endothelium is one critical initiation of acute lung injury (ALI). The disruption of vascular-endothelium integrity results in leakiness of the endothelial barrier and accumulation of protein-rich fluid in the alveoli. During ALI, increased endothelial-cell (EC) permeability is always companied by high frequency and amplitude of cytosolic Ca2+ oscillations. Mechanistically, cytosolic calcium oscillations include calcium release from internal stores and calcium entry via channels located in the cell membrane. Recently, numerous publications have shown substantial evidence that calcium-permeable channels play an important role in maintaining the integrity of the endothelium barrier function of the vessel wall in ALI. These novel endothelial signaling pathways are future targets for the treatment of lung injury. This short review focuses on the up-to-date research and provide insight into the contribution of calcium influx via ion channels to the disruption of lung microvascular endothelial-barrier function during ALI.

RESUMO

The primary aims of this study were to determine the effects of lifelong exercise and detraining on age-related alterations in mitochondrial function, inflammation associated with senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP), and lipolysis in the perirenal fat and liver of rats. Female Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly assigned to four groups: young control (n = 12), old control (n = 12), detraining (n = 12), and lifelong exercise (n = 12). We then investigated mitochondrial function, SASP-associated inflammation, and lipolysis in the perirenal fat and liver using qRT-PCR and western blotting to assess the expression of AKT, hypoxia-inducible factor 1α (HIF-1α), nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB), c-jun kinase (JNK), and p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (p38MAPK). In the tissues of both the perirenal fat and liver, lifelong exercise significantly improved mitochondrial function, SASP-associated inflammation, and lipolysis. Meanwhile, pathways associated with inflammatory regulation were inhibited, predominantly via the activation of phosphorylated-AKT (p-AKT) and suppression of HIF-1α in both tissues, and via JNK in the perirenal fat and p38MAPK in the liver. Furthermore, detraining activated NF-κB expression in both tissues and induced the upregulation of serum high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP) levels. Collectively, lifelong exercise was found to exert beneficial effects by ameliorating age-related alterations in mitochondrial function, SASP-associated inflammation, and lipolysis in perirenal fat and liver tissues, potentially inhibiting inflammation via the JNK and p38 MAPK pathways, respectively, as well as the HIF-1α and AKT pathways in both tissues. In contrast, detraining induced high levels of circulating hsCRP by activating the NF-κB signaling pathway in both tissues.

RESUMO

The host NF-κB signaling pathway plays critical role in defensing against bacterial infection. However, bacteria also evolve strategies to escape from host clearance. Edwardsiella piscicida is a threatening pathogen in aquaculture, while the molecular mechanism of E. piscicida in inhibiting NF-κB signaling remains largely unknown. Herein, using E. piscicida transposon insertion mutant library combined with a NF-κB luciferase reporter system, we identified forty-six genes of E. piscicida, which were involved in inhibiting the NF-κB signaling activation in vitro. Moreover, we further explored the top 10 significantly changed mutants through zebrafish larvae infection model and validated that six genes were involved in inhibiting NF-κB activation in vivo. Specifically, we identified the adenylosuccinate synthase mutated strain (ΔpurA) infection exhibited a robust activation of NF-κB signaling, along with higher expression of cxcl8a and cxcl8b to mediate the recruitment of neutrophils in vivo. Taken together, these results identified the key factors of E. piscicida in inhibiting NF-κB activation, which will contribute to better understanding the pathogenesis of this important pathogen.

RESUMO

Neutrophils can capture and kill pathogens by releasing neutrophils extracellular traps (NETs), which play critical roles in anti-microbial infection in mammals; however, the mechanisms involved in NETs formation and its role in anti-bacterial infection in teleost fish remains largely unknown. In this study, to explore the function of NETs in turbot, we established an in vitro bacterial infection model in head kidney derived neutrophils, and found that the haemolysin over-expressed Edwardsiella piscicida (ethA+) could induce a robust phenotype of NETs, compared with that in wild type or ethA mutant (ethA+ -ΔethA) strains. Besides, the NETosis was mediated by ethA+ -induced pyroptosis, and arms the ability of bacterial killing in neutrophils of turbot. Moreover, we found that neutrophils elastase (NE) might involves in this pyroptotic signaling, rather than inflammatory Smcaspase. Taken together, this study reveals the important role of pyroptosis in NETs formation in turbot neutrophils, suggesting that NETs formation is a critical immune response during bacterial infection in teleost fish.

RESUMO

Effective and selective separation and recovery of the fission product palladium from high-level liquid waste are conducive not only to reducing its hazards to the public health and environment but also to alleviate the pressure on the increasing demand for natural palladium. Herein, the Pd2+ extraction in an HNO3 solution with a nitrilotriacetate-derived triamide ligand NTAamide(n-Oct) and the complexation between them were investigated. Using n-octanol as a diluent, NTAamide(n-Oct) demonstrated an excellent selectivity, strong extractability, and high loading capacity for Pd2+ extraction. Combined with the results of single-crystal X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, electrospray ionization-mass spectroscopy, microcalorimetric titration, and slope analysis, the extracted complexes were determined as [PdL2](NO3)2 and [PdL2][Pd(NO3)4] (where L denotes the NTAamide ligand) in 0.10 and 3.0 mol/L HNO3 solutions, respectively. The extraction model closely depended on the solvation state of Pd2+ in the HNO3 solution. An ion-pair extraction model was proposed and discussed.
