RESUMO

Heart failure (HF), a complex clinical syndrome, has become a global burden on health and economics around the world. Phlegm-blood stasis syndrome, one of the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) syndrome differentiation, is the core pathogenesis dynamically throughout the occurrence, development, and prognosis of HF. Biomarkers having high sensitivity and specificity are highly demanded to facilitate the accurate differentiation of HF patients with phlegm-blood stasis syndrome. In the present study, serum samples were collected from 20 healthy controls and 40 HF patients (20 with and 20 without phlegm-blood stasis syndrome). We implemented data-independent acquisition mass spectrometry (DIA-MS) for discovery and parallel reaction monitoring (PRM) for validation of biomarkers for heart failure with phlegm-blood stasis syndrome. A total of 84 different proteins were found in the HF with phlegm-blood stasis syndrome (HF-TY) group compared with healthy controls. 37 candidate proteins were selected for the PRM assay, and five validated proteins with high sensitivity and specificity, including insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 4 (IGFBP4), ß-2-microglobulin (B2M), dystroglycan (DAG1), immunoglobulin J chain (JCHAIN), and kallikrein B1 (KLKB1), were considered potential biomarkers for heart failure patients with phlegm-blood stasis syndrome. Newly identified biomarkers might provide insights into the diagnosis and treatment of HF with TCM syndrome differentiation.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is prevalent in Asia including Taiwan. We retrospectively evaluated the risk of HBV reactivation and clinical outcomes in HBV+ and HBV- kidney transplant recipients. METHODS: Patients who underwent kidney transplantation between January 2004 and December 2021 were reviewed. The outcomes of interest included risks of HBV reactivation and patient/graft survival. RESULTS: We identified 337 patients (47.5 ± 12 years) were enrolled in our final cohort. Fifty-two (15.4%) had HBsAg positive at the time of transplantation. Seventeen developed viral reactivations, with 41.2% of them accompanied by active hepatitis. The graft survival, acute rejection rate, and cancer development after kidney transplantation did not differ in terms of HBsAg status. The Cox multivariate analysis indicated the HBV reactivation risk was increased by a lack of pre-transplant anti-HBV medication [hazard ratio (HR), 5.95; 95% confidence interval (CI), 1.31-27.02; P = 0.021 or an absence of lifelong antiviral therapy [HR, 3.14; 95% CI, 1.01-9.74; P = 0.047] Conclusion: Individuals, independent of HBsAg status, had similar prognosis in terms of patient and graft survival, acute rejection rate, and cancer development. The absence of either pre-transplant anti-HBV medication or lifelong antiviral therapy was significantly associated with an increased risk of HBV reactivation.

RESUMO

In this work, sea urchin-like magnetic Fe3O4@CA/BNNS/AgNP composite microspheres were successfully prepared. The photocatalytic performance of composite microspheres for the organic dye rhodamine B (RhB) was systematically investigated under different conditions, and the catalytic degradation rate of RhB was as high as 95% within 60 min; after three cycles of recycling, the degradation rate of RhB was reduced by only 8%. The main active agents in the reaction are e- and •O2-. Fe3O4@CA/BNNS/AgNP microspheres prepared in this study exhibit photocatalytic and electrochemical properties, making them easy to separate. This work is not limited to the development of Fe3O4-based catalysts but also is expected to provide ideas for the research and progress of photocatalytic composite catalysts with electrochemical properties.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: The Chinese Healthy Eating Index (CHEI) is a valid instrument to assess the diet quality of the Chinese population, but evidence regarding the relationship between CHEI and the risk of diabetes remains limited. We aimed to investigate the prospective association of CHEI with diabetes among Chinese adults. METHODS: 1563 adults free of diabetes at baseline and with at least two survey data from 1997 to 2018 were included. Dietary information was collected by three consecutive 24-h recalls combined with household food inventory, and long-term diet quality was evaluated by the CHEI. Diabetes was defined as self-reported physician-diagnosed diabetes and/or fasting blood glucose ≥ 7.0 mmol/L, and/or HbA1c ≥ 6.5%. Cox proportional hazard models and restricted cubic spline analysis were used to estimate the associations between CHEI and diabetes. RESULTS: During a median follow-up of 12.0 years, 192 (10.3%) participants developed new-onset diabetes. Generally, a five-point higher CHEI score was significantly associated with a 17% lower risk of diabetes (HR, 0.83; 95%CI 0.71-0.97). In stratified analysis, inverse associations between CHEI and diabetes were more vigorous in females (HR, 0.68; 95%CI 0.54-0.85) than in males (P for interaction = 0.01). In addition, there was an L-shaped association between CHEI and diabetes risk in the whole population (P for non-linearity = 0.026), while no significant non-linear association was observed in females or males, respectively. CONCLUSION: Our results suggested that a long-term higher-quality diet evaluated by CHEI was significantly associated with lower risks of diabetes, and the favorable associations were more pronounced among females.

RESUMO

Cellular senescence and iron accumulation were separately observed in diabetic nephropathy (DN). Limited evidence supports that iron was significantly accumulated in senescent cells. We aimed to explore whether iron is involved in the pathogenesis role of senescence in DN. Renal cells were treated with high glucose (HG, 35 mM) for 10 or 15 days, and DN mice were induced by high-fat diet and streptozotocin. Gene ontology enrichment, gene set enrichment analysis analysis, ß-galactosidase staining, 5-ethynyl-2-deoxyuridine staining, and western blot depicted the upregulated senescence pathway in vitro and in vivo of DN. Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) release was increased by HG and reversed by p16/p21 knockdown, and the supernatant of HG-treated cells caused increased LDH release from normal cells. Iron metabolism-related protein expression was disordered after HG exposure concomitant with senescence. Ferric ammonium citrate (50 µM) upregulated gamma-H2A.X variant histone and increased the senescence markers in HG-treated cells. The treatment of deferoxamine (0.5 µM) had the opposite effect. Compared to the non-DN individual, increased ferritin and senescence markers were verified in DN mice and patients, and the co-localization of ferritin and senescence markers was observed by immunofluorescence. These results suggested that accumulated iron was correlated with aggravated DNA damage and accelerated senescence, and revealed the role of iron in the cellular senescence of diseases.

RESUMO

Pain-related aversive memory is common in chronic pain patients. Electroacupuncture has been demonstrated to block pain-related aversive memory. The insular cortex is a key region closely related to aversive behaviors. In our study, a potential mechanism underlying the effect of electroacupuncture treatment on pain-related aversive memory behaviors relative to the insular cortex was investigated. Our study used the chemogenetic method, pharmacological method, electroacupuncture intervention, and behavioral detection. Our study showed that both inhibition of gamma-aminobutyric acidergic neurons and activation of the kappa opioid receptor in the insular cortex blocked the pain-related aversive memory behaviors induced by 2 crossover injections of carrageenan in mice; conversely, both the activation of gamma-aminobutyric acidergic neurons and inhibition of kappa opioid receptor in the insular cortex play similar roles in inducing pain-related aversive memory behaviors following 2 crossover injections of carrageenan. In addition, activation of gamma-aminobutyric acidergic neurons in the insular cortex reversed the effect of kappa opioid receptor activation in the insular cortex. Moreover, electroacupuncture effectively blocked pain-related aversive memory behaviors in model mice, which was reversed by both activation of gamma-aminobutyric acidergic neurons and inhibition of kappa opioid receptor in the insular cortex. The effect of electroacupuncture on blocking pain-related aversive memory behaviors may be related to the activation of the kappa opioid receptor and inhibition of gamma-aminobutyric acidergic neurons in the insular cortex.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: The objective of this research was to explore the associations between dietary PUFAs intake and hyperuricemia risk. METHODS AND RESULTS: Based on the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2003-2015, all eligible individuals were divided into hyperuricemia and non-hyperuricemia groups based on diagnostic criteria for hyperuricemia (serum uric acid >420 µmol/L for men and >360 µmol/L for women). Multivariate-adjusted logistic regression was employed to explore the relationship between dietary PUFAs intake and hyperuricemia risk. Total PUFAs and their subtypes were modeled to isocalorically replace saturated fatty acids (SFAs) and monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs). Higher intake of n-3 PUFAs, n-6 PUFAs, linoleic acid (LA), alpha-linoleic acid (ALA), and non-marine PUFAs intake correlated with decreased hyperuricemia risk, with adjusted odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (95%CIs) were 0.77 (0.63, 0.93), 0.75 (0.61, 0.92), 0.75 (0.61, 0.91), 0.69 (0.55, 0.87), and 0.73 (0.59, 0.91), respectively. Replacing 5% of total energy intake from SFAs with isocaloric PUFAs was associated with decreased odds of hyperuricemia in men (0.69 (0.57, 0.84)) and in individuals (0.81 (0.71, 0.92)). Similar trends were observed in the substitution of SFAs with non-marine PUFAs in men (0.87 (0.80, 0.94)) and in all individuals (0.92 (0.88, 0.98)). Sensitivity analyses exhibited consistent results with primary analyses. CONCLUSION: Higher dietary intake of n-3 PUFAs, n-6 PUFAs, LA, ALA, and non-marine PUFAs was associated with decreased hyperuricemia risk. These results support the recommendation to substitute SFAs with PUFAs in diet.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Sleeping in an unfamiliar environment, such as a sleep laboratory, is thought to disturb sleep in healthy individuals and could express a hyperarousal state called the first night effect. Insomnia disorder (ID) is a highly prevalent health problem characterized by increased arousal during the night and daytime. Whether or not a similar phenomenon occurs in patients with ID is unclear. This study aimed to investigate the effect of an unfamiliar environment on the sleep of patients with ID. METHODS: In an unfamiliar sleep laboratory, polysomnographic recording testing was performed for two consecutive nights in patients with ID and age- and sex-matched healthy control subjects (HC). We collected sleep diaries and questionnaires regarding sleep, medical conditions, psychological status, and health history. Sleep continuity and architecture in both groups were compared and analyzed for two consecutive nights. RESULTS: Participants with ID (n = 39)  and HC (n = 35) demonstrated differentially poor sleep on laboratory adaptation after exposure to the sleep laboratory. Patients with ID had longer rapid eye movement (REM) latency on the first night than on the second sleep night. HC showed increased duration and percentage of N1, decreased duration and percentage of N3, and decreased REM percentage during initial nights compared to subsequent nights. The other sleep variables showed no differences between the first and second sleep nights in patients with ID and HC. CONCLUSIONS: An unfamiliar sleep environment does not aggravate the disruption of sleep continuity and sleep architecture but only affects the REM latency in patients with ID compared with HC.

RESUMO

Droughts and heat waves exhibit synergistic effects and are among the world's most costly disasters. To explore the spatiotemporal differences and formation mechanisms of the combined vulnerability to droughts and heat waves in Shandong Province over the past 20 years, a vulnerability scoping diagram (VSD) model with three dimensions-exposure, sensitivity, and adaptability-was constructed to assess and compare the combined vulnerability to high-temperature and drought events, considering economic and social conditions. The results showed that (1) over the past 20 years, heat waves and droughts have increased in Shandong Province. The number of high-temperature events significantly increased in the west and decreased along the eastern coast, and drought change was characterized by an increase in the south and a decrease in the north. (2) The combined exposure to summer droughts and heat waves in Shandong Province showed a significant increasing trend (P < 0.05) at a rate of approximately 0.072/10a; the combined sensitivity significantly decreased (P < 0.05) at a rate of approximately 0.137/10a, and the combined adaptability continued to increase at a rate of approximately 0.481/10a. (3) The combined vulnerability to summer droughts and heat waves in the western inland area of Shandong Province was high and gradually decreased toward the southeastern coast. The overall decrease trend was nonsignificant with a decrease of approximately 0.126/10a, and the decline rate decreased from northwest to southeast, in which Laiwu, Yantai, Jinan, and Zibo cities exhibited a significant decreasing trend (P < 0.05). Although the compound vulnerability of Shandong Province has decreased insignificantly, the frequency of combined drought and heat wave events has increased, and the combined vulnerability will increase in the future.

RESUMO

While land transportation is crucial for social development, it also introduces various pollutants, including heavy metals, which pose risks to both the environment and human health. This issue is particularly acute in mining areas, yet research focusing on heavy metal accumulation in soils and plants along transportation routes in these areas has been limited. Addressing this gap, this study investigates soil contamination levels and heavy metal concentrations in dominant plants along a highway and railway in the vicinity of the Dexing Copper Mine, the largest open-pit copper mine in China, located in Jiangxi Province. These transportation routes are heavily utilized for ore transportation, making them critical areas for environmental monitoring. Results reveal that the primary heavy metal contaminants in the soil were Cu (84.9 to 2554.3 mg/kg), Pb (38.3 to 2013.4 mg/kg), Cd (0.1 to 46.6 mg/kg), Zn (81.3 to 875.8 mg/kg), and As (11.8 to 2985.2 mg/kg), with significantly higher concentrations found in soils adjacent to the railway compared to the highway. Specifically, for plants along the highway, Cyperus rotundus showed a significant enrichment in Cd and demonstrated a notable capacity to translocate heavy metals from its roots to aerial parts. This is evidenced by the elevated concentration of Cd in the plant's aboveground tissues (0.87 mg/kg). Notably, both the bioconcentration factor (BCF) and translocation factor (TF) values exceeded 1, ranging from 1.07 to 3.62. Contrastingly, despite the elevated heavy metal concentrations in soils adjacent to the railway, plants in these areas did not exhibit hyperaccumulation characteristics. The unique behavior of Cyperus rotundus in accumulating and translocating Cd underscores its potential role in phytoremediation, particularly in the context of environmental management for areas impacted by mining activities, such as those surrounding China's largest copper mine.

RESUMO

Accurate oxylipin annotation is crucial for advancing our understanding of physiological processes in health and disease and identifying biomarkers. However, a full view of oxylipins for early diagnosis needs further attention due to the lack of proper analytical methods, which may be attributed to the wide dynamic range, poor sensitivity, extreme molecular complexity, and limited commercially available standards of oxylipins. Here, we devised a novel method by combining a chemical derivatization (CD)-based retention index (RI) algorithm and feature tandem mass spectrometric fragmentation annotation (CD-RI-LC-MS/MS) for identification and quantification of oxylipins. To this end, N,N-diethyl-1,3-diaminopropane (DEPA) was used for fast labeling of oxylipin (within 0.5 min at room temperature) to improve separation resolution and detection sensitivity. The RI algorithm was established to calibrate the retention time variances and assist the identification of oxylipins during liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS) analysis. MS/MS analysis of in total 58 DEPA derivatives of authentic oxylipin standards was subsequently employed to obtain the tandem mass spectrometric feature fragmentation rules for further structure elucidation of the unknown regio-isomers. Finally, a method based upon CD-RI-LC-MS/MS was established for profiling oxylipins from Standard Reference Material (SRM) 1950 human plasma and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) mouse liver tissue samples. A total of 87 and 96 potential oxylipins including 12 and 14 unreported oxylipins were detected and identified from human plasma and mouse liver tissues, respectively. The results showed that compared to the control group, in the liver samples of the NAFLD mouse, the content levels of prostaglandin (PG) E2, PGF2a, 8-hydroxy-eicosatrienoic acid (8-HETrE), and the newly discovered 2-hydroxy-octadecatrienoic acid (2-HOTrE) were remarkably increased, while the oxidation product of n-3 PUFA (p < 0.05) and all hydroperoxy oxylipins significantly decreased. On balance, this method contributes to future studies on oxylipin screening and application in other biological samples for facilitating the understanding of oxylipin roles in metabolic regulation of numerous diseases.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Vascular calcification, a component of chronic kidney disease-mineral and bone disorder (CKD-MBD), is prevalent in patients with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) and contributes to high mortality. However, the association between the blood level of total osteocalcin (OC) and vascular calcification and mortality remains inconclusive. We, therefore, investigated whether different OC fractions can serve as biomarkers of vascular calcification and mortality in the ESKD population. METHODS: This observational cohort study enrolled patients on maintenance hemodialysis. Plasma carboxylated OC (cOC), uncarboxylated OC (ucOC), and intact parathyroid hormone (PTH) were measured. The percentage of carboxylated OC (%cOC) was calculated as dividing cOC by total OC. The vascular calcification severity was defined by an aortic calcification grade. The patients were followed for three years and one month. RESULTS: A total of 184 patients were enrolled. In the multivariable logistic regression, plasma %cOC, but not cOC or ucOC, was independently associated with the severity of vascular calcification (OR 1.019, p = 0.036). A significant U-shaped correlation was found between plasma %cOC and PTH (p = 0.002). In the multivariable Cox regression, patients with higher plasma %cOC had a higher risk of mortality (quartiles Q4 versus Q1-Q3, HR 1.991 [95% CI: 1.036-3.824], p = 0.039). CONCLUSIONS: In patients undergoing chronic hemodialysis, plasma %cOC positively correlated with vascular calcification and exhibited a U-shaped correlation with PTH. Furthermore, a higher plasma %cOC was associated with increased mortality. These findings suggest that plasma %cOC may serve as a biomarker for CKD-MBD and a predictor of clinical outcomes in chronic hemodialysis patients.

RESUMO

The mechanism of Sn and Nb influence on the fraction of tetragonal ZrO2 in oxide films on Zr alloys and their influence mechanism on corrosion resistance of Zr alloys, despite decades of research, are ambiguous due to the lack of kinetic knowledge of phase evolution of ZrO2 with doping. Using stochastic surface walking and density functional theory calculations, we investigate the influence of Nb and Sn on the stability of tetragonal (t) and monoclinic (m) ZrO2, and t-m phase transition in oxide films. We found that though Nb and Sn result in similar apparent variation trends in the t-phase fraction in oxide films, their influences on t-m phase transition differ significantly, which is the underlying origin of different influences of the t-phase fraction in oxide films on the corrosion resistance of Zr alloys with Sn and Nb alloying. These results clarify an important aspect of the relationship between the microstructure and corrosion resistance of Zr alloys.

RESUMO

Background: Ulcerative colitis (UC) and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) share various similarities in clinical symptoms, pathogenesis, and treatment. UC concurrent IBS tends toward more severe symptoms and worse prognosis, and promising feasible therapies for the overlapping symptoms remains a challenge. Rhubarb peony decoction (RPD) is a well-known traditional Chinese medicine that has been widely applied in treating UC. RPD may exert extensive therapeutic effects on both IBS and UC. However, the common mechanism of its treatment remains unclear. We aimed to assess the potential pharmacological mechanism of RPD in the treatment of overlapping IBS and UC. Methods: The active components and targets of RPD were retrieved from ETCM, TCMSP, BATMAN-TCM, and TCM databases. The disease targets were screened by searching the DrugBank, OMIM, TTD, and PharmGKB databases. PPI network analysis was performed and visualized via the STRING platform and Cytoscape software. GO and KEGG enrichment analyses of the hub genes of RPD were predicted to elucidate the potential molecular mechanism. Subsequently, molecular docking was carried out to verify the combination of active compounds with core targets. Results: By integrating all targets of RPD and disease, a total of 31 bioactive ingredients were identified including quercetin, kaempferol, aloe-emodin, beta-sitosterol, and (+)-catechin, etc. JUN, TP53, MAPK1, RELA, MYC, and ESR1 were explored as potential therapeutic targets among 126 common drug-disease-related targets. They were enriched in the AGE-RAGE signaling pathway in diabetic complications, as well as the NF-kappa B signaling pathway and MAPK signaling pathway. Additionally, some active ingredients were identified as candidates for binding to the hub targets via molecular docking, further suggesting their anti-inflammatory and antioxidative properties. Conclusion: RPD may exert the overall treatment effect for UC and IBS overlap syndrome via the biological mechanism of "multi-ingredients, multi-targets, and multi-pathways" on inflammation, oxidative stress, immune, oncogenicity, and gut microbiota dysbiosis.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Oral administration offered a painless way and improved compliance for diabetics. However, the emerging GLP-1 analog peptide drugs for diabetes primarily rely on the injection route, and the development of oral dosage forms was hampered by the low oral bioavailability due to the structural vulnerability to digestive enzymes and molecule impermeability in the gastrointestinal tract. RESULTS: In this study, the non-covalent interaction between cholic acid (CA) and liraglutide (LIRA) was found and theoretically explained by molecular docking simulation. Formation of this physical complex of liraglutide and cholic acid (LIRA/CA Complex) reduced the self-aggregation of LIRA and accelerated intestinal epithelium penetration. By the anti-solvent method, LIRA/CA Complex was loaded into zein/rhamnolipids nanoparticles (LIRA/CA@Zein/RLs) with a loading efficiency of 76.8%. LIRA was protected from fast enzymatic degradation by the hydrophobic zein component. Meanwhile, Rhamnolipids, a glycolipid with surface activity, promoted endocytosis while also stabilizing the nanoparticles. The two components worked synergistically to ensure the delivery of LIRA/CA Complex to intestinal villi and improved oral absorption without disrupting tight junctions. LIRA/CA@Zein/RLs demonstrated a considerable intestinal epithelium absorption in mouse gastrointestinal section and a retention in vivo over 24 h, resulting in a significant and long-lasting hypoglycemic effect in Type 2 diabetes mice. CONCLUSION: This study provided a promising oral delivery approach for LIRA and exhibited the potential for further translation into clinical application.

RESUMO

For the treatment of patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC), the imaging of cervical lymph nodes and the evaluation of metastastic progression are of great significance. In recent years, the development of new non-radioactive lymph node tracers has been an area of intense research. Here, we report the synthesis, good biocompatibility, and in vivo evaluation of a new small molecule near-infrared (NIR) fluorescence probe by the conjugation of Lapatinib to S0456 (LP-S). We show that like Lapatinib, LP-S binds to the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) resulting in high quality fluorescence imaging of metastatic lymph nodes in OSCC mouse models. After local injection of LP-S into the tumor, the lymphatic drainage pathway and lymph nodes can be clearly identified by NIR fluorescence imaging. Further, the LP-S probe shows higher contrast and longer retention in metastatic lymph nodes, allowing them to be differentiated from normal lymph nodes, and affording a new choice for fluorescence-guided surgery. Scheme. Chemical synthesis and application of EGFR targeting probe LP-S for imaging of metastatic lymph nodes (mLNs) in OSCC.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the application of dual "kite" myomucosal flaps (subcutaneous pedicle advancement flap) for the repair of medium lip defects (one-third to one-half lip width). METHODS: Dual kite myomucosal flaps were designed in the adjacent area of the defect in 17 patients with medium lip defect with the principle of using homogenous tissue as far as possible without affecting local anatomical units. RESULTS: The follow-up time was 3 to 24 months; 16 patients showed primary wound healing, and 1 patient showed prolonged healing. The blood supply of the myomucosal flaps were reliable. The myomucosal flaps were smooth, with no proliferation of scars, and the local appearance was good. CONCLUSION: The dual kite myomucosal flaps provide a reliable method for repairing medium lip defects, decreasing the need for additional excision of normal skin tissue, and reducing skin scar.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to analyze the epidemiological characteristics of pediatric facial soft tissue injuries of Chinese preschool-aged children in Hangzhou Plastic Surgery Hospital. METHODS: Medical records of preschool-aged children's facial injuries, 6 years and younger, from January 2017 to December 2019 were collected. Sex; age; time of injury; length of stay; causes of injury; location, type, length, and depth of wound; anesthesia methods; and treatment and evaluation of postoperative scars were analyzed. RESULTS: There were 10,862 cases (male, 6780 cases; female, 4082 cases) in the group. The ratio of male to female was 1.66:1. Mean age was 3.4 (±1.6) years; the youngest was 1 month old. The time of injury occurred frequently between 9:00 and 13:00 and 16:00 to 21:00, with the most common incident time being between 19:00 and 20:00. Collision injury was the main cause of injury (9822 [90.43%]). The most frequently injured area was the forehead (4874 [44.87%]). The main form of injury was laceration wound (9721 [89.45%]). The depth of injuries was mainly middle layer (adipose or muscular layer) (6299 [57.99%]). The length of injuries was 1.7 (±0.9) cm, ranging from 0.2 to 10.5 cm. Furthermore, 9110 cases were repaired by plastic surgeries and 1 or more antiscar measures. After 6-month to 2-year follow-up, 9 cases of animal scratch or bite, lip penetrating wound, or bumping teeth were infected and 26 cases had scar hyperplasia. The others achieved satisfactory results, and the scars were not obvious. CONCLUSION: Preschool-aged children's facial injuries have predictable patterns of occurrence, and targeted preventive measures can reduce the incidence rates. After facial injury, children should present for timely plastic surgery treatment and accept combined antiscarring measures to minimize postoperative scarring.

RESUMO

ABSTRACT: Asian nasal characteristics include a low dorsum, short nose, and thick skin envelope, usually requiring lengthening and elevating the nose during rhinoplasty ( Facial Plast Surg Clin North Am 2007;15(3):293-307, v). The increase in rhinoplasty popularity has resulted in a greater prevalence of complications. In a severely short and contracted nose, an extensively scarred or contracted soft tissue envelope results in weak laxity and extensibility of the nasal skin. For these patients, the essential component of rhinoplasty is to improve skin texture and obtain a sufficient nasal skin soft tissue envelope. Tissue expanders have previously been utilized to expand nasal skin and soft tissue ( Plast Reconstr Surg 2006;118(6):1447-1452; Facial Plast Surg 2019;35(1):68-72). However, nasal anatomical characteristics have limited the clinical application of tissue expanders. This article introduces a simple, noninvasive, and easily adopted method of external nasal skin stretching, which was first proposed by the senior author. This approach has been accepted by rhinoplasty surgeons in China and widely used in clinic. The approach can improve skin laxity, yield extra nasal soft tissue, and create adequate soft tissue coverage of the reconstructed nasal framework to reduce the difficulty of surgery with a reliable clinical effect.

RESUMO

A novel electrochemical sensor was established based on graphene-wrapped PtNi nanoparticles supported on three-dimensional (3D) N-doped porous carbon (G-PtNi/3D-NPC) for the highly sensitive and selective detection of carbendazim (CBZ). In this sensing system, the encapsulation of PtNi nanoparticles (NPs) by graphene can effectively prevent the aggregation tendency and enhance the structural stability. The hierarchically porous nanostructures have a large specific surface area to expose a large number of active sites and the resulting enhanced electrical conductivity ultimate improves the electrocatalytic activity towards CBZ. Under the optimal conditions, the prepared sensor showed excellent electrochemical responses for the determination of CBZ with a linear range of 0.5-30 µM and lower limit of detection (LOD) of 0.04 µM (S/N = 3). It also shows excellent anti-interference ability at a working potential of 0.74 V. The feasibility of the senor is demonstrated for its practical assays in diluted peach and vegetable samples with acceptable recovery (95.8-97.3 %, peach; 97.2-97.6 %, vegetable) and a relative standard deviation (RSD) below 2.3%.
