PURPOSE: Previous studies have demonstrated impaired cerebellar function in patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), which is associated with impaired cognition. However, the effects of OSA on resting-state functional connectivity (FC) in the cerebellum has not been determined. The purpose of this study was to investigate resting-state FC of the cerebellar subregions and its relevance to clinical symptoms in patients with OSA. METHODS: Sixty-eight patients with OSA and seventy-two healthy controls (HCs) were included in the study. Eight subregions of the cerebellum were selected as regions of interest, and the FC values were calculated for each subregion with other voxels. A correlation analysis was performed to examine the relationship between clinical and cognitive data. RESULTS: Patients with OSA showed higher FC in specific regions, including the right lobule VI with the right posterior middle temporal gyrus and right angular gyrus, the right Crus I with the bilateral precuneus/left superior parietal lobule, and the right Crus II with the precuneus/right posterior cingulate cortex. Furthermore, the oxygen depletion index was negatively correlated with aberrant FC between the right Crus II and the bilateral precuneus / right posterior cingulate cortex in OSA patients (p = 0.004). CONCLUSION: The cerebellum is functionally lateralized and closely linked to the posterior default mode network. Higher FC is related to cognition, emotion, language, and sleep in OSA. Abnormal FC may offer new neuroimaging evidence and insights for a deeper comprehension of OSA-related alterations.

This study was aimed at investigating the functional connectivity (FC) changes between the insular subregions and whole brain in patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) after 6 months of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) treatment and at exploring the relationship between resting-state FC changes and cognitive impairment in OSA patients. Data from 15 patients with OSA before and after 6 months of CPAP treatment were included in this study. The FC between the insular subregions and whole brain was compared between baseline and after 6 months of CPAP treatment in OSA. After 6 months of treatment, OSA patients had increased FC from the right ventral anterior insula to the bilateral superior frontal gyrus and bilateral middle frontal gyrus and increased FC from the left posterior insula to the left middle temporal gyrus and left inferior temporal gyrus. Hyperconnectivity was found from the right posterior insula to the right middle temporal gyrus, bilateral precuneus, and bilateral posterior cingulate cortex, which mainly involved the default mode network. There are changes in functional connectivity patterns between the insular subregions and whole brain in OSA patients after 6 months of CPAP treatment. These changes provide a better understanding of the neuroimaging mechanisms underlying the improvement in cognitive function and emotional impairment in OSA patients and can be used as potential biomarkers for clinical CPAP treatment.

Heterointerface engineering with multiple electroactive and inactive supporting components is considered an efficient approach to enhance electrochemical performance for sodium-ion batteries (SIBs). Nevertheless, it is still a challenge to rationally design heterointerface engineering and understand the synergistic effect reaction mechanisms. In this paper, the two-phase heterointerface engineering (Sb2 S3 and FeS2 ) is well designed to incorporate into N-doped porous hollow carbon nanofibers (Sb-Fe-S@CNFs) by proper electrospinning design. The obtained Sb-Fe-S@CNFs are used as anode in SIBs to evaluate the electrochemical performance. It delivers a reversible capacity of 396 mA h g-1 after 2000 cycles at 1 A g-1 and exhibits an ultra-long high rate cycle life for 16 000 cycles at 10 A g-1 . The admirable electrochemical performance is mainly attributed to the following reasons: The porous carbon nanofibers serve as an accelerator of the electrons/ions and a buffer to alleviate volume expansion upon long cyclic performance. The abundant phase boundaries of Sb2 S3 /FeS2 exert low Na+ adsorption energy and greatly promote the charge transfer in the internal electric field calculated by first-principle density functional theory. Therefore, the as-prepared Sb-Fe-S@CNFs represents a promising candidate for an efficient anode electrode material in SIBs.

Unraveling the photogenerated exciton dynamics of π-stacked molecular aggregates is of great importance for both fundamental studies and industrial applications. Among various π-stacked molecular aggregates, perylene tetracarboxylic acid bisimide (PBI) based aggregates are regarded as one of the prototypes due to their inherent high fluorescence quantum yield and excellent photostability and flexibility in controlling intermolecular forces via chemical modifications. However, the exciton dynamics of these PBI based aggregates remain elusive up to now. In this work, we have first employed LR-TDDFT-based nonadiabatic dynamics simulations and static electronic structure calculations to investigate the ultrafast exciton dynamics of a newly synthesized perylene bisimide quadruple (PBQ) π-stack. Upon photoexcitation, the S6 to S10 states are the most likely populated excited states, which can be regarded as a combination of local excited (LE) excitons and charge transfer (CT) excitons of those four PBI chromophores. Then, the excited PBQ π-stack relaxes ultrafast to the lowest lying excited S1 state within 500 fs, which is accompanied by the complicated exciton conversion as well as exciton localization/delocalization dynamics. In short, the initially populated hybrid LE and CT excitons convert to the LE excitons of B/C and A/D, in which the LE excitons of B/C contribute the most (∼0.44) while the LE excitons of A/D also have minor contributions (0.21), indicating the formation of the localized excimer state. We use the notations A/B/C/D here to represent the four PBI fragments of PBQ π-stacks along the direction perpendicular to the PBI molecular plane. Additionally, using a recently defined root mean square deviation (RMSD) of electron and hole spatial distributions along three Cartesian coordinates, we could investigate the exciton localization/delocalization dynamics in a quantitative way. Our simulation results indicate that the photoinduced electrons and holes of the PBQ π-stack exhibit an ultrafast localization(∼10 fs)-delocalization(∼60 fs)-localization(∼200 fs) dynamics, during which both LE and CT excitons play crucial roles. Our present work is not only consistent with previous experimental studies, but also provides more detailed insights into the relevant processes, which might be useful for the future design of PBI based optoelectronic devices with improved performances.

BACKGROUND: There is a paucity of data from large prospective study evaluating the prognostic significance of the residual Synergy between percutaneous intervention with Taxus drug-eluting stents and cardiac surgery (SYNTAX) Score (rSS) in patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS). METHODS: ACS patients who undergoing percutaneous coronary angiography and completing a sleep study during hospitalization were prospectively enrolled. The baseline SYNTAX Score (bSS) and the rSS after revascularization were assessed. Complete revascularization (CR, rSS = 0) and incomplete revascularization (ICR, rSS > 0) were categorized. OSA (apnea hypopnea index, AHI ≥ 15) and non-OSA (AHI < 15) were grouped according to AHI. The primary endpoint of the study was major adverse cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events (MACCEs), defined as a composite of cardiovascular death, myocardial infarction, stroke, ischemia-driven revascularization, or hospitalization for UAP or heart failure. RESULTS: Overall, 752 patients were prospectively enrolled. At a median follow-up of 1 year, the incidence of MACCEs was significantly higher in the OSA than in the non-OSA group (hazard ratio [HR]:1.68; 95% confidence interval [CI]:1.04-2.72; P = .034). ICR was associated with a higher risk of MACCEs in the non-OSA group (HR:3.34;95% CI:1.0-11.12; P = .05). The OSA patients with ICR had a 5.1 higher risk of MACCEs compared with the non-OSA with CR group, P = .007. The OSA patients with CR had a similar 1-year MACCEs as all the non-OSA patients (HR:1.10; 95% CI:0.515-2.349; P = 0.806). CONCLUSIONS: ACS patients with OSA and ICR have a high rate of MACCEs at 1 year. In contrast, the prognosis of ACS patients with OSA but CR is favorable and similar to patients without OSA. Adequate level of revascularization is recommended to optimize clinical outcomes in ACS patients with OSA. TRIAL REGISTRATION: Clinicaltrials.gov identifier NCT03362385.

BACKGROUND: The shear stress distribution assessment can provide useful insights for the hemodynamic performance of the implanted stent/scaffold. Our aim was to investigate the effect of a novel bioresorbable scaffold, Mirage on local hemodynamics in animal models. METHOD: The main epicardial coronary arteries of 7 healthy mini-pigs were implanted with 11 Mirage Microfiber sirolimus-eluting Bioresorbable Scaffolds (MMSES). Optical coherence tomography (OCT) was performed post scaffold implantation and the obtained images were fused with angiographic data to reconstruct the coronary artery anatomy. Blood flow simulation was performed and Endothelial Shear Stress(ESS) distribution was estimated for each of the 11 scaffolds. ESS data were extracted in each circumferential 5-degree subunit of each cross-section in the scaffolded segment. The generalized linear mixed-effect analysis was implemented for the comparison of ESS in two scaffold groups; 150-µm strut thickness MMSES and 125-µm strut thickness MMSES. RESULTS: ESS was significantly higher in MMSES (150 µm) [0.85(0.49-1.40) Pa], compared to MMSES (125 µm) [0.68(0.35-1.18) Pa]. Both MMSES (150 µm) and MMSES (125 µm) revealed low recirculation zone percentages per luminal surface area [3.17% ± 1.97% in MMSES (150 µm), 2.71% ± 1.32% in MMSES (125 µm)]. CONCLUSION: Thinner strut Mirage scaffolds induced lower shear stress due to the small size vessels treated as compared to the thick strut version of the Mirage which was implanted in relatively bigger size vessels. Vessel size should be taken into account in planning BRS implantation. Small vessels may not get benefit from BRS implantation even with a streamlined strut profile. This pilot study warrants comparative assessment with commercially available bioresorbable scaffolds.

Cumulative evidence from histology-based studies demonstrate that the currently available intravascular imaging techniques have fundamental limitations that do not allow complete and detailed evaluation of plaque morphology and pathobiology, limiting the ability to accurately identify high-risk plaques. To overcome these drawbacks, new efforts are developing for data fusion methodologies and the design of hybrid, dual-probe catheters to enable accurate assessment of plaque characteristics, and reliable identification of high-risk lesions. Today several dual-probe catheters have been introduced including combined near infrared spectroscopy-intravascular ultrasound (NIRS-IVUS), that is already commercially available, IVUS-optical coherence tomography (OCT), the OCT-NIRS, the OCT-near infrared fluorescence (NIRF) molecular imaging, IVUS-NIRF, IVUS intravascular photoacoustic imaging and combined fluorescence lifetime-IVUS imaging. These multimodal approaches appear able to overcome limitations of standalone imaging and provide comprehensive visualization of plaque composition and plaque biology. The aim of this review article is to summarize the advances in hybrid intravascular imaging, discuss the technical challenges that should be addressed in order to have a use in the clinical arena, and present the evidence from their first applications aiming to highlight their potential value in the study of atherosclerosis.

By providing valuable information about the coronary artery wall and lumen, intravascular imaging may aid in optimizing interventional procedure results and thereby could improve clinical outcomes following percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Intravascular optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a light-based technology with a tissue penetration of approximately 1 to 3 mm and provides near histological resolution. It has emerged as a technological breakthrough in intravascular imaging with multiple clinical and research applications. OCT provides detailed visualization of the vessel following PCI and provides accurate assessment of post-procedural stent performance including detection of edge dissection, stent struts apposition, tissue prolapse, and healing parameters. Additionally, it can provide accurate characterization of plaque morphology and provides key information to optimize post-procedural outcomes. This manuscript aims to review the current clinical and research applications of intracoronary OCT and summarize the analytic OCT imaging software packages currently available. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

BACKGROUND: The edge vascular response (EVR) has been linked to important prognostic implications in patients treated with permanent metallic stents. We aimed to investigate the relationship of EVR with the geometric changes in the everolimus-eluting bioresorbable scaffold using serial optical coherence tomography (OCT) analysis. METHODS AND RESULTS: In the first-in-man ABSORB trial, 28 patients (29 lesions) underwent serial OCT at 4 different time points (Cohort B1: post-procedure, 6, 24, and 60 months [n=13]; Cohort B2: post-procedure, 12, 36, and 60 months [n=15]) following implantation of the scaffold. In Cohort B1, there was no significant luminal change at the distal or proximal edge segment throughout the entire follow-up. In contrast, there was a significant reduction of the lumen flow area (LFA) of the scaffold between post-procedure and 6 months (-1.03±0.49 mm(2)[P<0.001]), whereas between 6 and 60 months the LFA remained stable (+0.31±1.00 mm(2)[P=0.293]). In Cohort B2, there was a significant luminal reduction of the proximal edge between post-procedure and 12 months (-0.57±0.74 mm(2)[P=0.017]), whereas the lumen area remained stable (-0.26±1.22 mm(2)[P=0.462]) between 12 and 60 months. The scaffold LFA showed a change similar to that observed in Cohort B1. CONCLUSIONS: Our study demonstrated a reduction in the scaffold luminal area in the absence of major EVR, suggesting that the physiological continuity of the lumen contour is restored long term. BACKGROUND: The optimal implantation technique for the bioresorbable scaffold (Absorb, Abbott Vascular) is still a matter of debate. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the effect of implantation technique on strut embedment and scaffold expansion.Methods and Results:Strut embedment depth and scaffold expansion index assessed by optical coherence tomography (OCT) (minimum scaffold area/reference vessel area) were evaluated in the ABSORB Japan trial (OCT subgroup: 87 lesions) with respect to implantation technique using either quantitative coronary angiography (QCA) or OCT. Strut embedment was assessed at the strut level (n=667), while scaffold expansion was assessed at the lesion level (n=81). The mean embedment depth was 63±59 µm. Balloon sizing and inflation pressure had no direct effect on strut embedment. Plaque morphology affected strut embedment [nonatherosclerotic (58.9±54.3 µm), fibroatheroma (73.3±59.6 µm), fibrous plaque (59.7±51.1 µm), and fibrocalcific plaque (-3.1±61.6 µm, negative value means malapposition), P <0.001]. The balloon-artery ratio positively correlated with the expansion index. This relationship was stronger when the OCT-derived reference vessel diameter (RVD) was used as a reference for balloon selection rather than the QCA-derived one [predilatation (Pearson correlation r: QCA: 0.167 vs. OCT: 0.552), postdilatation (QCA: 0.316 vs. OCT: 0.717)]. CONCLUSIONS: Underlying plaque morphology influenced strut embedment, whereas implantation technique had no direct effect on it. Optimal balloon sizing based on OCT-derived RVD might be recommended. However, the safety of such a strategy should be investigated in a prospective trial. (Circ J 2016; 80: 2317-2326).

BACKGROUND AND AIM: Ganglionated plexi (GP) ablation has been become an important strategy for treating atrial fibrillation (AF). We hypothesize that active GP is a predictor of AF recurrence after minimally invasive surgical AF ablation. METHODS: Eighty-nine patients with symptomatic lone AF undergoing minimally invasive surgical pulmonary vein isolation combined with GP testing and ablations were followed for a median of 50 months. Success was defined as freedom from any atrial tachyarrhythmia lasting >30 seconds duration. RESULTS: The single-procedure success rate is 56.3% for paroxysmal AF, 27.3% for persistent AF, and 25% for long-term persistent AF. A mean of 4.1 active GPs were identified in each patient. There were more active GP on the right side than on the left side (2.8 ± 2.2 vs. 1.4 ± 1.2, p<0.001). The number of active GP independently predicted recurrence of AF at 12 months (hazard ratios [95% CI]: 0.67 [0.48, 0.95]; p=0.022), 24 months (0.71 [0.53, 0.95]; p=0.019), and 60 months (0.69 [0.54, 0.89]; p=0.004). Patients with active GP above 5 were associated with higher long-term success rates in comparison to patients with less active GP (p=0.014). Duration of AF >24 months, early recurrence of AF, and left atrial diameter also predicted long-term recurrences of AF. CONCLUSIONS: The number of active GP is a predictor of AF recurrence after minimally invasive surgical AF ablation. Patients with more active GP were associated with markedly higher single-procedure success rates.

Butyriboletus hainanensis, a macrofungus belonging to the Boletaceae family, is named after its collection location on Hainan Island, China. However, little is known about its mitochondrial genome and its phylogenetic relationship with other boletes. In this study, we utilized next-generation sequencing technology to sequence the mitochondrial genome of Bu. hainanensis. Our findings revealed that the mitochondrial genome of this species is presumably a circular DNA molecule spanning 36,592 bp. It consists of 15 protein-coding genes, 27 transfer RNA genes, and two ribosomal RNA genes. The base composition of the mitochondrial genome is as follows: A (36.64%), C (12.22%), G (11.73%), and T (39.41%), with a GC content of 23.95%. Additionally, a phylogenetic tree was constructed based on 22 mitochondrial genomes, which provided valuable insights into the phylogenetic relationships of Bu. hainanensis with other boletes for the first time.

Purpose: Previous studies demonstrated that there was abnormal functional connectivity (FC) in the amygdala subregions in obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), which was associated with cognitive function. However, it is not clear whether these abnormalities can be improved after continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) treatment. Therefore, the aim of this research was to investigate the changes in FC of amygdala subregions with other brain regions after 6 months of CPAP treatment (post-CPAP) in patients with OSA. Patients and Methods: Fifteen OSA patients underwent Magnetic Resonance Imaging prior to CPAP treatment (pre-CPAP) and following CPAP treatment. The amygdala was divided into six subregions, including bilateral dorsal amygdala (DA), medial amygdala (MA) and ventral amygdala (VA). The FC was calculated by using the amygdala subregions as seeds. A paired sample T-test was employed to assess alterations in the amygdala subregions FC of pre-CPAP and post-CPAP OSA patients, and correlation analysis was then conducted to evaluate the association between the changed FC and clinical assessment. Results: Compared to pre-CPAP OSA patients, post-CPAP OSA patients displayed an enhanced FC between the left DA and the right posterior cingulate cortex (PCC), whereas the FC between the left MA and the right postcentral gyrus, and between the right MA and the left middle frontal gyrus, decreased. Moreover, significant correlation between the FC value of left DA-right PCC and Hamilton Anxiety Inventory scores was found in pre-CPAP OSA patients. Conclusion: Altered FC between the amygdala subregions and other brain regions in OSA patients induced by CPAP treatment was related to cognitive, emotional, and sensorimotor function. Our study found altered FC between amygdala subregions and cognitive and motor-related brain regions in post-CPAP OSA patients, providing potential neuroimaging indicators for CPAP treatment.

INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVES: A new computed tomography-derived fractional flow reserve (CT-FFR) technique with a "coarse-to-fine subpixel" algorithm has been developed to generate precise lumen contours. The aim of this study was to assess the diagnostic performance of this new CT-FFR algorithm for discriminating lesion-specific ischemia using wire-based FFR ≤ 0.80 as the reference standard in patients with coronary artery disease. METHODS: This prospective, multicenter study screened 330 patients undergoing coronary CT angiography (CCTA) and invasive FFR (median interval 2 days) from 6 tertiary hospitals. CT-FFR was evaluated in a blinded fashion with a "coarse-to-fine subpixel" algorithm for lumen contour. RESULTS: Between March 2019 and May 2020, we included 316 patients with 324 vessels. There was a good correlation between CT-FFR and invasive FFR (r=0.76, P<.001). The diagnostic sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy on a per-vessel level were 95.3%, 89.8%, and 92.0% for CT-FFR, and 96.4%, 26.4%, and 53.1% for CCTA>50% stenosis, respectively. CT-FFR showed improved discrimination of ischemia compared with CCTA alone overall (AUC, 0.95 vs 0.74, P<.001) and in intermediate (AUC, 0.96 vs 0.62, P<.001) and "gray zone" lesions (AUC, 0.88 vs 0.61, P<.001). The diagnostic specificity, accuracy, and AUC for CT-FFR (71.9%, 82.8%, and 0.84) outperformed CCTA (9.4%, 48.3%, and 0.66) in patients or in vessels with severe calcification (all P<.05). CONCLUSIONS: CT-FFR with a new "coarse-to-fine subpixel" algorithm showed high performance in identifying hemodynamically significant stenosis. The diagnostic performance of CT-FFR was superior to that of CCTA in intermediate lesions, "gray zone" lesions, and severely calcified lesions. Clinical Trial Register: NCT04731285.

DNA methyltransferases (MTases) catalyze the transfer of a methyl group from S-adenosylmethionine (SAM) to the 5-positon of cytosine in CpG islands, eventually inducing the DNA methylation in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes. Despite the development of various methods for the MTase assay, most of them are laborious and costly with poor sensitivity. Herein, we develop a highly sensitive chemiluminescence method for the MTase assay using hairpin probe-based primer generation rolling circle amplification (PG-RCA). In the presence of DNA adenine methylation (Dam) MTase, the methylation-responsive sequence of hairpin probe is methylated and cleaved by the methylation-sensitive restriction endonuclease Dpn I. The cleaved hairpin probe then functions as a signal primer to initiate PG-RCA reaction by hybridizing with the circular DNA template, producing a large number of horseradish peroxidase-mimicking DNAzyme chains, which can catalyze the oxidation of luminal by H2O2 in the presence of hemin to yield distinct chemiluminescence signal. While in the absence of Dam MTase, neither methylation/cleavage nor PG-RCA reaction can be initiated and no chemiluminescence signal is observed. The proposed method exhibits a wide dynamic range from 0.025 to 400 U/mL and an extremely low detection limit of 1.29 × 10(-4) U/mL, which is superior to most conventional approaches for the MTase assay. This method can be used for the screening of antimicrobial drugs and has a great potential to be further applied in early clinical diagnosis.

Migraine ranks among the most prevalent disorders worldwide, leading to disability and decreased quality of life in patients. Recently, neurogenic inflammation has been recognized as a potential underlying pathology contributing to the migraine pain pathway. Mast cells reside in the meninges and have been implicated in contributing to the pathophysiology of migraine. Here we report for the first time that the mouse Mas-Related G-protein-coupled Receptor B2 (MrgprB2), is expressed on meningeal connective tissue mast cells and contributes to Pituitary Adenylate Cyclase Activating Peptide (PACAP)-induced migraine-like pain behavior. We also found that PACAP was able to dose-dependently lead to enzyme release from human mast cells via activation of MRGPRX2; the human homolog of MrgprB2. Using a transgenic MRGPRX2 mouse, we observed significant increases in PACAP-induced migraine-like pain behavior in MRGPRX2+ mice vs mice lacking the receptor. These results reveal both MrgprB2 and MRGPRX2 as important contributors to neuropeptide-induced migraine pain.

Objective: We aimed to analyze the risk of cardiac rupture (CR) in aged diabetic patients with acute ST-segment elevated myocardial infarction (STEMI) who were followed up for one month, and analyze its independent risk factors. Methods: A total of 3063 aged patients with first onset STEMI admitted to Beijing Anzhen Hospital from January 2001 to December 2020 were retrospectively included. There were 2020 patients without diabetes mellitus (DM) and 1043 patients with DM. We used propensity scores matching (PSM) method to balance baseline exposure factors between patients with or without DM, and all were divided the DM group (1043 cases) and the non-DM group (1043 cases) after the PSM. The primary outcome was CR (the composite rate of papillary muscle rupture, ventricular septum perforation, free wall rupture), which was diagnosed based on clinical manifestations and/or echocardiographic findings. Kaplan-meier survival analyses and log-rank test was used to evaluate the risk of CR between the two groups, and Cox regression analysis was used to evaluate the independent risk factors for CR. Results: After PSM, the baseline clinical data were similar between the DM and non-DM group (all P>0.05). However, level of glycated hemoglobin was significantly higher in the DM group (P<0.05). During 1 month of follow-up, there were 55 (2.64%) cases of CR, most occurred within 48h after admission (40 cases). Among the 55 cases, 11(0.53%) had papillary muscle rupture, 18(0.86%) had ventricular septum perforation, and 26(1.25%) had free wall rupture. Kaplan-meier survival analyses detected that the DM group was associated with significantly increased risk of CR (3.36% vs. 1.92%, HR=1.532, 95% CI: 1.054-2.346, P=0.030), ventricular septum perforation (1.05% vs. 0.67%, HR=1.464, 95% CI: 1.021-2.099, P=0.038) and free wall rupture (1.63% vs. 0.86%, HR=1.861, 95% CI: 1.074-3.225, P=0.027) than those in the non-DM group. Among the 2031 aged STEMI patients without CR, 144 cases (6.90%, 144/2086) died; and among the 55 patients with CR, 37 cases (1.77%, 37/2086) died due to CR. Therefore, twenty percent (20.44%, 37/181) of death was due to CR. Multivariate Cox regression analysis indicated that DM (HR=1.532, 95%CI: 1.054-2.346), age (HR=1.390, 95%CI: 1.079-1.791), female (HR=1.183, 95%CI: 1.049-1.334), troponin I (HR=1.364, 95%CI: 1.108-1.679), brain natriuretic peptide (HR=1.512, 95%CI: 1.069-2.139), revascularization (HR=0.827, 95%CI: 0.731-0.936) and ß-receptor blocker (HR=0.849, 95%CI: 0.760-0.948) were independent risk factors of CR (all P<0.05). Conclusion: DM as well as a few other factors, are independent determinants of CR. CR is not a rare event among the aged STEMI patients and twenty percent of deaths are due to CR. However, large sample-sized studies are warranted to confirm these findings.

Previous studies have shown that the structural and functional impairments of hippocampal subregions in patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) are related to cognitive impairment. Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) treatment can improve the clinical symptoms of OSA. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate functional connectivity (FC) changes in hippocampal subregions of patients with OSA after six months of CPAP treatment (post-CPAP) and its relationship with neurocognitive function. We collected and analyzed baseline (pre-CPAP) and post-CPAP data from 20 patients with OSA, including sleep monitoring, clinical evaluation, and resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging. The results showed that compared with pre-CPAP OSA patients, the FC between the right anterior hippocampal gyrus and multiple brain regions, and between the left anterior hippocampal gyrus and posterior central gyrus were reduced in post-CPAP OSA patients. By contrast, the FC between the left middle hippocampus and the left precentral gyrus was increased. The changes in FC in these brain regions were closely related to cognitive dysfunction. Therefore, our findings suggest that CPAP treatment can effectively change the FC patterns of hippocampal subregions in patients with OSA, facilitating a better understanding of the neural mechanisms of cognitive function improvement, and emphasizing the importance of early diagnosis and timely treatment of OSA.

The application of lithium-sulfur batteries are seriously hindered by their poor cycle stability and low sulfur utilization due to their inevitable polysulfide shuttle effect and slow reaction kinetics. Here, Mo2C nanorods that were surface-decorated with metallic-organic framework-derived nitrogen-doped carbon and ultrasmall cobalt nanoparticles (NC-Co@Mo2C) were used as the materials for lithium-sulfur battery cathodes. The prepared NC-Co@Mo2C@S composites had the specific capacity of 1073 mAh·g-1 (0.2 C) and the retained 806 mAh·g-1 after 200 cycles, thus showing excellent discharge specific capacity and cycling stability. The Mo2C nanorods can adsorb lithium polysulfides (LiPSs) through the formation of MoS bonds. Cobalt nanoparticles electrocatalytically accelerated the redox kinetic conversion of LiPSs. Nitrogen doping can effectively reduce the energy potential barrier. The interconnected multidimensional backbone of NC-Co@Mo2C composites contributed to electrolyte permeation, fast electron/Li+ transport, and sufficient volume change buffering. Therefore, the synergistic effect of the adsorption ability of Mo2C nanorods and the catalytic ability of cobalt nanoparticles can effectively improve the sulfur fixation ability of the composites and greatly suppress the shuttle effect.

The lithium metal anode (LMA) is regarded as a very promising candidate for next-generation lithium batteries. The interfacial issue plays a pivotal role in affecting the lithium plating/stripping behavior, Coulombic efficiency and cycling lifespan of an LMA. The lithium reduction reaction (LRR) is an advanced regulating technique for optimizing the LMA interphase, which intelligently utilizes lithium metal itself as an interphase precursor. This strategy also possesses moderate operating conditions, high efficiency, great convenience and scalability. In this review, the latest developments of LRRs in interfacial regulation for LMAs are summarized, focusing on the interfacial regulation mechanism and the construction of various inorganic/organic interfaces in lithium metal liquid/solid batteries. The target interface properties and corresponding influence factors during LRRs are investigated in detail. Besides this, the superiority and insufficiency of LRRs are discussed and possible directions for LRRs are presented. This review highlights in situ modification characteristics for anode interface regulation during the LRR and can be extended to other metal anodes such as sodium, potassium and zinc.
