RESUMO

In this paper, the least squares method is used to determine the vertical height of the road space domain. Based on the road estimation method, the active suspension control mode switching model is constructed, and the dynamic characteristics of the vehicle in comfort, safety, and integrated modes are analyzed. The vibration signal is collected by the sensor, and the parameters such as vehicle driving conditions are solved for in reverse. A control strategy for multiple mode switching under different road surfaces and speeds is constructed. At the same time, the particle swarm optimization algorithm (PSO) is used to optimize the weight coefficients of LQR control under different modes, and the dynamic performance of vehicle driving is comprehensively analyzed. The test and simulation results show that the road estimation results under different speeds in the same road section are very close to the results obtained by the detection ruler method, and the overall error is less than 2%. Compared with the active suspension controlled by passive and traditional LQR, the multi-mode switching strategy can achieve a better balance between driving comfort and handling safety and stability, and also improve the driving experience more intelligently and comprehensively.

RESUMO

Judiciously designed two-dimensional THz metamaterials consisting of resonant metallic structures embedded in a dielectric environment locally enhance the electromagnetic field of an incident THz pulse to values sufficiently high to cause nonlinear responses of the environment. In semiconductors, the response is attributed to nonlinear transport phenomena via intervalley scattering, impact ionization, or interband tunneling and can affect the resonant behavior of the metallic structure, which results, for instance, in mode switching. However, details of mode switching, especially time scales, are still debated. By using metallic split-ring resonators with nm-size gaps on intrinsic semiconductors with different bandgaps, we identify the most relevant carrier generation processes. In addition, by combining nonlinear THz time-domain spectroscopy with simulations, we establish the fastest time constant for mode switching to around hundred femtoseconds. Our results not only elucidate dominant carrier generation mechanisms and dynamics but also pave the route toward optically driven modulators with THz bandwidth.

RESUMO

The ocean-going environment is complex and changeable with great uncertainty, which poses a huge challenge to the navigation ability of ships working in the pelagic ocean. In this paper, in an attempt to deal with the complex uncertain interference that the environment may bring to the strap-down inertial navigation system/polarization navigation system/geomagnetic navigation system (SINS/PNS/GMNS) integrated navigation system, the multi-mode switching variational Bayesian adaptive Kalman filter (MMS-VBAKF) algorithm is proposed. To be more specific, to identify the degrees of measurement interference more effectively, we design an interference evaluation and multi-mode switching mechanism using the original polarization information and geomagnetic information. Through this mechanism, the interference to the SINS/PNS/GMNS navigation system is divided into three cases. In case of slight interference (case SI), the variational Bayesian method is adopted directly to solve the problem that the statistical characteristics of measurement noise are unknown. By the fixed-point iteration mechanism, the statistical properties of the measurement noise and the system states can be estimated adaptively in real time. In case of interference-tolerance (case TI), the estimation of the statistical characteristics of measurement noise need to weigh the measurement information at the moment and a priori value information comprehensively. In case of excessive interference (case EI), the SINS/PNS/GMNS integrated navigation system will perform mode switching and filtering system reconstruction in advance. Then, the information fusion and navigation states estimation can be completed. Consequently, the reliability, robustness, and accuracy of the SINS/PNS/GMNS integrated navigation system can be guaranteed. Finally, the effectiveness of the algorithm is illustrated by the simulation experiments.

RESUMO

This paper describes a novel rate and rate-integrating mode-switchable axisymmetric gyroscope. A precession angle tracking algorithm is developed to enable the gyro to switch automatically between rate and rate-integrating modes at preset rate points through a digital control system within the gyro. We also propose a vibrating amplitude control method for the rate-integrating mode that directly extracts the angular rate output to ensure switching stability. In rate mode, the bias instability and angle random walk of the gyro reach 0.106°/h and 0.011°/√h, respectively. Additionally, an input range of over ±5000°/s is measured in rate-integrating mode. The scale factor nonlinearity reaches approximately 116 ppm over the full-scale range. The control system implements effective steering control of the gyroscope, with a switching delay of 10 ms from rate mode to rate-integrating mode and 100 ms from rate-integrating to rate mode. The proposed system actualizes a new type of gyroscope with high accuracy and a wide input range, which combines the benefits of rate and rate-integrating modes.

RESUMO

Sexual reproduction may pose myriad short-term costs to females. Despite these costs, sexual reproduction is near ubiquitous. Facultative parthenogenesis is theorized to mitigate some of the costs of sex, as individuals can participate in occasional sex to limit costs while obtaining many benefits. However, most theoretical models assume sexual reproduction is fixed following mating, with no possibility of clutches of mixed reproductive ontogeny. Therefore, we asked: if coercive males are present at high frequency in a population of facultative parthenogens, will their clutches be solely sexually produced, or will there be evidence of sexually and asexually-produced offspring? How will their offspring production compare to conspecifics in low-frequency male populations? We addressed our questions by collecting females and egg clutches of the facultatively parthenogenetic Opiliones species Leiobunum manubriatum and L. globosum. In L. manubriatum, females from populations with few males were not significantly more fecund than females from populations with higher male relative frequency, despite the potential release of the former from sexual conflict. We used 3 genotyping methods along with a custom set of DNA capture probes to reveal that offspring of L. manubriatum from these high male populations were primarily produced via asexual reproduction. This is surprising because sex ratios in these southern populations approach equality, increasing the probability for females to encounter mates and produce offspring sexually. We additionally found evidence for reproductive polymorphisms within populations. Rapid and accurate SNP genotyping data will continue to allow us to address broader evolutionary questions regarding the role of facultative reproductive modes in the maintenance of sex.

RESUMO

The hybrid power system with dual motors and multiple clutches experiences significant torque fluctuation during mode switching process due to the different torque response characteristics of the motor and engine. To address this issue, this paper focuses on the estimation of clutch friction torque and the development of dynamic coordinated control strategies for the components. Firstly, based on the dynamic model of the novel dual-motor hybrid electric vehicle, a torque observer based on the Kalman filter algorithm is developed to predict the friction torque generated in the clutch sliding friction stage. Secondly, the control strategies are developed for the mode switching process from single-motor to dual-motor and from dual-motor to parallel drive on a co-simulation platform. Thirdly, a power level Hardware-In-the-Loop test platform is built, and the performance of the designed control strategies is verified by the HIL platform. The results show that for the mode switching process from dual-motor to parallel drive, compared with the control strategy using the engine target speed, the control strategy based on engine idle speed proposed in this paper reduces the clutch sliding friction work and the maximum longitudinal jerk of the vehicle by 42.5% and 25.4%, respectively.

RESUMO

Emitting light toward on-demand directions is important for various optoelectronic applications, such as optical communication, displaying, and ranging. However, almost all existing directional emitters are assemblies of passive optical antennae and external light sources, which are usually bulky and fragile and show unendurable loss of light power. Here we theoretically propose and experimentally demonstrate a conceptual design of a directional emitter, by using a single surface-emitting laser source itself to achieve dynamically controlled beam steering. The laser is built on photonic crystals that operate near the band edges in the continuum. By shrinking laser sizes to tens-of-wavelength, the optical modes quantize in three-dimensional momentum space, and each of them directionally radiates toward the far-field. Further utilizing the luminescence spectrum shifting effect under current injection, we consecutively select a sequence of modes into lasing action and show the laser maintaining single-mode operation with line widths at a minimum of 1.8 MHz and an emitting power of ∼10 milliwatts, and we demonstrate fast beam steering across a range of 3.2° × 4° on a time scale of 500 ns. Our work proposes a method for on-chip active beam steering for the development of automotive, industrial, and robotic applications.

RESUMO

During in-run mode matching under a dual-mode gyro scheme, the stability of the closed-loop control system has a boundary. This phenomenon will lead to the failure of the in-run frequency split calibration scheme when the initial mode mismatch is too severe to exceed the stability boundary. This paper gives a detailed analysis of this stability boundary through simulations and experiments. Results show that the length of the stable region will be affected by the resonant frequency and the Q value. High resonant frequency and low Q value will widen the stable region, but also reduce the sensitivity and rapidity of the calibration. In order to remove the limitation of the stability boundary while applying the in-run frequency split calibration under dual-mode architecture, this paper proposes an enhanced solution that combines both the dual-mode scheme and technology of mode switching. The application of mode switching achieves a pre-calibration of frequency split before the normal gyro operation. This solution is implemented in engineering on a hybrid gyro interface circuit prototype with single-mode and dual-mode. Validation experiments confirmed the effectiveness of this solution.

RESUMO

The triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) is an emerging technology for ambient mechanical energy harvesting, which provides a possibility to realize wild environment monitoring by self-powered sensing systems. However, TENGs are limited in some practical applications as a result of their low output performance (low charge density) and mechanical durability (material abrasion). Herein, an ultrarobust and high-performance rotational TENG enabled by automatic mode switching (contact mode at low speed and noncontact at high speed) and charge excitation is proposed. It displays excellent stability, maintaining 94% electrical output after 72 000 cycles, much higher than that of the normal contact-mode TENG (30%). Due to its high electrical stability and large electrical output, this TENG powers 944 green light-emitting diodes to brightness in series. Furthermore, by harvesting water-flow energy, various commercial capacitors can be charged quickly, and a self-powered fire alarm and self-powered temperature and humidity detection are realized. This work provides an ideal scheme for enhancing the mechanical durability, broadening the range of working frequency, and improving the electrical output of TENGs. In addition, the high-performance hydrodynamic TENG demonstrated in this work will have great applications for Internet of Things in remote areas.

RESUMO

Objective: To analyse the guiding value of procalcitonin (PCT) for the selection of ventilation switching points in sequential mechanical ventilation for patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and respiratory failure, and to provide a reference for the optimisation of mechanical ventilation for patients with COPD and respiratory failure. Methods: The study included 160 patients with an acute exacerbation of COPD complicated by respiratory failure who received sequential mechanical ventilation treatment. They were divided into two groups of 80 participants. The critical point of the pulmonary infection observation window (PIC) was used as the switching point for sequential mechanical ventilation treatment in the control group, and PCT clinical node was used as the switching point for sequential mechanical ventilation treatment in the observation group. The invasive ventilation time, non-invasive mechanical ventilation time, total mechanical ventilation time, intensive care unit (ICU) treatment time, complication rate and prognosis were compared for the two groups. Results: (1) There was no significant difference in the respiratory rate, heart rate, arterial systolic pressure, arterial oxygen partial pressure, arterial carbon dioxide partial pressure or pH value between the two groups after 1 day of treatment, and (2) invasive mechanical ventilation time, non-invasive mechanical ventilation time, total mechanical ventilation time, ICU treatment time and the incidence of complications were significantly different in the two groups (P = 0.0001). Conclusion: Detecting PCT can guide the selection of ventilation switching points in sequential mechanical ventilation therapy for patients with COPD with respiratory failure in the acute exacerbation stage, effectively reduce the misevaluation of PIC switching points so that patients can obtain stable criteria for judgement and effectively improve the efficiency and safety of mechanical ventilation treatment for patients in the acute exacerbation stage.

RESUMO

A significant milestone in cardiac pacing occurred approximately two decades ago, when the primary operating mode was reimagined to more closely mimic normal top-down cardiac activation. When introduced, Managed Ventricular Pacing (MVP™; Medtronic, Minneapolis, MN, USA) was an unprecedented dual-chamber mode as it preferentially paced the right atrium in the AAI/R mode and simultaneously protected against transient heart block, albeit only in the instance of dropped ventricular beats. At the time, dual-chamber DDD/R with atrial-based timing and programmable atrioventricular delay was state of the art. MVP™ "unlocked" conventional dual-chamber pacing by not consistently requiring a 1:1 atrioventricular relationship during its primary operating mode (ie, AAI/R+). Ultimately, MVP™ emerged as a primitive means to promote His-Purkinje activation, and it is not a coincidence that its roots can be traced back to first-in-man permanent His-bundle pacing.

RESUMO

When the environment changes, vision adapts to maintain accurate perception. For repeatedly encountered environments, learning to adjust more rapidly would be beneficial, but past work remains inconclusive. We tested if the visual system can learn such visual mode switching for a strongly color-tinted environment, where adaptation causes the dominant hue to fade over time. Eleven observers wore bright red glasses for five 1-hr periods per day, for 5 days. Color adaptation was measured by asking observers to identify 'unique yellow', appearing neither reddish nor greenish. As expected, the world appeared less and less reddish during the 1-hr periods of glasses wear. Critically, across days the world also appeared significantly less reddish immediately upon donning the glasses. These results indicate that the visual system learned to rapidly adjust to the reddish environment, switching modes to stabilize color vision. Mode switching likely provides a general strategy to optimize perceptual processes.

RESUMO

To improve the real-time capability, adaptivity, and efficiency of the energy management strategy in the actual driving cycle, a real-time energy management strategy is investigated for commute hybrid electric vehicles, which integrates mode switching with variable threshold and adaptive equivalent consumption minimization strategy. The proposed strategy includes offline and online parts. In the offline part based on the historical traffic data on the route of the commute vehicle, particle swarm optimization is applied to optimize all the thresholds of mode switching, equivalence factor of the equivalent consumption minimization strategy, and the engine torque and speed at the engine-alone propelling mode so as to establish their mappings on the battery state of charge and power demand. In the online part, the established mappings are involved in the energy management supervisor to generate timely appropriate mode switching signals, and an adaptive equivalence factor for instantaneous optimization equivalent consumption minimization strategy and the optimal engine torque and speed at engine-alone propelling mode. To fully demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed strategy, the simulation results and comparison with some other strategies and the benchmark dynamic programming strategy are presented by implementing the strategies on the GT-SUITE test platform. The comparison result indicates that the control effect of the proposed energy management strategy is much nearer to that of the benchmark dynamic programming than those of other strategies (the rule-based control, the conventional equivalent consumption minimization strategy, the adaptive equivalent consumption minimization strategy, the rule-based-equivalent consumption minimization strategy, and the stochastic dynamic programming strategy) with the respective improvement in fuel efficiency by 25.9%, 13.25%, 4.6%, 1.32%, and 1.13%.

RESUMO

This review focuses on the manifestations of the three triggered atrial upper rate functions of St Jude Medical cardiac implantable electronic devices. The occurrence of repetitive nonreentrant ventriculoatrial synchrony (RNRVAS) is also evaluated as a basis for the development of automatic mode switching (AMS) and as a trigger for atrial tachycardia/atrial fibrillation (AT/AF) event recordings. RNRVAS is a common trigger for AMS because all the atrial events or intervals are used to calculate the filtered atrial rate interval (FARI). Once AMS is initiated, it will also effectively stop RNRVAS because entry into AMS also shortens the postventricular atrial refractory period (PVARP). Recent design developments to eliminate or minimize unusual upper rare responses include the following: (1) P waves in the PVARP are no longer counted towards the FARI if they are followed by an atrial paced event. (2) In new devices the AT/AF detection algorithm substitutes the Moving Average Interval (a relatively complex calculation) with the new FARI average. (3) Improved design of the rate-responsive PVARP with a far more aggressive response than in the past (enhanced atrial protection interval).

RESUMO

Similar to endless loop tachycardia (ELT), repetitive nonreentrant ventriculoatrial synchrony (RNRVAS) is a ventriculoatrial (VA) synchrony pacemaker-mediated arrhythmia. RNRVAS was first described in 1990 and can only occur in the presence of retrograde VA conduction and dual-chamber or cardiac resynchronization devices with tracking (P-synchronous ventricular pacing such as DDD, DDDR) or nontracking pacing modes that allow AV-sequential pacing (DDI, DDIR). RNRVAS is promoted by (1) high lower rate limit or any feature that allows rapid pacing, (2) long AV intervals, or (3) long postventricular atrial refractory period (PVARP). In contrast to ELT, RNRVAS is a less well-recognized form of pacemaker-mediated arrhythmia; thus, unlike ELT, there are no specific device algorithms to prevent, recognize, and terminate RNRVAS. However, RNRVAS has been recently shown to occur frequently. We present a series of cases, some of which were found fortuitously. Owing to its clinical implications, we propose that algorithms should be developed to prevent, identify, and terminate RNRVAS.

RESUMO

An 80-year-old woman with a history of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation and atrioventricular node disease status post-dual chamber pacemaker placement was noted to have abnormal pacing episodes during a percutaneous coronary intervention. Pacemaker interrogation revealed a high number of short duration mode switching episodes. Representative electrograms demonstrated high frequency nonphysiologic recordings predominantly in the atrial lead. Intrinsic pacemaker malfunction was excluded. A chest radiograph showed excess atrial and ventricular lead slack in the right ventricular inflow. It was suspected that lead-lead interaction resulted in artifacts and oversensing, causing frequent short episodes of inappropriate mode switching.

RESUMO

Conducting survey interviews on the internet has become an attractive method for lowering data collection costs and increasing the frequency of interviewing, especially in longitudinal studies. However, the advantages of the web mode for studies with frequent re-interviews can be offset by the serious disadvantage of low response rates and the potential for nonresponse bias to mislead investigators. Important life events, such as changes in employment status, relationship changes, or moving can cause attrition from longitudinal studies, producing the possibility of attrition bias. The potential extent of such bias in longitudinal web surveys is not well understood. We use data from the Relationship Dynamics and Social Life (RDSL) study to examine the potential for a mixed-device approach with active mode switching to reduce attrition bias. The RDSL design allows panel members to switch modes by integrating telephone interviewing into a longitudinal web survey with the objective of collecting weekly reports. We found that in this design allowing panel members to switch modes kept more participants in the study compared to a web only approach. The characteristics of persons who ever switched modes are different than those who did not - including not only demographic characteristics, but also baseline characteristics related to pregnancy and time-varying characteristics that were collected after the baseline interview. This was true in multivariate models that control for multiple of these dimensions simultaneously. We conclude that mode options and mode switching is important for the success of longitudinal web surveys to maximize participation and minimize attrition.

RESUMO

An improved high performance liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization-mass spectrometry (HPLC-ESI-MS) method was developed to quantitatively evaluate the holistic quality of traditional complex herbal medicines (CHMs). Qiong-Yu-Gao (QYG), a classical CHM consisting of Rehmanniae Radix, Poriae and Ginseng Radix, was used as an example. Thirty-eight major components (including six pairs of epimers/isomers) belonging to five chemical types, i.e., iridoid glycosides, phenethylacohol glycosides, furfural derivatives, ginsenosides and triterpenoid acids, were selected as marker compounds. Programmed ionization mode switching and time segment scanning were designed to improve the sensitivity of the MS detection concerning the diverse chemical features of the analytes. The reference compounds of the analytes were individually injected directly into MS to optimize the ionization cone voltage and to select monitoring ion of each analyte. Nine channels with eight time segments were determined for monitoring the thirty-eight analytes, among which six were detected in positive and thirty-two in negative ion modes respectively. Higher signal-to-noise ratios of the analytes were achieved when compared with full time scanning. In addition, the linearity, precision, accuracy and stability of the method were also validated. The established method was applied for the quantitative evaluation of QYG samples prepared with three different methods. Obvious difference in the contents of thirty-eight components, in particular the original ginsenosides, degraded ginsenosides and furfural derivatives, was found among these QYG samples. All these results demonstrated that the established HPLC-ESI-MS with programmed ionization mode switching and time segment scanning approach is very suitable for the standardization investigation of CHMs.
