RESUMO

Ibuprofen (IBU) and naproxen (NPX), as widely prescribed non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), are largely produced and consumed globally, leading to frequent and ubiquitous detection in various aqueous environments. Previously, the microbial transformation of them has been given a little attention, especially with the isolated fungus. A yeast-like Apiotrichum sp. IB-1 has been isolated and identified, which could simultaneously transform IBU (5 mg/L) and NPX (2.5 mg/L) with maximum efficiencies of 95.77% and 88.31%, respectively. For mono-substrate, the transformation efficiency of IB-1 was comparable to that of co-removal conditions, higher than most of isolates so far. IBU was oxidized mainly through hydroxylation (m/z of 221, 253) and NPX was detoxified mainly via demethylation (m/z of 215) as shown by UPLC-MS/MS results. Based on transcriptome analysis, the addition of IBU stimulated the basic metabolism like TCA cycle. The transporters and respiration related genes were also up-regulated accompanied with higher expression of several dehydrogenase, carboxylesterase, dioxygenase and oxidoreductase encoding genes, which may be involved in the transformation of IBU. The main functional genes responsible for IBU and NPX transformation for IB-1 should be similar in view of previous studies, which needs further confirmation. This fungus would be useful for potential bioremediation of NSAIDs pollution and accelerate the discovery of functional oxidative genes and enzymes different from those of bacteria.

RESUMO

The assessment of land cover and changes will help to understand the temporal and spatial pattern of land cover in the world and the Belt and Road (B&R) region, and provide reference information for global sustainable development and the Belt and Road construction. In this paper, the 1 km global land cover classification maps of 2016 and 2020 with a high accuracy of 88% are mapped using the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) time series surface reflectance products. Based on the maps, the land cover status of the world and the Belt and Road region, the land cover change from 2016 to 2020, and the mutual transformation characteristics between various types, are analyzed. The research results indicate that from 2016 to 2020, the global change rates of cropland, forest, grassland, and impervious surface are 0.25%, 0.22%, 0.08% and 3.41%, respectively. In the Belt and Road region, the change rates of cropland, forest, grassland, and impervious surface are 0.42%, 0.60%, -0.55% and 2.98% respectively. The assessment results will help to clarify the spatial pattern of land cover change in the five years from 2016 to 2020, so as to provide valuable scientific information for the global realization of sustainable development goals and the construction of the B&R.

RESUMO

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) have attracted worldwide attention due to their high stability, refractory degradation, and bioaccumulation. The Dongjiang River is one of the most important water sources in the Pearl River Delta region. It flows from Jiangxi Province to Guangdong Province and finally into the Pearl River, providing domestic water for cities such as Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong. In this study, 17 PFASs in water, sediment, and fish in the Dongjiang River Basin in southern China were investigated using high-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. Total PFAS concentrations ranged from 20.83 to 372.8 ng/L in water, from 1.050 to 3.050 ng/g in sediments, and from 12.28 to 117.4 ng/g in fish. Among six species of fish, Oreochromis mossambicus (mean: 68.55 ng/g) had the highest concentration of PFASs, while Tilapia zillii (36.90 ng/g) had the lowest concentration. Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) predominates in water and sediments, while perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS) predominates in fish. Long-chain perfluorocarboxylates (PFCAs) and perfluorosulfonates (PFSAs) showed higher bioaccumulation, and the field-sourced sediment-water partition coefficients (Kd) and bioaccumulation factors (BAFs) of PFASs increased with the length of perfluorocarbon chains. PFAS concentration in the lower reaches (urban area) of the Dongjiang River is higher than that in the upper and middle reaches (rural area). The calculated hazard ratio (HR) of PFOS and PFOA levels in fish in the Dongjiang River Basin was far less than 1; hence, the potential risk to human health was limited.

RESUMO

The land development by human beings has changed from the initial small-scale and low-level transformation to the comprehensive utilization of large-scale and high-intensity implementations. The contradiction between production-living-ecology space (PLES) has become increasingly prominent while drawing land dividends. As one of the important birthplaces of Chinese civilization and the ecological barrier in the northern region, the rapid urbanization and industrialization of the Yellow River Basin (YRB) make the ecological environment very fragile, and the imbalance of land and space development is extremely serious. Therefore, according to the multifunctional characteristics of land use, this paper establishes a classification system of production space (PS), living space (LS) and ecology space (ES), and discusses the spatiotemporal evolution and conflict distribution characteristics of the PLES with the help of the transfer matrix and spatial conflict index (SCI). The results are as follows. In 1990-2020, agricultural production space (APS), grassland ecology space (GES) and other ecology space (OES) yielded the largest proportion of PLES in the YRB. However, compared with 1990, the area of these spatial types decreased in 2020, while the urban living space (ULS) expanded rapidly. The distribution pattern of PLES was generally consistent, and the transformation between PLES in Ningxia, central Inner Mongolia, Loess Plateau and downstream areas was relatively intense. The conflict index of PLES showed an upward trend, but it was generally in a controllable range. The stable and controllable areas were concentrated in the upstream of the urban agglomeration, and the midstream and downstream were basic out of control and seriously out of control, respectively.

RESUMO

The effects of niobium and composite strengthening on the phase transformation characteristics and precipitation behavior of continuous cooling transformation of high-strength rebar during thermal deformation and subsequent cooling were investigated. The results show that when the cooling rate was within 0.3-5 °C/s, ferrite transformation and pearlite transformation occurred in the experimental steels. The Nb content increased to 0.062 wt.%, and the starting temperature of the ferrite transformation decreased. Meanwhile, the ferrite phase transformation zone gradually expanded, and the pearlite phase transformation zone gradually narrowed with the increase in the cooling rate. When the cooling rate was 1 °C/s, bainite transformation began to occur, and the amount of transformation increased with the increase in the cooling rate. It was found that the main precipitates in the experimental steels were (Nb, Ti, V)C, with an average particle size of about 10-50 nm. When the Nb content was increased to 0.062 wt.% and the cooling rate was increased to 5 °C/s, the ferrite grain size was reduced from 19.5 to 7.5 µm, and the particle size of the precipitate (Nb, Ti, V)C could be effectively reduced. The strength of the steel was significantly improved, but the elongation of the steel was reduced. However, the comprehensive mechanical properties of 0.062 wt.% Nb experimental steel was significantly improved at a cooling rate of 5 °C/s.

RESUMO

Combined UV-chlorine treatment is a promising disinfection technology providing synergistic effects on bacteria-killing. The interaction between UV and chlorine would affect pollutants removal and disinfection by-products formation, while little is known about how UV and chlorine respectively contribute to pollutants transformation under combined UV-chlorine treatment. In this study, UV filter 2,3,4-trihydroxybenzophenone (2,3,4-THBP) was selected as a model compound to investigate the transformation characteristics and acute toxicity variation under combined UV-chlorine treatment. Especially, separative UV and chlorination treatments were conducted to illustrate their respective contribution in combined UV-chlorine treatment. It was found that the optimal removal percentage of 2,3,4-THBP under combined UV-chlorine treatment was 85.3% within 5 min and kept stable until 3 h at 3-equivalent (equiv.) of free available chlorine (FAC) and 1 mW/cm2 of irradiation intensity. Correspondingly, acute toxicity of reaction mixture at 3 h increased twice as high as that of 2,3,4-THBP itself. Four transformation products were tentatively identified, and their formation possibly involved the reactions of chlorine substitution, oxidation, hydroxylation, and hydrolysis. FAC initiated the preliminary transformation of 2,3,4-THBP, and the synergistic effects of UV and chlorine promoted the further transformation of intermediates from chlorination treatment. Most important was that, 2,3,4-THBP could form some toxic products in the real ambient water matrix under solar irradiation, and acute toxicity of reaction mixture was 1.84 times higher than that of 2,3,4-THBP. This study would provide a better understanding on the transformation characteristics of pollutants under combined UV-chlorine treatment, and provide a reference for optimizing disinfection treatment.

RESUMO

Straw returning is one of the important measures for improving soil fertility. It is unclear, however, whether the regulation function of soil on nitrogen (N) cycle after fertilization is sustainable and the relationship between the regulation function and the amount of straw returned to the field. In this study, a 3-year straw returning field trial was set up in a field had been carried out straw returning of all the havested straw for nine years. The amount of straw returned was 100%, 67%, 33% and 0 of the average annual straw yield (7500 kg·hm-2) to identify the effects of different straw returned amount on N transformation in the fertilized soil (0-10 cm). Results showed that the amount of straw returning affected the production and consumption of NH4+-N and NO3--N by affecting the potential gross N transformation rate. When the amount of straw returning was less than 67%, the production rate of NH4+-N significantly reduced and the consumption rate significantly increased, and thus led to the decrease in soil NH4+-N retention capacity. The NO3--N production rate increased and the retention capacity decreased, and the NO3--N accumulation and leaching loss risk increased. Therefore, returning more than 67% of harvested straw was necessary to maintain the function of soil N conservation.
