RESUMO

Degradation of fast response pressure-sensitive paints (PSP) above room temperature is a serious problem for PSP measurements in high-temperature environments. A standard polymer-ceramic PSP (PC-PSP) composed of platinum(II)-5,10,15,20-tetrakis-(2,3,4,5,6-pentafluorphenyl)-porphyrin (PtTFPP), titania particles and poly(isobutyl methacrylate) (polyIBM) was characterized to elucidate the degradation mechanism. Applying a two-gate lifetime-based method, the PC-PSP has sufficient pressure and temperature sensitivities even at 100 °C, while the luminescence intensity significantly decreases during the test. Subsequent measurements on thermal and photostability as well as luminescence spectra reveal that the main cause of the degradation is the photodegradation of PtTFPP due to direct exposure of the dye molecules to the atmosphere. In order to suppress such degradation, a small amount of urethane resin is added to the dye solution as a simple additional step in the preparation of PC-PSP. The addition of the urethane resin significantly reduces the degradation of the PSP, although its time response is slightly slower than that of the standard PC-PSP.

RESUMO

The temperature sensor presented in this paper is based on a microwave dielectric resonator, which uses alumina ceramic as a substrate to survive in harsh environments. The resonant frequency of the resonator is determined by the relative permittivity of the alumina ceramic, which monotonically changes with temperature. A rectangular aperture etched on the surface of the resonator works as both an incentive and a coupling device. A broadband slot antenna fed by a coplanar waveguide is utilized as an interrogation antenna to wirelessly detect the sensor signal using a radio-frequency backscattering technique. Theoretical analysis, software simulation, and experiments verified the feasibility of this temperature-sensing system. The sensor was tested in a metal-enclosed environment, which severely interferes with the extraction of the sensor signal. Therefore, frequency-domain compensation was introduced to filter the background noise and improve the signal-to-noise ratio of the sensor signal. The extracted peak frequency was found to monotonically shift from 2.441 to 2.291 GHz when the temperature was varied from 27 to 800 °C, leading to an average absolute sensitivity of 0.19 MHz/°C.

RESUMO

To explore the mechanism of inhibiting spontaneous combustion of coal by mixed gases, the low-temperature oxidation characteristics of coal under different components of mixed gases were analyzed. ESR and FTIR experiments were used to investigate the effects of different gas mixtures on the activity of coal during low-temperature oxidation and the oxidation reaction of coal surface functional groups. The mechanism of chemical oxygen inhibition of mixed gas was studied by density functional theory. The results show that the larger the CO2 component in the mixed gas, the higher the ability to inhibit coal oxidation. The concentration of free radicals in coal under dry air condition is higher than that under inert mixed gas condition during oxidation heating at 30-230 °C. The oxidation ability of -CH3, -OH and oxygen-containing functional groups in the mixed gas reaction is inhibited. Through quantum chemistry calculation, it is found that the mixed gas increases the activation energy of free radicals and reduces the heat release of the reaction. This study provides theoretical reference for coal mine thermal disaster.

RESUMO

Traditional silicon-based pressure sensors cannot meet demand of pressure information acquisition in high-temperature extreme environments due to their low sensitivity, limited detection temperature and complex processing. Herein, a capacitive pressure sensor is fabricated using polymer-derived SiCN ceramics with convex microstructures via a sample replication strategy. Its performance is measured at different pressures (0-800 kPa) from room temperature to 500 °C. The results show that the SiCN ceramic capacitive pressure sensor exhibits low hysteresis, good non-linearity of 0.26 %, outstanding repeatability and high sensitivity of 0.197 pF/MPa under room temperature. When the test temperature reaches 500 °C, the performance of the prepared capacitive pressure sensor has no degradation, keeping competent sensitivity of 0.214 pF/MPa and nonlinear error of 0.24 %. Therefore, benefitting from the preeminent high-temperature properties, e.g., excellent oxidation/corrosion resistance and thermal stability, SiCN ceramics capacitive pressure sensors have great potential in the application of high-temperature and harsh environments.

RESUMO

Objective: Menstrual disorders induced by high-temperature environments, can seriously damage women's reproductive health and workability. The regulation mechanism underlying it is not yet to be elucidated. Saliva is an information-rich biological fluid that can reflect systemic diseases. Here, we investigated the characteristics of menstrual cycle disorders and saliva metabolomics to provide a deeper insight of the regulation mechanism of young women in high-temperature environments. Methods: Women from high and normal temperature areas of China were selected and divided into two groups-high-temperature (H group) and control (C group). A questionnaire survey was conducted in summer (July) to investigate the incidence rate of menstrual disorders, characteristics of the disorders, and factors influencing the risk of these disorders in different regions. Metabolomics was applied to analyze the characteristics of the salivary metabolites and neurotransmitters in the two groups of women with menstrual disorders. Results: The incidence rate of menstrual disorders was significantly higher in the H group than that in the C group (p < 0.05). High-temperature environment, stress, and sleep quality were identified as critical factors associated with menstrual disorders. Non-targeted saliva metabolomics identified 64 significantly different metabolites between two groups, which mainly enriched in metabolic pathways such as carbohydrate metabolism, membrane transport, digestive system, and nucleotide metabolism (p < 0.05). N-acetylneuraminic acid, MYO, and tyramine may be candidate markers for early diagnosis of menstrual disorders in high temperature environments. Metabolites may be involving in the acute-phase response during an inflammatory process, to affecting the reproductive system by influencing the HPA axis loop. Regulations about oocyte membrane production and the luteal functions would be exerted in menstrual disorders. Targeted metabolomics of neurotransmitters revealed increased expression of histamine (HA) and glutamine and decreased expression of 5-hydroxyindole acetic acid (5-HIAA) (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Menstrual disorder characteristics induced by high temperature environments were specific. Anxiety, sleep quality and temperature feeling were the key factors to the menstrual disorder. endocrine regulation mechanism and inflammatory reactions might contribute to the development of menstrual disorders through influencing the formation of the follicular cell membrane.

RESUMO

Fire and extreme heat environmental changes can have an impact on concrete performance, and as climate change increases, new concrete structures are being developed. Nano-silica and nano-calcium carbonate have shown excellent performances in modifying concrete due to their large specific surface areas. This review describes the changes in concrete modified with nano-silica (NS) and nano-calcium carbonate (NC), which accelerate the hydration reaction with the cementitious materials to produce more C-S-H, resulting in a denser microstructure and improved mechanical properties and durability of the concrete. The mechanical property decay and visualization of deformation of mixed NS and NC concrete were tested by exposure to high temperatures to investigate the practical application of mixed composite nanomaterials (NC+NS) to concrete. The nano-modified concrete had better overall properties and was heated at 200 °C, 400 °C, 600 °C and 800 °C to relatively improve the mechanical properties of the nano concrete structures. The review concluded that high temperatures of 800 °C to 1000 °C severely damaged the structure of the concrete, reducing the mechanical properties by around 60%, and the dense nano concrete structures were more susceptible to cracking and damage. The high temperature resistance of NS and NC-modified nano concrete was relatively higher than that of normal concrete, with NC concrete being more resistant to damage at high temperatures than the NS samples.

RESUMO

The hydration process and compressive strength and flexural strength development of sulphate-resistant Portland cement (SRPC) curing at 20 °C, 40 °C, 50 °C, and 60 °C were studied. In addition, MIP, XRD, SEM, and a thermodynamic simulation (using Gibbs Energy Minimization Software (GEMS)) were used to study the pore structure, the types, contents, and transformations of hydration products, and the changes in the internal micro-morphology. The results indicate that, compared with normal-temperature curing (20 °C), the early compressive strength (1, 3, and 7 d) of SRPC cured at 40~60 °C increased by 10.1~57.4%, and the flexural strength increased by 1.8~21.3%. However, high-temperature curing was unfavorable for the development of compressive strength and flexural strength in the later period (28~90 d), as they were reduced by 1.5~14.6% and 1.1~25.5%, respectively. With the increase in the curing temperature and curing age, the internal pores of the SRPC changed from small pores to large pores, and the number of harmful pores (>50 nm) increased significantly. In addition, the pore structure was further coarsened after curing at 60 °C for 90 d, and the number of multiple harmful pores (>200 nm) increased by 17.9%. High-temperature curing had no effect on the types of hydration products of the SRPC but accelerated the formation rate of hydration products. The production of the hydration products C-S-H increased by 13.5%, 18.6%, and 22.8% after curing at 40, 50, and 60 °C for 3 d, respectively. The stability of ettringite (AFt) reduced under high-temperature curing, and its diffraction peak was not observed in the XRD patterns. When the curing temperature was higher than 50 °C, AFt began to transform into monosulfate, which consumed more tricalcium aluminate hydrate and inhibited the formation of "delayed ettringite". Under high-temperature curing, the compactness of the internal microstructure of the SRPC decreased, and the distribution of hydration products was not uniform, which affected the growth in its strength during the later period.

RESUMO

Seasonal influenza is an acute viral infection caused by influenza virus, which is often prevalent in the summer and winter. The influenza virus can infect pigs and poultry. Some literature reports that the influenza virus has an outbreak in summer. The summer climate is characterized by a high humidity and high temperature environment, which is the same as many animal feeding and growing environments. We established a flu animal model under a high temperature and humidity environment during the day to observe the impact of high humidity and high temperature environment on the mice after contracting the influenza virus. Our results indicate that the intestinal flora of 16 s rDNA cultured in High humidity and high temperature environment changes, the intestinal mucosal permeability increases, the expression of pIgR, sIgA, and IgA in the intestinal mucosal immune system decreases, and the NLR immune recognition signaling pathway NOD1 is activated. The expression of related genes such as NOD2, NF-κB, and pIgR increases, which leads to the increase of related inflammatory factors in the vicinity of the intestines, aggravating local inflammation. High humidity and high temperature environment can cause the expression of inflammatory cytokines in the body to rise, causing Th17/Treg immune imbalance, inhibiting Treg maturation and differentiation, and increasing the expression of IL-2, IL-6, and other cytokines, while the expression of IFN-γ and IL-17A decreases. This condition worsens after infection with the influenza virus. Overall, our study found that High humidity and high temperature environment affect the intestinal flora and the body's immune status, thereby aggravating the status of influenza virus infection.

RESUMO

(1) In order to improve the properties of antifriction and wear resistance of polyimide (PI) composite under high temperature conditions, (2) 3-Aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES) and Lanthanum (La) salt modifications were employed to manufacture poly-p-phenylenebenzobisoxazole (PBO)/PI composites with different interface properties. The representative ambient temperatures of 130 and 260 °C were chosen to study the friction and wear behavior of composites with different interface properties. (3) Results revealed that while both modification methods can improve the chemical activity of the surface of PBO fibers, the La salt modification is more effective. The friction coefficient of all composites decreases with the increase of sliding velocity and load at two temperatures, and the specific wear rate is increases. Contrary to the situation in the 130 °C environment, the wear resistance of the unmodified composite in the 260 °C environment is greatly affected by the sliding velocity and load, while the modified composites are less affected. Under the same test parameters, the PBO-La/PI composite has the lowest specific wear rate and friction coefficient, and (4) La salt modification is a more effective approach to improve the properties of antifriction and wear resistance of PI composite than APTES modification in high ambient temperatures.

RESUMO

In summer, the high temperature affects animal growth and reproductive performance. Curcumin is a flavonoid with anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. To evaluate the effects of dietary curcumin supplement on the blood biochemical parameters and testicular gene expressions in Hu sheep in summer, a total of 144 male Hu sheep aged four months were randomly divided into three groups (Con, Cur1, and Cur2, n = 48). Sheep in Con, Cur1, and Cur2 groups were fed a basal diet supplement with 0, 450, and 900 mg (per sheep) curcumin daily, respectively. Sheep were fed for 35 days, including a pre-feed for seven days. The results showed that the supplement with 450 mg and 900 mg curcumin increased serum free fatty acid (NEFA) and glutathione peroxidase (GPX), as well as IgA and IgM. The supplement with 450 mg curcumin increased the IgG level, while the supplement with 900 mg curcumin had a lower IgG level than the supplement with 450 mg curcumin (p < 0.05). Dietary curcumin supplement increased testicular organ index, serum testosterone level, and testicular star mRNA expression (p < 0.05). Furthermore, dietary curcumin supplement linearly inhibited testicular apoptosis with increased testicular bcl-2 mRNA expression and decreased caspase-3 mRNA expression (p < 0.05). In conclusion, dietary curcumin supplement can promote lipid metabolism, antioxidant capacity, and immune response, as well as testicular development, in Hu sheep, which provides evidence of application of curcumin in sheep production.
