RESUMO

A presente dissertação é resultado de uma pesquisa sobre a relação Infância, Trabalho e Saúde. Utilizando a Análise de Discurso como estratégia metodológica, analisou o que o discurso oficial (leis, políticas) especifica sobre a participação da infância no mundo do trabalho para compreender como se inscreve, se materializa e se produz, neste discurso, representações e práticas referentes à infância e ao trabalho. A Revolução Industrial britânica no século XIX, dado a relevante participação da infância nas principais atividades produtivas e a proclamação de importantes leis trabalhistas, foi considerada o marco temporal inicial desta pesquisa que evidenciou mudanças nos sentidos do trabalho de crianças que, antes considerado necessário, veio a se tornar proibido no século seguinte. Contudo, a despeito da proibição e dos esforços pela erradicação do trabalho infantil, estima-se que 168 milhões de crianças no mundo ainda estejam em situação de trabalho, sendo 86 milhões naqueles considerados o trabalho em suas piores formas, o que indica a necessidade de outras análises e perspectivas que se voltem para a complexidade das questões relacionadas ao tema. Verificou-se, nesta pesquisa, que o processo discursivo de proibição do trabalho infantil - apesar de seus objetivos enunciados de proteção das crianças - apresenta elementos ideológicos que conformam a infância enquanto categoria sem participação ativa na estrutura social e que denota o trabalho como algo inerentemente prejudicial...

ABSTRACT

The present dissertation is the result of a research about the relations of Childhood, Workand Health. Utilizing Discourse Analysis as a methodological strategy, it was analysedwhat the official speech (laws, policies) specify about childhood participation in worksystem to understand how it is enrolled, materialized and produced, in this speech,practical representations concerning childhood and work. The British IndustrialRevolution of the 19th century, given the relevant participation of childhood on mainproductive activities and the proclamation of important labour laws, was considered theinitial time frame for this research which divulged changes on the meanings of childlabour which, before considered necessary, came to be prohibited on the followingcentury. However, despite the prohibition and the efforts in favour of child laboureradication, it is estimated that 168 million children around the world are still found on work situation, being 86 million considered on work in its worst states, whichindicates necessity of another analysis and perspectives that address the complexity of thequestions related to the theme. It was ascertained, in this research, that the discursiveprocess of prohibition of child labour - despite its enunciated goals of child protection– exhibit idealogical elements that conform childhood as category without activeparticipation on the social structure and denotes work as something inherently baneful...
