RESUMO

O objetivo do presente trabalho foi desenvolver um estudo de correlação entre infestação predial por Aedes aegypti e indicadores sociais nos bairros do Município de Juiz de Fora, visando testar a hipótese de que não há correlação entre infestação predial por Aedes aegypti e indicadores sociais no município. O método de pesquisa empregado foi uma adaptação do delineamento epidemiológico ecológico. Observou-se a existência de correlação inversamente proporcional entre infestação predial pelo mosquito Aedes aegypti e renda média domiciliar mensal nos bairros da cidade de Juiz de Fora. Tal correlação se explica pelo fato de que os bairros da cidade com menor renda média domiciliar mensal são aqueles com maior acúmulo de lixo, onde, muitas vezes, faltam tampas nas caixas de água, em que a água pode estar sendo armazenada em latões e tambores sem proteção, entre outros fatores, que facilitam a reprodução do mosquito Aedes aegypti.

ABSTRACT

The objective of this work was to develop a study on the correlation between building infestation by Aedes aegypti and social indicators for neighborhoods in the city of Juiz de Fora, MG, aiming to test the hypothesis that there is no correlation between building infestation by Aedes aegypti and social indicators in the city. The research method used was an adaptation of the ecological epidemiological design. The existence of an inversely proportional correlation was noted between building infestation by the Aedes Aegypti mosquito and average monthly household income in the neighborhoods of the city of Juiz de Fora. This correlation has been explained by the fact that the neighborhoods of the city with a lower average monthly household income are those with a greater accumulation of garbage, often with lids missing from household water storage tanks, where water can be stored in unprotected water drums, and other factors that facilitate the life cycle and reproduction of the mosquito Aedes aegypti.
