[Treatment of closed fractures of the shin external fixation.]. / Lécení zavrených zlomenin zevní fixací

ABSTRACT

In their communication the authors present a method used for the treatment of closed fractures of the shin by the method of external osteosynthesis, its indication criteria and the actual technique of operation. Open reduction is the method of choice in cases of early treatment of instable fractures of the shin with a good condition of skin cover and other soft tissues. Closed reduction is the method of choice in those patients the treatment of which is postponed (by more than 3 weeks) and in fresh injuries combined with a more extensive damage of soft tissues associated with oedema of the extremity often with a segmental type of fracture. For a very suitable method the authors consider the combination of internal miniosteosynthesis by a compression screw with neutralization external esteosynthesis.
