RESUMO
Se presentan las pautas para la planificación, organización y operación de los servicios de imaginología y radioterapia en la estrategia de desarrollo de los sistemas locales de salud (SILOS), tomando en cuenta las características de su nuevo contexto tecnológico, político, financiero y organizacional. Además se revisan y reexaminan definiciones, conceptos y principios en los cuales se ha basado la organización general de los servicios. Esta publicación esta dirigida a profesionales en ciencias de la salud, especialmente en el área de radiológia y también el físico médico, profesional relativamente nuevo en el área de la salud, al sector político involucrado en el proceso, además de administradores y planificadores

Introduction: Quality Management (QM) principles generally have not been applied to multi-casualty and disaster situations. Quality management dincorporates quality assurance (QA) and quality improvement (QI) supported by a management information system (MIS), Since responders to disasters and multi-casuality incidents generally operate on standing orders and/or protocols the character of the responses lends itself to quality management methods. Objectives: 1) to format disaster medical records as data colletion instruments 2) to develop appropriate tools that are easy to use for rapid assessments 3) to develop a mechanism for determibnation of causes of injuries and 4) to develop methods to a)track patients b) document response and recovery and c)document the circumstances assocated. Results: Testing indicated that the check-lists are completed in less than one minute, and produce objective data per patient each functional area evaluated . In one instance, data were compiled for 38 patients from one bus accident in less than 10 minutes. The same data were reproduced without variation, in the same amount of time by three different providers of varied professional backgrounds (AU)

La preocupación por la toxicidad de los productos volátiles de la combustión (Pvc) ha movido a ISO a publicar dos documentos -ISO 9122 e ISO 13344- El primero comprende una serie de trabajos técnicos detallados, mientras que el segundo es más normativo, siendo más fácil de adaptar a las exigencias legales o reglamentarias al utilizar el soporte técnico del anterior. Ambos documentos ISO tratan sobre la toxicidad de la combustion, principalmente desde un punto de vista de ensayos de laboratorio (AU)

This paper presents an analysis of a measured acceleration record at Miyagawa bridge, the first seismically isolated bridge in Japan. Amplification of the peak acceleration is examined between the deck, pier and ground motions. Seismic isolation effect can be clearly observed. Dynamic response analysis using the analytical model adopted for seismic design is made assuming the acceleration recorded at underground as the input ground motion. Response acceleration computed at the deck is quite similar with the measured acceleration although peak acceleration is larger in the analysis.(AU)

At the present time, at least in the United States, seismic isolation system are custom designed and built on a per project basis. As a result, testing has become an essential element in the design and construction od isolated structures. Currently, however, standards do not exist for conducting these much needed tests. The building and Fire Reaearch Laboratory of the National Institute of Standards and Technology is currently developing guidelinesd for testing of seismic isolation systems. Presented in the paper is a brief summary/outline of the guidelines. The guidelines address pre-qualification, prototype and quality control testing, are applicable to all types of isolation systems and are independent of the superstructure. The final guidelines are to serve as a resource document for voluntary standard/specification writing organizations, and for practitioners and researchers involved in the design, manufactures and testing of seismic isolation systems.(AU)

El ejercicio de la ingeniería en Colombia se ve enfrentado hoy, 1993, al reto que implica construir obras con calidad. Durante muchos años el sector se ha desarrollado ajeno a los últimos avances administrativos, siempre con una visión netamente técnica, que se refleja en el ambiente de las empresas, en sus relaciones con sus proveedores y sus clientes, y en muchos otros aspéctos, Pero hoy, cuando nuestro país de enfrenta a fenómenos como la apertura, la descentralización y modernización del Estado, es necesario mirar con una nueva optica la ingeniería nacional, teniendo la calidad como punto de referencia. Esta mirada crítica hacia el interior de la profesión genera una gran cantidad de inquietudes: ¿Será posible crear una cultura de la calidad dentro del ejercicio de la ingeniería?, ¿Qué consecuencias tendría esta nueva cultura en actividades como la promoción, el diseño, la construcción, la interventoría y el mantenimiento de obras de ingeniería?, ¿Qué cambios se deben generar dentro de las empresas y cómo liderarlos?. Esta ponencia muestra el panorama administrativo de las obras de ingeniería en nuestro país y las posibilidades de aplicación de las técnicas de calidad en el medio (AU)

Active control research for structures against large environmental loads has received considerable attention in recent years. Large-scale laboratory experimentation and the development of full-scale active protective systems have taken place in the area of building structures. For bridge applications, however, the feasibility of using active control has been limited to studies of analytical and simulation nature. In this paper, three case studies of active bridge control are summarized in order to provide added impetus to conducting more in-depth studies of active control as a possible protective systems principle for bridges against earthquakes and other environmental loads.(AU)
