RESUMO
The syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone (SIADH) secretion has been described in a wide range of neurological and other disorders. We wish to add an extremely rare case of a solitary, large invasive neurofibroma of the sixth cranial nerve extensively destroying the sella turcica in the skull base and causing inappropriate secretion of antidiuretic hormone in a 44-year-old black man in the absence of neurofibromatosis. A unique case of sporadic concurrence of von Recklinghausen's neurofibromatosis parentage and normal family background is described. The pathogenetic aspects of this rare phenomenon are discussed. It is suggested that such an unusual concurrence is the result of spontaneous genetic mutation (AU)

A 25-year-old female with von Recklinghausen's neurofibromatosis presented with symptoms suggestive of carcinoma of the cervix. She was, however, found to have neurofibromas of the cervix uteri which accounted for her symptoms. There was also involvement of one or the other system (AU)

A rare case of pregnancy in a patient with von Recklinghausen's disease and disability due to childhood poliomyellitis is presented. The interesting but serious complication was the sudden onset of haemorrhage in the tumours which treated satisfactorily with conservation management. Posible complications are discussed and the literature on the subject is reviewed (AU)
