Expert meeting on protecting investments in health and maximizing new opportunities to advance health equity and well-being: 15 November 2018, Venice, Italy

The Expert Meeting on Protecting Investments in Health and Maximizing New Opportunities to Advance Health Equity and Well-being was held in Venice, Italy on 14–15 November 2018. The meeting sought to provide guidance for the continued work on the economic and social impact of health systems within the WHO Regional Office for Europe. It also aimed to strengthen the evidence on the impact of health systems, as well as their relationship with improving equity and sustainability and with national and local development policies.

Childhood and adolescence are critically important stages of life for the mental health and well-being of individuals, not just because this is when young people develop autonomy, self control, social interaction and learning, but also because the capabilities formed in this period directly influence their mental health for the rest of their lives. Negative experiences – such as family conflict at home or bullying at school – can have enduring damaging effects on the development of core cognitive and emotional skills.

Руководство по соблюдению этических принципов при реализации Стратегии по ликвидации ТБ

Стратегия всемирной организации здравоохранения (воз) по ликвидации туберкулеза (тб) полностью вписывается в рамки целей устойчивого развития (цУр). Обе стратегии требуют должного внимания к справедливости, правам человека и этике. Фактически, принцип “защита прав человека, этика и справедливость” является одним из четырех ключевых принципов стратегии воз по ликвидации тб. Повестка дня цУр сама по себе вдохновлена простым девизом: “не оставить никого без внимания”. Обеспечить, чтобы эти основополагающие принципы направляли реализацию стратегии воз по ликвидации тб необходимо, особенно если учесть, что во всем мире тб широко распространен среди наиболее уязвимых и маргинализированных групп населения. Соблюдать эти принципы на местах не всегда легко, поскольку при реализации стратегии пациенты, общины, работники здравоохранения и другие, заинтересованные в ликвидации тб стороны сталкиваются с конфликтами и даже этическими дилеммами. Данное руководство направлено на решение этой очень сложной проблемы. Оно является результатом работы людей принадлежащих к различным группам населения, и экспертов в разных областях знаний. Это те, кто участвует в реализации национальных программ борьбы с тб, представители гражданского общества, затронутые лица и сообщества, а также эксперты в области общественного здравоохранения, этики, медицинского законодательства и прав человека.

Human health in areas with industrial contamination

In recent years, increasing attention has been focused on the health implications of large industrial establishments. Studying human health in areas with industrial contamination is complex. The aim of this book is to outline a framework for integrated assessment of the impacts of large industrial activities.The framework is supported by examples related to the adverse effects on environment and health of petrochemical industries, based on the results of a research project carried out in Sicily, southern Italy, by the WHO Regional Office for Europe. The Sicilian case studies provide examples of methods for estimating the adverse effects on health of petrochemical activities in highly contaminated areas and for developing strategies and tools for integrating health considerations in the formulation of policies and rehabilitation plans. This book is intended to contribute to the analysis of high-risk areas, by providing a review of the evidence, study design options, legislation, and results on the adverse impacts on health of industrial activities. It will be a valuable resource for all those concerned about the health implications of industrial sites, be they residents, workers, public administrators or other stakeholders.
