RESUMO

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, this guidance provides information on infection and prevention control (IPC), vaccination, community preparedness, selfcare for wellbeing, and transitioning from acute pandemic response to sustained management of COVID-19. This guidance is for older people, caregivers of older people, and policy-makers responsible for health and long-term care (LTC) services. A facility where older people receive care (including LTC facilities, non-acute care facilities, home care services, etc.) should practice IPC and improve physical and mental well-being of older people. Community members and policy-makers should strengthen their efforts in promoting self-care, use of IT, community-based care and age-friendly environment for older people. Adapting to life with COVID-19 and staying safe over the long-term, communities should develop a plan for sustained management of COVID-19, recognize people's health as an integral infrastructure, and support older people to stay healthy, thrive, and age-in-place.

RESUMO

There is compelling evidence of the direct relationship between salt consumption and blood pressure. WHO is coordinating initiatives globally to reduce dietary salt intake at the population level. Fundamental to this initiative is for countries to estimate a baseline of population-level dietary salt intake, and from there, to monitor trends in intake and the effectiveness of any interventions within and between populations. This document provides an essential salt intake measurement tool for countries in the Eastern Mediterranean Region that want to start, contribute to and share information on dietary salt reduction initiatives. The protocol is primarily intended for principle investigator(s) of studies of salt/sodium, potassium and iodine intake. Parts of the document are also intended for field staff who are conducting the surveys
