RATIONALE AND OBJECTIVES: Neurological complications associated with coronavirus disease (COVID-19) have been reported in children; however, data on neuroimaging findings remain limited. This study aimed to comprehensively examine neuroimaging patterns of COVID-19 in children and their relationship with clinical outcomes. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This retrospective cross-sectional study involved reviewing the medical records and MRI scans of 95 children who developed new neurological symptoms within 2-4 weeks of clinical and laboratory confirmation of COVID-19. Patients were categorized into four groups based on guidelines approved by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Initial brain/spinal MRI was performed. Images were reviewed by three blinded radiologists, and the findings were analyzed and categorized based on the observed patterns in the brain and spinal cord. Follow-up MRI was performed and analyzed to track lesion progression. RESULTS: Encephalopathy was the most common neurological symptom (50.5%). The most common initial MRI involvement patterns were non-confluent multifocal hyperintense white matter (WM) lesions (36.8%) and ischemia (18.9%). Most patients who underwent follow-up MRI (n = 56) showed complete resolution (69.9%); however, some patients developed encephalomalacia and myelomalacia (23.2% and 7.1%, respectively). Non-confluent hyperintense WM lesions were associated with good outcomes (45.9%, P = 0.014), whereas ischemia and hemorrhage were associated with poor outcomes (44.1%, P < 0.001). CONCLUSION: This study revealed diverse neuroimaging patterns in pediatric COVID-19 patients. Non-confluent WM lesions were associated with good outcomes, whereas ischemia and hemorrhage were associated with poorer prognoses. Understanding these patterns is crucial for their early detection, accurate diagnosis, and appropriate management.

RATIONALE AND OBJECTIVES: Recently, a new MRI-based classification for evaluating tibial spine fractures (TSFs) was developed to aid in treating these injuries. Our objective was to assess the detection efficacy, classification accuracy, and reliability of this classification in detecting and grading TSFs, as well as its impact on treatment strategy, compared to the Meyers and McKeever (MM) classification. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A retrospective study included 68 patients with arthroscopically confirmed TSFs. All patients had plain radiography and conventional MRI of the affected knee before arthroscopy. Three experienced radiologists independently reviewed all plain radiographs and MRI data and graded each patient according to MM and MRI-based classifications. The detection efficacy, classification accuracy, and inter-rater agreement of both classifications were evaluated and compared, using arthroscopic findings as the gold standard. RESULTS: The final analysis included 68 affected knees. Compared to the MM classification, the MRI-based classification produced 22.0% upgrade of TSFs and 11.8% downgrade of TSFs. According to the reviewers, the fracture classification accuracy of the MRI-based classification (91.2-95.6%) was significantly higher than that of the MM classification (73.5-76.5%, p = 0.002-0.01). The fracture detection rate of MRI-based classification (94.1-98.5%) was non-significantly higher than that of the MM classification (83.8-89.7%, p = 0.07-0.4). The soft tissue injury detection accuracy for MRI-based classification was 91.2-94.1%. The inter-rater reliability for grading TSFs was substantial for both the MM classification (κ = 0.69) and MRI-based classification (κ = 0.79). CONCLUSION: MRI-based classification demonstrates greater accuracy and reliability compared to MM classification for detecting and grading TSFs and associated soft tissue injuries.

A systematic study is currently demonstrated approach for approving the superior role of silver and palladium metallic particles in acting the role of mordant with acquiring the dyed cotton fabrics excellence in color fastness with additional functions of antimicrobial potentiality and UV-protection action. Whereas, samples were dyed with extract of red peanuts skin as natural textile colorant (RPN dye). The represented data revealed that, in absence of mordant, the samples treated with metal precursors prior to dyeing were exhibited with the excellent color strength, color fastness, antimicrobial action and UV-protection action. Color fastness (washing, rubbing and light fastness) was estimated to be in the range of very good-excellent. Sample pretreated with silver salt and dyed in the absence of mordant was graded with excellent UV-protection action (UPF 31.5, UVB T% 2.6% and UVB blocking percent 97.4%). Antimicrobial potency against E. coli, S. aureus and Candida albicans through inhibition zone and the reduction percent was approved to be in the range of excellence (93.01-99.51%) for the samples dyed in absence of mordant and pretreated with either silver or palladium precursors.

The building construction materials are responsible for a large amount of energy and natural resource consumption. In light of the current challenges of resource scarcity and global climate change, the circular economy (CE) is a promising strategy to mitigate pressure on the environment, improve supplying of raw materials, and increase new market and employment opportunities. Developing eco-friendly thermal insulation materials based on agro-waste is a new waste management trend to achieve the sustainability of the resource and energy consumption in the construction sectors. In this work, banana-polystyrene composites were prepared by mixing the banana peels powder (BP) with polystyrene (PS) in different weight ratios (90:10, 80:20, 70:30, and 60:40). The physical and thermal properties such as thermal conductivity, electrical conductivity, Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), crystallographic structures of the fibers, X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA), and Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) were carried out on BP and BP-PS1 that were prepared with ten wt.% and 20 wt.% of polystyrene powder (BP-PS2). The bio-composites results showed low thermal conductivity ranging from 0.028 to 0.030 W/m.K. The BP-PS2 exhibited a lower thermal conductivity of 0.027 W/m.K, while the pure peel powder demonstrated notable thermal stability, indicated by a total weight loss of 66.4% and a high crystallinity value of 56.1%. Furthermore, the thermal analysis (TGA) and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) demonstrated that the pure banana peel has the highest thermal stability and crystallinity. These findings indicate that using banana peel-polystyrene composites represents an innovative solution for thermal insulation in buildings as an alternative to conventional materials to reduce energy and resource consumption.

Spraying a tertiary blend of the insecticides (hexythiazox, imidacloprid, and thiamethoxam), on tomato fruits, is a routine in agriculture-attentive countries. A simple green sample preparation technique was developed and applied to the field samples. Specific HP-TLC and RP-HPLC methodologies are established to estimate the residual insecticides and applied to the prepared field specimens. In the planner chromatographic methodology, methanol:chloroform:glacial acetic acid:triethyl amine (8.5:1.5:0.2:0.1, v/v) is recommended as a mobile system. The other one is columnar chromatography; acetonitrile: water (20:80, v/v), pH 2.8, is recommended as a mobile system. The validation parameters were examined following the ICH rules. The means percentages and standard deviations of the accuracy of the HP-TLC method for the determined compounds were 99.66 ± 0.974, 99.41 ± 0.950, and 99.89 ± 0.983, correspondingly. The values were 99.24 ± 0.921, 99.69 ± 0.681, and 99.20 ± 0.692, correspondingly, when they were determined by the RP-HPLC method. The relative standard deviation percentages of the methods' repeatability and intermediate precision ranged from 0.389 to 0.920. Both methods were highly specific having resolution factors of ≥ 1.78 and selectivity factors of ≥ 1.71. They were applied to the field samples perfectly.

Plant hybridization is an important breeding technique essential for producing a genotype (hybrid) with favorable traits (e.g., stress tolerance, pest resistance, high yield potential etc.) to increase agronomic, economic and commercial values. Studying of genetic dominance among the population helps to determine gene action, heritability and candidate gene selection for plant breeding program. Therefore, this investigation was aimed to evaluate gene action, heritability, genetic advance and heterosis of rice root, agronomic, and yield component traits under water deficit conditions. In this study, crossing was performed among the four different water-deficit tolerant rice genotypes to produce better hybrid (F1), segregating (F2) and back-cross (BC1 and BC2) populations. The Giza 178, WAB56-204, and Sakha104 × WAB56-104 populations showed the better physiological and agronomical performances, which provided better adaptability of the populations to water deficit condition. Additionally, the estimation of heterosis and heterobeltiosis of some quantitative traits in rice populations were also studied. The inheritance of all studied traits was influenced by additive gene actions. Dominance gene actions played a major role in controlling the genetic variance among studied traits in both crossed populations under well-watered and drought conditions. The additive × additive type of gene interactions was essential for the inheritance of root length, root/shoot ratio, 1,000-grain weight, and sterility % of two crossed populations under both conditions. On the contrary, the additive × dominance type of gene interactions was effective in the inheritance of all studied traits, except duration in Giza178 × Sakha106, and plant height in Sakha104 × WAB56-104 under water deficit condition. In both crosses, the dominance × dominance type of gene interactions was effective in the inheritance of root volume, root/shoot ratio, number of panicles/plant and 1,000-grain weight under both conditions. Moreover, dominance × dominance type of gene interaction played a major role in the inheritance of root length, number of roots/plant, plant height, panicle length, number of filled grain/panicle and grain yield/plant in Giza178 × Sakha106 under both conditions. The studied traits in both crossed populations indicated better genetic advance as they showed advanced qualitative and quantitative characters in rice populations under water deficit condition. Overall, our findings open a new avenue of future phenotypic and genotypic association studies in rice. These insights might be useful to the plant breeders and farmers for developing water deficit tolerant rice cultivars.

Herein, a distinctive dihydroxy ionic liquid ([Py-2OH]OAc) was straightforwardly assembled from the sonication of pyridine with 2-chloropropane-1,3-diol by employing sodium acetate as an ion exchanger. The efficiency of the ([Py-2OH]OAc as a promoter for the sono-synthesis of a novel library of condensed products through DABCO-catalyzed Knoevenagel condensation process of adequate active cyclic methylenes and ninhydrin was next investigated using ultimate greener conditions. All of the reactions studied went cleanly and smoothly, and the resulting Knoevenagel condensation compounds were recovered in high yields without detecting the aldol intermediates in the end products. Compared to traditional strategies, the suggested approach has numerous advantages including mild reaction conditions with no by-products, eco-friendly solvent, outstanding performance in many green metrics, and usability in gram-scale synthesis. The reusability of the ionic liquid was also studied, with an overall retrieved yield of around 97% for seven consecutive runs without any substantial reduction in the performance. The novel obtained compounds were further assessed for their in vitro antitumor potential toward three human tumor cell lines: Colo-205 (colon cancer), MCF-7 (breast cancer), and A549 (lung cancer) by employing the MTT assay, and the findings were evaluated with the reference Doxorubicin. The results demonstrated that the majority of the developed products had potent activities at very low doses. Compounds comprising rhodanine (5) or chromane (12) moieties exhibited the most promising cytotoxic effects toward three cell lines, particularly rhodanine carboxylic acid derivative (5c), showing superior cytotoxic effects against the investigated cell lines compared to the reference drug. Furthermore, automated docking simulation studies were also performed to support the results obtained.

Selenium nanoparticles (SeNPs) have attracted considerable attention globally due to their significant potential for alleviating abiotic stresses in plants. Accordingly, further research has been conducted to develop nanoparticles using chemical ways. However, our knowledge about the potential benefit or phytotoxicity of bioSeNPs in rapeseed is still unclear. Herein, we investigated the effect of bioSeNPs on growth and physiochemical attributes, and selenium detoxification pathways compared to sodium selenite (Se (IV)) during the early seedling stage under normal and salt stress conditions. Our findings showed that the range between optimal and toxic levels of bioSeNPs was wider than Se (IV), which increased the plant's ability to reduce salinity-induced oxidative stress. BioSeNPs improved the phenotypic characteristics of rapeseed seedlings without the sign of toxicity, markedly elevated germination, growth, photosynthetic efficiency and osmolyte accumulation versus Se (IV) under normal and salt stress conditions. In addition to modulation of Na+ and K+ uptake, bioSeNPs minimized the ROS level and MDA content by activating the antioxidant enzymes engaged in ROS detoxification by regulating these enzyme-related genes expression patterns. Importantly, the main effect of bioSeNPs and Se (IV) on plant growth appeared to be correlated with the change in the expression levels of Se-related genes. Our qRT-PCR results revealed that the genes involved in Se detoxification in root tissue were upregulated upon Se (IV) treated seedlings compared to NPs, indicating that bioSeNPs have a slightly toxic effect under higher concentrations. Furthermore, bioSeNPs might improve lateral root production by increasing the expression level of LBD16. Taken together, transamination and selenation were more functional methods of Se detoxification and proposed different degradation pathways that synthesized malformed or deformed selenoproteins, which provided essential mechanisms to increase Se tolerance at higher concentrations in rapeseed seedlings. Current findings could add more knowledge regarding the mechanisms underlying bioSeNPs induced plant growth.

BACKGROUND: Sulphasalazine (SZ) is a prodrug. Its active metabolite (mesalazine, MZ), which is also available in pharmaceutical formulations, and the major active metabolite of MZ (N-acetyl-5-aminosalicylic acid, AS) are commonly used for the treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases. OBJECTIVE: Two accurate, precise, sensitive, and specific spectrophotometric methods were developed and validated for determination of the studied components. METHODS: The first method is a modified ratio difference spectrophotometric method. In this method, SZ was determined by measuring the peak area from 410-500 nm, while MZ and AS were determined by measuring the difference of the selected amplitude values. The second method is a mean centering of ratio spectra spectrophotometric method. RESULTS: The developed methods were linear over the concentration ranges of 2-35, 2-30 and 1-25 µg/mL for SZ, MZ and AS, respectively. CONCLUSION: The developed methods were validated according to International Conference on Harmonization guidelines. They were successfully applied for determination of studied analytes. A greenness assessment was undertaken using three different tools. HIGHLIGHTS: Spectrophotometric methods were developed for determination of SZ and its related compounds for the first time. They were designated to be green and eco-friendly and their greenness profiles were evaluated using green solvents to keep the environment clean.

Water pollution by pharmaceuticals is currently a great concern due to their ecological risks. In this study, zirconium-based metal-organic frameworks (UiO-66-(COOH)2) were used for removal of the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) diclofenac sodium (DCF). They have been synthesized using a hydrothermal method. Copper and iron metal ions were incorporated in the framework using post-synthetic modification techniques to produce UiO-66-(COOCu)2 and UiO-66-(COOFe)2. The resulted MOFs were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), scanning/transmission electron microscopy, and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller. The effects of the pH, initial concentration, and adsorption time on the adsorption process of diclofenac were studied. The maximum adsorption capacities obtained on UiO-66-(COOH)2, UiO-66-(COOCu)2, and UiO-66-(COOFe)2 were 480.5, 624.3, and 769.1 mg/g, respectively. The adsorption of diclofenac was found to be better fitted with Langmuir isotherm and pseudo-second-order kinetic models. The adsorption mechanism was investigated using XRD, FT-IR, density functional theory and Monte Carlo simulation, in which the latter method was used to calculate the adsorption energies and determine the possible interactions between diclofenac and the adsorbents. UiO-66-(COOH)2, UiO-66-(COOCu)2, and UiO-66-(COOFe)2 exhibited good recyclability for diclofenac removal, which confirms the sustainability of these materials.

OBJECTIVE: Spontaneous Bacterial Peritonitis (SBP) is one of the most serious liver cirrhosis with ascites complications. Vitamin D (Vit D) deficiency has been associated with a high risk of infection and mortality in cirrhotic patients. Herein, the assessment of Vit D level as a prognostic marker in SBP patients and the impact of Vit D supplementation on their treatment plan was studied as well. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Ascetic patients with SBP and Vit D deficiency were divided randomly into treatment and control groups. The control group received standard treatment without Vit D and the treatment group received standard treatment plus Vit D. Clinical monitoring of Vit D was done over 6 months. RESULTS: At baseline, all patients in both groups revealed an elevated serum and ascetic TLC, AST, ALT, total and direct bilirubin, in addition to elevation in INR and procalcitonin (PCT) level. Univariate regression analysis confirmed that deficiency of Vit D was an independent predictor of infection and mortality (p < 0.01; Crude Hazard Ratio: 0.951). Over 6 months, the study revealed significant improvement in serum Vit D level in the treatment group (34.6 ± 9.2 and 18.3 ± 10.0 ng/mL; p < 0.001). Moreover, a statistically significant increase in survival rate (64% vs. 42%; p < 0.05) and duration (199.5 days vs. 185.5 days; p < 0.05) were recorded as well. Univariate and multivariate regression analysis confirmed that Vit D supplementation was positively correlated to survival over 6 months (p < 0.001; Adjusted Hazard Ratio: 0.895). CONCLUSIONS: Vit D deficiency is prevalent in SBP cirrhotic patients and is used as an independent predictor of infection and death. Therefore, Vit D supplementation revealed improvement in their response to treatment.

Direct-acting antivirals (DAAs) are used for hepatitis C virus (HCV) treatment. However, treatment failure and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) development following treatment was reported. In this study, we assessed the role of serum vitamin D, interleukin 13 (IL-13), and microRNA-135a in the prediction of treatment failure with DAA and HCC development among Egyptian HCV-infected patients. A total of 950 patients with HCV-related chronic liver disease underwent DAA treatment. Before DAAs, serum vitamin D and IL-13 were determined by ELISA, and gene expression of miRNA-135a was assessed in serum by real-time PCR. The predictive abilities of these markers were determined using the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. Sustained virological response (SVR) was achieved in 92.6% of HCV-infected patients (responders). High viral load, IL-13, miRNA-135a, and low vitamin D levels were associated with treatment failure and HCC development. HCC development was recorded in non-responders, but not in the responders (35.7% vs. 0% p < 0.001). In conclusion: serum IL-13, Vitamin D, and miRNA-135a could be potential biomarkers in monitoring DAA treatment and HCC prediction. DAAs-induced SVR may decrease the incidence of HCC.

One-carbon (1C) metabolism has a key role in metabolic programming with both mitochondrial (m1C) and cytoplasmic (c1C) components. Here we show that activating transcription factor 4 (ATF4) exclusively activates gene expression involved in m1C, but not the c1C cycle in prostate cancer cells. This includes activation of methylenetetrahydrofolate dehydrogenase 2 (MTHFD2) expression, the central player in the m1C cycle. Consistent with the key role of m1C cycle in prostate cancer, MTHFD2 knockdown inhibited prostate cancer cell growth, prostatosphere formation, and growth of patient-derived xenograft organoids. In addition, therapeutic silencing of MTHFD2 by systemically administered nanoliposomal siRNA profoundly inhibited tumor growth in preclinical prostate cancer mouse models. Consistently, MTHFD2 expression is significantly increased in human prostate cancer, and a gene expression signature based on the m1C cycle has significant prognostic value. Furthermore, MTHFD2 expression is coordinately regulated by ATF4 and the oncoprotein c-MYC, which has been implicated in prostate cancer. These data suggest that the m1C cycle is essential for prostate cancer progression and may serve as a novel biomarker and therapeutic target. SIGNIFICANCE: These findings demonstrate that the mitochondrial, but not cytoplasmic, one-carbon cycle has a key role in prostate cancer cell growth and survival and may serve as a biomarker and/or therapeutic target.

BACKGROUND: The Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) recently published a chest CT classification system and Dutch Association for Radiology has announced Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) reporting and data system (CO-RADS) to provide guidelines to radiologists who interpret chest CT images of patients with suspected COVID-19 pneumonia. This study aimed to compare CO-RADS and RSNA classification with respect to their sensitivity and reliability for diagnosis of COVID-19 pneumonia. RESULTS: A retrospective study assessed consecutive CT chest imaging of 359 COVID-19-positive patients. Three experienced radiologists who were aware of the final diagnosis of all patients, independently categorized each patient according to CO-RADS and RSNA classification. RT-PCR test performed within one week of chest CT scan was used as a reference standard for calculating sensitivity of each system. Kappa statistics and intraclass correlation coefficient were used to assess reliability of each system. The study group included 359 patients (180 men, 179 women; mean age, 45 ± 16.9 years). Considering combination of CO-RADS 3, 4 and 5 and combination of typical and indeterminate RSNA categories as positive predictors for COVID-19 diagnosis, the overall sensitivity was the same for both classification systems (72.7%). Applying both systems in moderate and severe/critically ill patients resulted in a significant increase in sensitivity (94.7% and 97.8%, respectively). The overall inter-reviewer agreement was excellent for CO-RADS (κ = 0.801), and good for RSNA classification (κ = 0.781). CONCLUSION: CO-RADS and RSNA chest CT classification systems are comparable in diagnosis of COVID-19 pneumonia with similar sensitivity and reliability.

OBJECTIVE: The American College of Radiology (ACR) recently published the ovarian-adnexal reporting and data system (O-RADS) to provide guidelines to physicians who interpret ultrasound (US) examinations of adnexal masses (AM). This study aimed to compare the O-RADS with two other well-established US classification systems for diagnosis of AM. METHODS: This retrospective multicenter study between May 2016 and December 2019 assessed consecutive women with AM detected by the US. Five experienced consultant radiologists independently categorized each AM according to O-RADS, gynecologic imaging reporting and data system (GI-RADS), and international ovarian tumor analysis (IOTA) simple rules. Pathology and adequate follow-up were used as reference standards for calculating the validity of three US classification systems for diagnosis of AM. Kappa statistics were used to assess the inter-reviewer agreement (IRA). RESULTS: A total of 609 women (mean age, 48 ± 13.7 years; range, 18-72 years) with 647 AM were included. Of the 647 AM, 178 were malignant and 469 were benign. Malignancy rates were comparable to recommended rates by previous literature in O-RADS and IOTA, but higher in GI-RADS. O-RADS had significantly higher sensitivity for malignancy than GI-RAD and IOTA (p = 0.003 and 0.0007, respectively), but non-significant slightly lower specificity (p > 0.05). O-RADS, GI-RADS, and IOTA showed similar overall IRA (κ = 0.77, 0.69, and 0.63, respectively) with a tendency toward higher IRA with O-RADS than with GI-RADS and IOTA. CONCLUSIONS: O-RADS compares favorably with GI-RADS and IOTA. O-RADS had higher sensitivity than GI-RADS and IOTA simple rules with relatively similar specificity and reliability. KEY POINTS: ⢠The malignancy rates were comparable to recommended rates by previous literature in O-RADS and IOTA, but higher in GI-RADS. ⢠The O-RADS had significantly higher sensitivity for malignancy than GI-RADS and IOTA (96.8% vs 92.7% and 92.1%; p = 0.003 and 0.0007, respectively), but non-significant slightly lower specificity (92.8% vs 93.6% and 93.2%, respectively; p > 0.05). ⢠The O-RADS, GI-RADS, and IOTA showed similar overall inter-reviewer agreement (IRA) (κ = 0.77, 0.69, and 0.63, respectively), with a tendency toward higher IRA with O-RADS than with GI-RADS and IOTA.

Vinburnine (VNB) is a vinca alkaloid used as a vasodilator to enhance cerebral circulatory insufficiency. It is a cyclic amide containing drug which is expected to be sensitive to hydrolytic degradation. The degradation profile of VNB was studied in this work following ICH recommendations for stability study. The drug was sensitive only to degradation with NaOH with the formation of the carboxylic acid derivative, identified by IR and 1H NMR analyses as 2-((1S,12bS)-1-ethyl-1,2,3,4,6,7,12,12b-octahydroindolo[2,3-a] quinolizin-1-yl) acetic acid, (DEG). In this study five simple, smart and univariate stability indicating spectrophotometric methods were developed and validated for simultaneous determination of VNB and DEG for the first time. The developed methods include; Dual Wavelength Method (DWM), Dual Wavelength Resolution Method (DWRM), Factorized Absorbance Difference Method (FADM), Advanced Absorbance Subtraction Method (AASM), and Derivative Amplitude Factor Method (DAFM). These methods were capable of determination of VNB and DEG over the ranges of 1-30 and 3-50 µg/mL, respectively. The proposed methods were simple, smart, specific, and could be applied for analyzing synthetic mixtures of VNB and DEG and were successfully applied for determination of the drug in commercially available capsules. The obtained results of these methods were statistically compared with the reported HPLC one using student's-t and F- tests, where no significant difference was observed. Validation of the developed methods was applied according to ICH recommendations and all the results were within the acceptable limits.

Background: Olanzapine (OLZ) is one of most recommended drugs for the treatment of schizophrenia while metformin (MET) is the most commonly used hypoglycemic agent. Aim: Development and validation of two green, sensitive and accurate chromatographic methods for the simultaneous determination of OLZ along with the co-prescribed, MET. Materials & methods: TLC-densitometric method with a developing system consisting of methylene chloride:methanol:ethyl acetate:triethylamine (4:4:5:0.1, by volume) and a reversed-phase (RP)-HPLC method where the chromatographic separation was performed using ethanol:water mixture (50: 50, v/v) as a mobile phase. Results: TLC-densitometric method had linearity over concentration ranges of 160-4000 ng/band for OLZ and 150-4500 ng/band for MET, while RP-HPLC method was linear and validated over concentration range of 300-20000 ng/ml for OLZ and MET. Conclusion: Pharmacokinetic study was successfully performed and suggested the possibility of co-administration of MET with OLZ and their further formulation in one pharmaceutical preparation to enhance patient's compliance.
