Purpose: Evaluating the clinical efficacy and safety of microwave ablation combined with percutaneous osteoplasty (MWA + PO group) versus percutaneous osteoplasty (PO group) for the treatment of flat bone metastases. Methods: Patients with flat bone metastases and intractable pain who underwent PO and/or MWA from January 2016 to January 2023 in our hospital were included, with 36 cases in the MWA+PO group and 21 cases in the PO group. Changes in the visual analog scale (VAS), Oswestry Disability Index (ODI), and quality of life assessment scale(QOL) were evaluated regularly. Postoperative complications and target lesion tumor treatment responses were also observed. Results: The VAS and ODI in both the MWA+PO group and the PO group significantly decreased at 1 week, 1 month, and 3 months postoperatively, The VAS and ODI in the MWA+PO group were lower than those in the PO group postoperatively. The QOL in both the MWA+PO group and the PO group significantly increased at 1 week, 1 month, and 3 months postoperatively, with the QOL in the MWA+PO group being higher than that in the PO group postoperatively. According to the mRECIST criteria (target lesion tumor treatment response), the ORR in the MWA+PO group and PO group was 52.8% and 9.5%, respectively, while the DCR was 94.4% and 57.1%, respectively (P <0.001 and<0.001). Different degrees of bone cement extravasation were observed in both the PO group (38.1%) and MWA+PO group(19.4%)(χ²=2.38, P=0.12), but none of the patients developed clinical symptoms related to bone cement extravasation. The average cost of surgery was ¥10,480.43 higher in the MWA+PO group than in the PO group. Conclusion: The MWA+PO treatment is more effective in relieving patients' local pain, improving local dysfunction, and enhancing quality of life, and can effectively improve target lesion tumor ORR and DCR, but it is also more costly.

Viral circRNAs play important roles in host-virus interactions. Previous reports showed that grass carp reovirus (GCRV) encodes 32 circRNAs, and circ_20 from the negative strand of GCRV genome segment 7 has the potential to regulate GCRV replication. However, the regulatory mechanism of circ_20 on GCRV remains unknown. In this study, circ_20 was further validated, and circ_20 negatively regulated ERS, the PERK pathway, and ROS production in GCRV-infected cells. Furthermore, circ_20 inhibited the PERK pathway by forming a ternary complex with BIP and PERK, resulting in delaying GCRV replication. RNA pull-down results indicated that the 51-102 nt region of circ_20 interacts with BIP, while the 451-502 and 514-565 nt regions interact with PERK. After the deletion of these interaction regions, the ability of circ_20 to promote BIP-PERK interaction decreases, leading to a decrease in the ability to inhibit GCRV proliferation. These findings uncovered new insights into the complex interplay between viruses and host cells and provided a novel understanding of the significance of viral circRNAs in virus-host interactions.

Bombyx mori cypovirus (BmCPV), a member of the Reoviridae family, is a well-established research model for double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) viruses with segmented genomes. Despite its small genome size, the coding potential of BmCPV remains largely unexplored. In this study, we identified a novel small open reading frame within the S10 dsRNA genome, encoding a small viral peptide (VSP59) with 59 amino acid residues. Functional characterization revealed that VSP59 acts as a negative regulator of viral replication. VSP59 predominantly localizes to the cytoplasm, where it interacts with prohibitin 2 (PHB2), an inner membrane mitophagy receptor. This interaction targets mitochondria and triggers caspase 3-dependent apoptosis. Transient expression of vsp59 in BmN cells suppressed viral replication, an effect that was reversed by silencing PHB2 expression. Moreover, recombinant BmCPV with a mutated vsp59 exhibited reduced replication. Our findings demonstrate that VSP59 interacts with PHB2 on mitochondria, inducing apoptosis and thereby diminishing viral replication. This study expands our understanding of the genetic information encoded by the BmCPV genome and highlights the role of novel small peptides in host-virus interactions. IMPORTANCE: A novel small open reading frame (sORF) from the viral genome was identified and characterized. The sORF could encode a small viral peptide (VSP59) that targeted mitochondria and induced prohibitin 2-related apoptosis, further attenuating Bombyx mori cypovirus replication.

This research was intended to compare the clinical efficacy of hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy (HAIC) in conjunction with lenvatinib and PD1 inhibitors to first-line systemic chemotherapy for advanced intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma(ICC). The research enrolled advanced ICC patients who underwent HAIC plus lenvatinib and PD1 inhibitor(n = 51) or first-line systemic chemotherapy(cisplatin + gemcitabine, n = 39) between July 2020 to January 2023 in Zhongshan People's Hospital.Their clinical outcomes were assessed through measurement of parameters encompassing objective response rate (ORR), disease control rate (DCR), median overall survival (mOS), median progression-free survival (mPFS), median duration of response (mDOR), and treatment-related adverse events (TRAEs). In accordance with the RECIST1.1, the ORR in the HAIC + L + P and SC groups was 43.1% and 20.5%, while the DCR was 90.2% and 69.2%, respectively (P = 0.04 and = 0.02, respectively). The change in the maximum diameter of intrahepatic target lesions in patients before and after treatment and the diameter of intrahepatic tumors in the HAIC + L + P group were sharply smaller versus the SC group ( P < 0.001). The HAIC + L + P group had prolonged mOS (16.8 months vs. 11.0 months, P = 0.01) and mPFS (12.0 months vs. 6.9 months, P < 0.01) in comparison with the SC group. Compared to first-line systemic chemotherapy(cisplatin + gemcitabine), HAIC plus lenvatinib and PD-1 inhibitors contributes to improvement of tumor response and prolongation of OS and PFS in advanced ICC patients.

Introduction: Spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage is the second most common subtype of stroke. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the risk factors affecting the prognosis of patients with basal ganglia cerebral hemorrhage after neuroendoscopy. Methods: Between January 2020 and January 2024, 130 patients with basal ganglia cerebral hemorrhage who underwent neuroendoscopy were recruited from two independent centers. We split this dataset into training (n = 79), internal validation (n = 22), and external validation (n = 29) sets. The least absolute shrinkage and selection operator-regression algorithm was used to select the top 10 important radiomic features of different regions (perioperative hemorrhage area [PRH], perioperative surround area [PRS], postoperative hemorrhage area [PSH], and postoperative edema area [PSE]). The black hole, island, blend, and swirl signs were evaluated. The top 10 radiomic features and 4 radiological features were combined to construct the k-nearest neighbor classification (KNN), logistic regression (LR), and support vector machine (SVM) models. Finally, the performance of the perioperative hemorrhage and postoperative edema machine learning models was validated using another independent dataset (n = 29). The primary outcome is mRS at 6 months after discharge. The mRS score greater than 3 defined as functional independence. Results: A total of 12 models were built: PRH-KNN, PRH-LR, PRH-SVM, PRS-KNN, PRS-LR, PRS-SVM, PSH-KNN, PSH-LR, PSH-SVM, PSE-KNN, PSE-LR, and PSE-SVM, with corresponding areas under the curve (AUC) values in the internal validation set of 0.95, 0.91, 0.94, 0.52, 0.91, 0.54, 0.67, 0.9, 0.72, 0.92, 0.92, and 0.95, respectively. The AUC values of the PRH-KNN, PRH-LR, PRH-SVM, PSE-KNN, PSE-LR, and PSE-SVM in the external validation were 0.9, 0.92, 0.89, 0.91, 0.92, and 0.88, respectively. Conclusion: The model built based on computed tomography images of different regions accurately predicted the prognosis of patients with basal ganglia cerebral hemorrhage treated with neuroendoscopy. The models built based on the preoperative hematoma area and postoperative edema area showed excellent predictive efficacy in external verification, which has important clinical significance.

Background: The global COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted critical concerns surrounding mental health. Social isolation measures, such as the quarantine of incoming travelers, are essential public health strategies for the prevention and control of infectious diseases. However, quarantine can lead to adverse psychological outcomes, including feelings of confinement, boredom, perceived scarcity of supplies and information, financial hardship, and social stigma. This study aims to assess the mental states of quarantined individuals, investigate the factors affecting their mental well-being, and examine their coping mechanisms, with the objective of providing recommendations to enhance mental health in anticipation of future outbreaks, such as Disease X. Methods: We surveyed 327 individuals in quarantine from September 22, 2020 to January 9, 2021, collecting general demographic data and information related to COVID-19. Depression and anxiety were assessed using the PHQ-9 and GAD-7 scales, respectively, while stress coping was evaluated with a simplified version of the Cope scale. We analyzed the relationships between independent variables and mental health outcomes. Results: Among the individuals undergoing entry quarantine, 27.8% reported symptoms of depression, and 20.5% reported symptoms of anxiety. Students were more likely to experience depression compared to those with permanent jobs or no occupation. Significant risk factors for both depression and anxiety included pre-existing health conditions, lack of medical insurance, concerns about shortages of daily necessities during quarantine, and high scores for "guilt and self-blame." Additionally, participants who worried about the impact of the epidemic on their studies or work, and those with high scores for "denial," were more likely to exhibit depressive symptoms. On the other hand, participants who were concerned about potential rejection or discrimination from the outside world after quarantine were more prone to anxiety symptoms. Conclusion: Attention should be paid to the negative psychological reactions of the entry quarantined personnel, especially those with pre-existing health conditions, those without medical insurance, and students studying abroad. Accurate and effective epidemic dynamic information and preventive and control measures can be provided to the public to prevent fear and stigma against quarantined personnel.

Bfl-1, a member of the Bcl-2 family of proteins, plays a crucial role in apoptosis regulation and has been implicated in cancer cell survival and resistance to venetoclax therapy. Due to the unique cysteine residue in the BH3 binding site, the development of covalent inhibitors targeting Bfl-1 represents a promising strategy for cancer treatment. Herein, the optimization of a covalent cellular tool from a lead-like hit using structure based design is described. Informed by a reversible X-ray fragment screen, the strategy to establish interactions with a key glutamic acid residue (Glu78) and optimize binding in a cryptic pocket led to a 1000-fold improvement in biochemical potency without increasing reactivity of the warhead. Compound (R,R,S)-26 has a kinact/KI of 4600 M-1 s-1, shows <1 µM caspase activation in a cellular assay and cellular target engagement, and has good physicochemical properties and a promising in vivo profile.

Background: Diagnosing sternal wound infection (SWI) following median sternotomy remains laborious and troublesome, resulting in high mortality rates and great harm to patients. Early intervention and prevention are critical and challenging. This study aimed to develop a simple risk prediction model to identify high-risk populations of SWI and to guide examination programs and intervention strategies. Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data obtained from 6715 patients who underwent median sternotomy between January 2016 and December 2020. The least absolute shrink and selection operator (LASSO) regression method selected the optimal subset of predictors, and multivariate logistic regression helped screen the significant factors. The nomogram model was built based on all significant factors. Area under the curve (AUC), calibration curve and decision curve analysis (DCA) were used to assess the model's performance. Results: LASSO regression analysis selected an optimal subset containing nine predictors that were all statistically significant in multivariate logistic regression analysis. Independent risk factors of SWI included female [odds ratio (OR) = 3.405, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 2.535-4.573], chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (OR = 4.679, 95% CI = 2.916-7.508), drinking (OR = 2.025, 95% CI = 1.437-2.855), smoking (OR = 7.059, 95% CI = 5.034-9.898), re-operation (OR = 3.235, 95% CI = 1.087-9.623), heart failure (OR = 1.555, 95% CI = 1.200-2.016) and repeated endotracheal intubation (OR = 1.975, 95% CI = 1.405-2.774). Protective factors included bone wax (OR = 0.674, 95% CI = 0.538-0.843) and chest physiotherapy (OR = 0.446, 95% CI = 0.248-0.802). The AUC of the nomogram was 0.770 (95% CI = 0.745-0.795) with relatively good sensitivity (0.798) and accuracy (0.620), exhibiting moderately good discernment. The model also showed an excellent fitting degree on the calibration curve. Finally, the DCA presented a remarkable net benefit. Conclusions: A visual and convenient nomogram-based risk calculator built on disease-associated predictors might help clinicians with the early identification of high-risk patients of SWI and timely intervention.

Spider silk is a type of natural protein fiber with excellent toughness and tensile strength. The mechanical properties of chimeric silk have been improved by integrating the spider silk protein gene into the silkworm (Bombyx mori) genome, but this strategy requires a long time to produce genetically modified silkworms. In this study, to rapidly produce chimeric silkworms/spider silk with improved toughness and tensile strength, recombinant Autographa californica multiple nucleopolyhedrovirus (AcMNPV), AcMNPV-FHP-MaSp-G, harboring a full-length Trichonephila clavipes major ampullate spidroin G (MaSp-G) gene driven by the silkworm fibroin heavy chain (Fib-H) promoter, was constructed, in which the signal peptide sequence of the MaSp-G gene was replaced by the signal peptide sequence of the Fib-H gene. Western blot and LC-MS/MS results showed that MaSp-G was successfully expressed in the posterior silk gland of silkworm larvae infected with AcMNPV-FHP-MaSp-G and secreted into the cocoon. Mechanical property tests revealed that the average maximum breaking stress and the average maximum elastic strain of chimeric silkworms/spider silk were 497.867 MPa and 14.824%, respectively, which were 36.53% and 23.55% greater than those of silk produced by normal silkworms. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy revealed that the proportions of ß-sheets, α-helices, and ß-turns in the chimeric silk increased by 18.22%, 16.92%, and 18.72%, respectively. These results indicate that the mechanical properties of the chimeric silk produced by silkworms infected with AcMNPV-FHP-MaSp-G were significantly improved, which provides a new method for rapid production of chimeric silk in a genetically modified/genome-edited silkworm-independent manner.

As the contamination and enrichment in food chain of levofloxacin (LV) antibiotics have caused a significant threat to life safety, the instant detection of LV has become an urgent need. Here, a PDI-functionalized imine-based covalent organic framework (PDI-COF300) was prepared by the electrostatic self-assembly method as fluorescent probe for smartphone visual detection of LV, which exhibited excellent fluorescence quantum yield (82.68%), greater stability, high sensitivity with detection limit of 0.303 µM. Based on the results of molecular docking and Stern-Volmer equation, the LV detection by PDI-COF300 was mainly a static quenching process through π-π stacked hydrophobic interactions and fluorescence resonance energy transfer. Besides, PDI-COF300 was applied to LV detection in environmental medium and milk samples with recoveries from 85.56% to 108.34% and relative standard deviations <2.70%. This work also provided a new general strategy for using PDI-COF in smartphone devices and fluorescent papers for LV fluorescence detection and microanalysis.

On-chip optical power monitors are indispensable for functional implementation and stabilization of large-scale and complex photonic integrated circuits (PICs). Traditional on-chip optical monitoring is implemented by tapping a small portion of optical power from the waveguide, which leads to significant loss. Due to its advantages like non-invasive nature, miniaturization, and complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) process compatibility, a transparent monitor named the contactless integrated photonic probe (CLIPP), has been attracting great attention in recent years. The CLIPP indirectly monitors the optical power in the waveguide by detecting the conductance variation of the local optical waveguide caused by the surface state absorption (SSA) effect. In this review, we first introduce the fundamentals of the CLIPP including the concept, the equivalent electric model and the impedance read-out method, and then summarize some characteristics of the CLIPP. Finally, the functional applications of the CLIPP on the identification and feedback control of optical signal are discussed, followed by a brief outlook on the prospects of the CLIPP.

BACKGROUNDS: Pathological cardiac hypertrophy is considered one of the independent risk factors for heart failure, with a rather complex pathogenic machinery. Sorting nexins (SNXs), denoting a diverse family of cytoplasmic- and membrane-associated phosphoinositide-binding proteins, act as a pharmacological target against specific cardiovascular diseases including heart failure. Family member SNX5 was reported to play a pivotal role in a variety of biological processes. However, contribution of SNX5 to the development of cardiac hypertrophy, remains unclear. METHODS: Mice underwent transverse aortic constriction (TAC) to induce cardiac hypertrophy and simulate pathological conditions. TAC model was validated using echocardiography and histological staining. Expression of SNX5 was assessed by western blotting. Then, SNX5 was delivered through intravenous administration of an adeno-associated virus serotype 9 carrying cTnT promoter (AAV9-cTnT-SNX5) to achieve SNX5 cardiac-specific overexpression. To assess the impact of SNX5, morphological analysis, echocardiography, histological staining, hypertrophic biomarkers, and cardiomyocyte contraction were evaluated. To unravel potential molecular events associated with SNX5, interactome analysis, fluorescence co-localization, and membrane protein profile were evaluated. RESULTS: Our results revealed significant downregulated protein level of SNX5 in TAC-induced hypertrophic hearts in mice. Interestingly, cardiac-specific overexpression of SNX5 improved cardiac function, with enhanced left ventricular ejection fraction, fraction shortening, as well as reduced cardiac fibrosis. Mechanistically, SNX5 directly bound to Rab11a, increasing membrane accumulation of Rab11a (a Rab GTPase). Afterwards, this intricate molecular interaction upregulated the membrane content of low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 6 (LRP6), a key regulator against cardiac hypertrophy. Our comprehensive assessment of siRab11a expression in HL-1 cells revealed its role in antagonism of LRP6 membrane accumulation under SNX5 overexpression. CONCLUSIONS: This study revealed that binding of SNX5 with LRP6 triggers their membrane translocation through Rab11a assisting, defending against cardiac remodeling and cardiac dysfunction under pressure overload. These findings provide new insights into the previously unrecognized role of SNX5 in the progression of cardiac hypertrophy.

Spontaneous imbibition is the primary mechanism responsible for the enhanced oil production in a tight reservoir after hydraulic fracturing. In this article, a low-frequency artificial vibration physics stimulation method was employed to evaluate the effect of low-frequency vibration on imbibition recovery in tight sandstones. Furthermore, a high-precision in situ computed tomography (CT) scan was employed to investigate the effect of low-frequency vibration on the distribution of remaining oil micro-occurrence dynamic alterations in pore space. The findings of the study show that (1) low-frequency artificial physical vibration stimulation has been found to be highly effective in enhancing imbibition recovery in tight sandstone. The sensitivity of the vibration parameters on imbibition recovery from highest to lowest is vibration frequency, vibration intensity, and vibration time. The optimum vibration parameters for this process are a vibration frequency of 30 Hz, a vibration intensity of 2.0 m/s2, and a vibration time of 30 h. (2) Under the optimum low-frequency vibration, the imbibition recovery of tight sandstone with various physical properties can reach between 13.6 and 28.3%. This is remarkably higher than the spontaneous imbibition recovery, which ranges from 9.4 to 17.1%. Additionally, core samples with higher permeability and better pore structure show a more significant increase in imbibition recovery under the vibration treatment. Furthermore, low-frequency vibration stimulation effectively shortens the imbibition completion time, reducing the completion time from 81 h to approximately 55 h. (3) After the spontaneous imbibition process, the initial continuous oil phase present in the pore space is dispersed by the water phase imbibition process. The remaining oil is dominant in the form of a network type, which is concentrated in the central pore space area of the core. Low-frequency vibration treatment can effectively promote a positive imbibition process. The network remaining oil saturation in the core can be further dispersed, especially closer to the surface of the core area after frequency vibration treatment. Then, the cluster remaining oil type with a more dispersed and simpler individual structure has become the new dominant remaining oil micro-occurrence form in the pore space. The findings of this research investigate a novel technological approach to enhance the imbibition efficiency of a tight sandstone reservoir.

The indications for collagenase ointment (CO) and its efficacy are not clearly established in the treatment of second-degree burn wounds. To evaluate the efficacy of CO versus silver sulfadiazine ointment (SSD) in the treatment of second-degree burn wounds. A total of 170 eligible patients with deep second-degree burns, aged 18-65 years, with injuries occurring within 48-96 h, and having a total wound area of less than 30% of the total body surface area were included from 5 centers in China. The primary outcome was the wound healing time, and the secondary outcomes were the clearance time of wound necrotic tissues, wound healing rate, and wound inflammation. The study included 85 patients in SSD group and 84 in CO group in the modified intention-to-treat (mITT) population. The median time of wound healing was comparable in both groups (10 days vs. 10.5 days P = 0.16). The time for wound necrotic tissue removal was significantly shortened by CO compared with SSD (5 vs. 10 days P < 0.01). Wound inflammation, pain, wound healing rate, and scar were compared with SSD (all P-values > 0.05). No adverse events, such as infection or allergic reactions to the drugs and materials used, were reported. Both CO and SSD could heal the burn wounds at 10 days of treatment. However, CO significantly shortened the time of wound necrotic tissue removal by 5 days. Trial Registration: ChiCTR2100046971.

Antibiotic abuse is increasing the present rate of drug-resistant bacterial wound infections, producing a significant healthcare burden globally. Herein, we prepared a pH-responsive CMCS/PVP/TA (CPT) multifunctional hydrogel dressing by embedding the natural plant extract TA as a nonantibiotic and cross-linking agent in carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCS) and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) to prompt wound healing. The CPT hydrogel demonstrated excellent self-healing, self-adaptive, and adhesion properties to match different wound requirements. Importantly, this hydrogel showed pH sensitivity and exhibited good activity against resistant bacteria and antioxidant activity by releasing TA in case of bacterial infection (alkaline). Furthermore, the CPT hydrogel exhibited coagulant ability and could rapidly stop bleeding within 30 s. The biocompatible hydrogel effectively accelerated wound healing in a full-thickness skin defect model by thickening granulation tissue, increasing collagen deposition, vascular proliferation, and M2-type macrophage polarization. In conclusion, this study demonstrates that multifunctional CPT hydrogel offers a candidate material with potential applications for infected skin wound healing.

PURPOSE: Aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AHR), a crucial molecular marker associated with glioma, is a potential therapeutic target. We aimed to establish a non-invasive predictive model for AHR through radiomics. METHODS: Contrast-enhanced T1-weighted (T1W) MRI and the corresponding and clinical variables of glioblastoma patients from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and The Cancer Imaging Archive (TCIA) were obtained for analysis. KM curves and Cox regression analyses were used to assess the prognostic value of AHR expression. The radiomics features were screened by Max-Relevance and Min-Redundancy (mRMR) and recursive feature elimination (RFE), followed by the construction of two predictive models using logistic regression (LR) and a support vector machine (SVM). RESULTS: The expression levels of AHR in tumour patients were significantly higher than those in the control group, and higher AHR expression was associated with worse prognosis (P<0.05). AHR remained a risk factor for poor prognosis in glioblastoma after multivariate adjustment (HR: 1.61, 95% CI: 1.085-2.39, P<0.05). The radiomics models constructed using LR and SVM based on three selected features achieved area under the curve (AUC) values of 0.887 and 0.872, respectively. Radiomics score emerged as a key factor influencing overall survival (OS) after multivariate adjustment in the Cox model (HR: 3.931, 95% CI: 1.272-12.148, P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: The radiomics models could effectively distinguish the expression levels of AHR and predict prognosis in patients with glioblastoma, which may serve as a powerful tool to assist clinical assessment and precision treatment.

Sida rhombifolia (S. rhombifolia) is a widely used herbal plant for humans because of its antioxidant and antibacterial effects, but its potential use as a feed additive for livestock has not been investigated. Twenty 350 days-old Anyi tile-like grey chickens were randomly divided into a control group (fed basal diet) and a treatment group (fed basal diet + 3% of S. rhombifolia), and these chickens were feed for 31 days. Dietary S. rhombifolia remarkably enhanced plasma antioxidants, including the significantly increased total antioxidant capability (p < 0.01), catalase (p = 0.04), and superoxide dismutase (p < 0.01) in the treatment group. Furthermore, dietary S. rhombifolia also modulated chicken cecal microbiota, including an increased microbial diversity (Shannon, p = 0.03; Chao1, p = 0.03) in the treatment group. Regarding taxonomic analysis, 34 microbial taxa showed significant differences between the two groups. Meanwhile, the dominant phylum Actinobacteriota (p = 0.04), and dominant genera Desulfovibrio (p = 0.04) and Olsenella (p = 0.02) were significantly increased after treatment, whereas the pathogenic genus Escherichia-Shigella (p = 0.04) was significantly decreased after feeding S. rhombifolia. The results indicating that S. rhombifolia has potential for use as a natural plant feed additive for chickens.

Precise distance metrology and measurements play an important role in many fields of scientific research and industrial manufacture. Dual-comb laser ranging combines sub-wavelength ranging precision, large non-ambiguity range, and high update rate, making it the most promising candidate in precise distance metrology and measurements. However, previous demonstrations of dual-comb ranging suffer from short working distances, limited by the decoherence of lasers in interferometric schemes or by the low sensitivity of the photodetectors in response to the sparse echo photons. Here, we propose and demonstrate time-of-flight laser ranging with dual-comb nonlinear asynchronous optical sampling and photon counting by a fractal superconducting nanowire single-photon detector, achieving ranging precision of 6.2 micrometers with an acquisition time of 100 ms and 0.9 micrometers with an acquisition time of 1 s in measuring the distance of an outdoor target approximately 298 m away.

Prinsepia utilis seed oil (PUSO) is a natural medication obtained from Prinsepia utilis Rogle seed, which has been used for the treatment of skin diseases. The study aims to prepare ethosomes with high drug loading as a water-soluble transdermal vehicle to enhance the transdermal delivery of PUSO. PUSO-loaded ethosomes (PEs) were prepared using a cold method, and optimized by an orthogonal experimental design with entrapment efficiency (EE) as the dependent variable. The PEs prepared with the optimized formulation showed good stability, with a spherical shape under transmission electron microscopy (TEM), average particle size of 39.12 ± 0.85 nm, PDI of 0.270 ± 0.01, zeta potential of -11.3 ± 0.24 mV, and EE of 95.93 ± 0.43%. PEs significantly increased the skin deposition of PUSO compared to the PUSO suspension (P < 0.001). Moreover, the optimum formula showed significant ameliorative effects on ultraviolet B (UVB) irradiation-associated macroscopic and histopathological changes in mice skin. Therefore, PEs represent a promising therapeutic approach for the treatment of UVB-induced skin inflammation, with the potential for industrialization.

InGaN nanorods possessing larger and wavelength selective absorption by regulating In component based visible light photodetectors (PDs) as one of the key components in the field of visible light communication have received widespread attention. Currently, the weak photoelectric conversion efficiency and slow photoresponse speed of InGaN nanorod (NR) based PDs due to high surface states of InGaN NRs impede the actualization of high-responsivity and high-speed blue light PDs. Here, we have demonstrated high-performance InGaN NR/PEDOT:PSS@Ag nanowire (NW) heterojunction blue light photodetectors utilizing surface passivation and a localized surface plasmon resonance effect. The dark current is significantly reduced by passivating the InGaN NR surface states using PEDOT:PSS. The photoelectric conversion efficiency is significantly increased by increasing light absorption due to the electromagnetic field oscillation of Ag NWs. The responsivity, external quantum efficiency, detectivity, and fall/off time of the InGaN NR/PEDOT:PSS@Ag NW PDs are up to 2.9 A/W, 856%, 6.64 × 1010 Jones, and 439/725 µs, respectively, under 1 V bias and 420 nm illumination. The proposed device design presents a novel approach toward the development of low-cost, high-responsivity, high-speed blue light photodetectors for applications involving visible light communication.
