RESUMO

The article "Correlation between GDF15, MMP7 and gastric cancer and its prognosis", by L. Lu, G.-Q. Ma, X.-D. Liu, R.-R. Sun, Q. Wang, M. Liu, P.-Y. Zhang, published in Eur Rev Med Pharmacol Sci 2017; 21 (3): 535-541-PMID: 28239815 has been retracted by the Editor in Chief. Following some concerns raised on PubPeer (link: https://pubpeer.com/publications/C14F62B3ACFEA9BA5AFA33141DAFE0), the Editor in Chief has started an investigation to assess the validity of the results as well as possible figure manipulation. The authors have been informed about the journal's investigation but have remained unresponsive and have not provided the study's raw data. The journal investigation revealed a figure duplication between panels A and B of Figure 6. Consequently, the Editor in Chief mistrusts the results presented and has decided to retract the article. This article has been retracted. The Publisher apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause. https://www.europeanreview.org/article/12162.

RESUMO

Objective:To explore the effect of surgical treatment for OSA with laryngopharyngeal reflux(LPR). Method:A retrospective analysis was made in 42 patients diagnosed as moderate to severe OSA with LPR and treated with modified-coblation assisted Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty(M-CAUP). The results of PSG, reflux symptom index(RSI), reflux finding score(RFS) and 24-hour esophageal pH monitoring before and after operation were compared. Result:The AHI after operation was significantly lower than that before operation(P<0.05), and the average oxygen saturation and minimum blood pressure saturation were increased(P<0.05). The total scores of RSI and RFS after operation were lower than those before operation(P<0.05). The percentage of time of pH<4.0 in esophagus 24 hours after operation was lower than that before operation(P<0.05). Conclusion:For patients with moderate to severe OSA combined with LPR with oropharyngeal obstruction, surgical treatment can not only reduce airway stenosis and obstruction, but also improve the symptoms and signs of LPR.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To explore the correlation between GDF15, MMP7 and gastric cancer and its prognosis. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Thirty-six cases of gastric cancer admitted to our hospital from February 2014 to February 2015 were included in the observation group. Thirty-two healthy people were selected during the same period as the control group. The levels of MMP7 and GDF15 mRNA in the observation group before and after treatment and in the control group were detected by fluorescence quantitative PCR. The expressions of GDF15 and MMP7 proteins were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and Western-blotting analysis. The expression of GDF15 and MMP7 in gastric carcinoma were tested by immunohistochemistry assay. RESULTS: Compared with the control group, the levels of GDF15 and MMP7mRNA in the observation group were significantly increased in gastric cancer tissue before treatment (p<0.05). After treatment, there was no significant difference in the expressions of GDF15 and MMP7 mRNA in patients with significant improvement and the control group (p>0.05). Immunohistochemistry and Western blot results found that levels of GDF15 and MMP7 proteins in the observation group before treatment (14.28±1.03: 9.06±0.82 g/l) were significantly higher than that in the control group (1.05±0.21; 0.94±0.12 g/l). And there were no significant differences between patients with significant improvement (1.64±0.18; 1.03±0.22 mg/l) and the control group (p>0.05), while the levels in patients with no significant improvement (12.04±1.01; 8.21±0.65 mg/l) were significantly higher than that in the control group. Immunohistochemical results showed that the number of GDF15 and MMP7 positive cells in patients with significant improvement (10.32%; 9.01%) were significantly lower than that before treatment or in patients with no significant improvement (85.43%; 90.27%). CONCLUSIONS: There were significant correlations between GDF15, MMP7 and the incidence of gastric cancer. Levels of GDF15 and MMP7 in patients were significantly correlated with the degree of rehabilitation after treatment.

RESUMO

In this article, the plasma surface modification effects on the chemical, mechanical, and biological properties of electrospun poly (ε-caprolactone) (PCL) random nanofiber meshes (NFMs) were investigated by adjusting plasma chemistry, that is, using glow discharges of N(2) +H(2), NH(3) +O(2), and Ar+O(2) gas mixtures. The surface property changes of electrospun PCL NFMs after those plasma treatments were examined by water contact angle measurements and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The experimental results showed that the plasma treatments introduced polar groups onto the surfaces and thus increased the surface hydrophilicity. From tensile test data, plasma treatment had limited effect on the mechanical properties of PCL random NFMs. The biological properties of the plasma-treated PCL NFMs were examined by cell proliferation assays using mouse osteoblast cells (MC3T3-E1). It was found that the plasma-treated PCL NFMs gave a higher proliferation rate and improved cell adhesion properties as compared with the untreated controls.

RESUMO

We have recently described a method for radiolabeling monoclonal antibodies, with metallic radionuclides using a new chelating agent N2S3. Using this chelate the monoclonal antibodies Lym-1 and B72.3 were labeled with 186Re and their biological integrity was evaluated in vitro and in vivo. 186Re-labeled antibodies using N2S4 methodology were found to be stable in human serum and retained their immunoreactivity. Intravenous administration of 0.5 mCi 186Re-labeled antibodies resulted in partial or complete regression of tumor tissue in mice.
