Resumo
The fishery behavior of Sotalia fluviatilis guianensis, a common dolphin from Brazilian coast, was studied for eight years in the estuary of Cananéia, in the south of São Paulo State, southeastern Brazil. During this time, it was observed the dolphins making use of four tricks of fishery which helped the activity of the fishermen. On the other hand, it was registered that the dolphins take advantage from the utilization of the local traps for fishing ("cerco-fixo") by the fishermen.Ao longo de oito anos foram realizadas observações do comportamento de pesca do golfinho Sotalia fluviatilis guianensis na região do complexo estuarino-lagunar de Cananéia, sul do Estado de São Paulo. Durante as observações, registraram-se quatro estratégias de pesca que, quando utilizadas pelos golfinhos, beneficiavam indiretamente os pescadores locais. Foi constatado também que a utilização de cercos-fixos por parte da comunidade pesqueira tem beneficiado a atividade de pesca desta espécie de golfinho.
