Resumo
The municipality of Linhares, in the north of the state of Espírito Santo, harbors part of one of the largest forest blocks remaining in the Atlantic Forest. Notwithstanding, the chiropteran fauna of this region is still relatively little known. Recent research in the Reserva Natural Vale, which accounts for half of the forests within this block, resulted in noteworthy records that are reported here, increasing the bat list for the municipality of Linhares in 11 species and that for the state of Espírito Santo in three. Two species reported here, Tonatia saurophila and Saccopteryx bilineata, deserve particular attention because they have rarely been reported in the Atlantic Forest of Southeastern Brazil and may reach the southern limit of their distribution in this region. The bat list for the state of Espírito Santo now includes 70 species, 70% of which occur at the Reserva Natural Vale. This natural protected area can presently be recognized as the richest site for Chiroptera along all of the Atlantic Forest 50 species.O município de Linhares, no norte do estado do Espírito Santo, abriga parte de um dos maiores blocos florestais remanescentes na mata Atlântica. Não obstante, a quiropterofauna dessa região continua relativamente pouco conhecida. Pesquisas recentes realizadas na Reserva Natural Vale, que responde por cerca de metade das florestas do referido bloco, resultaram em notáveis registros que são aqui reportados, aumentando a lista do município em 11 espécies e a do estado em três. Duas das espécies aqui reportadas, Tonatia saurophila e Saccopteryx bilineata, merecem destaque pela raridade com que têm sido registradas na Mata Atlântica do sudeste do Brasil, onde parecem encontrar o limite sul de sua distribuição geográfica. A lista de morcegos do estado do Espírito Santo passa a incluir 70 espécies, 70% das quais já registradas na Reserva Natural Vale. Essa área natural protegida pode ser considerada atualmente o sítio com maior riqueza de quirópteros em toda a Mata Atlântica 50 espécies.
