Resumo
The aim of this research was to conduct a coproparasitological survey of endoparasites in dogs (Canis familiaris, Linnaeus, 1758) from the urban area of Bom Jesus City, State of Piaui. 26 fecal samples were collected from both male and female domestic dogs of different breeds, ages, tutors, and neighborhoods. The biological material was subjected to the techniques of fluctuation and spontaneous sedimentation. Among the 26 samples analyzed, 58,83% (14/26) were positive to gastrointestinal parasites. The endoparasites found in the dogs were Ancylostoma spp 42,3% (11/26), Dipylidium caninum 15,4% (4/26) and Toxocara spp. 11,5% (3/26). In conclusion, as found in the data, the dogs in the city of Bom Jesus - PI are infected with gastrointestinal parasites. These dogs, in turn, can be the source of infection to humans and the environment.(AU)
