Resumo
The author refers, in this work, to the first results obtained in an inquiry that he is doing about the tineae in the city of São Paulo (Brazil). The bearing that methodic research has on the knowledge of the problem can be apreciated, even at first sight, by the following fact: the number of tineae cases observed in six years at random in the dispensary was doubled in only four months of systematic search, the first four months of the inquiry in course. The 442 verifiedcases (437 humans and 5 animals) were thoroughly studied under the epidemiologic, clinic and mycologic points of view.O autor refere neste trabalho os primeiros resultados colhidos num inquérito que está realizando sobre as tinhas na cidade de São Paulo. A influência que a pesquisa metódica exerce sobre o conhecimento do problema pode ser avaliada, já à primeira vista, pela constatação do seguinte fato: o número de casos de tinha, observados durante 6 anos ao acaso da frequência de um ambulatório, foi elevado ao dobro em somente 4 meses de procura sistemática, os primeiros do inquérito em andamento. Os 442 casos verificados (437 humanos e 5 em animais) foram estudados minuciosamente sob os pontos de vista epidemiológico, clínico e micológico.
