Resumo

Due to the lack of pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic studies in anti-inflammatory drugs to wild birds, is very common to do the extrapolation of doses of mammals for certain species of birds such as parrots, macaws and others. However, it should be noted that birds have physiological and anatomical features that often are likely to interfere with the bioavailability of anti-inflammatory medications, such as a high metabolic rate when compared to mammals. Thus, this article aims to make a review of the inflammatory process and chemical mediators of inflammation; pharmacology of birds and finally, describe the anti-inflammatory drugs more employees in wild birds, their indications and adverse reactions. KEY-WORDS: Inflammation. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatories. Glucocorticoids.
