RESUMEN

The effect of triptolide( TP) on VEGFA,SDF-1,CXCR4 pathway were investigated in vitro to explore the mechanism in improving platelet activation in patients with ankylosing spondylitis( AS). Peripheral blood mononuclear cells( PBMC) were used for the experiment and divided into 4 groups: normal group( NC),model group( MC),triptolide group( TP),and AMD3100 group. The optimal concentration of TP was measured by the MTT method. The expressions of TNF-α,IL-1ß,IL-4,IL-10,VEGFA and VEGFR were detected by ELISA. The expressions of SDF-1,CXCR4 and VEGFA were detected by real-time quantitative PCR( RT-qPCR).The expressions of SDF-1,CXCR4,VEGFA and VEGFR were detected by Western blot. The expression levels of CD62 p,CD40 L and PDGFA were detected by immunofluorescence. MTT results showed that medium-dose TP had the strongest inhibitory effect on cells at24 h. The results of ELISA and PCR showed that TP inhibited mRNA expressions of IL-1ß,TNF-α,VEGFA,VEGFR and SDF-1,CXCR4 and VEGFA. The results of Western blot indicated that TP inhibited SDF-1,CXCR4 and VEGFA,VEGFR protein expressions; immunofluorescence results indicate that TP can inhibit the expressions of CD62 p,CD40 L,PDGFA. TP may regulate platelet activation by down-regulating SDF-1,CXCR4,VEGFA and VEGFR mRNA expressions, thereby down-regulating IL-1ß and TNF-αexpressions,and up-regulating the expressions of IL-4 and IL-10 cytokines.

RESUMEN

This paper aims to investigate the effect of oral administration of Tripterygium Glycosides Tablets combined with traditional Chinese medicine on immune inflammatory index in patients with rheumatoid arthritis,in order to explore the compatibility mode of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. Medical records of hospitalized patients with rheumatology at the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from June 2012 to December 2017 were collected. The combined administration of Tripterygium Glycosides Tablets and traditional Chinese medicine was adopted for the experimental group, while the simply administration of Tripterygium Glycosides Tablets were adopted for the control group. SPSS 21. 0 was used to analyze the changes of general conditions and immune inflammatory metabolic indexes in the two groups of RA patients. The association rules were analyzed by SPSS Clementine 14. 2 software Apriori module, and the random walk model was evaluated by ORACLE 10 g tool. The results showed that a total of 1 220 patients with rheumatoid arthritis met the requirements of this study, including 322 in the experimental group and 898 in the control group. Before treatment, there was no significant difference in age and duration between the two groups. The difference value of Ig A,Ig G,RF,CCP-AB,hs-CRP and ESR in the two groups of RA patients decreased before and after treatment, and the experimental group was superior to the control group in reduction of Ig A,Ig G,RF,CCP-AB,hs-CRP and ESR.The control group was superior to the experimental group in reduction of Ig M( P<0. 01 or P<0. 05). Compared with before treatment,ALT,AST,ALP,GGT,CREA,BUN,b-MG,MA,TRU and Ig U all increased, with statistically significant differences( P<0. 01).The UA of the two groups of RA patients decreased after treatment, with statistically significant differences( P<0. 01). The experimental group was superior to the control group in reduction of UA,with statistically significant differences( P < 0. 05 or P < 0. 01). The herbs adopted in the prescriptions of 1 220 patients were mainly classified into four categories, namely spleen-sweating herbs,blood-activating and stasis-relieving herbs, phlegm and phlegm-relieving herbs, and heat-clearing and antidote herbs. The results of association rule analysis indicated a significant correlation between the single-flavored Tripterygium Glycosides Tablets, oral Chinese medicine and immune inflammation, and improvement of liver and kidney function indexes. The results of the random walk model analysis indicated that the experimental group's Ig M and hs-CRP were superior to those of the control group in terms of random fluctuation maximum, walking positive growth rate, comprehensive evaluation index increasing rate, comprehensive improvement rate, comprehensive evaluation index recording times, and expected improvement value. The results of this study showed that the single administration of Tripterygium Glycosides Tablets can effectively improve the immune inflammatory metabolic index of patients with rheumatoid arthritis, and the combined administration of Tripterygium Glycosides Tablets and traditional Chinese medicine could alleviate the immune inflammatory index of RA patients and reduce liver and kidney dysfunction compared with simple oral administration. The comprehensive evaluation Ig M and hs-CRP in the group of combined administration of Tripterygium Glycosides Tablets and traditional Chinese medicine were better than those in the group of the Tripterygium Glycosides Tablets. There was a long-term correlation between the comprehensive evaluation index and the intervention measures of the two groups of patients.

RESUMEN

To evaluate the effect of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) invigorating spleen unit therapy on inflammatory markers of osteoarthritis(OA) patients by random walk model. The patient information was collected by the data processing system of medical records of the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. In-patient information of the department of rheumatology of the hospital between June 2012 and December 2016 was collected and summarized. Based on the use of traditional Chinese medicine decoction and hospital-prepared compound Qiyi Capsules(Xinfeng Capsules),the patients were divided into the unit therapy group and the simple endotherapy group. The random walk model was used to evaluate the effect of traditional Chinese medicine invigorating spleen unit therapy on TCM spleen therapy unit(ESR) and high sensitive C reactive protein(hs-CRP). A total of 3 517 cases of OA patients met the study requirements. The simple endotherapy group had 1 771 cases(50. 36%),while the unit therapy group had 1 746 cases(49. 64%). The baseline data analysis showed that the general information of the cases, the TCM oral intake frequency and the core prescription information had no statistically significant difference, with comparability. The unit therapy group showed the maximum ESR stochastic volatility at 924,walking step number of 1 771,forward walking growth rate at 0. 264 5,ratio at3. 78,random fluctuation power law at 0. 306 5± 0. 076 8,positive increase rate of comprehensive evaluation index at 0. 264 5,and comprehensive evaluation index record number of 1 771; whereas the simple endotherapy group showed the maximum ESR random fluctuation value at 478,walking step number of 1 399,forward walking growth rate at 0. 152 4,ratio at 6. 56,random fluctuation power law at 0. 347 4±0. 101 7,positive increase rate of comprehensive evaluation index at 0. 152 4,and comprehensive evaluation index record number of 1 399. The unit therapy group showed the maximum hs-CRP random fluctuation value at 391,walking step number of1 081,forward walking growth rate at 0. 178 1,ratio at 5. 62,random fluctuation power law at 0. 343 6±0. 094 7,positive increase rate of comprehensive evaluation index at 0. 178 1,and comprehensive evaluation index record number of 1 081; while the simple endotherapy groups showed the maximum hs-CRP random fluctuation value at 210,walking step number of 797,forward walking growth rate at0. 113 2,ratio at 8. 83,random fluctuation power law at 0. 382 6±0. 109,positive increase rate of comprehensive evaluation index at0. 113 2,and comprehensive evaluation index record number of 797. According to our department of rheumatism, there was a longrange correlation between the two groups in the comprehensive evaluation index and the intervention measures. TCM spleen strengthening unit therapy has a better effect in alleviating the inflammatory index of OA than traditional Chinese medicine.

RESUMEN

Objective: To investigate the Angiostrongylus cantonensis infection in rodents in Zhangzhou City and provide basis for control the disease. Methods: Eighteen villages in 4 counties, which located in coastal and mountain regions of rodent breeding, were selected between 2013-2015. Rodents were collected by cage trapping, and organs of heart and lungs were prepared for microscopic examination of A. cantonensis after identification of the species and age of the rodent. The infection rate was calculated and correlation between natural environment and the infection rate was analyzed. Results: A total of 1 551 rodents were collected and identified to be Rattus flavipectus, R. norvegicus, Sorex araneus, Mus musculus and R. lossea with a high-to-low ranking of R. flavipectus(41.8%), R. norvegicus(28.4%) and S. araneus(20.9%). The overall infection mice was 9.2%(142/1 551). The infection rates of R. norvegicus and R. flavipectus were 13.2%(58/441) and 11.4%(74/649) respectively, both significantly higher than that of Sorex araneusï¼»1.5%(5/323)], Mus musculusï¼»1.4%(1/74)] and R. losseaï¼»6.3%(4/63)] (P<0.05). The infection rate in the costal regions was 12.4%(83/668), significantly higher than that in the mountain regions(6.68%, 59/883)(χ2=15.083, P<0.05). Moreover, in contrast with the significant difference in the infection rate between hilly(9.2%, 46/499) and mountainous areas(3.4%, 13/384), there the infection rate showed no significant difference between coastal flatland(12.7%, 53/416) and coastal hilly areas(11.9%, 30/252) (χ2=2.264, P>0.05). In addition, 696 adult worms were found in 142 infected rodents. These worms mainly located in the pulmonary artery(94.3%), then and the heart (5.7%). There was also no significant difference in infection rate between male(9.2%, 73/795) and female rodents(9.1%, 69/756) (P>0.05). Conclusion: R. flavipectus and R. norvegicus are the important reservoir hosts for A. cantonensis in Zhangzhou. The infection rate in different species of rodents varies in different ecological environments.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the prevalence of Angiostrongylus cantonensis infection in snails for sale from Fuzhou and Xiamen of Fujian Province. METHODS: During 2009-2012, two markets and five restaurants from each city were selected as surveillance sites. A. cantonensis infection rate in Pomacea canaliculata, Bellamya aeruginosa and Cipangopaludina cathayensis was examined two times per month. More than 50 P. canaliculata or C. cathayensis, and about 500 g B. aeruginosa were collected in each site. A. cantonensis larvae infection was determined by lung-microscopy in P. canaliculata, and by tissue homogenate method in C. cathayensis and B. aeruginosa, respectively. RESULTS: In markets, a total of 5,744 P. canaliculata were collected, and the infection rate of A. cantonensis larvae was 13.8% (753/5 744) with the lowest prevalence in 2009 (8.4%, 28/334) and the highest one in 2011 (16.7%, 361/2,160). The overall infection rate of A. cantonensis showed an increasing trend over the past years (P < 0.05). In restaurants, 879 P. canaliculata snails were examined in Xiamen City, and the infection rate was 12.8% (877/6 879). No significant difference was found among years (P > 0.05). A. cantonensis larvae were found from P. canaliculata for sale in different seasons with no statistical difference (P > 0.05). 19,843 B. aeruginosa snails were collected in markets from the two cities, and the infection rate was 0.2% (31/19 843). The infection rate was highest in 2011 (0.3%, 16/5,953) and lowest in 2010 (0.04%, 2/4,706). All the 361 C. cathayensis snails were negative. CONCLUSION: A. cantonensis larvae are found in P. canaliculata and B. aeruginosa from markets and restaurants of Fuzhou and Xiamen in different seasons during the years.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the prevalent trend of soil-transmitted nematode infection in Fujian Province during the past 5 year surveillance and evaluate the control effect. METHODS: From 2006 to 2010, fecal samples of the inhabitants of 3 years old and above were collected every November and examined for intestinal helminth eggs by the modified Kato s thick smear technique at the 2 surveillance sites: Punan village of Zhangzhou and Gushan village of Shaowu. Cellophane tapes were used to detect pinworm eggs for children aged 3-12. Soil samples were also collected from vegetable field, lavatory, courtyard and kitchen of 20 randomly selected families (in 2 villages) each with stool egg-positive findings and examined for ascaris eggs by a modified saturated sodium nitrate floatation method. RESULTS: The prevalence of soil-transmitted nematode infection at the surveillance sites decreased from 45.3% (946/2087) in 2006 to 15.1% (226/1494) in 2010, with a reduction of 66.6%. Among the infected subjects, hookworm infection occupied 75%-85%, while ascaris or trichuris infections each accounted for less than 10%. In terms of infection intensity, 65.2%-85.5% of the hookworm infection was light, and majority of the infected subjects were farmers. The pinworm prevalence in children were still high although it had dropped down from 46.1% (140/304) in 2006 to 29.8% (36/121) in 2010, declined by 35.4%. In the 5 years, totally 400 soil samples from 100 families were examined and 21 samples were found ascaris egg positive with viable eggs in only one sample. CONCLUSION: The 5 year surveillance reveals a decreasing trend of the soil-transmitted nematode prevalence but shows a relatively high hookworm infection rate in the population and pinworm infection in children.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To understand the endemic situation of soil-transmitted nematodes in Fujian Province. METHODS: According to the national guidelines, the survey spots were determined by clustered random sampling in nine prefectures (cities) of Fujian Province from 2007 to 2009. Residents of 3 years old and above were investigated. The eggs of roundworm, hookworm and whipworm in feces were checked by Kato-Katz method. Eggs per gram (EPG) in feces were calculated. The gender, age and education status of the investigated subjects were recorded. The results were evaluated in comparison to those in 1992 and 2003. RESULTS: Altogether 93 833 residents in 610 villages of 184 towns from 49 counties were investigated. The overall infection rate of soil-transmitted nematodes was 10.14% (9 511/93 833), decreased by 86.88% and 71.84% compared to that in 1992 and 2003, respectively. The prevalence of roundworm, hookworm and whipworm was 1.32%(1 234/93 833), 7.31% (6 863/93 833) and 1.73% (1 622/93 833), respectively. The average EPG of roundworm, hookworm and whipworm was 9 556, 526 and 156, respectively. The prevalence in males and females was 9.48% (4 385/46 246) and 10.77% (5 126/47 587), respectively, with a statistical difference (chi2 = 42.84, P < 0.01). There was also a statistical difference among the age groups (chi2 = 1 626, P < 0.01). The higher education level of the people, the lower prevalence (chi2 = 1 107, P < 0.01). CONCLUSION: The prevalence of soil-transmitted nematodes is on a downward trend in Fujian Province, but remained high in the underdeveloped areas. The hookworm infection rate is higher than the average of the nation.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Depression is widespread among adolescents and seriously endangers their quality of life and academic performance. Developing strategies for adolescent depression has important public health implications. No systematic review on the effectiveness of physical exercise for adolescents aged 12-18 years with depression or depressive symptoms has previously been conducted. This study aims to systematically evaluate the effect of physical exercise on adolescent depression in the hope of developing optimum physical exercise programs. METHODS: Nine major databases at home and abroad were searched to retrieve randomized controlled trials (RCTs) on exercise interventions among adolescents with depression or depressive symptoms. The retrieval period started from the founding date of each database to May 1, 2021. The methodological quality of the included articles was evaluated using the modified PEDro scale. A meta-analysis, subgroup analysis, sensitivity analysis, and publication bias tests were then conducted. RESULTS: Fifteen articles, involving 19 comparisons, with a sample size of 1331, were included. Physical exercise significantly reduced adolescent depression (standardized mean difference [SMD] = - 0.64, 95% CI - 0.89, - 0.39, p < 0.01), with a moderate effect size, in both adolescents with depression (SMD = -0.57, 95% CI - 0.90, - 0.23, p < 0.01) and adolescents with depressive symptoms (SMD = - 0.67, 95% CI - 1.00, - 0.33, p < 0.01). In subgroups of different depression categories (depression or depressive symptoms), aerobic exercise was the main form of exercise for the treatment of adolescents with depression. For adolescents with depression, interventions lasting 6 weeks, 30 min/time, and 4 times/week had optimum results. The effects of aerobic exercise and resistance + aerobic exercise in the subgroup of adolescents with depressive symptoms were significant, while the effect of physical and mental exercise (yoga) was not significant. For adolescents with depressive symptoms, aerobic exercise lasting 8 weeks, 75-120 min/time, and 3 times/week had optimum results. Physical exercise with moderate intensity is a better choice for adolescents with depression and depressive symptoms. CONCLUSIONS: Physical exercise has a positive effect on the improvement of depression in adolescents. The protocol for this study was registered with INPLASY (202170013). DOI number is 10.37766/inplasy2021.7.0013. Registration Date:2021.7.06.

RESUMEN

The free energies of ion equilibrium partition between an aqueous KCl solution and nanofiltration (NF) membranes were investigated on the basis of the relationship of the transmembrane electrical potential (TMEP) and rejection. The measurements of TMEP and rejection were performed for Filmtec NF membranes in KCl solutions over a wide range of salt concentrations (1-60 mol·m(-3)) and pH values (3-10) at the feed side, with pressure differences in the range 0.1-0.6 MPa. The reflection coefficient and transport number, which were used to obtain the distribution coefficients on basis of irreversible thermodynamics, were fitted by the two-layer model with consideration of the activity coefficient. Evidence for dielectric exclusion under the experimental conditions was obtained by analyzing the rejection of KCl at the isoelectric point. The free energies were calculated, and the contribution of the electrostatic effect, dielectric exclusion, steric hindrance, and activity coefficient on the ion partitioning is elucidated. It is clearly demonstrated that the dielectric exclusion plays a central role.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: According to the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) guidelines, surveillance or adjuvant chemoradiation is recommended for patients with completely resected pT2-4aN0M0 esophageal carcinoma (EC). Due to this population's variant prognosis, we developed novel nomograms to define the high-risk patients who may need closer follow-up or even post-operative therapy. METHODS: Cases with resected pT2-4aN0M0 EC from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database and the Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center (SYSUCC) were enrolled in the study. The SEER database cases were randomly assigned into the training cohort (SEER-T) and the internal validation cohort (SEER-V). Cases from the SYSUCC served as the external validation cohort (SYSUCC-V). Overall survival (OS) and cancer specific survival (CSS) were compared between groups. Multivariate analyses were applied to identify the prognostic factors. Nomograms and risk-classifying systems were developed. The nomograms' performances were evaluated by concordance index (C-index), calibration plots and decision curve analysis (DCA). RESULTS: A total of 2,441 eligible EC cases (SEER-T, n=839; SEER-V, n=279; SYSUCC-V, n=1,323) were included. Age, sex, chemotherapy, lymph node harvested (LNH) and T stage were identified as the independent predictors for CSS. Regarding OS, it also included the prognostic factor of histology. Nomograms were formulated. For CSS, the C-index was 0.68 [95% confidence interval (CI): 0.66-0.71], 0.67 (95% CI: 0.63-0.71) and 0.61 (95% CI: 0.59-0.63) for the SEER-T, SEER-V, and SYSUCC-V, respectively. For OS, the C-index was 0.69 (95% CI: 0.66-0.72), 0.64 (95% CI: 0.59-0.69) and 0.62 (95% CI: 0.61-0.63) for the SEER-T, SEER-V, and SYSUCC-V, respectively. The calibration curves and DCA showed good performances of the nomograms. In further analyses, risk-classification systems stratified pT2-4aN0M0 EC into low-risk and high-risk subgroup. The OS and CSS curves of these 2 subgroups, in the full analysis set or stratified by TNM stage, histology, T stage and LNH categories, showed significant distinctions. CONCLUSIONS: The novel prognostic nomograms and risk-stratifying systems which separated resected pT2-4aN0M0 esophageal carcinoma patients into the low-risk and high-risk prognostic groups were developed. It may help clinicians estimate individual survival and develop individualized treatment strategies.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the natural foci of paragonimiasis in Youxi, Yongtai and Pinghe Counties of Fujian Province. METHODS: One village each from the three counties was selected according to reported paragonimiasis cases. Freshwater snails collected from fields were examined for cercariae. Freshwater crabs obtained in the fields were examined for metacercariae by washing filtration method or direct compression method. Feces of cats and dogs were collected for the detection of eggs by water precipitation. In order to identify the species of Paragonimus, 4 cats were orally fed with metacercariae. At the same time, the habitat of three survey sites was observed. RESULTS: Three fluke species, namely, P. skrjabini, P. westermani and P. cenocopiosus(Syn. Euparagonimus cenocopiosus) were found. In Banlin Village of Youxi County and Chishui Village of Yongtai County, the seropositive rate by IgG ELISA were 6.8% (21/309) and 6.8% (9/133), respectively. Four species of freshwater snails were found, two species of Tricula and one species of Pseudobythinella were newly identified first intermediate hosts of Paragonimus. Four species of freshwater carbs were found, one species of Nanhaipotamon served as a new second intermediate host of Paragonimus. In Youxi, the infection rate of P. skrjabini cercariae in snails and metacercariae in crabs was 2.1% (27/1 344) and 92.1% (58/63), respectively; the index of crab infection and the positive ratio of Paragonimus eggs in cat feces was 171.91 and 1/7, respectively. In Yongtai, the cercariae infection rate in Pseudobythinella and Tricula snails infected with P. skrjabini was 0.6% (4/690) and 0.1% (2/ 2330), respectively; the infection rate of P. skrjabini metacercariae in crabs was 18.2% (18/99); the index of crab infection was 9.12. In Pinghe, the infection rate of cercariae in Semisulcospira libertina and metacercariae in crabs was 03% (3/1092) and 44.9% (35/78), respectively; the index of crab infection was 616. CONCLUSION: Paragonimus skrjabini P. westermani and P. cenocopiosus have been found from the three counties of Fujian Province with different infection level in snails and crabs.

RESUMEN

Ge(1-x-y)Si(x)Sn(y) alloys have emerged as a new class of highly versatile IR semiconductors offering the potential for independent variation of band structure and lattice dimension, making them the first practical group IV ternary system fully compatible with Si CMOS processing. In this paper we develop and apply new synthetic protocols based on designer molecular hydrides of Si, Ge, and Sn to demonstrate this concept from a synthesis perspective. Variation of the Si/Sn ratio in the ternary leads to an entirely new family of semiconductors exhibiting tunable direct band gaps (E(o)) ranging from 0.8 to 1.2 eV at a fixed lattice constant identical to that of Ge, as required for the design of high-efficiency multijunction solar cells based on group IV/III-V hybrids. As a proof-of-concept demonstration, we fabricated lattice-matched Si(100)/Ge/SiGeSn/InGaAs architectures on low-cost Si(100) substrates for the first time. These exhibit the required optical, structural, and thermal properties, thus representing a viable starting point en route to a complete four-junction photovoltaic device. In the context of Si-Ge-Sn optoelectronic applications, we show that Ge(1-x-y)Si(x)Sn(y) alloys serve as higher-gap barrier layers for the formation of light emitting structures based on Ge(1-y)Sn(y) quantum wells grown on Si.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To understand the prevalence of important human parasitic diseases in Fujian province. METHODS: According to the national guidelines, clustered random sampling was made for the survey. Modified Kato-Katz thick smear was applied to examine helminth eggs for soil-transmitted nematodes and Clonorchis sinensis. Cellophane and swab technique was applied for detecting Enterobius vermicularis eggs in children under 12. Questionnairing, skin test, serological test and eosinophil examination were carried out for Paragonimus infection. Questionnairing and serological test were used for Taenia infection and cysticercosis. Retrospective investigation was conducted with the data on outpatient and hospitalized cases with parasitic diseases. RESULTS: 45,736 people at 73 spots of 24 counties were investigated and 14 species of parasites were found. The overall infection rate of intestinal helminth infections was 36.15%. The prevalence of Ascaris lumbricoides, hookworms and Trichuris trichiura was 9.55%, 19.73% and 11.48% respectively. The infection rate of Enterobius vermicularis and Clonorchis sinensis was 22.06% and 0.60% respectively. The positive rate of skin test and serological test among skin test positives for Paragonimus infection was 7.07% and 9.23% respectively. The serology positive rate for cysticercosis was 2.28%, only 3 cases of taenia infection were found from 16371 persons investigated. Human infections with Angiostrongylus cantonensis, Diphyllobothrium latus, Taenia saginata, and Gnathostoma spinigerum were found for the first time in the Province. Metorchis orientalis and Echinostoma aegyptiaca infections in human were first recorded. CONCLUSION: The overall prevalence of soil-transmitted nematodes has decreased significantly in the province, although still highly prevalent in social-economically less developed areas. Meanwhile, attention should be paid to the food-borne parasitic infections in human population.

RESUMEN

A photoplatinization technique was proposed to deposit Pt on a thin TiO(2) layer modified indium tin oxide-coated polyethylene naphthalate (ITO/PEN) substrate at low temperature (about 50 °C after 1 h of UV irradiation) for the first time. The fabrication process includes coating and hydrolyzing the tetra-n-butyl titanate to form a TiO(2)-modified layer and the photoplatinization of the modified substrate in H(2)PtCl(6)/2-propanol precursor solution under UV irradiation. The obtained platinized electrodes were used as counter electrodes (CE) for flexible dye-sensitized solar cells (FDSCs). The well-optimized platinized electrode showed high optical transmittance, up to 76.5% between 400 and 800 nm (T(av)), and the charge transfer resistance (R(ct)) was as low as 0.66 Ω cm(2). A series of characterizations also demonstrated the outstanding chemical/electrochemical durability and mechanical stability of the platinized electrode. The FDSCs with TiO(2)/Ti photoanodes and the obtained CEs achieved a power conversion efficiency (PCE) up to 8.12% under rear-side irradiation (AM 1.5 illumination, 100 mW cm(-2)). The obtained CEs were also employed in all-plastic bifacial DSCs. When irradiated from the rear side, the bifacial FDSC yielded a PCE of 6.26%, which approached 90% that of front-side irradiation (6.97%). Our study revealed that, apart from serving as a functional layer for deposition of Pt, the thin TiO(2) layer modification on ITO/PEN substrates also played an important role in improving the transparency and the mechanical properties of the CE. The effect of the thickness of the TiO(2) layer for Pt coating on the performance of the CE was also investigated.

RESUMEN

This chapter describes the LC-MS/MS methods for the determination of antibiotics residues in food matrices. The types of antibiotics include ß-lactam antibiotics, sulfonamides, tetracyclines, fluoroquinolones, nitrofurans, and chloramphenicol (CAP). The food matrices are mainly from animal origin, such as animal tissues, fishes (marine products), eggs, milk, honey, and so on. The methods and procedures are covered, including three parts: (1) Liquid chromatographic conditions, (2) mass spectrometer conditions, including ionization source, analyzer, and acquisition, and (3) extraction and clean-up methods. In each case, the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for analysis are given with sensitivity, linearity, precision, and recovery. Some criteria of maximum residue limits (MRLs) from the legislation are listed.

RESUMEN

In this study, liquid chromatography time-of-flight mass spectrometry (HPLC/TOF-MS) is applied to qualitation and quantitation of 18 synthetic preservatives in beverage. The identification by HPLC/TOF-MS is accomplished with the accurate mass (the subsequent generated empirical formula) of the protonated molecules [M+H]+ or the deprotonated molecules [M-H]-, along with the accurate mass of their main fragment ions. In order to obtain sufficient sensitivity for quantitation purposes (using the protonated or deprotonated molecule) and additional qualitative mass spectrum information provided by the fragments ions, segment program of fragmentor voltages is designed in positive and negative ion mode, respectively. Accurate mass measurements are highly useful in the complex sample analyses since they allow us to achieve a high degree of specificity, often needed when other interferents are present in the matrix. The mass accuracy typically obtained is routinely better than 3 ppm. The 18 compounds behave linearly in the 0.005-5.0mg.kg(-1) concentration range, with correlation coefficient >0.996. The recoveries at the tested concentrations of 1.0mg.kg(-1)-100mg.kg(-1) are 81-106%, with coefficients of variation <7.5%. Limits of detection (LODs) range from 0.0005 to 0.05 mg.kg(-1), which are far below the required maximum residue level (MRL) for these preservatives in foodstuff. The method is suitable for routine quantitative and qualitative analyses of synthetic preservatives in foodstuff.
