RESUMO

Histone acetylation plays critical roles in chromatin remodeling, DNA repair, and epigenetic regulation of gene expression, but the underlying mechanisms are unclear. Proteasomes usually catalyze ATP- and polyubiquitin-dependent proteolysis. Here, we show that the proteasomes containing the activator PA200 catalyze the polyubiquitin-independent degradation of histones. Most proteasomes in mammalian testes ("spermatoproteasomes") contain a spermatid/sperm-specific α subunit α4 s/PSMA8 and/or the catalytic ß subunits of immunoproteasomes in addition to PA200. Deletion of PA200 in mice abolishes acetylation-dependent degradation of somatic core histones during DNA double-strand breaks and delays core histone disappearance in elongated spermatids. Purified PA200 greatly promotes ATP-independent proteasomal degradation of the acetylated core histones, but not polyubiquitinated proteins. Furthermore, acetylation on histones is required for their binding to the bromodomain-like regions in PA200 and its yeast ortholog, Blm10. Thus, PA200/Blm10 specifically targets the core histones for acetylation-mediated degradation by proteasomes, providing mechanisms by which acetylation regulates histone degradation, DNA repair, and spermatogenesis.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Pancreatic cancer is a common malignancy with poor prognosis and limited treatment. Here we aimed to investigate the role of host chromosomal instability (CIN) and tumor microbiome in the prognosis of pancreatic cancer patients. METHODS: One hundred formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) pancreatic cancer samples were collected. DNA extracted from FFPE samples were analyzed by low-coverage whole-genome sequencing (WGS) via a customized bioinformatics workflow named ultrasensitive chromosomal aneuploidy detector. RESULTS: Samples are tested according to the procedure of ultrasensitive chromosomal aneuploidy detector (UCAD). We excluded 2 samples with failed quality control, 1 patient lost to follow-up and 6 dead in the perioperative period. The final 91 patients were admitted for the following analyses. Thirteen (14.3%) patients with higher CIN score had worse overall survival (OS) than those with lower CIN score. The top 20 microbes in pancreatic cancer samples included 15 species of bacteria and 5 species of viruses. Patients with high human herpesvirus (HHV)-7 and HHV-5 DNA reads exhibited worse OS. Furthermore, we classified 91 patients into 3 subtypes. Patients with higher CIN score (n =13) had the worst prognosis (median OS 6.9 mon); patients with lower CIN score but with HHV-7/5 DNA load (n = 24) had worse prognosis (median OS 10.6 mon); while patients with lower CIN score and HHV-7/5 DNA negative (n = 54) had the best prognosis (median OS 21.1 mon). CONCLUSIONS: High CIN and HHV-7/5 DNA load were associated with worse survival of pancreatic cancer. The novel molecular subtypes of pancreatic cancer based on CIN and microbiome had prognostic value.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Circulating tumor cell (CTC) isolation methods based on nanostructured substrates can be used to isolate tumor cells from peripheral blood. This study aimed to validate the clinical application of our method and determine the appropriate diagnostic critical value. METHODS: AFM was used to detect the surface roughness of nanostructured substrates. Cell lines and blood samples were used to verify CTC isolation methods. The ROC curve and AUC were used to evaluate the diagnostic value of CTC numbers. RESULTS: First, AFM, cell binding yields, and tumor cell detection rate from blood showed that NS has a potential for cell adsorption. Then, the CTC detection method was verified by using cell lines and blood samples. The number of CTCs in patients with cancers or metastases were significantly greater than those of patients without cancers. Then, the ROC curves and AUC showed that this method had a medium diagnostic value. CONCLUSIONS: Isolating CTCs based on nanostructured substrates was appropriate for the clinical diagnosis of tumors, and samples with more than 1.5 CTCs/1 mL blood could be identified as CTC-positive.

RESUMO

A new isobenzofuranone derivative was isolated from Chaenomeles sinensis by using various chromatographic techniques, including silica gel,Sephadex LH-20,MCI-gel resin and RP-HPLC. This compound was determined as 2,2-dimethyl-5-( 2-oxopropyl)-2 H-furo[3,4-h]chromen-7( 9 H)-one( 1) by NMR,MS,IR and UV spectra, and was also evaluated for its antibacterial activity. The results showed that it showed prominent antibacterial activity with MIC90 value of( 53. 7±4. 5) mg·L-1 for methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus( MRSA) strain. This value is close to that of levofloxacin [with MIC90 value( 50. 2± 4. 2) mg·L-1].

RESUMO

The pertussis surveillance system has been established since 2009 in Tianjin, and continuously improved over the past 10 years. This system determines the definition and classification of pertussis, establishes simple and feasible sampling methods and laboratory detection methods in clinical practice, standardizes the report management of pertussis cases and the treatment of epidemic situations. After the implementation of the surveillance system, the number of reported pertussis cases increased from 26 in 2009 to 802 in 2017, the number of diagnosed cases increased from 19 in 2009 to 662 in 2017, the reported incidence rate of pertussis increased from 0.16/100 000 in 2009 to 4.28/100 000 in 2017, and the number of medical institutions of reporting perutssis cases increased from 2 in 2009 to 53 in 2017. The specimen collection rate of the reported cases reached up to 93.66%. These results show that the sensitivity of pertussis surveillance has been improved and show that the data from the surveillance system may reflect more precisely the epidemical characteristics of perutssis in Tianjin.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: New-onset hyperglycemia (NOH) is a common phenomenon after liver transplantation (LT), but its impact on clinical outcomes has not yet been fully assessed. We aimed to evaluate the etiology and prognosis of NOH within 1 month after LT. METHODS: The data of 3339 adult patients who underwent primary LT from donation after citizen death between January 2010 and June 2016 were extracted from China Liver Transplant Registry database and analyzed. NOH was defined as fasting blood glucose ≥7.0 mmol/L confirmed on at least two occasions within the first post-transplant month with or without hypoglycemic agent. RESULTS: Of 3339 liver recipients, 1416 (42.4%) developed NOH. Recipients with NOH had higher incidence of post-transplant complications such as graft and kidney failure, infection, biliary stricture, cholangitis, and tumor recurrence in a glucose concentration-dependent manner as compared to non-NOH recipients (P < 0.05). The independent risk factors of NOH were donor warm ischemic time >10 min, cold ischemic time >10 h, anhepatic time >60 min, recipient model for end-stage liver disease score >30, moderate ascites and corticosteroid usage (P < 0.05). Liver enzymes (alanine aminotransferase and gamma-glutamyltranspeptidase) on post-transplant day 7 significantly correlated with NOH (P < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: NOH leads to increased morbidity and mortality in liver recipients. Close surveillance and tight control of blood glucose are desiderated immediately following LT particularly in those with delayed graft function and receiving corticosteroid. Strategic targeting graft ischemic injury may help maintain glucose homeostasis.

RESUMO

The epidemiologic characteristics of 631 infant pertussis cases < 12 months, which accounted for 57.42% of the total cases, were analyzed by descriptive epidemiology in Tianjin, between 2010 and 2015. The incidence of infants was 104.66/100,000, which was 118 times higher than in other age groups (P < 0.001). The primary type of pertussis simultaneously presented in households was adult-to-infant (70.51%). The parents were identified as the source of infection in 80.18% of cases for infants. The positive rate of placental antibody transfer was 31.06% and 3.13% for 3-month-old infants. Infants presented the highest age-specific pertussis incidence. The most important reason was parents were the important sources of infection, and secondly the lower level of antibodies in neonates and the rapid waning of maternal antibody titer.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: We aimed to investigate the diagnostic value of apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) maps in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in the volume of acute cerebral infarction (ACI). METHODS: A total of 207 ACI patients were selected in our study. The cerebral infarction (CI) volume in the initial diffusion-weighted imaging examination, minimum ADC value, relative apparent diffusion coefficient (rADC) value, and mean ADC value were measured. The correlations between age, smoking, drinking, hypertension, diabetes, coronary heart disease, clinical stage, the lowest ADC value, the mean ADC value, and the mean rADC value with CI volume were analyzed by logistic regression analysis. A receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was used to analyze the diagnostic value of the ADC value in the ACI volume. RESULTS: There was a significant difference in the distribution of the CI volume in ACI patients (P <.05). A significant difference was found in the signal intensity and percentage distribution of ADC map in patients of different CI groups with different CI volumes (P <.05). The signal of the ADC map was positively correlated with the CI volume. The mean ADC and rADC values had significant differences between different CI volumes (all P <.05). Logistic regression analysis revealed that the mean ADC value was significantly correlated with the CI volume (P <.05). Analysis of the ROC curve showed that the quantitative value of ADC has a diagnostic value for the ACI volume. CONCLUSION: This study has shown that the signal intensity change on the ADC map in MRI and quantitative analysis of the ADC value can be used as a reference for predicting the ACI volume.

RESUMO

BACKGROUNDS: What is the optimal way for the middle esophageal cancer? It is still controversial. In this study, the clinical outcome of middle thoracic esophageal cancer with either intrathoracic or cervical anastomosis was analyzed in our department. PATIENTS AND METHODS: A total of 205 patients who suffered from middle thoracic esophageal cancer were divided into two groups. In group A, 91 patients received intrathoracic anastomosis above aortic arch after esophageal resection via single left thoracotomy, and in group B, 114 patients received cervical anastomosis after esophageal resection via right thoracotomy and median laparotomy. Data of these patients were collected, and morbidity and mortality were analyzed retrospectively. Survival rate was estimated using the Kaplan-Meier method and comparisons between groups were performed with log-rank test. Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed using Cox model to look for independent predictors of survival. RESULTS: Postoperative complications occurred more frequently in group B, such as hemorrhage (p = 0.011), wound infection (p = 0.032), and temporary paresis of the recurrent laryngeal nerve (p = 0.001). Morbidity of anastomotic leak was higher in group B (8.8 vs. 2.2%; p = 0.048), but the associated mortality was not increased. The extent of radical esophagectomy and lymphadenectomy was much greater in group B; therefore, longer esophagus was resected that reduced the cancer residual rate, and more positive lymph nodes were detected that enhanced the accuracy of clinical staging. Fortunately, more patients received adjuvant therapy after operation in group B, and the 5-year survival rate was improved. CONCLUSION: Anastomotic leak rate was higher in cervical anastomosis but with lower mortality. The 5-year survival rate was improved in cervical anastomosis group. The present data support the assumption that cervical anastomosis is a safer and more beneficial procedure for patients with middle thoracic esophageal cancer.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: In China, the middle esophageal squamous cell cancer is the most common tumor type, and Mckeown esophagectomy (ME) is preferably adopted by thoracic surgeon. But, the surgical trauma of ME is great. Thoracolaparoscopic esophagectomy (TE) was developed to decrease the operative stress; however, the safety and efficacy were not defined. In this study, clinical outcomes were compared between patients who received ME and TE. METHODS: The data of 113 patients who suffered from middle-thoracic esophageal cancer during the same period were collected. Sixty-two patients received ME (ME group), and 51 patients received TE (TE group). Patients' demographics and short-term clinicopathologic outcomes were comparable between the two groups. Survival rate was estimated using the Kaplan-Meier method, and comparisons between groups were performed with log-rank test. RESULTS: Patients in TE group had lower body mass index (BMI). Preoperative tumor stage in TE group was much earlier. Both overall and thoracic operation time were longer in TE group. The blood loss during operation and postoperative day (POD) 1 was less in TE group, which contributed to the less blood transfusion. In TE group, postoperative incidence of pulmonary complications and atrial fibrillation (p = 0.035 and p = 0.033) was lower; the inflammatory response and incision pain were significantly alleviated; the ICU and in-hospital stay was shorter as well because of less surgical trauma. No statistically significant difference was found between two groups in terms of overall survival or disease-free survival. CONCLUSIONS: The efficacy and safety of TE were supported by the selected patients in this cohort study. Although it is lack of randomness in this research, some advantages of TE were gratifying such as lower postoperative complications and similar survival with ME. A multicenter prospective randomized study is now required.

RESUMO

The long noncoding DANCR functions as a tumor oncogene in many cancers, including colorectal cancer (CRC). However, the molecular mechanism of DANCR in CRC has not been explored. This study probed the function and potential mechanism by which DANCR contributes to the progression of CRC. The obtained data indicated that DANCR is overexpressed in CRC tissues and cell lines. Knockdown of DANCR hindered CRC cell proliferation, which was mediated by cyclin D1 and CDK4. Bioinformatic analysis, luciferase reporter assays and subcellular fractionation verified that DANCR directly binds to miR-508-5p. Moreover, DANCR acts as a miR-508-5p ceRNA to regulate expression of ATF1. In addition, upregulation of DANCR is attributed to H3K27 acetylation at the promoter region. In conclusion, our study confirmed that activation of lncRNA DANCR by H3K27 acetylation has an oncogenic role in CRC progression and provides a potential therapeutic target for CRC.

RESUMO

Vaccination strategies that can induce a broad spectrum immune response are important to enhance protection against SARS-CoV-2 variants. We conducted a randomized, double-blind and parallel controlled trial to evaluate the safety and immunogenicity of the bivalent (5×1010viral particles) and B.1.1.529 variant (5×1010viral particles) adenovirus type-5 (Ad5) vectored COVID-19 vaccines administrated via inhalation. 451 eligible subjects aged 18 years and older who had been vaccinated with three doses inactivated COVID-19 vaccines were randomly assigned to inhale one dose of either B.1.1.529 variant Ad5 vectored COVID-19 vaccine (Ad5-nCoVO-IH group, N=150), bivalent Ad5 vectored COVID-19 vaccine (Ad5-nCoV/O-IH group, N=151), or Ad5 vectored COVID-19 vaccine (5×1010viral particles; Ad5-nCoV-IH group, N=150). Adverse reactions reported by 37 (24.67%) participants in the Ad5-nCoVO-IH group, 28 (18.54%) in the Ad5-nCoV/O-IH group, and 26 (17.33%) in the Ad5-nCoV-IH group with mainly mild to moderate dry mouth, oropharyngeal pain, headache, myalgia, cough, fever and fatigue. No serious adverse events related to the vaccine were reported. Investigational vaccines were immunogenic, with significant difference in the GMTs of neutralizing antibodies against Omicron BA.1 between Ad5-nCoV/O-IH (43.70) and Ad5-nCoV-IH (29.25) at 28 days after vaccination (P=0.0238). The seroconversion rates of neutralizing antibodies against BA.1 in Ad5-nCoVO-IH, Ad5-nCoV/O-IH, and Ad5-nCoV-IH groups were 56.00%, 59.60% and 48.67% with no significant difference among the groups. Overall, the investigational vaccines were demonstrated to be safe and well tolerated in adults, and was highly effective in inducing mucosal immunities in addition to humoral and cellular immune responses defending against SARS-CoV-2 variants.Trial registration: Chictr.org identifier: ChiCTR2200063996.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: This study aims to investigate the usefulness of diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) and arterial spin labeling (ASL) for predicting final infarct volume in patients with acute atherothrombotic subtype cerebral infarction (AT-type stroke). METHODS: The data of 77 patients with AT-type stroke were retrospectively analyzed. ASL and DWI values of minimum apparent diffusion coefficient (min ADC), mean ADC (mean ADC), minimum cerebral blood flow (min CBF), and mean CBF (mean CBF) of the infarction lesions were measured. Changes in cerebral infarction volume (ΔVolume) were determined by DWI reexamination on the 7th day after onset. Correlations of ADC and CBF with Δ Volume were analyzed. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was used to determine the usefulness of ADC and CBF values for predicting final infarct volume. RESULTS: There was a significant difference in the distribution of the ΔVolume in AT-type stroke (P<0.0001). The ADC and min CBF values were negatively correlated with the infarct ΔVolume (P<0.05); mean CBF and ΔCBF were not correlated with ΔVolume. When min ADC was ≤0.303 × 10-3 mm2/s, min CBF 1.5 ≤2.415 mL/100 g/min, or min CBF2.5 ≤4.25 mL/100 g/min, ΔVolume was likely to be large. The ROC curve showed the highest predictive value for min ADC and min CBF. CONCLUSION: Distinctive patterns of quantitative ADC and CBF can be used as a simple and rapid method for predicting change in infarction volume in AT-type stroke.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Heterologous booster immunisation with orally administered aerosolised Ad5-nCoV vaccine (AAd5) has been shown to be safe and highly immunogenic in adults. Here, we aimed to assess the safety and immunogenicity of heterologous booster immunisation with orally administered AAd5 in children and adolescents aged 6-17 years who had received two doses of inactivated vaccine (BBIBP-CorV or CoronaVac). METHODS: We did a randomised, open-label, parallel-controlled, non-inferiority study to assess the safety and immunogenicity of heterologous booster immunisation with AAd5 (0·1 mL) or intramuscular Ad5-nCoV vaccine (IMAd5; 0·3 mL) and homologous booster immunisation with inactivated vaccine (BBIBP-CorV or CoronaVac; 0·5 mL) in children (aged 6-12 years) and adolescents (aged 13-17 years) who had received two doses of inactivated vaccine at least 3 months earlier in Hunan, China. Children and adolescents who were previously immunised with two-dose BBIBP-CorV or CoronaVac were recruited for eligibility screening at least 3 months after the second dose. A stratified block method was used for randomisation, and participants were stratified by age and randomly assigned (3:1:1) to receive AAd5, IMAd5, or inactivated vaccine. The study staff and participants were not masked to treatment allocation. Laboratory and statistical staff were masked during the study. In this interim analysis, adverse events within 14 days and geometric mean titre (GMT) of serum neutralising antibodies on day 28 after the booster vaccination, based on the per-protocol population, were used as the primary outcomes. The analysis of non-inferiority was based on comparison using a one-sided 97·5% CI with a non-inferiority margin of 0·67. This study was registered at ClinicalTrials.gov, NCT05330871, and is ongoing. FINDINGS: Between April 17 and May 28, 2022, 436 participants were screened and 360 were enrolled: 220 received AAd5, 70 received IMAd5, and 70 received inactivated vaccine. Within 14 days after booster vaccination, vaccine-related adverse reactions were reported: 35 adverse events (in 13 [12%] of 110 children and 22 [20%] of 110 adolescents) in 220 individuals in the AAd5 group, 35 (in 18 [51%] of 35 children and 17 [49%] of 35 adolescents) in 70 individuals in the IMAd5 group, and 13 (in five [14%] of 35 children and eight [23%] of 35 adolescents) in 70 individuals in the inactivated vaccine group. Solicited adverse reactions were also reported: 34 (13 [12%] of 110 children and 21 [10%] of 110 adolescents) in 220 individuals in the AAd5 group, 34 (17 [49%] of 35 children and 17 [49%] of 35 adolescents) in 70 individuals in the IMAd5 group, and 12 (five [14%] of 35 children and seven [20%] of 35 adolescents) in 70 individuals in the inactivated vaccine group. The GMTs of neutralising antibodies against ancestral SARS-CoV-2 Wuhan-Hu-1 (Pango lineage B) in the AAd5 group were significantly higher than the GMTs in the inactivated vaccine group (adjusted GMT ratio 10·2 [95% CI 8·0-13·1]; p<0·0001). INTERPRETATION: Our study shows that a heterologous booster with AAd5 is safe and highly immunogenic against ancestral SARS-CoV-2 Wuhan-Hu-1 in children and adolescents. RESUMO

Background: People over 60 have been found to develop less protection after two doses of inactivated COVID-19 vaccines than younger people. Heterologous immunisation could potentially induce more robust immune responses compared to homologous immunisation. We aimed to assess the immunogenicity and safety of a heterologous immunisation with an adenovirus type 5-vectored vaccine (Ad5-nCOV, Convidecia) among elderly who were primed with an inactivated vaccine (CoronaVac) previously. Methods: We did a randomised, observer-blinded, non-inferiority trial in healthy adults aged 60 years and older in Lianshui County (Jiangsu, China) between August 26, 2021 and May 15, 2022. 199 eligible participants who had received two doses of CoronaVac in the past 3-6 months were randomised (1:1) to receive a third dose of Convidecia (group A, n = 99) or CoronaVac (group B, n = 100), while 100 participants primed with one dose of CoronaVac in the past 1-2 months were randomised equally to receive a second dose of Convidecia (group C, n = 50) or CoronaVac (group D, n = 50). Participants and investigators were masked to the vaccine received. Primary outcomes were the geometric mean titers (GMTs) of neutralising antibodies against live SARS-CoV-2 virus 14 days after boosting and 28-day adverse reactions. This study was registered with ClinicalTrials.govNCT04952727. Findings: A heterologous third dose of Convidecia resulted in a 6.2-fold (GMTs: 286.4 vs 48.2), 6.3-fold (45.9 vs 7.3) and 7.5-fold (32.9 vs 4.4) increase in neutralising antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 wild-type, delta (B.1.617.2) and omicron (BA.1.1) 14 days post boosting, respectively, compared with the homologous boost. The heterologous booster with Convidecia induced significantly higher neutralsing activities, with up to 91% inhibition in binding of Spike to ACE2 for BA.4 and BA.5 variants, compared with 35% inhibition induced by three doses of CoronaVac. For participants primed with one dose of CoronaVac, a heterologous dose of Convidecia induced higher neutralising antibodies against wild-type than two doses of CoronaVac (GMTs: 70.9 vs 9.3, p < 0.0001), but not for that against variants of concern (GMTs against delta: 5.0 vs 4.0, p = 0.4876; GMTs against omicron: 4.8 vs 3.7, p = 0.4707). Adverse reactions were reported by 8 (8.1%) participants in group A and 4 (4.0%) in group B (p > 0.05), and 8 (16.0%) in group C and 1 (2.0%) in group D (p = 0.031). Interpretation: In elderly individuals primed with two doses of CoronaVac, the heterologous immunisation with Convidecia induced strong antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 wildtype and variants of concern, which could be an alternative regimen for enhancing protection in this vulnerable population. RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Percutaneous compression of the trigeminal ganglion (PCTG) can induce significant hemodynamic perturbations secondary to the trigeminocardiac reflex (TCR). The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of atropine pretreatment on hemodynamic responses during PCTG for trigeminal neuralgia. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 120 patients who received PCTG were randomly assigned to control and atropine groups that were pretreated with saline (n=60) and atropine 0.004 mg/kg intravenously (n=60), respectively. Heart rate (HR) and mean arterial pressure (MAP) were measured at 9 timepoints from before induction of anesthesia until the end of the PCTG procedure; the incidence of TCR was also observed. RESULTS: HR was higher in the atropine compared with control group from the time of skin puncture with the PCTG needle until after the procedure was completed (P<0.05). MAP was also higher in the atropine compared with control group, but only at entry of the needle into the foramen ovale until 1 minute after trigeminal ganglion compression (P<0.05). HR was reduced in both groups during entry of the needle into the foramen ovale and during ganglion compression, but less so in the atropine compared with the control group (P<0.05). MAP increased during PCTG compared with baseline in both groups, but with a larger increase in the atropine group (P<0.05). Two and 52 cases in the control group, and 6 and 1 cases in the atropine group, exhibited a TCR during entry of the needle into the foramen ovale and at ganglion compression, respectively (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: Pretreatment with atropine was effective in most patients at minimizing abrupt reduction in HR during PCTG.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The demonstration of batch-to-batch consistency is indispensable for quality control of vaccines. METHODS: We conducted a randomized, double-blind, parallel-controlled trial to evaluate the immunogenicity consistency of a single shot of Ad5-nCoV in healthy adults who had not previously received any COVID-19 vaccine. All eligible participants were randomly assigned equally to receive one of the three consecutive batches of Ad5-nCoV (5 × 1010 viral particles/vial, 0.5 mL). The primary endpoint was geometric mean titers (GMTs) of serum SARS-CoV-2 receptor-binding domain (RBD)-specific IgG on day 28 post-vaccination. RESULTS: One thousand fifty participants were enrolled, with 350 (33%) participants per group. On day 28 post-vaccination, GMTs in three groups were 78.3 binding antibody units (BAU)/mL (95% CI 70.3-87.3), 82.9 BAU/mL (73.9-92.9), and 78.8 BAU/mL (70.2-88.4), respectively. The two-sided 95% CIs for the GMT ratios between each pair of batches were all between 0.67 and 1.5. The highest incidence of solicited adverse reactions within 7 days post-vaccination was reported by batch 3 recipients (23.1% versus 15.1% in batch 1 recipients and 14.6% in bath 2 recipients; p = 0.0039). None of the serious adverse events were related to vaccination. CONCLUSIONS: Immunogenicity consistency between consecutive batches of Ad5-nCoV was well established in adults. CLINICAL TRIAL REGISTRATION: This trial was registered with ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT05313646).

RESUMO

The origin of magnetism induced by vacancies on BaTiO(3)(001) surfaces is investigated systematically by first-principles calculations within density-functional theory. The calculated results show that O vacancy is responsible for the magnetism of the BaO-terminated surface and the magnetism of the TiO(2)-terminated surface is induced by Ti vacancy. For the BaO-terminated surface, the magnetism mainly arises from the unpaired electrons that are localized in the O vacancy basin. In contrast, for the TiO(2)-terminated surface, the magnetism mainly originates from the partially occupied O-2p states of the first nearest neighbor O atoms surrounding the Ti vacancy. These results suggest the possibility of implementing magneto-electric coupling in conventional ferroelectric materials.

RESUMO

Two new secolignans and one new neolignan, named feddeiphenols A-C (1-3), together with eight known compounds (4-11), were isolated from the leaves and stems of Daphne feddei. Their structures were established on the base of spectroscopic methods, mainly extensive NMR, UV spectroscopy, and MS spectrometry. Compounds 1-11 were tested for their anti-human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-1 activity and cytotoxicity. The results revealed that compounds 1, 2, 3, 7, and 9 showed therapeutic index (TI) values above 30, respectively, and the other compounds also showed weak anti-HIV-1 activity. Compound 1 showed modest cytotoxic activity. The other compounds also showed weak cytotoxic activity.
