RESUMO

This paper aims to explore the anti-inflammatory mechanism of Saracae Cortex by using network pharmacology and molecular docking methods and verify it through the inflammation model of zebrafish. The effective components, potential core targets, and signaling pathways of Saracae Cortex were obtained by using network pharmacology. A lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-induced inflammation model of zebrafish was established to evaluate the anti-inflammatory activity of aqueous extract and 70% ethanol extract of Saracae Cortex with cell apoptosis rate and reactive oxygen species(ROS) production rate as indicators. q PCR was performed to verify the main targets predicted by network pharmacology. The prediction found that there were 121 potential anti-inflammatory targets in Saracae Cortex. Protein-protein interaction(PPI) analysis showed that Saracae Cortex mainly acted on signal transducer and activator of transcription 3(STAT3), vascular endothelial growth factor A( VEGFA), epidermal growth factor( EGF), tumor necrosis factor( TNF),tumor protein p53(TP53), matrix metalloprotein 9(MMP9), c-fos proto-oncogene protein(FOS), estrogen receptor 1(ESR1), cx-c motif chemokine ligand 8(CXCL8), cluster of differentiation 8(CD8), and other targets. Gene Ontology(GO) analysis showed the biological process mainly acted on the inhibition of apoptosis, the positive regulation of gene expression, and the positive regulation of cell proliferation. Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG) analysis showed that the mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK) signaling pathway, PI3K-Akt signaling pathway, and hypoxia-inducible factor 1(HIF-1) signaling pathway may play a key role in anti-inflammation of Saracae Cortex. Molecular docking verified that five key compounds had a strong binding force with their corresponding core target. Zebrafish animal experiments showed that Saracae Cortex could significantly inhibit ROS formation and reduce cell apoptosis in juvenile fish caused by inflammation and inhibit the further enhancement of inflammatory response in tissue. In addition, compared with the blank group, the transcription levels of nuclear factor kappa-B(NF-κB), TP53, FOS, adaptor protein complex-1(AP-1), and mitogen-activated protein kinases P38(P38) were significantly up-regulated in the model group. Compared with the model group, the m RNA expression of NF-κB, TP53, FOS, AP-1, and P38 was significantly down-regulated in zebrafish tissue treated with aqueous extract and 70% ethanol extract of Saracae Cortex. Saracae Cortex plays an anti-inflammatory role through multiple components and targets, and its anti-inflammatory effect may be related to the inhibition of the MAPK signaling pathway.

RESUMO

The performance of organic light emitting devices (OLEDs) fabricated using Ir(III) complexes bearing 1,3,4-oxadiazole (OXD)-based cyclometallic ligands still needs to be improved. In this work, Ir3+ was coordinated with a 2-(9,9-diethyl-9H-fluoren-2-yl)-1,3,4-oxadiazole (F-OXD) fragment, which was modified with various functionalized substituents, including fluorenyl, OXD and carbazolyl groups. Three complexes, named Ir-Flu, Ir-OXD and Ir-Cz, were synthesized successfully and their photophysical, electrochemical and electroluminescence properties were investigated in detail. All these complexes exhibited yellow-orange emission in solution and a distinct aggregation-induced phosphorescent emission (AIPE) phenomenon was observed. Monochrome OLEDs were fabricated using these phosphorescent dopants, and the turn-on voltage (V), luminance (L) and current efficiency (CE) showed significant improvement compared to analogous OXD-based Ir(III) complexes reported before. In particular, the device with Ir-OXD as the dopant achieved the highest maximum brightness of 25 014 cd m-2 and the lowest efficiency roll-off (42.6%) at the maximum luminance among all the devices. These results provided a proven strategy of functionalized decoration of OXD-based complexes to achieve superior luminous efficiency devices.

RESUMO

The field of anion supramolecular chemistry has received more and more attention in recent years. Anions with diverse types and geometries have been widely used for the synthesis of ionic spin crossover (SCO) complexes. This review is devoted to anion effects on the molecular, supramolecular structures and magnetic properties of discrete SCO compounds. Firstly, typical anions used in the synthesis of these compounds are briefly summarized according to their various geometries. This is followed by a collection of representative examples of anion-based SCO compounds, whose SCO properties are analyzed in terms of supramolecular interactions, geometry and charge of anions. In the third part, anion effects on SCO complexes of different kinds of metal centers and ligands are outlined and finally remarks on the synthesis new type of ionic SCO complexes in the future are described.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Ventilator-induced lung injury (VILI) is caused by overdistension of the alveoli by the repetitive recruitment and derecruitment of alveolar units. This study aims to investigate the potential role and mechanism of fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21), a metabolic regulator secreted by the liver, in VILI development. METHODS: Serum FGF21 concentrations were determined in patients undergoing mechanical ventilation during general anesthesia and in a mouse VILI model. Lung injury was compared between FGF21-knockout (KO) mice and wild-type (WT) mice. Recombinant FGF21 was administrated in vivo and in vitro to determine its therapeutic effect. RESULTS: Serum FGF21 levels in patients and mice with VILI were significantly higher than in those without VILI. Additionally, the increment of serum FGF21 in anesthesia patients was positively correlated with the duration of ventilation. VILI was aggravated in FGF21-KO mice compared with WT mice. Conversely, the administration of FGF21 alleviated VILI in both mouse and cell models. FGF21 reduced Caspase-1 activity, suppressed the mRNA levels of Nlrp3, Asc, Il-1ß, Il-18, Hmgb1 and Nf-κb, and decreased the protein levels of NLRP3, ASC, IL-1ß, IL-18, HMGB1 and the cleaved form of GSDMD. CONCLUSIONS: Our findings reveal that endogenous FGF21 signaling is triggered in response to VILI, which protects against VILI by inhibiting the NLRP3/Caspase-1/GSDMD pyroptosis pathway. These results suggest that boosting endogenous FGF21 or the administration of recombinant FGF21 could be promising therapeutic strategies for the treatment of VILI during anesthesia or critical care.

RESUMO

Bulk chemical 2-methyl-2-butene, one of the main C5 distillates of the petrochemical industry, has scarcely been utilized directly in synthesizing high-value-added fine chemicals. Herein, we use 2-methyl-2-butene as the starting material to develop a palladium-catalyzed highly site- and regio-selective C-3 dehydrogenation reverse prenylation of indoles. This synthetic method features mild reaction conditions, a broad substrate scope, atom- and step-economies.

RESUMO

Atherosclerotic plaques belong to the common vascular disease in the aged, which rupture will lead to acute thromboembolic diseases, the leading cause of fatal cardiovascular events. Accumulating evidence indicates that the lncRNAs-miRNAs-mRNA regulatory network plays a critical role in atherosclerosis. Based on RNA sequencing (GSE207252), we constructed expression profiles of lncRNAs, microRNAs, and mRNA in the carotid plaque of atherosclerosis patients and analyzed differentially expressed genes (DEGs). We identified three candidate lncRNAs using two algorithms (LASSO and SVM-RFE): lnc_GLRX3, lnc_FGF7-5, and DISC1FP1). LNCipedia, TargetScan, and miRDB databases were used to predict target miRNAs of lncRNAs and target genes of miRNAs. Gene ontology (GO) functional annotation, Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway analysis, and Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (GSEA) analysis of DEGs was carried out using the R package clusterProfiler. A PPI network was constructed using the STRING website and visualized by Cytoscape. According to the "MCC" method of the plug-in cytoHubba in Cytoscape, ERCC4 was the top hub gene of the PPI network. We constructed a lncRNA_FGF7-5/lncRNA_GLRX3-miR-2681-5p-ERCC4 regulatory network for carotid plaque using lncRNA-miRNA and miRNA-mRNA pairs. Next, lncRNA_FGF7-5 and lncRNA_GLRX3 targeted miR-2681-5p directly to upregulate ERCC4 expression. Silencing of lncRNA_FGF7-5 and lncRNA_GLRX3 promoted apoptosis and TP53 expression in HUVECs treated with ox-LDL; however, these effects were reversed by ERCC4-overexpression. Taken together, these findings indicated that lncRNA_FGF7-5 and lncRNA_GLRX3 together reduced atherosclerosis-induced apoptosis of HUVECs via targeting miR-2681-5p to increase ERCC4 expression, thereby preventing the formation of carotid plaque and finally inhibiting atherosclerosis progression.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To explore the value of the diagnostic-driven therapy with voriconazole in patients with hematological disorders complicated by invasive fungal disease (IFD). METHODS: A total of 111 patients with hematological disorders complicated by IFD, treated with voriconazole in the hematology department of the General Hospital of South Theatre Command from July 2019 to July 2020, were retrospectively analyzed to compare the differences between the empirical therapy and the diagnostic-driven therapy on the treatment time of voriconazole, hospitalization days and antifungal efficacy. SPSS 23.0 was used for statistical analysis of data. RESULTS: Compared with the diagnostic-driven therapy group, the empirical therapy group had more IFD high-risk patients, including a higher proportion of agranulocytosis patients (95.2% vs 69.5%, P=0.003). However, there were no significant differences on the treatment time of voriconazole, hospitalization days and antifungal efficacy of voriconazole between the two groups. CONCLUSION: Using diagnostic-driven therapy in relatively IFD low-risk patients can obtain similar therapeutic outcomes and prognosis as empirical therapy in high-risk patients. Either of two strategies can be used in clinical practice according to the individual conditions of patients.

RESUMO

AIMS: Exercise confers protection against cardiovascular ageing, but the mechanisms remain largely unknown. This study sought to investigate the role of fibronectin type-III domain-containing protein 5 (FNDC5)/irisin, an exercise-associated hormone, in vascular ageing. Moreover, the existence of FNDC5/irisin in circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs) and their biological functions was explored. METHODS AND RESULTS: FNDC5/irisin was reduced in natural ageing, senescence, and angiotensin II (Ang II)-treated conditions. The deletion of FNDC5 shortened lifespan in mice. Additionally, FNDC5 deficiency aggravated vascular stiffness, senescence, oxidative stress, inflammation, and endothelial dysfunction in 24-month-old naturally aged and Ang II-treated mice. Conversely, treatment of recombinant irisin alleviated Ang II-induced vascular stiffness and senescence in mice and vascular smooth muscle cells. FNDC5 was triggered by exercise, while FNDC5 knockout abrogated exercise-induced protection against Ang II-induced vascular stiffness and senescence. Intriguingly, FNDC5 was detected in human and mouse blood-derived EVs, and exercise-induced FNDC5/irisin-enriched EVs showed potent anti-stiffness and anti-senescence effects in vivo and in vitro. Adeno-associated virus-mediated rescue of FNDC5 specifically in muscle but not liver in FNDC5 knockout mice, promoted the release of FNDC5/irisin-enriched EVs into circulation in response to exercise, which ameliorated vascular stiffness, senescence, and inflammation. Mechanistically, irisin activated DnaJb3/Hsp40 chaperone system to stabilize SIRT6 protein in an Hsp70-dependent manner. Finally, plasma irisin concentrations were positively associated with exercise time but negatively associated with arterial stiffness in a proof-of-concept human study. CONCLUSION: FNDC5/irisin-enriched EVs contribute to exercise-induced protection against vascular ageing. These findings indicate that the exerkine FNDC5/irisin may be a potential target for ageing-related vascular comorbidities.

RESUMO

Based on the daily monitoring data of urban air quality in Shandong province from 2016 to 2020, combined with socio-economic data such as population density and urbanization rate, as well as meteorological data such as wind speed, temperature, and relative humidity, the methods of geographic weighted regression (GWR), multiscale geographically weighted regression (MGWR), and wavelet analysis were comprehensively applied to explore the temporal and spatial distribution characteristics of air pollutants and their relationship with socio-economic and meteorological elements. The results showed that:① In the past five years, the air quality in Shandong province has shown an overall improvement trend. Except for ozone, the concentrations of SO2, NO2, PM2.5, and PM10 decreased annually. Additionally, their distribution had obvious spatial differences, which was reflected in the lower concentration of air pollutants in coastal areas. ② PM2.5 in Shandong province had an extremely significant positive correlation with population density and the proportion of secondary industry (P<0.01) but had a very negative correlation with urbanization rate (P<0.01). Moreover, there were scale differences in the spatial relationship. The spatial relationship between population density, civil vehicle volume, industrial power consumption, and PM2.5 was relatively stable, whereas the spatial heterogeneity of the impact of urbanization rate and the proportion of secondary industry on PM2.5 concentration was high. ③ Meteorological factors had different effects on PM2.5 in Heze and Weihai. PM2.5 in Heze had a stronger correlation with air temperature, relative humidity, and sunshine hours, whereas sea land breeze prevailed in Weihai, resulting in a higher correlation between PM2.5 and wind speed. ④ Wavelet analysis showed that the frequency of air pollution in Heze was higher than that in Weihai, approximately one-two weeks/time in winter. In the annual cycle, the PM2.5 in Heze lagged behind the wind speed, whereas the PM2.5 and wind speed in Weihai were in the same phase. To summarize, there were obvious temporal and spatial differences in air quality in Shandong province, which was comprehensively affected by socio-economic and meteorological factors.

RESUMO

We examined the effects of nitrification inhibitors (NIs) on soil nitrification, maize yield and nitrogen use efficiency (NUE), aiming to screen out high efficiency stabilized ammonium chloride fertilizer in red soil. Nitrification inhibitors 2-chloro-6-trimethyl-pyridine (CP), 3, 4-dimethyl-pyrazolate phosphate (DMPP), and dicyandiamide (DCD) and their combinations were added into ammonium chloride (NH4Cl) to make six stabilized nitrogen fertilizers. With blank (CK) and NH4Cl (N) as the controls, we conducted a maize pot experiment with the same amount of nitrogen addition. The results showed that compared with the treatment of N, soil ammonium content in CP+DMPP and DMPP+DCD increased by 56%-62%, which was significantly higher than that in CP, DMPP, and DCD, while the apparent nitrification rate of red soil was significantly reduced by 33%-34%. All the six treatments with nitrification inhibitors and their combinations significantly improved biomass and nitrogen absorption efficiency of maize. Compared with the N treatment, the application of adding NIs alone was significantly higher than that of the treatments of NIs combinations, with an average of 1.3 times increase. DCD was the most efficient one in improving maize yield, nitrogen uptake, and nitrogen adsorption efficiency, which increased by 4.1, 6.3 and 4.4 times, respectively. Comprehensively, DCD performed the best in reducing cost and improving yield and nitrogen use efficiency in red soil.

RESUMO

We carried out pot experiment to investigate nitrogen transformation characteristics, yield increasing effect, and apparent utilization rate of nitrogen fertilizer in loess soils by combining chemi-cal inhibitor and biostimulant humic acid to investigate the application effect and provide a theoretical basis for new type highly efficient and stable urea in loess soil. In this study, blank (CK) and urea (N) were set as controls, and humic acid alone (F), N-butyl thiophosphate-triamine (NBPT), 3,4-dimethyl-pyrazolate phosphate (DMPP), 2-chloro-6-trimethyl-pyridine (CP) and humic acid were respectively combined with three biochemical inhibitors to urea. The results showed that compared with N treatment, F, NBPT+F, DMPP+F, CP+F treatments significantly increased maize yield, chlorophyll content, leaf area index and nitrogen uptake, and had obvious effects on soil available nitrogen contents. The addition of humic acid increased chlorophyll content of maize leaves in all cases compared to the application of biochemical inhibitors alone. Compared with CP treatment, CP+F treatment could significantly increase nitrogen uptake, chlorophyll content, and nitrogen adsorption efficiency of maize. Addition of humic acid with NBPT increased nitrification inhibition rate by 10.7% compared with NBPT alone, but decreased yield, leaf area index, nitrogen uptake, nitrogen use efficiency. Compared with DMPP treatment, DMPP+F treatment significantly reduced maize yield, leaf area index, nitrogen uptake, nitrogen use efficiency and nitrification inhibition rate. Considering maize yield, plant N uptake, N fertilizer uptake rate and soil ammonium N and nitrate N contents, the addition of humic acid and CP is recommended for urea application in loess areas to enhance urea performance, yield, and fertilizer utilization.

RESUMO

A series of Fe(III) complexes [Fe(5-F-sal-N-1,4,7,10)]Y (Y = PF6- for 1, Y = ClO4- for 2, Y = I- for 3 and Y = NO3- for 4) have been prepared. Single-crystal X-ray crystallographic studies show that complex 1 crystallizes in the orthorhombic Pna21 space group and complexes 2-4 have an isomorphous structure and crystallize in the same monoclinic space group, P21/n. Complexes 2-4 have two independent molecules (Fe1 and Fe2) in the unit cell. Magnetic susceptibility measurements demonstrated that complexes 1 and 3 showed a gradual one-step SCO behavior (T1/2 for 1 = 177 K and for 3 = 227 K) without thermal hysteresis. The magnetic behavior of 2 shows an incomplete two-step SCO process at T1/2 = 114 K and 170 K, respectively, while 4 is in a high-spin state at all measured temperatures. A careful evaluation of the supramolecular structures of these complexes revealed correlation between the supramolecular packing forces and their SCO behavior. The crystal structure of 1 consists of a three-dimensional (3D) extended network constructed from N-H⋯F and C-H⋯F hydrogen bonds, and C-H⋯π and C⋯C short contacts. In compounds 2-4, the crystal packing is governed by C⋯C, C-H⋯π and p-π interactions for the Fe1 centers and by C-H⋯π/O interactions for the Fe2 centers, which form 1D chains. Additional interactions (C-H⋯F and N-H⋯O/I) connect the neighboring chains and planes to form a complex supramolecular network. The anion⋯π interactions in 4 provide a means for preventing SCO occurring at low temperatures. This suggests that the supramolecular connectivity of the anions influences the magnetic properties.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Senkyunolide I (SEI), a component of a Chinese herb named Ligusticum Chuanxiong hort, which is included in the formulation of Xuebijing Injection, a medication used to treat sepsis in China. Our previous study showed that SEI was protective against sepsis-associated encephalopathy and the present study was performed to investigate the role of SEI in sepsis-induced lung injury in a murine model of cecal ligation and puncture (CLP). METHODS: SEI (36 mg/kg in 200 µl) or vehicle was administered immediately after CLP surgery. The lung injury was assessed 24 h later by histopathological tests, protein concentration in the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF), neutrophil recruitment in the lung tissue (myeloperoxidase fluorescence, MPO), pro-inflammatory cytokines and oxidative responses. Platelet activation was detected by CD42d/GP5 immunofluorescence and neutrophil extracellular trap (NET) were determined by immunofluorescence assays and enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) of MPO-DNA. In vitro experiments were performed to detect the level of MPO-DNA complex released by SEI-treated neutrophils stimulated with phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA) or co-cultured with platelets from CLP mice. RESULTS: SEI administration relieved the injury degree in CLP mice according to the histopathological tests (P < 0.05 compared with DMSO + CLP group). Protein level in the BALF and neutrophil infiltration were remarkably reduced by SEI after CLP surgery (P < 0.05 compared with DMSO + CLP group). TNF-α, IL-1ß and IL-6 were decreased in the plasma and lung tissues from CLP mice treated with SEI (P < 0.05 compared with DMSO + CLP group). The phosphorylation of JNK, ERK, p38 and p65 were all inhibited by SEI (P < 0.05 compared with DMSO + CLP group). Immunofluorescence of MPO showed that neutrophil number was significantly lower in SEI treated CLP mice than in vehicle treated CLP mice (P < 0.05). The CD42d/GP5 staining suggested that platelet activation was significantly reduced and the NET level in the lung tissue and plasma was greatly attenuated by SEI treatment (P < 0.05 compared with DMSO + CLP group). In vitro experiments showed that the MPO-DNA level stimulated by PMA was significantly reduced by SEI treatment (P < 0.05 compared with DMSO treatment). Co-culture neutrophils with platelets from CLP mice resulted in higher level of MPO-DNA complex, while SEI partly reversed such effects of platelet on NET formation. CONCLUSIONS: SEI was protective against lung injury induced by CLP in mice. The NET formation was significantly reduced by SEI treatment, which might be involved in the mechanism of the protective effect.

RESUMO

The effect of counter anions on thermally induced manganese(iii)-based SCO within the [Mn(5-F-sal-N-1,5,8,12)]Y family has been investigated. All the complexes are crystallized without any lattice solvents. Crystal packing and intermolecular forces influence the spin-state stabilization and spin-transition profiles. Magnetic measurements indicate that salts with octahedral anions, [Mn(5-F-sal-N-1,5,8,12)]PF6 (1), [Mn(5-F-sal-N-1,5,8,12)]AsF6 (2) and [Mn(5-F-sal-N-1,5,8,12)]SbF6 (3), show HS electronic configurations between 2 and 300 K, and there exist π-π stackings between the phenyl groups from the neighboring [Mn(5-F-sal-N-1,5,8,12)]+ cations. As for the tetrahedral anions, complex [Mn(5-F-sal-N-1,5,8,12)]BF4 (4) exhibits a gradual and incomplete spin conversion. Complex [Mn(5-F-sal-N-1,5,8,12)] ClO4 (5) shows a nearly complete SCO with T1/2 = 100 K. The remaining salts with spherical anions form Nam-HX (X = Cl, Br, I) hydrogen bonds between Mn(iii) cations and counterions. Complexes [Mn(5-F-sal-N-1,5,8,12)]Cl (6) and [Mn(5-F-sal-N-1,5,8,12)] Cl0.28Br0.72 (7) feature gradual SCO behaviors with T1/2 = 220 K and 235 K, respectively. Complex [Mn(5-F-sal-N-1,5,8,12)]I (8) exhibits a more gradual spin conversion and is far from a complete HS state with a χMT value of 1.89 cm3 mol-1 K at 400 K.

RESUMO

We studied the effects of urease/nitrification inhibitor combinations on urea hydrolysis and nitrification, aiming to screen out the effective inhibitor combinations for black soil and cinnamon soil in Northeast China. Urease inhibitor, N-butyl thiophosphate-triamine (NBPT), and its combination with nitrification inhibitor dicyandiamide (DCD), 3, 4-dimethylpyrazole phosphate (DMPP), 2-chloro-6 (trichloromethyl)-pyridine (CP), 2-amino-4-chloro-6-methylpyrimidine (AM) and 3-methylpyrazole (MP) were added to urea separately. Samples were collected 15 times in each of all the treatments during 125 days. We examined the changes of urea nitrogen, ammo-nium, nitrate, and nitrification inhibition rate in the two soils. Our results showed the hydrolysis of urea in black soil and cinnamon soil was about 7 d, and the addition of NBPT with or without diffe-rent nitrification inhibitors slowed down the hydrolysis to 21 d at least. Compared with the treatment with common urea, inhibitor addition significantly increased soil NH4+-N, decreased soil NO3--N, and maintained the high NH4+-N content in soil for a longer time. In black soil, application with nitrification inhibitor inhibited soil nitrification significantly and lasted for more than 125 d. DMPP and CP combined with NBPT increased the NH4+-N content in black soil by 1.6-1.8 times, while the nitrification inhibition rate was 47.9% and 24.1% at 125 d, respectively. In the cinnamon soil, the application of nitrification inhibitor could prolong the duration of ammonium oxidation from 80 d to 110 d. DCD and DMPP combined with NBPT increased the NH4+-N content in cinnamon soil by 2.1-3.4 times, while the nitrification inhibition rates at 125 d were 25.3% and 23.2%, respectively. Therefore, NBPT+DMPP combination with urea was recommended for utilization in black soil, followed by NBPT+CP. In cinnamon soil, NBPT+DCD combination with urea was recommended, followed by NBPT+DMPP.

RESUMO

Rhizobia are capable of establishing compatible symbiosis with their hosts of origin and plants in the cross-nodulation group that the hosts of origin belonged to. However, different from the normal peanut Bradyrhizobium (Type I strains), the Type II strains showed incompatible symbiosis with Vigna radiata. Here, we employed transposon mutagenesis to identify the genetic loci related to this incompatibility in Type II strain CCBAU 53363. As results, seven Tn5 transposon insertion mutants resulted in an increase in nodule number on V. radiata. By sequencing analysis of the sequence flanking Tn5 insertion, six mutants were located in the chromosome of CCBAU 53363, respectively encoding acyltransferase (L265) and hypothetical protein (L615)-unique to CCBAU 53363, two hypothetical proteins (L4 and L82), tripartite tricarboxylate transporter substrate binding protein (L373), and sulfur oxidation c-type cytochrome SoxA (L646), while one mutant was in symbiotic plasmid encoding alanine dehydrogenase (L147). Significant differences were observed in L147 gene sequences and the deduced protein 3D structures between the Type II (in symbiotic plasmid) and Type I strains (in chromosome). Conversely, strains in both types shared high homologies in the chromosome genes L373 and L646 and in their protein 3D structures. These data indicated that the symbiotic plasmid gene in Type II strains might have directly affected their symbiosis incompatibility, whereas the chromosome genes might be indirectly involved in this process by regulating the plasmid symbiosis genes. The seven genes may initially explain the complication associated with symbiotic incompatibility.
