RESUMO

A new class of anabolic substances includes different saponins, originated from Leuzea rhaponticum sp. The effect of these substances on the human body was studied by caliperometric measurements of body folds. All tested substances taken orally for three weeks diminished fat content under conditions of daily aerobic-anaerobic training. Ekdisten and Prime Plus (combination of ekdisten and pure protein) elevated the muscle mass. The same effect of leventon was less pronounced. We showed that all substances studied elevated the magnitude of "total work", estimated per 1 kg of body weight. Ekdisten and Prime Plus again appeared to be most efficient. The prospects of using the saponins in sport medicine are discussed.

RESUMO

The action of estron, 17beta-estradiol and estriol on the extent of histone binding with DNA in the reconstituted nucleohistones was studied; also the influence of these hormones on the thermal denaturation of nucleoproteins was investigated. As revealed, estrogens in a concentration of 10(-5) M failed to alter the protein/DNA weight ratio in the patially reconstituted nucleohistones F1, F2a, F2b, F3 and in the sum total nucleohistone reconstituted from the DNA and the equimolar complex of histones F2a, F2b, F3. Treatment with estrogens in the mentioned concentration did not alter the melting point of all the nucleohistones under study. The influence of estrogens on the thermal denaturation of the sum total nucleohistone and of the partially reconstituted nucleohistones F2a, F2b, and F3 consisted of the enhancement of hyperchromic effect of the first melting phase and a corresponding reduction of hyperchromicity of the rest of the phases. Estrogens failed to alter the heat denaturation profile of the partially reconstructed nucleohistone F1.

RESUMO

Binding of 17beta-estradiol with histones of calf thymus and the influence of the hormone on heart denaturing of partially reconstructed nucleohistones were investigated. By the degree of the hormone binding histone fractions could be arranged in the following order: F2a greater than F3 greater than F1 greater than or equal F2b. Addition of 17beta-estradiol gave rise to increase of the first and a corresponding decrease of the second melting phase of partially reconstructed nucleohistones F2a, F3 and F2b. Addition of the hormone to the partially reconstructed nucleohistone F1 gave rise to the opposite changes in the heat denaturing profile.
