Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) was established as a treatment for severe cardiac or respiratory disease. Intra-device clot formation is a common risk. This is based on complex coagulation phenomena which are not yet sufficiently understood. The objective was the development and validation of a methodology to capture the key properties of clots deposed in membrane lungs (MLs), such as clot size, distribution, burden, and composition. One end-of-therapy PLS ML was examined. Clot detection was performed using multidetector computed tomography (MDCT), microcomputed tomography (µCT), and photography of fiber mats (fiber mat imaging, FMI). Histological staining was conducted for von Willebrand factor (vWF), platelets (CD42b, CD62P), fibrin, and nucleated cells (4', 6-diamidino-2-phenylindole, DAPI). The three imaging methods showed similar clot distribution inside the ML. Independent of the imaging method, clot loading was detected predominantly in the inlet chamber of the ML. The µCT had the highest accuracy. However, it was more expensive and time consuming than MDCT or FMI. The MDCT detected the clots with low scanning time. Due to its lower resolution, it only showed clotted areas but not the exact shape of clot structures. FMI represented the simplest variant, requiring little effort and resources. FMI allowed clot localization and calculation of clot volume. Histological evaluation indicated omnipresent immunological deposits throughout the ML. Visually clot-free areas were covered with leukocytes and platelets forming platelet-leukocyte aggregates (PLAs). Cells were embedded in vWF cobwebs, while vWF fibers were negligible. In conclusion, the presented methodology allowed adequate clot identification and histological classification of possible thrombosis markers such as PLAs.

Mesenteric ischemia diagnosis is challenging, with an overall mortality of up to 50% of cases despite advances in treatment. The main problem that affects the outcome is delayed diagnosis because of non-specific clinical presentation. Multi-Detector CT Angiography (MDCTA) is the first-line investigation for the suspected diagnosis of vascular abdominal pathologies and the diagnostic test of choice in suspected mesenteric bowel ischemia. MDCTA can accurately detect the presence of arterial and venous thrombosis, determine the extent and the gastrointestinal tract involved, and provide detailed information determining the subtype and the stage progression of the diseases, helping clinicians and surgeons with appropriate management. CT (Computed Tomography) can differentiate forms that are still susceptible to pharmacological or interventional treatment (NOM = non-operative management) from advanced disease with transmural necrosis in which a surgical approach is required. Knowledge of CT imaging patterns and corresponding vascular pathways is mandatory in emergency settings to reach a prompt and accurate diagnosis. The aims of this paper are 1. to provide technical information about the optimal CTA (CT Angiography) protocol; 2. to explain the CTA arterial and venous supply to the gastrointestinal tract and the relevant ischemic pattern; and 3. to describe vascular, bowel, and extraintestinal CT findings for the diagnosis of acute mesenteric ischemia.

Background: Unicuspid aortic valve (UAV) represents a rare congenital anomaly characterized by two subtypes: acommissural unicuspid aortic valve and unicommissural unicuspid aortic valve. Acommissural UAV is often diagnosed and corrected during the neonatal period due to haemodynamic instability. Unicommissural UAV leads to aortic stenosis (AS) in early adulthood. The diagnostic challenge associated with UAV primarily stems from its eccentric orifice opening and valvular calcification, resulting in difficult visualization of the commissures and localization of the orifice plane. This case report aims to demonstrate the unique morphological features of UAV through a comprehensive analysis using multimodality imaging. Case summary: A 61-year-old woman presented to the emergency department for recurrent episodes of dyspnoea. Severe AS was diagnosed on transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) by Doppler haemodynamic measurement. However, follow-up transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) and CT transcatheter aortic valve replacement showed moderate AS by planimetry. Following this, patient was monitored closely, but her dyspnoea kept worsening. Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) was performed due to persistent dyspnoea, identifying UAV with eccentric loophole orifice with unicommissural attachment and opposite free leaflet edge. The patient was managed medically. Discussion: TTE is the test of choice for AS that defines valvular morphology by direct visualization and grades the severity by haemodynamic measurement. However, the accuracy of TTE can be limited by poor acoustic windows and heavy valvular calcification. TEE measures aortic valve area (AVA) by planimetry that requires accurate localization of the AV orifice plane. Similarly, it applies to multi-detector computed tomography (MDCT). While CMR is expensive and mainly available in tertiary centres, it can provide additional information when there is discordance.

Background: Intestinal lipoma is considered the most common benign tumor that causes intussusception. This retrospective case-control study aimed to present the clinical and multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) features between intestinal lipomas with and without intussusception and examine risk factors that predict intussusception caused by intestinal lipomas. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 281 adult patients diagnosed with intestinal lipoma by radiologists using whole-abdominal MDCT between January 2015 and August 2022. Patients were divided into adult intussusception (AI) and non-AI groups based on MDCT images. Univariate logistic regression was performed to identify risk factors for intestinal lipoma-induced intussusception. Results: A total of 281 patients with intestinal lipomas were included in the study, with an average age of 68.0±11.3 years, and the male to female ratio was about 1:1.4. Among them, 24 patients developed lipoma-induced intussusception. Patients in the AI group presented with more abdominal pain (70.8% vs. 47.1%, P=0.03), nausea/vomiting (37.5% vs. 14.8%, P=0.009), hematochezia/melena (29.2% vs. 11.3%, P=0.02), and abdominal tenderness (66.7% vs. 24.9%, P<0.001). Lipomas were more common in the small bowel (224/281, 79.7%) than the large bowel (57/281, 20.3%). Lipomas in the AI group showed more heterogeneous hypodensity (41.7% vs. 15.6%, P=0.004), longer length (median, 2.2 vs. 1.2 cm, P<0.001), and larger volume (median, 4.1 vs. 0.6 cm3, P<0.001). In the univariate logistic regression, lipoma density [odds ratio (OR) =3.875, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.609-9.331, P=0.003] and lipoma length (OR =3.216, 95% CI: 1.977-5.231, P<0.001) were risk factors for intestinal lipoma-induced intussusception. Conclusions: More patients in the AI group have digestive tract symptoms than those in the non-AI group. Lipoma density and length are risk factors for intussusception in patients with intestinal lipoma. In addition, the common site of intestinal lipoma may have changed from the colon to the small intestine.

The interaction between the right upper pulmonary vein (RUPV) and the right lower pulmonary vein (RLPV) is poorly understood. In this paper, using transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) and 80-slice multidetector computed tomography (80-MDCT), we report that the RUPV thrombi and the RLPV thrombi invade the left atrium (LA) and reach the anterior wall of the LA. To our knowledge, this is the first study to directly show the connection between the RUPV thrombi and the RLPV thrombi on the anterior wall of the LA using TEE and 80-MDCT.

Pulmonary vein thrombosis is common and underdiagnosed. Previously, we reported several cases of pulmonary vein thrombi (PVTs) using cardiac computed tomography (CT) and transesophageal echocardiography (TEE). We reported that warfarin and direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) partially resolved PVTs; however, it is difficult to resolve all PVTs completely. Therefore, we evaluated the effects of standard-dose heparin-warfarin remedy on PVTs and left atrium (LA) thrombi using TEE and cardiac CT. A 64-year-old male with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and hypertension was assessed for thrombi in the LA and pulmonary veins using TEE and 80-slice multidetector computed tomography (80-MDCT). After one month of standard-dose heparin-warfarin remedy, the patient's right superior pulmonary vein (RSPV) thrombi and expanded LA thrombi from the RSPV thrombi had partially resolved. The RSPV thrombi and the expanded LA thrombi from the RSPV thrombi were detected using cardiac CT and TEE; however, they were depicted as black areas on TEE. They periodically moved inward with the patient's heartbeats. Additionally, the standard-dose heparin-warfarin remedy ameliorated the patient's T2DM, and the remedy effect could be maintained for five months to some extent by administering a standard dose of warfarin. The standard-dose heparin-warfarin remedy can ameliorate not only T2DM but also diabetic complications such as diabetic nephropathy and gestational diabetes mellitus.

OBJECTIVE: Although there is growing evidence that ultrasonography is superior to X-ray for rib fractures' detection, X-ray is still indicated as the most appropriate method. This has partially been attributed to a lack of studies using an appropriate reference modality. We aimed to compare the diagnostic accuracy of ultrasonography and X-ray in the detection of rib fractures, considering CT as the reference standard. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Within a 2.5-year period, all consecutive patients with clinically suspected rib fracture(s) following blunt chest trauma and available posteroanterior/anteroposterior X-ray and thoracic CT were prospectively studied and planned to undergo thoracic ultrasonography, by a single operator. All imaging examinations were evaluated for cortical rib fracture(s), and their location was recorded. The cartilaginous rib portions were not assessed. CTs and X-rays were evaluated retrospectively. Concomitant thoracic/extra-thoracic injuries were assessed on CT. Comparisons were performed with the Mann-Whitney U test and Fisher's exact test. RESULTS: Fifty-nine patients (32 males, 27 females; mean age, 53.1 ± 16.6 years) were included. CT, ultrasonography, and X-ray (40 posteroanterior/19 anteroposterior views) diagnosed 136/122/42 rib fractures in 56/54/27 patients, respectively. Ultrasonography and X-ray had sensitivity of 100%/40% and specificity of 89.7%/30.9% for rib fractures' detection. Ultrasound accuracy was 94.9% compared to 35.4% for X-rays (P < .001) in detecting individual rib fractures. Most fractures involved the 4th-9th ribs. Upper rib fractures were most commonly overlooked on ultrasonography. Thoracic cage/spine fractures and haemothorax represented the most common concomitant injuries. CONCLUSION: Ultrasonography appeared to be superior to X-ray for the detection of rib fractures with regard to a reference CT.

Ischemic stroke (IS) causes various degrees of disability that sometimes induce social problems: therefore, preventing the occurrence and recurrence of IS is important. The recovery of motor function has been extensively studied. The characteristics of retrieved thrombi have become clearer; however, it is unclear what thrombi cause IS. Pulmonary vein thrombi (PVTs), such as those of the IS, can cause systemic thrombosis, by releasing several sizes of particles. PVTs are common but are underrated and can be detected via enhanced computed tomography (CT) and transesophageal echocardiography (TEE). PVTs often extend to the left atrium (LA) and can be mainly diagnosed using not enhanced CT but rather TEE. Extended LA thrombi are characterized by a lack of periodic movement with heartbeats. Direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) are useful for preventing IS. We reported that rivaroxaban partially dissolved LA thrombi and PVTs using enhanced CT and TEE; however, the effects of edoxaban on LA thrombi and PVTs are unclear. We checked the images using enhanced CT and TEE and treated them with edoxaban. The patient was a 73-year-old female with easy fatigability. Edoxaban desirably affected the LA thrombi, and edoxaban partially dissolved the thrombi in the right lower pulmonary vein (RLPV). A decreased dose of edoxaban (15 mg, once a day) had similar effects on LA thrombi and RLPV thrombi, suggesting that this treatment could be useful for preventing IS.

BACKGROUND: Different imaging techniques, such as multi-detector computed tomography (MDCT) scan and cone beam computed tomography(CBCT), are used to check the structure of the nose before rhinoplasty. This study aimed to evaluate the accuracy of two imaging techniques, MDCT scan, and CBCT, in diagnosing structural Variations in rhinoplasty for the first time. METHODS: This diagnostic accuracy study was conducted on 64 rhinoplasty candidates who complained of snoring and sleep apnea or had a positive result in the examination with Cottle's maneuver or modified Cottle technique between February 2021 and October 2022 at 15- Khordad Hospital affiliated to Beheshti University of Medical Sciences. Before rhinoplasty, patients were randomly assigned to one of the CT and CBCT techniques with an equal ratio. Scans were assessed for the presence of Nasal septum deviation (NSD), Mucocele, Concha bullosa, and nasal septal spur by two independent radiologists. The findings of the two methods were evaluated with the results during rhinoplasty as the gold standard. RESULTS: NSD was the most common anatomical variation based on both imaging techniques. The accuracy of CBCT for diagnosing Nasal Septum Deviation and Mucocele was 80% and 75%, respectively. The sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of CBCT in detecting Concha bullosa were 81.3% and 83.3%, respectively. The Kappa coefficient between CBCT and intraoperative findings for diagnosing NSD and Concha Bullosa was 0.76 and 0.73, respectively (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: CBCT can be considered a suitable method with high accuracy and quality to evaluate the anatomical variations before rhinoplasty.

BACKGROUND: Poor weight loss and weight regain are principal challenges following laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG). There is a lack of standardised assessments and diagnostic tests to stratify the status post-LSG and determine whether anatomical or physiological problem exists. We aimed to compare nuclear scintigraphy gastric emptying with CT volumetric analysis of sleeve anatomy and determine the impact of anatomy on physiological function and its correlation with weight loss. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Patients greater than 12 months post-LSG were categorised into optimal weight loss (OWL) (n = 29) and poor weight loss groups (PWL) (n = 50). All patients underwent a protocolised nuclear scintigraphy and three-dimensional multi-detector computed tomography (3D-MDCT) gastric volumetry imaging. RESULTS: Post-operative % total weight loss in OWL was 26.2 ± 10.5% vs. 14.2 ± 10.7% in the PWL group (p value < 0.0001). The PWL group had significantly more delayed gastric emptying half-time than OWL (34.1 ± 18.8 vs. 19.5 ± 4.7, p value < 0.0001). Gastric emptying half-time showed statistically significant correlations with weight loss parameters (BMI; r = 0.215, p value 0.048, %EWL; r = - 0.336, p value 0.002 and %TWL; r = - 0.379, p value < 0.001). The median gastric volume on 3D-MDCT did not differ between the OWL (246 (IQR 50) ml) and PWL group (262 (IQR 129.5) ml), p value 0.515. Nuclear scintigraphy gastric emptying half-time was the most highly discriminant measure. A threshold of 21.2 min distinguished OWL from PWL patients with 86.4% sensitivity and 68.4% specificity. CONCLUSION: Nuclear scintigraphy is a potentially highly accurate tool in the functional assessment of sleeve gastrectomy physiology. It appears to perform better as a diagnostic test than volumetric assessment. Gastric volume did not correlate with weight loss outcomes. We have established diagnostic criteria of greater than 21 min to assess sleeve failure, which is linked to suboptimal weight loss outcomes.

BACKGROUND: This study aimed to evaluate the congenital anomalies of ribs in the Turkish population using multi-detector computed tomography (CT) and to reveal the prevalence and distribution of these anomalies according to sexes and body sides. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This study included 1120 individuals (592 male, 528 female) over 18 who presented to our hospital with a suspicion of COVID-19 and who had thoracic CT. Anomalies such as a bifid rib, cervical rib, fused rib, Srb anomaly, foramen rib, hypoplastic rib, absent rib, supernumerary rib, pectus carinatum, and pectus excavatum, which were previously defined in the literature, were examined. Descriptive statistics were performed with the distribution of anomalies. Comparisons were made between the sexes and body sides. RESULTS: A prevalence of 18.57% rib variation was observed. Females had 1.3 times more variation than males. Although there was a significant difference in the distribution of anomalies by sex (p = 0.000), there was no difference in terms of body side of anomaly (p > 0.05). The most common anomaly was the hypoplastic rib, followed by the absence of a rib. While the incidence of the hypoplastic rib was similar in females and males, 79.07% of the absent ribs was seen in females (p < 0.05). The study also includes a rare case of bilateral first rib foramen. At the same time, this study includes a rare case of rib spurs extending from the left 11th rib to the 11th intercostal space. CONCLUSIONS: This study demonstrates detailed information about congenital rib anomalies in the Turkish population, which may vary between people. Knowing these anomalies is essential for anatomy, radiology, anthropology, and forensic sciences.

BACKGROUND: The objective of this study is to determine the morphological computed tomography features of the tumor and texture analysis parameters, which may be a useful diagnostic tool for the preoperative prediction of high-risk gastrointestinal stromal tumors (HR GISTs). METHODS: This is a prospective cohort study that was carried out in the period from 2019 to 2022. The study included 79 patients who underwent CT examination, texture analysis, surgical resection of a lesion that was suspicious for GIST as well as pathohistological and immunohistochemical analysis. RESULTS: Textural analysis pointed out min norm (p = 0.032) as a histogram parameter that significantly differed between HR and LR GISTs, while min norm (p = 0.007), skewness (p = 0.035) and kurtosis (p = 0.003) showed significant differences between high-grade and low-grade tumors. Univariate regression analysis identified tumor diameter, margin appearance, growth pattern, lesion shape, structure, mucosal continuity, enlarged peri- and intra-tumoral feeding or draining vessel (EFDV) and max norm as significant predictive factors for HR GISTs. Interrupted mucosa (p < 0.001) and presence of EFDV (p < 0.001) were obtained by multivariate regression analysis as independent predictive factors of high-risk GISTs with an AUC of 0.878 (CI: 0.797-0.959), sensitivity of 94%, specificity of 77% and accuracy of 88%. CONCLUSION: This result shows that morphological CT features of GIST are of great importance in the prediction of non-invasive preoperative metastatic risk. The incorporation of texture analysis into basic imaging protocols may further improve the preoperative assessment of risk stratification.

Obstructive uropathy, a prevalent clinical problem, can irreparably harm the kidneys if not treated promptly. As a result, accurate diagnosis is necessary for prompt management. This study examines the utility of multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) urography in identifying obstructive uropathy. PubMed, Google, Embase, Medline, and other electronic databases were used to search the English-language literature. The search phrases were obstructive urinary infections or urinary bladder or kidneys or MDCT. The authors' expertise and experience in the subject area aided in archiving pertinent publications. Even though the dilated upper tract of the ureters can be seen, ultrasonography (USG) has limitations because it cannot show the middle portion of the ureters, even if they are dilated mostly due to bowel gas artifacts. The USG does not emphasize the functioning of the renal tract. To evaluate obstructive uropathy, MDCT urography plays a very important role. For speedy, effective therapy, it provides a quick diagnosis of the source of obstruction.

RESUMO

Total anomalous pulmonary venous connection (TAPVC) is a rare congenital cardiovascular malformation in which all four pulmonary veins anomalously drain into the right atrium (RA) either directly or indirectly. There are four main types based on the site of connection. Any type of TAPVC may be associated with obstruction and presents early in the neonatal period with cyanosis, tachycardia, or respiratory distress. We present four cases of all types of TAPVC and its imaging findings in multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) angiography. Cardiac CT and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are very useful in delineating the anatomy and drainage pathway of anomalous pulmonary veins. MDCT angiography is noninvasive and easily available, and rapid image acquisition is possible with high spatial resolution. Since early diagnosis and surgical correction are necessary for the survival of these neonates, rapid image acquisition using MDCT angiography can be preferred over MRI.

INTRODUCTION: A large jejunal diverticulum has been reported as a possible cause of volvulus and acute mesenteric ischemia (AMI) in adults. A large diverticulum of the small bowel complicated with volvulus has been reported before in literature. However, imaging findings of a large diverticulum of the small bowel complicated with both volvulus and AMI on MDCT are rarely described and reported. In this study, we reported a case with a large diverticulum, volvulus, and AMI concurrently; these three imaging findings were reviewed and described on MDCT, and the relevant literature was briefly introduced. CASE REPORT: We reported the case of a 69-year-old man who presented to our hospital with acute abdominal pain and vomiting. An emergent abdominal enhanced MDCT imaging was performed and demonstrated the volvulus secondary to a large diverticulum of the jejunum complicated with AMI. Here, a case was presented that highlighted unique imaging findings on MDCT, as well as a literature review. CONCLUSION: A review of the literature revealed that a single jejunal diverticulum causing both volvulus and AMI is rare in adults. To our knowledge, a systemic description of their signs on MDCT in a case has not been reported yet.

Left pulmonary artery (LPA) stenosis with acute angulation commonly necessitates surgical revision in the treatment of tetralogy of Fallot (TOF). We investigated the clinical characteristics of acute angulation of the LPA in patients with TOF via computed tomography (CT). Between 2011 and 2022, 160 patients were diagnosed with TOF using CT. After excluding 28 patients due to insufficient records or age, 132 patients were included in the present analysis. The patients were divided into two groups according to the presence or absence of acute angulation of the LPA: group I (TOF with an acute angle of the LPA, n = 53) and group II (TOF without an acute angle of the LPA, n = 79). We retrospectively collected clinical data from electronic medical records. T-tests were used to analyze continuous variables (i.e., age, sex, weight, right ventricular outflow tract [RVOT] pressure on echocardiography, and distance to bifurcation), and Fisher's exact and chi-square tests were used to analyze categorical data (i.e., presence of the right aortic arch, pulmonary arterial atresia/hypoplasia, atrial septal defect [ASD], patent ductus arteriosus [PDA], and pulmonary valve). The groups did not differ significantly in terms of sex, weight, presence of the right aortic arch, pulmonary arterial atresia/hypoplasia, ASD, or distance to the bifurcation. Moreover, there was no significant difference between the presence and absence of PDA (P = 0.057); however, patients in group I were significantly older (143.2 ± 97.8 days) than those in group II (91.1 ± 76.0 days, P = 0.002). Furthermore, RVOT pressure was significantly higher among patients in group I (45.1 ± 22.5 mmHg) than in group II (25.0 ± 12.4 mmHg, P < 0.001). In the current study, acute angulation of the LPA in patients with TOF, as observed on CT, was associated with older age and higher RVOT pressure on echocardiography.

PURPOSE: Childhood interstitial lung disease (chILD) is an umbrella concept covering a wide range of rare lung diseases, many of which are unique to childhood. The diagnosis is based on clinical presentation, multidetector computed tomography (MDCT), genetic testing, lung-function testing, and lung biopsy. Because knowledge of the usefulness of MDCT pattern recognition in ChILD is at present limited, we examined the occurrence of MDCT patterns in children with histologically confirmed interstitial lung disease. METHOD: We searched the biopsy, MDCT, and clinical information database of a single national paediatric referral hospital for 2004-2020. Data were from affected children under age 18. MDCT images we reanalysed while blinded to the identity and referral information. RESULTS: We included 90 patients, of whom 63 (70 %) were male. The median age at biopsy was 1.3 years (interquartile range 0.1-16.8). Biopsy findings fell into 26 histological classes covering all nine chILD classification categories. We recognized six distinct MDCT patterns: neuroendocrine cell hyperplasia of infancy (23), organizing pneumonia (5), non-specific interstitial pneumonia (4), bronchiolitis obliterans (3), pulmonary alveolar proteinosis (2), and bronchopulmonary dysplasia (n = 2). Of the total 90, in 51 (57 %) children, none of these six MDCT patterns appeared. Of those 39 children with a recognizable MDCT pattern, in 34 (87 %), that pattern predicted their final diagnosis. CONCLUSIONS: Among cases of chILD, we identified a specific predefined MDCT pattern in only 43 %. However, when such a recognizable pattern occurred, it was predictive of the final chILD diagnosis.

Pulmonary metastases in thyroid carcinoma demonstrates varying imaging characteristics and disease biology and the outcome. The valuable complimentary role of high-resolution CT (HRCT) in conjunction with functional imaging such as radioiodine scan has been discussed and illustrated in this review along with the varied clinical and imaging presentations of lung metastases from differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC). A multi-modality patient-specific diagnostic approach and awareness about the atypical presentations helps in early identification as well as effective management of these patients, and especially in certain situations that could need multi-disciplinary management. While HRCT of the lungs as an added tool provides detailed visualization of the lung parenchyma, in the era of hybrid imaging, the routine adoption of SPECT-CT in patients with pulmonary metastases (in diagnostic or post-treatment settings) could provide equivalent or even incremental information from further management viewpoint.

Multi-detector computed tomography (MDCT) is the gold standard non-invasive tool for evaluating aortic root dimensions. We assessed the agreement between 4D TEE and MDCT-derived aortic valve annular dimensions, coronary ostia height, and minor dimensions of sinuses of Valsalva (SoV) and sinotubular junction (STJ). In this prospective analytical study, we measured the annular area, annular perimeter, area-derived diameter, area-derived perimeter, left and right coronary ostial heights, and minor diameters of the SoV and the STJ using ECG-gated MDCT and 4D TEE. TEE measurements were calculated semi-automatically by the eSie valve software. We enrolled 43 adult patients (27 males, median age: 46 years). We found strong correlations and good agreement between the two modalities in annular dimensions (area, perimeter, area-derived diameter, and perimeter-derived diameter), left coronary ostial height, minimum STJ diameter, and minimum SoV diameters. Moderate correlations, and agreement, with relatively large differences between the 95% LOA, were demonstrated for the right coronary artery ostial height. 4D TEE correlates well with MDCT in measuring aortic annular dimensions, coronary ostial height, SoV minor diameter, and sinotubular junction minor diameter. Whether this can affect clinical outcomes is unknown. It could replace MDCT if the latter is unavailable or contraindicated.
