Desmoplastic small round cell tumor (DSRCT) is a high-grade, primitive round cell sarcoma classically associated with prominent desmoplastic stroma, coexpression of keratin and desmin, and a characteristic EWSR1::WT1 gene fusion. DSRCT typically arises in the abdominopelvic cavity of young males with diffuse peritoneal spread and poor overall survival. Although originally considered to be pathognomonic for DSRCT, EWSR1::WT1 gene fusions have recently been detected in rare tumors lacking the characteristic morphologic and immunohistochemical features of DSRCT. Here, we report 3 additional cases of neoplasms other than conventional DSCRCT with EWSR1::WT1 gene fusions that occurred outside the female genital tract. Two occurred in the abdominopelvic cavities of a 27-year-old man and a 12-year-old girl, whereas the third arose in the axillary soft tissue of an 85-year-old man. All cases lacked prominent desmoplastic stroma and were instead solid and cystic with peripheral fibrous pseudocapsules and occasional intervening fibrous septa. Necrosis was either absent (1/3) or rare (2/3), and mitotic activity was low (<1 to 3 per 10 hpf). In immunohistochemical studies, there was expression of smooth muscle actin (3/3) and desmin (3/3), rare to focal reactivity for EMA (2/3), and variable expression of CK AE1/AE3 (1/3). Myogenin and MyoD1 were negative, and C-terminus-specific WT1 was positive in both cases tested (2/2). All 3 tumors followed a more indolent clinical course with 2 cases demonstrating no evidence of disease at 20 and 44 months after resection. The patient from case 3 died of other causes at 14 months with no evidence of recurrence. DNA methylation profiling showed that the 3 cases clustered with DSRCT; however, they demonstrated fewer copy number variations with 2 cases having a flat profile (0% copy number variation). Differential methylation analysis with hierarchical clustering further showed variation between the 3 cases and conventional DSRCT. Although further study is needed, our results, in addition to previous reports, suggest that EWSR1::WT1 gene fusions occur in rare and seemingly distinctive tumors other than conventional DSRCT with indolent behavior. Proper classification of these unusual soft tissue tumors with EWSR1::WT1 gene fusions requires direct correlation with tumor morphology and clinical behavior, which is essential to avoid overtreatment with aggressive chemotherapy.

BACKGROUND: Cutaneous neurotropic melanoma (NM) of the head and neck (H&N) is prone to local relapse, possibly due to difficulties widely excising the tumor. This trial assessed radiation therapy (RT) to the primary site after local excision. METHODS: Participants from 15 international centers were randomized to observation or RT. The participants were required to have microscopically negative excision margins 5 mm wide or wider and no evidence of disease elsewhere. The primary outcome was time to local relapse. The secondary outcomes included time to any recurrence, overall survival (OS), and toxicity. RESULTS: The trial ceased prematurely due to slow recruitment and the COVID-19 pandemic. During 2009-2020, 50 participants were randomized: 23 to observation and 27 to RT. The most common NM subsites were scalp (32%), midface (22%), and lip (20%). The median depth of invasion was 5 mm, and desmoplasia observed in 69%. The median duration from randomization to last contact was 4.8 years. Four participants (8%) experienced local relapse as a first recurrence during the study period: 3 in the observation arm and 1 in the RT arm (hazard ratio [HR] 0.29; 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.03-2.76; p = 0.279). No statistically significant difference in time to any relapse or OS was observed. More than 6 months after randomization, grade 3 or greater toxicity was experienced by 10% of the participants in the observation arm and 12.5% of the participants in the RT arm of the study. CONCLUSION: Due to low accrual, the role of adjuvant RT for cutaneous NM of the H&N excised with microscopically negative margins 5 mm wide or wider remains undefined. Its routine use cannot be recommended. Local relapse might be less common than previously anticipated based on retrospective reports.

With an annual cumulative occurrence of approximately 15,000 in North America, all childhood cancers are rare. Very rare cancers as defined by both the European Cooperative Study Group for Rare Pediatric Cancers and the Children's Oncology Group fall into two principal categories: those so uncommon (fewer than 2 cases/million) that their study is challenging even through cooperative group efforts (e.g., pleuropulmonary blastoma and desmoplastic small round cell tumor) and those that are far more common in adults and therefore rarely studied in children (e.g., thyroid, melanoma, and gastrointestinal stromal tumor). Treatment strategies for these latter tumors are typically based on adult guidelines, although the pediatric variants of these tumors may harbor different genetic signatures and demonstrate different behavior. If melanoma and differentiated thyroid cancer are excluded, other rare cancer types account for only 2% of the cancers in children aged 0 to 14. This article highlights several of the most common rare tumor types.

The FOS gene family has been implicated in tumourigenesis across several tumour types, particularly mesenchymal tumours. The rare fibrous tumour desmoplastic fibroblastoma is characterised by overexpression of FOSL1. However, previous studies using cytogenetic and molecular techniques did not identify an underlying somatic change involving the FOSL1 gene to explain this finding. Prompted by an unusual index case, we report the discovery of a novel FOSL1 rearrangement in desmoplastic fibroblastoma using whole-genome and targeted RNA sequencing. We investigated 15 desmoplastic fibroblastomas and 15 fibromas of tendon sheath using immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridisation and targeted RNA sequencing. Rearrangements in FOSL1 and FOS were identified in 10/15 and 2/15 desmoplastic fibroblastomas respectively, which mirrors the pattern of FOS rearrangements observed in benign bone and vascular tumours. Fibroma of tendon sheath, which shares histological features with desmoplastic fibroblastoma, harboured USP6 rearrangements in 9/15 cases and did not demonstrate rearrangements in any of the four FOS genes. The overall concordance between FOSL1 immunohistochemistry and RNA sequencing results was 90%. These findings illustrate that FOSL1 and FOS rearrangements are a recurrent event in desmoplastic fibroblastoma, establishing this finding as a useful diagnostic adjunct and expanding the spectrum of tumours driven by FOS gene family alterations. © 2022 The Authors. Desmoplastic melanoma (DM), a type of spindle cell melanoma separated into pure desmoplastic melanoma (PDM) and mixed desmoplastic melanoma (MDM) subtypes, can be a diagnostic challenge and easily confused for dermal scar, especially PDM. We report a 65-year-old white man who received a left thumb amputation after an initial biopsy for melanoma, an unclassified type with epithelioid morphology. The amputation and sentinel lymph node specimens were significant for residual melanoma with epithelioid morphology, dermal scar, and a slightly expanded "scar-like" capsular area in one of seven lymph nodes, which was diffusely positive for SOX10 on reflex sentinel lymph node immunohistochemical protocol. On re-review of the amputation "scar" like area, a subsequent SOX10 stain confirmed the diagnosis of MDM in this area with epithelioid and spindle cell morphology, significantly upgrading the tumor stage. We share this case to highlight: (i) MDM, although exceptionally uncommon, can result in a pure spindle cell lymph node metastasis, (ii) to encourage increased utilization of SOX10 to assess sentinel lymph node biopsies, especially in the context of melanomas with a spindle cell component, and (iii) share an example of inattentional blindness which was fortunately identified by reflex sentinel lymph node immunohistochemical protocols.

BACKGROUND: Desmoplastic fibroblastoma (collagenous fibroma) is a rare soft tissue tumor that usually arises in the subcutis or skeletal muscle. Cases superficial to fascia are unusual and can cause diagnostic difficulty. We present 11 cases of superficial desmoplastic fibroblastoma involving a wide anatomic distribution. METHODS: Archives were searched using the term "desmoplastic fibroblastoma" over a 10-year period (2012-2022). Cases superficial to fascia were retrieved, and available clinicopathologic features were recorded. Only cases involving the dermis were included. RESULTS: Eleven cases were identified, all of which were received in consultation. Tumors involved the head and neck (2), lower extremity (2), back (2), foot (1), shoulder (1), axilla (1), hand (1), and breast (1). Each consisted of a hypocellular proliferation of bland stellate to spindled fibroblasts set in a collagenous to focally myxoid stroma. The immunohistochemical stains available for review demonstrated SMA positivity (4/7) and negative immunoreactivity for CD34 (0/6), EMA (0/3), desmin (0/3), and S100 (0/7). CONCLUSIONS: Desmoplastic fibroblastoma may present superficially in the dermis to subcutis, posing a potential source of diagnostic difficulty. Recognition of the characteristic histopathologic features of desmoplastic fibroblastoma with judicial use of immunohistochemical stains should allow for accurate diagnosis.

BACKGROUND/PURPOSE: In colorectal cancer, the morphological categorization of fibrotic cancer stroma in the invasive frontal zone of the primary tumor is well reflected in the prognosis. Conversely, the histological characteristics of pancreatic cancer (PC) reveal fibrotic hyperplasia of stroma known as desmoplasia; however, its characterization is unknown. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the prognostic factors according to the histological categorization of desmoplastic reactions in PC. METHODS: We retrospectively enrolled 167 patients who underwent curative resection for PC. The desmoplastic pattern was histologically classified as mature, intermediate, or immature. Clinicopathological features were evaluated, and disease-free and overall survival (OS) were analyzed in the three groups. Prognostic factors were assessed using univariate and multivariate analyses. RESULTS: In total, 19 mature, 87 intermediate, and 61 immature desmoplastic patterns were evaluated. Jaundice decompression, white blood cell count, and platelet/lymphocyte ratio were significantly different among the groups. The mature group had a better disease-free survival (DFS) prognosis than the other two groups; however, OS did not differ between the groups. Desmoplastic patterns showed significant differences between the three groups for DFS. CONCLUSIONS: Desmoplastic patterns are a prognostic factor of DFS for PC, with mature desmoplastic reactions associated with good prognosis. Thus, they may aid in individualized therapeutic approaches in patients with PC.

Tumors desmoplastic microenvironments are characterized by abundant stromal cells and extracellular matrix (ECM) deposition. Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs), as the most abundant of all stromal cells, play significant role in mediating microenvironments, which not only remodel ECM to establish unique pathological barriers to hinder drug delivery in desmoplastic tumors, but also talk with immune cells and cancer cells to promote immunosuppression and cancer stem cells-mediated drug resistance. Thus, CAFs mediated desmoplastic microenvironments will be emerging as promising strategy to treat desmoplastic tumors. However, due to the complexity of microenvironments and the heterogeneity of CAFs in such tumors, an effective deliver system should be fully considered when designing the strategy of targeting CAFs mediated microenvironments. Engineered exosomes own powerful intercellular communication, cargoes delivery, penetration and targeted property of desired sites, which endow them with powerful theranostic potential in desmoplastic tumors. Here, we illustrate the significance of CAFs in tumors desmoplastic microenvironments and the theranostic potential of engineered exosomes targeting CAFs mediated desmoplastic microenvironments in next generation personalized nano-drugs development.

PURPOSE: Desmoplastic fibroma (DF) is an uncommon intermediate bone tumor rarely involving the skull with unidentified pathogenesis. We report the first case of pediatric temporoparietal cranial desmoplastic fibroma (DF) with a CTNNB1 gene mutation and review the previous literature. CASE PRESENTATION: A 3-year-old boy had a firm, painless mass on the right temporoparietal region for 22 months. The cranial CT scan showed isolated osteolytic destruction in the outer plate and diploe of the right temporoparietal bone. Gross total resection of the lesion and cranioplasty were performed. After that, a growing epidural hematoma was observed so another operation was performed to remove the artificial titanium plate. Postoperative pathology indicated a DF diagnosis and molecular pathology suggested a missense mutation in exon 3 of the CTNNB1 gene (c.100G > A,p.Gly34Arg). CONCLUSION: Pediatric cranial DF is rare and easy to be misdiagnosed before operation. For cranial DF, lesion resection can be performed and perioperative management should be strengthened. Mutations in the CTNNB1 gene might be one of the molecular pathologic features of DF.

BACKGROUND: Desmoplastic fibroma is an extremely rare primary bone tumor. Its characteristic features include bone destruction accompanied by the formation of soft tissue masses. This condition predominantly affects individuals under the age of 30. Since its histology is similar to desmoid-type fibromatosis, an accurate diagnosis before operation is difficult. Desmoplastic fibroma is resistant to chemotherapy, and the efficacy of radiotherapy is uncertain. Surgical excision is preferred for treatment, but it entails high recurrence. Further, skeletal reconstruction post-surgery is challenging, especially in pediatric cases. CASE PRESENTATION: Nine years ago, a 14-year-old male patient presented with a 4-year history of progressive pain in his left wrist. Initially diagnosed as fibrous dysplasia by needle biopsy, the patient underwent tumor resection followed by free vascularized fibular proximal epiphyseal transfer for wrist reconstruction. However, a histological examination confirmed a diagnosis of desmoplastic fibroma. The patient achieved bone union and experienced a recurrence in the ipsilateral ulna 5 years later, accompanied by a wrist deformity. He underwent a second tumor resection and wrist arthrodesis in a single stage. The most recent annual follow-up was in September 2023; the patient had no recurrence and was satisfied with the surgery. CONCLUSIONS: Desmoplastic fibroma is difficult to diagnose and treat, and reconstruction surgery after tumor resection is challenging. Close follow-up by experienced surgeons may be beneficial for prognosis.

A 50-year-old male presented with neck and shoulder pain. Chest CT and 18F-FDG PET/CT revealed osteolytic bone destruction in the left first rib and thoracic vertebrae with increased FDG uptake. Rib biopsy pathology indicated desmoplastic small round cell tumor (DSRCT).18F-FDG PET/CT can accurately locate the distribution of DSRCT and further guide the location of needle biopsy to assist the DSRCT.

Growth pattern (GP), tumor budding (TB), poorly differentiated clusters (PDC), desmoplastic reaction pattern (DRP) and tumor-stroma ratio (TSR) are prognostic histomorphological parameters in colorectal cancer (CRC). Correlations between these parameters, their individual prognostic values, and their relationship with KRAS/NRAS/BRAF mutations have not been comprehensively examined. We aimed to investigate these associations, which have not been previously explored in this combination. 126 CRC cases were included. GP, TB, PDC, DRP and TSR were evaluated by two experienced pathologists. KRAS/NRAS/BRAF mutation profile were determined using qPCR. Demographic, clinicopathological and survival data were recorded. Interrelations were investigated by statistical analysis. Infiltrative GP was more frequent in high-score TB, PDC-G3, and stroma-high tumors (p < 0.05). High-score TB was more common in PDC-G3 and stroma-high tumors (p < 0.05). Immature DRP was more frequent in stroma-high tumors (p = 0.014). Among histomorphological parameters, a significant relationship was found only between infiltrative GP and the presence of KRAS mutation (p = 0.023). Moreover, GP was significantly associated with pT, lymphatic invasion, perineural invasion (p < 0.05). Effects on survival were assessed using Kaplan-Meier method and Cox proportional hazards model. TB and PDC were identified as independent predictors of overall survival. Higher TB score (p = 0.008) and higher PDC grade (p = 0.013) lead to worse survival. Interestingly, GP, DRP, TSR or KRAS/NRAS/BRAF mutations were not associated with overall survival. Our results highlight the prognostic significance of TB and PDC. We suggest incorporating TB and PDC into routine CRC reports. The association of KRAS mutation with infiltrative GP supports its role in the acquisition of invasive behavior.

The cancer invasion of the large intestine, a destructive process that begins within the mucous membrane, causes cancer cells to gradually erode specific layers of the intestinal wall. The normal tissues of the intestine are progressively replaced by a tumour mass, leading to the impairment of the large intestine's proper morphology and function. At the ultrastructural level, the disintegration of the extracellular matrix (ECM) by cancer cells triggers the activation of inflammatory cells (macrophages) and connective tissue cells (myofibroblasts) in this area. This accumulation and the functional interactions between these cells form the tumour microenvironment (TM). The constant modulation of cancer cells and cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) creates a specific milieu akin to non-healing wounds, which induces colon cancer cell proliferation and promotes their survival. This review focuses on the processes occurring at the "front of cancer invasion", with a particular focus on the role of the desmoplastic reaction in neoplasm development. It then correlates the findings from the microscopic observation of the cancer's ultrastructure with the potential of modern radiological imaging, such as computer tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), which visualizes the tumour, its boundaries, and the tissue reactions in the large intestine.

Desmoplastic fibroma (DF) is an uncommon bone tumor that originates from the mesenchymal tissue and despite being benign, exhibits aggressive behavior locally. The following report describes the case of a 7-year-old boy with a rapidly enlarging swelling on the right side of the mandible. After a thorough clinical examination, radiographic imaging, and histopathological analysis, the diagnosis of DF was confirmed. Treatment planning was formulated considering both the tumor's tendency for local recurrence and the patient's well-being. Due to the patient's young age, segmental resection was not deemed appropriate, and an aggressive curettage and enucleation of the lesion followed by the bone graft was performed instead. The patient was kept under close follow-up for the first month of post-surgery and later reviewed after 3, 6, 9, and 12 months, respectively. Good bone healing was observed on radiographs. The patient did not show any signs of recurrence based on clinical or radiographic assessments and did not exhibit any neurosensory deficits as well.

Desmoplastic reaction is a fibrosis reaction that is characterized by a large amount of dense extracellular matrix (ECM) and dense fibrous stroma. Fibrotic stroma around the tumor has several different components, including myofibroblasts, collagen, and other ECM molecules. This stromal reaction is a natural response to the tissue injury process, and fibrosis formation is a key factor in pancreatic cancer development. The fibrotic stroma of pancreatic cancer is associated with tumor progression, metastasis, and poor prognosis. Reportedly, multiple processes are involved in fibrosis, which is largely associated with the upregulation of various cytokines, chemokines, matrix metalloproteinases, and other growth factors that promote tumor growth and metastasis. Fibrosis is also associated with immunosuppressive cell recruitment, such as regulatory T cells (Tregs) with suppressing function to antitumor immunity. Further, dense fibrosis restricts the flow of nutrients and oxygen to the tumor cells, which can contribute to drug resistance. Furthermore, the dense collagen matrix can act as a physical barrier to block the entry of drugs into the tumor, thereby further contributing to drug resistance. Thus, understanding the mechanism of desmoplastic reaction and fibrosis in pancreatic cancer will open an avenue to innovative medicine and improve the prognosis of patients suffering from this disease.

BACKGROUND: Single-cell RNA-seq has emerged as an innovative technology used to study complex tissues and characterize cell types, states, and lineages at a single-cell level. Classification of bulk tumors by their individual cellular constituents has also created new opportunities to generate single-cell atlases for many organs, cancers, and developmental models. Despite the tremendous promise of this technology, recent evidence studying epithelial tissues and diverse carcinomas suggests the methods used for tissue processing, cell disaggregation, and preservation can significantly bias gene expression and alter the observed cell types. To determine whether sarcomas - tumors of mesenchymal origin - are subject to the same technical artifacts, we profiled patient-derived tumor explants (PDXs) propagated from three aggressive subtypes: osteosarcoma (OS), Ewing sarcoma (ES), desmoplastic small round cell tumor (DSRCT). Given the rarity of these sarcoma subtypes, we explored whether single-nuclei RNA-seq from more widely available archival frozen specimens could accurately be identified by gene expression signatures linked to tissue phenotype or pathognomonic fusion proteins. RESULTS: We systematically assessed dissociation methods across different sarcoma subtypes. We compared gene expression from single-cell and single-nucleus RNA-sequencing of 125,831 whole-cells and nuclei from ES, DSRCT, and OS PDXs. We detected warm dissociation artifacts in single-cell samples and gene length bias in single-nucleus samples. Classic sarcoma gene signatures were observed regardless of the dissociation method. In addition, we showed that dissociation method biases could be computationally corrected. CONCLUSIONS: We highlighted transcriptional biases, including warm dissociation and gene-length biases, introduced by the dissociation method for various sarcoma subtypes. This work is the first to characterize how the dissociation methods used for sc/snRNA-seq may affect the interpretation of the molecular features in sarcoma PDXs.

BACKGROUND: This study describes the clinical findings of a consecutive series of pediatric and adolescent patients with a diagnosis of intra-abdominal desmoplastic small round cell tumor (DSRCT) prospectively enrolled in European pediatric Soft tissue sarcoma Study Group (EpSSG) protocols: the BERNIE study, the EpSSG MTS 2008 study, and the EpSSG NRSTS 2005 study. METHODS: Patients aged less than 21 years with a diagnosis of DSRCT arising in the abdomen were included. All trials recommended a multimodal approach including intensive multidrug chemotherapy and loco-regional treatment with surgery and/or radiotherapy whenever possible. RESULTS: The analysis included 32 cases (median age 13.7 years, male:female ratio 1.5:1). Three patients had localized tumors, seven had regionally disseminated disease, and 22 extraperitoneal metastases. All but one patient received multidrug chemotherapy and 11 had maintenance chemotherapy. Loco-regional treatment consisted of surgery only in seven cases, surgery plus adjuvant radiotherapy in 10, and radiotherapy only in six. Among the 17 cases who had radiotherapy, six had irradiation of the primary site, 10 had whole abdominopelvic radiotherapy plus boost to macroscopic residual disease, and one had irradiation to lung metastases only. With a median follow-up of 76 months (range: 18-124 months), 5-year event-free and overall survivals were 19.7% and 21.0%, respectively. Event-free survival was significantly worse for patients who did not receive loco-regional treatment (p-value .007). CONCLUSIONS: The study confirmed that the outcome of patients with DSRCT remains dismal and did not improve over recent years despite an intensive multimodal treatment approach.

This paper provides imaging recommendations for pediatric abdominal tumors that arise outside of the solid viscera. These tumors are rare in children and have been categorized in two groups: abdominal wall and peritoneal tumors (desmoid tumor and desmoplastic small round cell tumor) and tumors that arise from the gastrointestinal tract (gastrointestinal stromal tumor and gastrointestinal neuroendocrine tumor). Authors offer consensus recommendations for imaging assessment of these tumors at diagnosis, during follow-up, and when off-therapy.

BACKGROUND: Melanocytic tumors driven by MAP2K1 in-frame deletions are among the most recently described class of melanocytic neoplasms. The reported range of diagnoses and associated genomic aberrations in these neoplasms is wide and includes melanomas, deep penetrating melanocytomas, and pigmented epithelioid melanocytoma. However, little is known about the characteristics of these tumors, especially in the absence of well-known second molecular "hits." Moreover, despite their frequent spitzoid cytomorphology, their potential categorization among the Spitz tumors is debatable. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We conducted a retrospective search through our molecular archives to identify sequenced melanocytic tumors with MAP2K1 in-frame deletions. We reviewed the clinical and histomorphological features of these tumors and compared them to similar neoplasms reported to date. In addition, we performed single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) array testing to identify structural chromosomal aberrations. RESULTS: Of 27 sequenced tumors, 6 (22%) showed a pathogenic MAP2K1 in-frame deletion (with or without insertion) and were included in this series. Five (83%) were females with lesions involving the upper limb. Histopathologically, all neoplasms were compounded with plaque-like or wedge-shaped silhouettes, spitzoid cytomorphology, and impaired cytologic maturation. All cases showed background actinic damage with sclerotic stroma replacing solar elastosis, variable pagetoid scatter, and occasional dermal mitotic figures (range 1-2/mm2 ). Five cases (83%) had a small component of nevic-looking melanocytes. Biologically, these tumors likely fall within the spectrum of unusual nevi. Five cases (83%) had a relatively high mutational burden and four (67%) showed an ultraviolet radiation signature. Four cases (67%) showed in-frame deletion involving the p.I103_K104del locus while two cases (33%) showed in-frame deletion involving the p.Q58_E62del locus. SNP array testing showed structural abnormalities ranging from 1 to 5 per case. Five of these cases showed a gain of chromosome 15 spanning the MAP2K1 gene locus. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: Melanocytic tumors with MAP2K1 in-frame deletion could represent another spectrum of melanocytic tumors with close genotypic-phenotypic correlation. They are largely characterized by a spectrum that encompasses desmoplastic Spitz nevus as shown in our series and Spitz and Clark nevus as shown by others. Evolutionary, they share many similarities with tumors with BRAF V600E mutations, suggesting they are better classified along the conventional pathway rather than the Spitz pathway despite the frequent spitzoid morphology.

RESUMEN

Neurotropic melanoma is a rare type of malignant melanoma with nerve invasion or neural differentiation. Neurocristic cutaneous hamartoma is a rare, benign tumor of the skin and superficial soft tissue that arises from aberrant migration of neural crest cells. We report a rare case of a 74-year-old man with a clinically diagnosed giant congenital nevus of the right mid-back, histopathologically confirmed to be a neurocristic cutaneous hamartoma, who developed neurotropic spindle cell melanoma within the lesion. The patient was treated with serial re-excisions until clear margins were achieved.
