BACKGROUND: The Assessment of Criteria for Specific Internet-use Disorders (ACSID-11) is a consistent and comprehensive instrument to assess symptoms of specific internet-use disorders including those related to gaming, shopping, pornography use disorder, social networks use and gambling considering criteria in the eleventh revision of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11). However, to date, there is little evidence supporting instruments assessing major types of specific internet use disorders in Thailand. The aim of this present study was to assess the psychometric properties of the ACSID-11 among Thai young adults. METHODS: A total of 612 participants were recruited. A confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) examined construct validity of the ACSID-11. Cronbach's α and McDonald's ω were used to assess reliability of the ACSID-11. Pearson correlations examined relationships between ACSID-11 domains and Internet Gaming Disorder Scale-Short Form (IGDS9-SF) scores. RESULTS: The CFA supported validity of the Thai version of the ACSID-11 and a four-factor structure. Specific domains of the Thai ACSID-11, particularly gaming, were positively and significantly correlated with IGDS9-SF scores. CONCLUSIONS: Data indicate that the Thai version of the ACSID-11 is a valid and reliable instrument to assess major types of specific internet use disorders. Additional studies are needed to further examine the validity and reliability of the Thai ACSID-11.

Background: Anemia is a severe nutritional issue affecting people worldwide, including in Indonesia. One of the government's initiatives to alleviate anemia afflicting adolescent Indonesian girls is iron and folic acid supplementation (IFAS). However, this program has shown to be ineffective, which may be due to poor compliance of IFAS. Aim: This study aimed to identify the association of social support (sources of information and reminders) with compliance of IFA supplement intake among adolescent girls in Sidoarjo, Indonesia. Methods: This research was an observational analytic study with the cross-sectional method in three schools in Sidoarjo, Indonesia. A total of 202 high school adolescent girls were randomly selected. Bivariate statistics with the Spearman rank test determined associations and the strength of associations at a significant threshold of p < 0.05. Results: IFA compliance was low (11.4%). However, there was a significant association between the number of sources of information (r = 0.175, p = 0.013) and the number of reminders (r = 0.158; p = 0.025) with compliance of high school adolescent girls to consume IFA supplements regularly in Sidoarjo, Indonesia. Meanwhile, age did not significantly affect compliance of regular IFA supplement consumption. Conclusions: The compliance level was positively related to the number of sources of information and the number of reminders for taking IFA supplements among high school adolescent girls. Involvement from social environments such as teachers, parents, and health workers as a source of information and reminders can help improve high school adolescent girls' compliance.

Context: Adolescence is a crucial phase in preventing and controlling anaemia. One of the efforts made by the Indonesian government to overcome adolescent girl's anaemia is the iron and folic acid (IFA) supplementation programme. This programme is one of the most effective interventions that various countries have used to overcome anaemia. The key to the success of the supplementation of IFA is the compliance of adolescent girls. Aims: This study investigates the compliance and its contributing factors of IFA supplementation and the role of social support and interpersonal trust as a source of information and reminder amongst adolescent girls in Sidoarjo, Indonesia. Methods: This research was a qualitative study using the in-depth interview to collect data. Thirteen adolescent girls from three high schools in Sidoarjo, Indonesia, were recruited using a snowball sampling technique. Results: Most of the girls did not comply with IFA supplementation. Contributing factors were the influence of peers, influence of teachers, parental influence, risk and benefit of taking IFA tablet and also failure to remember to take IFA tablet. The social environment that provided information and reminder came from teacher, parent, peer and also health worker. Interpersonal trust was needed to have positive perceived social support. Conclusions: Compliance with the consumption of IFA supplements requires the cooperation of various parties (teachers, parents, peers and health workers) and also interpersonal trust between adolescent girls to their social environment so the programme could be run optimally.

BACKGROUND: This study aimed to examine the psychometric properties of the Weight Self-Stigma Questionnaire (WSSQ) and Perceived Weight Stigma Scale (PWS) among Malaysian university students. METHODS: University students who were studying in a Malaysia university with a mean age of 24.0 years (n = 380; females 71.6%) were recruited through convenience sampling between 19 August and 30 September 2021. They completed a Google Form consisting of information on sociodemographic background, weight stigma, psychological distress and self-reported body weight and height. Psychometric testing was conducted using the classical test theory (including confirmatory factor analysis) and Rasch models to confirm the two-factor structure of WSSQ and the unidimensional structure of the PWS using the various fit indices. Concurrent validity of the total scores of WSSQ and PWS with psychological distress and body mass index (BMI) was also investigated. Internal consistency using Cronbach's alpha was conducted. RESULTS: The confirmatory factor analyses and Rasch analyses verified the two-factor structure for the WSSQ and the single-factor structure for the PWS. Both the WSSQ and PWS showed good internal consistency and good concurrent validity as demonstrated by their significant correlations with psychological distress and BMI. CONCLUSION: The WSSQ and PWS have strong validity and reliability, and they can both be used to assess weight stigma among Malaysian university students. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: V: Descriptive study.

ISSUE ADDRESSED: Adolescence is a transition period between childhood and adulthood during which an individual is more likely to engage in drug use. Peer education is one strategy suggested to discourage adolescents from engaging in negative lifestyle behaviours including drug use. This qualitative research was conducted to understand the perspectives of student peer educators to provide counselling to their peers around drug use. METHODS: Data were gathered at 10 senior high schools in five regions of Surabaya through semi-structured interviews (student peer educators: n = 20; teachers: n = 13) and focus group discussions (three FGDs with student peer educators: n = 25). The data were analysed through thematic analysis following procedures of data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. RESULTS: The peer educators showed readiness (actual or potential) to provide counselling based on the external factor (confidence of ongoing support) and internal factors (motivate healthy lifestyle choices, ready with an open ear, self-development and share knowledge and experience). CONCLUSIONS: The readiness to provide counselling emphasises the preparedness of the students to help their peers and appeared underpinned by their self development and personal experiences. A capacity building program to enable student peer educators to enhance their skills to motivate healthy lifestyle choices would be of benefit. SO WHAT?: The confidence in ongoing support factor recognises the essential role of stakeholders to visibly advocate for the reactivation of the peer educator program for high school students as a clear sign of support.

One of the five Ottawa Charter's means of action is the concept of "healthy public policy," which is an approach to health promotion that is integrated with public policy. This concept can be used as an approach/method in solving health problems at the broader policy level and involving all sectors comprehensively, not just health promotion at the community level and the partial health sector, so that public health problems can be resolved properly. We conducted a systematic review of health promotion policies or regulations using CCAT theory. The purpose of this study is to find the state of the art of research related to stakeholder synergy in online game addiction prevention policies in adolescents. References and literature for this systematic review were collected from the Proquest, ScienceDirect, Pubmed, and Google Scholar databases. The search uses the boolean phrases "OR" and "AND." Keywords: policy or regulation, health promotion, and community coalition action theory. The results of the systematic review conducted by the researchers showed that of the twenty selected articles, three articles used the coalition/partnership dimension from the CCAT theory, four articles used the stakeholder dimension, two articles used the collaboration dimension, five articles discussed school health policies, policies related to gaming disorders. One article on the analysis of the juvenile contraceptive law, one article on the prevention of mental health disorders, one article on health promotion interventions, and two articles on risk factors and self-regulation focus on online gaming addiction in adolescents. This study concludes that in the future, further research is needed regarding health promotion policies to prevent online game addiction in adolescents to develop specific policy recommendations related to preventing online game addiction in adolescents.

Background: Iron deficiency anemia in children or women in pregnancy, is a public health problem in some countries. The World Health Organization (WHO) has called on all countries to achieve a 5% reduction in anemia in women of childbearing age, including adolescent girls, by 2025. One of the programs is iron supplementation. The success depends on the adherence of adolescent girls to consume iron tablets. This systematic review aimed to find the level of compliance to iron supplementation consumption among adolescent girls and explore barriers and facilitator factors to such adherence. Methods: This article was a systematic review and conducted a multi-database search. The articles passed the PRISMA flow diagram process. The inclusion and exclusion rules decided the qualification of studies included. Of 1066 articles, we obtained 20 studies for the systematic review. Result: The lowest compliance found were 26.2% and 26.3%, and was high (>80%) in intervention studies involving supervision and monitoring and peer educator. All articles' barrier and facilitator factors were classified into four categories; personal, social, environmental, and regimen. Conclusion: Efforts to improve adolescent compliance to take iron tablets should consider all of these factors.

OBJECTIVE: Social media addiction and internet gaming disorder may cause mental health problems among a minority of university students. The Bergen Social Media Addiction Scale (BSMAS) and the 9-item Internet Gaming Disorder Scale-Short Form (IGDS9-SF) are commonly used worldwide. However, they have not been translated or validated into Indonesian. The present study aimed to translate and validate the BSMAS and IGDS9-SF in an Indonesian context among young adults. METHODS: A multi-center, web-based cross-sectional study was conducted among 458 university students (74% female; mean age 22.5 years) in Indonesia from June to December 2021. The BSMAS and IGDS9-SF were translated into Indonesian. Internal consistency (using Cronbach's α and McDonald's ω) and factor structure (using confirmatory factor analysis) of the two instruments were examined. Concurrent validity of BSMAS and IGDS9-SF was examined using their correlations with two external concepts: nomophobia and psychological distress. RESULTS: Internal consistency of the Indonesian BSMAS and IGDS9-SF were both acceptable (Cronbach's α=0.80 and 0.90; McDonald's ω=0.86 and 0.92). Both instruments were unidimensional with good factor loadings (0.54-0.78 for BSMAS; 0.63-0.79 for IGDS9-SF). Moreover, BSMAS and IGDS9-SF had stronger associations with nomophobia (r=0.58 and 0.12; p<0.001) than with psychological distress (r=0.43 and 0.15; p<0.001). CONCLUSION: The Indonesian versions of the BSMAS and IGDS9-SF had good psychometric properties in terms of linguistic validity, unidimensionality, and reliability. The findings indicate the tools are appropriate for assessing the risk of social media addiction and internet gaming disorder among university students in Indonesia.

Informed consent is a reflection of patients' autonomy in health decision-making. The main responsibility lies with the doctor. In practice, the nurses' contributions matter as well. This paper presents a case study that explored physicians' perceptions of the existing informed consent process, their suggestions for improvement and their views on the nurses' roles in this process. A two-phase approach was conducted. First, six physicians with different expertise were interviewed. Second, after attending presentations about informed consent and physician-patient relationship principles, 32 physicians were asked to complete an open-ended questionnaire. Data were analyzed by two independent coders and emerging themes were compared. The results of the questionnaires and the interviews were triangulated. Of 32 physicians attending the presentations, 24 (75%) completed the questionnaire. The results indicate that physicians perceive patients, physicians and the hospital as main factors influencing the process of informed consent. Physicians' misinterpretation of informed consent principles, (mis)perceptions regarding patients and their family, and deficient hospital policy and support challenge the informed consent process. Physicians value nurses' roles, provided nurses have sufficient clinical knowledge, sound comprehension of informed consent principles and effective communication skills.

This research investigated the overall and domain-specific physical activity (PA) of university students in the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. A cross-sectional study was applied to socioeconomic (SE) and PA online data collected from 15,366 students across 17 universities in seven Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries. Statistical analyses using logistic regressions established SE-PA relationships. Over half (60.3%) of ASEAN university students met age-span specific PA guidelines. Students participated in recreational PA the most, followed by study-related activities and 44.1% of students engaged in >8 hrs/day of sedentary time (ST). Compared to students with a normal body mass index (BMI), students who were underweight (UW), overweight (OW), and obese (OB) respectively, had a 14% (UW odds ratio (OR) = 1.14, p = 0.005), 25% (OW OR = 1.25, p < 0.001), and 24% (OB OR = 1.24, p = 0.005) greater probability of meeting PA guidelines. Those who engaged in active transport and belonged to a sports club (SC) had 42% (SC OR = 0.58, p < 0.001, for both) less probability of meeting the PA guidelines, compared with those who travelled inactively and did not belong to a sports club, respectively. Students who participated in 4-6 sport or exercise activities had ten times more likelihood of meeting PA guidelines (OR = 10.15, p < 0.001), compared with those who did not play any sport or do any exercise. Students who spent >8 hrs/day of ST had 32% (ST OR = 0.68, p < 0.001) less probability of meeting PA guidelines, compared with those who spent <3 hrs of ST. These data showed that over half of ASEAN university students achieved PA guidelines and were highly sedentary during the COVID-19 pandemic. Recreational and study-related activities were important for students to maintain sufficient PA and should be actively promoted within the restrictions imposed during periods of the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns.

Background/Objective: Smartphone addiction, smartphone dependence, and compulsive smartphone use all describe similar phenomena that can cause problems in everyday daily life in many countries worldwide. Most scholars agree that it is the applications on smartphones that individuals have problems with rather than the smartphone itself. For this reason, smartphone application-based addiction is an issue of concern and one instrument has been specifically developed to assess this risk, namely, the Smartphone Application-Based Addiction Scale (SABAS). Although the SABAS has been translated into a number of languages, it has not been translated or validated into Indonesian. Methods: The SABAS was translated into Bahasa Indonesian utilizing a cross-cultural method to ensure its linguistic validity. The linguistic validity of the Indonesian SABAS was ensured using international standard translation guidelines. Moreover, reliability and validity testing of the translated Indonesian SABAS were carried out using Cronbach's α, McDonald's ω, confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and correlations with psychometric scales assessing psychological distress and nomophobia. Results: Using a sample of 458 participants (mean age = 22.46 years), reliability tests showed that the Indonesian SABAS was acceptable (Cronbach α = 0.74; McDonald's ω = 0.79). Construct validity of the Indonesian SABAS was supported by satisfactory CFA fit indices; concurrent validity supported by good correlations with psychological distress (r = 0.50) and nomophobia (r = 0.61). Conclusions: The Indonesian version of SABAS is valid and reliable to be used for assessing the risk of smartphone application-based addiction in college students.

The prevalence of epidemiological health-risk behaviors and mental well-being in the COVID-19 pandemic, stratified by sociodemographic factors in Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) university students, were examined in the research. Data were collected in March-June 2021 via an online survey from 15,366 university students from 17 universities in seven ASEAN countries. Analyzed data comprised results on physical activity, health-related behaviors, mental well-being, and sociodemographic information. A large proportion of university students consumed sugar-sweetened beverages (82.0%; 95%CI: 81.4, 82.6) and snacks/fast food daily (65.2%; 95%CI: 64.4, 66.0). About half (52.2%; 95%CI: 51.4, 53.0) consumed less than the recommended daily amounts of fruit/vegetable and had high salt intake (54%; 95%CI: 53.3, 54.8). Physical inactivity was estimated at 39.7% (95%CI: 38.9, 40.5). A minority (16.7%; 95%CI: 16.1, 17.3) had low mental well-being, smoked (8.9%; 95%CI: 8.4, 9.3), and drank alcohol (13.4%; 95%CI: 12.8, 13.9). Country and body mass index had a significant correlation with many health-risk behaviors and mental well-being. The research provided important baseline data for guidance and for the monitoring of health outcomes among ASEAN university students and concludes that healthy diet, physical activity, and mental well-being should be key priority health areas for promotion among university students.

AIM: Various innovations of oral health education media were used to bring an impact on oral health behavior and status among visually impaired children. This paper was aimed to systematically investigate which innovation brings the best impact of change. METHODS: A systematic searching strategy in Scopus, PubMed, ProQuest, ScienceDirect, EBSCO, SAGE, and Cochrane Library database was applied in this study, then followed Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guideline. Studies from the last 10 years that investigate the innovation of oral health education media for visually impaired children and its impact on change were included. RESULTS: Of 653 studies identified, 10 were included in the data synthesis. Audio, Braille, audio-tactile performance, verbal, tactile, or combinations were found to be utilized as the alternative media innovation of oral health education for visually impaired children. The combination of two or more media brings the best impacts of oral health behavior and oral health status among them. CONCLUSIONS: The combination of oral health education media may involve various senses of learning. Due to its impact on the improvement of oral health behavior and status among visually impaired children, this innovation should be chosen.

BACKGROUND: Student groups are prone to drug abuse. The prevalence of drugs in the past year among high school students in Surabaya, Indonesia occupies the highest provincial capital (9.4%). The purpose of this study analyzed the relationship between knowledge about drugs, attitudes about peer education, gender, class, and students' intention to participate in peer education programs in HEY (Health Educator for Youth) activities. DESIGN AND METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted with student participants (12-18 years) in six high schools in Surabaya, Indonesia (n=167). This study used an online survey to assess knowledge of drugs and students' attitudes about HEY peer education activities. RESULTS: More than half of the students have insufficient knowledge about drugs and have negative attitudes about peer education in HEY activities. This study also showed that students' intention to participate in peer education was not influenced by the level of knowledge, student attitudes, and gender. The results of statistical tests showed that there was a relationship between class and student participation in peer education activities. This showed that the student's factor regarding participation in peer education was a class category where the lower class is more motivated to participate. CONCLUSION: Most students have less knowledge about drugs and a negative attitude about peer education. However, the intention to participate in peer education activities is more thus it is necessary to improve the quality of peer educators through activities that are performed regularly by various relevant stakeholders.

BACKGROUND: Adolescents are a vulnerable group who have great curiosity and need access to various adolescent health information. Therefore, the government has implemented a strategy through the implementation of Youth Care Health Services (YCHS). However, some of the stakeholders and youth have limited access to YCHS especially the ones delivered in schools setting. The purpose of this study was to investigate the implementation of adolescent health programs in schools especially public schools and religion-based schools. DESIGN AND METHODS: This study was an analytic observational quantitative study by using a cross-sectional design. This study was conducted in public schools and religion-based schools in North Surabaya Indonesia. The sample in this study consisted of 100 students through a simple random sampling technique. RESULTS: There was a difference in the level of knowledge of adolescent reproductive health between public schools and religion-based schools (p=0.047). Student's attitudes (p=0.000) and environmental influences (p=0,000) both related with reproductive health contents. However, there was no difference in adolescent's attitudes about adolescent reproductive health programs (p=0.190) and adolescent's exposure to adolescent reproductive health policies (p=0.196). CONCLUSION: The implementation of adolescent health programs in two types of schools (public and religion-based) were different. Adolescents should have the same right to obtain knowledge about adolescent health as the prelude for forming a positive attitude. Therefore, stakeholders need to conduct regular monitoring and evaluation on the implementation of standardized adolescent health programs in all types of schools.
