ABSTRACT

Objective:To observe the effect of genetic inactivation of adenosine A 2A receptor on apoptosis in the prefrontal cortex and on the expression of phosphorylated p38 mitogen-active protein kinase (p38MAPK) in mice with chronic hypoxic hypercapnia. Methods:Sixteen male wild-type mice and 16 male mice in which the adenosine A 2A receptor gene had been knocked out were randomly divided into a 4 weeks group (including 4HH+ /+ and 4HH-/- subgroups) and a normal control group (including NC+ /+ and NC-/- subgroups). The 4HH+ /+ and 4HH-/- group mice were exposed to an atmosphere containing 9-11% O 2 and 5-6% CO 2 8 hours a day, 6 days a week for 4 weeks. The apoptosis index (AI) in their prefrontal cortices was then evaluated using terminal-deoxynucleoitide transferase mediated nick end labelling (TUNEL) staining. The expression of p38MAPK protein in the prefrontal cortices was measured using western blotting. Results:The average AI had increased significantly in the 4HH+ /+ and 4HH-/- groups compared with the controls, with significantly more apoptotic cells in the 4HH+ /+ group than in the 4HH-/- group. In the 4HH+ /+ and 4HH-/- groups the average expression of p38 protein in the prefrontal cortex was significantly higher than among their controls. Moreover, the average expression of p-p38MAPK protein in the prefrontal cortex of the 4HH-/- group was significantly lower than in the 4HH+ /+ group.Conclusion:Adenosine A 2A receptor knockout inhibits apoptosis in the prefrontal cortex and down-regulates the p38MAPK activation of mice after exposure to chronic hypoxic hypercapnia.

ABSTRACT

The hospital extranet business integration platform was the integrated service management system of hospital external business. According to the actual situation in Nanjing General Hospital of Nanjing Military Command,PLA, the article analyzed the difficult problems of developing extranet service platform and put forward the design model and technology architecture of the extranet business platform completely. Furthermore, the hospital extranet business integration platform was developed and put into practice. The practical application showed that the unified management of multi-entry, multi-channel, multi-mode and multi-system extranet business were realized by using this extranet integration platform in the hospital, and the efficiency of hospital service management was improved effectively.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Clinical ligation of traditional brackets by stainless steel ligature wires has greater randomness among doctors, and previous studies have mainly concerned on brackets and wires. There are less studies on the differential frictional force due to tight or loose ligation, and moreover, how to define tight ligation or loose ligation is rarely reported. OBJECTIVE: To compare the frictional force of different archwires in multiple brackets with various ligations. METHODS: A plaster model with moderate crowded malocclusion was randomly selected, and copied by 3D digital scanning technologies and Objet30 OrthoDesk3D printing technologies. Then, the models were bonded with Damon Clear brackets, Damon 3MX brackets, 3M traditional MBT brackets and Habit monocrystal brackets. Frictional forces of different brackets on models combined with two types of low frictional NiTi archwires which were 0.30 mm (0.012 inch) and 0.36 mm (0.014 inch) were measured by microcomputer servo dynamometer. Traditional brackets were ligatured by tight ligation and loose ligation, respectively. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: (1) When low-friction NiTi archwires of 0.30 mm were used, significant differences in the frictional force were found between different brackets with various ligations except for Damon Clear bracket versus 3M bracket with loose ligation as well as Damon Clear bracket versus Damon 3MX bracket (P < 0.05). (2) When low-friction NiTi archwires of 0.36 mm were used, similarity in the frictional force was found between 3M bracket with loose ligation, Damon Clear bracket and Damon 3MX bracket, while there were no significant differences between 3M bracket with loose ligation and Damon 3MX, between 3M bracket with tight ligation and Habit bracket with loose ligation, as well as between Damon Clear bracket and 3M bracket with loose ligation (P > 0.05). Comparing two kinds of archwires, the friction force showed no statistical difference between Damon Clear bracket and 3M bracket with loose and tight ligation (P > 0.05), but a statistical difference was found between Damon 3MX bracket and Habit bracket (P < 0.001), whatever two conventional brackets with tight ligation or loose ligation. To conclude, conventional MBT bracket with loose ligation can reduce frictional force as similar as self-ligating bracket in the alignment phase, and the reduction in the friction force is impacted by archwire size and bracket material.

ABSTRACT

Objective To conduct isolation identification of hydrangenol and establish a method for content determination of hydrangenol in the leaves of Hedyotis hedyotidea (DC) Merr; To provide references for further development and research of Hedyotis hedyotidea;To compare the contents of hydrangenol in the leaves of Hedyotis hedyotidea of different production areas and different batches. Methods Hydrangenol showed a good linear relationship within the range of 0.412–10.300 μg (r=1.000 0), with the average recovery of 99.09% (RSD=0.53%). Good precision and repeatability were achieved with the RSDs smaller than 1.0%. The content range was 0.03%–0.38% for hydrangenol in the leaves of Hedyotis hedyotidea of different production areas and different batches, and the highest contents appeared in those from Guangxi. Conclusion The method is simple, accurate, specific, reproducible and can be used for the content determination of hydrangenol in the leaves of Hedyotis hedyotidea; the contents of hydrangenol in the leaves of Hedyotis hedyotidea of different production areas and different batches are different, and contents in samples from Guangxi and Guangdong are higher.

ABSTRACT

The chemical consituents from the stems and leaves of Psychotria serpens were separated and purified by column chromatographies with silica gel, ODS, Sephadex LH-20 and PR-HPLC. The structures of the isolated compounds were identified on the basis of physicochemical properties and spectroscopic analyses, as well as comparisons with the data reported in literature. 18 compounds were isolated from the 90% ethanol extract of the stems and leaves of P. serpens, which were identified as chrysin(1), acacetin(2), genkwanin(3), chrysoeriol(4), rhamnocitrin(5), isorhamnetin(6), tricin(7), jaceosidin(8), dillenetin(9), kumatakenin(10), ayanin(11), isosakuranetin(12), eriodictyol(13), homoeriodictyol(14), taxifolin(15), pomonic acid(16), fupenzic acid(17) and euscaphic acid(18). All compounds were isolated from the genus Psychotria for the first time.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the effect of topical olive oil, vaseline cream and menthol ointment on skin barrier function of patients with senile xerosis. Methods Totally 32 participants with senile xerosis were enrolled in this randomized double-blind self-controlled study for 8 weeks. Four black square spaces were marked on bilateral forearms of each volunteer, and three were treated with olive oil, vaseline cream and menthol ointment, respectively, once a day for 8 weeks, and the last one was taken as control. Skin barrier function was evaluated at 2, 4, and 8 weeks after experiment by measuring the water content of the stratum corneum, transepidermal water loss (TKWL), and skin pH value. Results Compared with the control group, the water contents of stratum corneum in the olive oil, vaseline cream and menthol ointment groups were significantly increased (P<0.05), and the TEWL value and skin pH value were significantly decreased (P<0.05) at 8 weeks. There were no significant difference in the water content of stratum corneum, TEWL value, or pH value between 3 experiment groups. Conclusion Topical olive oil can improve the skin barrier function of patients with senile xerosis, and vaseline cream and menthol ointment also can repair the skin barrier function.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To study therapeutic effects of hydrochlorothiazide combined valsartan on aged patients with essential hypertension (EH),and its influence on cardiac function,serum levels of retinol-binding protein 4 (RBP4) and visceral adipose tissue-derived serine protease inhibitor (Vaspin).Methods:A total of 148 aged EH patients treated in our hospital from Dec 2014 to Dec 2015 were selected.According to random number table,patients were randomly and equally divided into valsartan group and combined treatment group (received hydrochlorothiazide therapy based on valsartan group).Blood pressure,left ventricular mass (LVM),left ventricular mass index (LV-MI),serum RBP4 and Vaspin levels before and after treatment were compared between two groups.Results:Com-pared with valsartan group after six-month treatment,there were significant reductions in levels of systolic blood pressure[(154.35±11.64)mmHg vs.(138.37±12.85)mmHg],diastolic blood pressure[(98.68±9.97)mmHg vs. (80.35±8.57)mmHg],LVM[(204.75 ± 12.35 )g vs.(198.77 ± 12.64)g],LVMI [(128.68 ± 6.54)g/m2 vs. (118.35±5.74)g/m2 ]and serum RBP4 level [(26.56±5.67)g/ml vs.(24.75±5.36)g/ml],and significant rise in serum Vaspin level [(10.23 ± 1.10)pg/ml vs.(12.43 ± 1.12)pg/ml]in combined treatment group,P < 0.01 all. Compared with valsartan group,there was significant rise in total effective rate (64.8% vs.82.4%,P =0.015)in combined treatment group.Conclusion:Hydrochlorothiazide combined valsartan can significantly reduce blood pres-sure and serum RBP4 level,significantly increase Vaspin level in aged EH patients,which is worth extending.

ABSTRACT

Objective To compare the efficacy and comfort of oral polyethylene glycol at different time for painless colonoscopy preparation. Methods According to time of oral compound polyethylene glycol electrolyte powder, 173 painless colonoscopy patients were divided into group A, group B and group C. Patients in group A took 4 boxes of compound polyethylene glycol electrolyte powder for colonic preparation at 22:00 on day 1 before the check, the time of painless colonoscopy is 8:30 ~ 10:30. Group B patients took 1 box of compound polyethylene glycol electrolyte powder for colonic preparation at 20:00 on day 1 before the check and took 3 boxes at 5:00 am on check day, the time of painless colonoscopy is 10:30 ~ 12:30. Group C patients took 1 box of compound polyethylene glycol electrolyte powder for colonic preparation at 20:00 on day 1 before the check and took 3 boxes at 7:00 am on check day, the time of painless colonoscopy is 13:30 ~ 15:30. At last, we compare the colon cleanliness and comfort of patients among the three groups. Results There was no significant difference in instetinal cleanliness among the 3 groups (P > 0.05), but there was greatly significant difference in subjective tolerance among 3 groups (P < 0.05). Conclusion The 3 methods of having boxes of compound polyethylene glycol electrolyte power all have the satisfying effect for colonic preparation, but fractionated dose polyethylene glycol electrolyte power provides a better tolerance for bowel preparation of painless colonscopy.

ABSTRACT

The hollow mesoporous silica nanoparticles (HMSNs) were prepared by hard template method, with a size of 300 nm and shell thickness of 25 nm. Borneol was loaded with solvent impregnation method in order to solve the stability problem of borneol in pharmaceutics, and the BET, TEM and FT-IR were used to characterize the HMSNs and the borneol-HMSNs drug delivery system. The optimal drug loading time, maximum drug loading capacity and the volatility of borneol were investigated. The results showed that HMSNs which were prepared at room temperature and neutral conditions had good sphericity, achieved high drug loading of borneol in a short time, and the drug loading was up to 74.04% within 6 hours; meanwhile, volatility of borneol in the system was greatly improved. This novel drug delivery system provides a new idea for wide application of borneol in the traditional Chinese medicine.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the static postural balance of patients with lumbar disc herniation (LDH). Methods From January to September, 2015, thirty patients with LDH were as observation group, and thirty healthy adult people were as control group. Their bal-ance function were detected and compared. Results The sway length, sway area and anteroposterior sway velocity were higher in the obser-vation group than in the control group (t>2.262, P2.767, P2.326, P<0.05). Conclusion Impairment of the proprioception and lower back pain affected the postural control of patients with LDH, who relied more on vision input to maintain postural stability.

ABSTRACT

1,3,5-Trimethylbenzene (1,3,5-TMB) was used as the pore-enlarging modifier to expand the pore size of MCM-41 (mobil company of matter) mesoporous silica nanoparticles. The solvent impregnation method was adopted to assemble non-water-soluble β-carotene into the pore channel of MCM-41. The MCM-41 and drug assemblies were characterized by TEM, FT-IR, elemental analysis and N2 adsorption-desorption. The results showed that MCM-41 has good sphericity and regular pore structure. The research also investigated the optimal loading time, the drug loading and the vitro stability of the β-carotene. As a drug carrier, the modified MCM-41 showing a shorter drug loading time, the drug loading as high as 85.58% and the stability of β-carotene in drug assemblies has improved. The study of this new formulation provides a new way for β-carotene application.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To evaluate the effect of Jinqijiangtang Tablet prepared by new technology on blood glucose and lipids in rats with type 2 diabetes. Methods: Type 2 diabetic rat model was established by high fat diet combined with STZ injection. Metformin was used for a positive drug in the present study. Fasting blood glucose, glycosylated serum protein, serum insulin, and insulin resistance index were determined to evaluate the hypoglycemic effect of Jinqijiangtang Tablet prepared by new technology. And serum triglyceride, cholesterol, high density and low density lipoprotein were observed to evaluate the lipid-lowering effect of Jinqijiangtang Tablet prepared by new technology. Results: Jinqijiangtang Tablet prepared by new technology and metformin both could reduce the fasting blood glucose and glycosylated serum protein, and improve glucose tolerance and insulin resistance. Jinqijiangtang Tablet could reduce the levels of cholesterol and HDL.Conclusion: Jinqijiangtang Tablet prepared by new technology can effectively improve insulin resistance, and it has a lipid-lowering effect.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the correlation between asymmetric dimethylarginine (AD-MA) and endothelial dysfunction in patients with uremia.Methods Uremic patients who did not receive hemodialysis were defined as A group (n =40) ; uremic patients who had received hemodialysis were divided into B group (n =45) ;healthy people were defined as C group (n =20) ;and chronic kidney disease (stage 2 ~ 4) patients were defined as D group (n =20).The diameter of intima-media thickness,and endothelium-dependent or independent dilation (EDD or EID) of radial artery in right forearm were detected with diasonography.The levels of ADMA were determined by high-performance liquid chromatography.Results Compared to C group,the levels of ADMA in A,B and D groups were significantly increased [C:(0.78 ±0.19) μmol/L,A:(1.51 ±0.16) μ mol/L,B:(1.13 ±0.14) μmol/L,D:(0.92 ±0.11) μmol/L; P <0.05].Compared to A group,the levels of ADMA were significantly decreased in B group (P <0.05).EDD and EID were decreased significantly in A,B and D groups compared to C group [EDD:C:(13.52±1.73)% vs A:(7.32 ±0.54)%,B:(9.02 ±0.86)%,D:(10.13 ±1.25)%,P <0.05;EID:C:(14.45±1.85)% vsA:(10.37 ±1.51)%,B:(9.54±1.39)%,D:(11.17±1.56)%,P <0.05].EDD in B group was significantly lower than A group (P <0.05).In group A,a negative correlation was found between EDD and the level of ADMA (r =-0.81,P =0.020).Conclusions ADMA level was significantly increased in uremic patients.A close correlation existed between ADMA and endothelial dysfunction of radial artery.

Objective To investigate the role of surfactant protein (SP)-A and SP-D in urinary tract infection mouse model,and evaluate the effects of SP-A and SP-D absence on urinary tract infection.Methods SP-A and SP-D double knockout (SP-A/D KO) mice were made.SP-A/D KO and wild-type (WT) C57BL/6 female mice were used for this study.The expression of SP-A and SP-D in kidney was detected by immunohistochemistry (IHC).The levels of p-p38 and p38 protein in kidneys were measured by Western blotting.Uropathogenic Escherichia coli or buffer was delivered into the bladder of female mice.At 24 and 48 h after inoculation,CFU of Escherichia coli in the kidney and urine of the treated and control mice were measured.Histological,cellular and molecular analysis were performed by several methods of H/E staining,IHC and Western blotting.The effects of SP-A and SP-D on bacterial growth were studied in vitro.Results SP-A and SP-D in kidney were located in the proximal tubules and collecting tubules.Compared with WT mice,infected SP-A/D KO mice with UPEC had higher CFU in kidneys and urine at 24 h and 48 h,increased inflammatory cells infiltration in kidneys (P<0.05).Compared with WT mice,SP-A/D KO mice had higher p38 MAPK phosphorylation levels in kidneys (P < 0.05).Growth of Escherichia coli was greatly inhibited by both SP-A and SP-D (P<0.05).Conclusions Both SP-A and SP-D are expressed in kidney.SP-A and SP-D can attenuate UTI induced by UPEC which may be through inhibiting bacterial growth and modulating renal inflammation.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the correlation between asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA) and endothelial dysfunction in patients with type 2 diabetic nephropathy.Methods The 81 patients with type 2 diabetic nephropathy were selected.According to the urinary albumin excretion rate (UAER),the patients were divided into micro-albuminuria group (DN1 group,UAER 21-199 mg/24 h,38 cases) and macro-albuminuria group (DN2 group,UAER ≥ 200 mg/24 h,43 cases).The 20 healthy people were defined as control group.Intimal-media thickness and endothelial dysfunction of the radial artery of right forearm were detected by color Doppler ultrasound.The serum level of ADMA was determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.Results There was no significant difference in radial artery inner diameter intimal-media thickness among the 3 groups (P > 0.05).The Endothelial dependent diastolic function (EDD) and endothelial independent diastolic function (EID) in DN1 group and DN2 group were significantly lower than those in control group [(10.45 ± 2.58)% and (7.56 ± 2.17)% vs.(15.72 ± 3.05)%,(15.42 ± 2.71)% and (15.37 ± 2.92)% vs.(19.31 ± 3.76)%,P < 0.05],and the EDD in DN2 group was significantly lower than that in DN1 group (P< 0.05).The serum ADMA in DN1 group and DN2 group was significantly higher than that in control group [(0.63 ± 0.08) and (0.92 ± 0.12) μ mol/L vs.(0.39 ± 0.05)μmol/L,P <0.05],and in DN2 group it was significantly higher than that in DN1 group (P <0.05).In patients with type 2 diabetic nephropathy,the serum ADMA and EDD had negative correlation (r =-0.81,P =0.020),but the serum ADMA and C reactive protein had positive correlation (r =0.75,P =0.034).Conclusions The serum level of ADMA is significantly increased in patients with type 2 diabetic nephropathy.There is a close correlation between ADMA and endothelial dysfunction of artery.

ABSTRACT

We reviewed the clinical data of 24 patients with postpartum hemorrhage undergoing transcatheter arterial embolism from March 2009 to September 2011.Twenty out of 24 patients underwent uterine artery embolism,while other 4 underwent internal iliac artery embolism.The hemorrhage reduced markedly 2 to 9 min after arterial embolism in all patients,except 2 who underwent secondary embolism due to the intermittent postoperative hemorrhage. The postoperative complications included low fever and discomfort in lower abdomen.Nineteen patients were followed up for a mean period of ( 17.3 ± 1.1 ) months,no recurrent hemorrhage was observed after discharge.The normal menstrual cycle recovered 4 to 6 months after operation.Three patients underwent pregnancy successfully after discharge.The results indicate that transcatheter arterial embolism is safe and effective in the treatment of postpartum hemorrhage and it should be recommended as a feasible choice in clinical practice.

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTostudy the value of color Doppler sonography in diagnosisof rhabdomyolysis.Methods The color Doppler sonography images of twenty-one patients with diagnosed rhabdomyolysis were retrospective analyzed.The pathological changes of the muscle were observed.Results The appearance of ultrasound was cloundness and rough-cast glass change in the diseased area of rhabdomyolysis.The diseased region can be found by ultrasound,and location and scope can be displayed clearly.There were major differences in the location of rhabdomyolysis because of etiological factor.The muscle volume and tension of rhabdomyolysis were increased for trauma,the individual patients will lead to the osteofascial compartment syndrome.There was no blood flow signal or little blood flow signal in the diseased area of rhabdomyolysis.Conclusions The color Doppler sonography is an efficient method for diagnosis of rhabdomyolysis.
