ABSTRACT

This study explored the ideas and methods of acupuncture for Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) with the core principle of “to treat flaccidity, select the yangming (阳明) channel only”. The main pathological mechanism of GBS is deficiency of qi and blood in the yangming channel, malnutrition of all sinews, diminished spleen and stomach function leading to the production of pathogenic damp-heat qi, which obstructs the meridians, and gradually affects the liver and kidneys, consuming essence and damaging blood. Concurrently, dysfunction of the dumai (督脉) pivotal mechanism and lack of moisture in sinews and vessels result in symptoms such as skin numbness, paralysis, and muscle wastage. In clinical diagnosis and treatment, a combination of syndrome and channel differentiation is taken. Treatment primarily focuses on acupoints of yangming channel, aiming to supplement qi and blood, and acupoints of du mai are combined to open the vessel and fill the marrow. Specific acupoints are selected based on syndrome differentiation, providing comprehensive regulation to promote harmonization of qi and blood, relieve meridians, and the smooth generation and circulation of whole body fluids. This, in turn, enhances the strength of muscles and bones, and fosters a robust and freely moving body.

This study deeply explores the cause of high incidence of PHE-associated psychological crisis in college students, and advocates the teaching management staffs to take full advantage of the present information technology on college students' psychological assessment, daily psychological education, and related information collection, with the current college information construction platforms. The aim is to build an early warning and intervention mechanism that is susceptible to college students' psychological crisis, and to better protect the mental health of college students.

ABSTRACT

Moringa oleifera leaves are known for their "Virechana"(purgative) effect in Ayurvedic medicine in India. This study compared the purgative effects and mechanisms of M. oleifera leaves with the reference Rhei Radix et Rhizoma to establish a foundation for the further application of M. oleifera leaves in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM). Using network pharmacology and molecular docking methods, this study identified the material basis, common targets, and signaling pathways through which Rhei Radix et Rhizoma and M. oleifera leaves exerted their purgative pharmacological effects. A low-fiber diet-induced constipation mouse model was established to measure fecal parameters and small intestinal propulsion rate, and histological changes in the colon were observed using HE staining. Relative expression levels of relevant genes and target proteins were assessed using RT-qPCR and immunohistochemistry, respectively. The results showed that mapping the targets of Rhei Radix et Rhizoma and M. oleifera leaves onto the biological process network of constipation revealed close proximity, indicating that they may exert their therapeutic effects on constipation through similar biological processes. Molecular docking results indicated that compounds such as sennoside C and isoquercitrin could target serine/threonine protein kinases(AKT1) and mitogen-activated protein kinase 3(MAPK3), thereby affecting MAPK and calcium signaling pathways to promote defecation. Animal experiments demonstrated that both M. oleifera leaves and Rhei Radix et Rhizoma increased the number of fecal pellets and water content in constipated mice, improved small intestine motility, colon mucosal thickness, and muscle layer thickness, upregulated the gene expression levels of AKT1 and MAPK3 in the colon, and downregulated the expression of AQP3 protein. These findings suggest that M. oleifera leaves and Rhei Radix et Rhizoma share similarities in their therapeutic efficacy and mechanisms for treating constipation. Using Rhei Radix et Rhizoma as a reference can provide a better understanding of the characteristics of the "Virechana"(purgative) effect of M. oleifera leaves in TCM.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To explore the expression levels and clinical significance of helper T cell 1/helper T cell 2 (Th1/Th2) cytokine and interleukin-6 (IL-6) in patients with acute leukemia (AL) complicated by infection.@*METHODS@#68 patients with AL complicated by infection admitted to Wuhan Fifth Hospital from May 2017 to January 2020 were enrolled as study group, 50 AL patients without infection were enrolled as AL group, and 30 healthy volunteers checked in physical examination center were enrolled as healthy control group. The levels of serum tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-6 (IL-6) and interleukin-10 (IL-10), and peripheral blood Th1/Th2 cells subsets were measured and compared among the three groups. The serum IL-6, IL-10, TNF-α and Th1/Th2 were compared between the patients with mild to moderate infection (n=52) and septic shock (n=16). The relationship between IL-6, IL-10, TNF-α, Th1/Th2 and AL infection was analyzed.@*RESULTS@#The levels of IL-6, IL-10 , TNF-α, and the proportion of Th2 of the patients in study group and AL group were significantly higher than those in healthy control group (P<0.001), while the proportion of Th1 and Th1/Th2 were significantly lower than those in healthy control group (P<0.001). The levels of IL-6, IL-10 and TNF-α, and the proportion of Th2 the patients in study group were significantly higher than those in AL group (P<0.001), while the proportion of Th1 and Th1/Th2 were significantly lower than those in AL group (P<0.001). The serum IL-6, IL-10 and TNF-α level of the patients in septic shock group were significantly higher than those in mild-to-moderate infection group (P<0.001), while Th1/Th2 was lower than those in mild-to-moderate infection group (P<0.001). The results of ROC curve analysis showed that the area under the ROC curve (AUC) values of IL-6, IL-10, TNF-α and Th1/Th2 alone for the diagnosis of septic shock were 0.779, 0.761, 0.724 and 0.718, which were lower than that their combination (0.910) (P<0.05).@*CONCLUSION@#The levels of serum IL-6, IL-10 and TNF-α are high in patients with AL complicated infection and septic shock, while Th1/Th2 cell subsets is low. The combined detection of serum IL-6, IL-10, TNF-α and Th1/Th2 is a good diagnostic value for predicting the occurrence of severe septic shock.

ABSTRACT

Pain is an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with, or resembling that associated with, actual or potential tissue damage. The processing of pain involves complicated modulation at the levels of the periphery, spinal cord, and brain. The pathogenesis of chronic pain is still not fully understood, which makes the clinical treatment challenging. Optogenetics, which combines optical and genetic technologies, can precisely intervene in the activity of specific groups of neurons and elements of the related circuits. Taking advantage of optogenetics, researchers have achieved a body of new findings that shed light on the cellular and circuit mechanisms of pain transmission, pain modulation, and chronic pain both in the periphery and the central nervous system. In this review, we summarize recent findings in pain research using optogenetic approaches and discuss their significance in understanding the pathogenesis of chronic pain.

ABSTRACT

Hyaluronic acid is widely used in biomaterials, cosmetics, clinical medicine and other fields due to its good biocompatibility, degradability, hydrophilicity, tumor targeting, viscosity and other characteristics. Pharmacodynamic activities of natural small molecular products which derived from traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) are significant, but their low solubility and poor targeting limit the clinical application. Based on supramolecular properties of hyaluronic acid, in this review, numerous studies were reviewed on the improvement of solubility, bioavailability, targeting and suitable dosage forms of small molecular compounds in TCM by domestic and foreign scholars using hyaluronic acid as carrier. It provides new ideas and inspirations for exploring the potential application value of small molecule compounds in TCM and even for the research and development of new drugs.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To systematically study the chemical components of Qianyang Yuyin granules and explore its main pharmacodynamic substances and mechanism in the prevention and treatment of hypertensive renal damage. Method:Liquid chromatography coupled with quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (LC/Q-TOF-MS) was employed to comprehensively analyze the chemical components of Qianyang Yuyin granules. Agilent Poroshell 120 SB-C<sub>18</sub> column (3.0 mm×100 mm, 2.7 μm) was used, flow rate was 0.4 mL·min<sup>-1</sup>, electrospray ionization (ESI) was applied and operated in positive and negative ion modes, the acquisition range was <italic>m</italic>/<italic>z</italic> 25-1 000. Mobile phase in positive ion mode consisted of water+10 mmol·L<sup>-1</sup> ammonium formate+0.125% formic acid+0.1% methanol (A)-[acetonitrile-water (9∶1)+10 mmol·L<sup>-1</sup> ammonium formate+0.125% formic acid] (B), and in negative ion mode consisted of water+10 mmol·L<sup>-1</sup> ammonium formate+0.1% methanol (A)-[acetonitrile-water (9∶1)+10 mmol·L<sup>-1</sup> ammonium formate] (B) with the gradient elution (0-3.5 min, 5%B; 3.5-4 min, 5%-10%B; 4-9 min, 10%-25%B; 9-18 min, 25%-30%B; 18-25 min, 30%-50%B; 25-27 min, 50%-90%B; 27-32 min, 90%B; 32-33 min, 90%-5%B; 33-39 min, 5%B). According to the information of the accurate mass, the multistage fragment ions, the mass spectrometric data of the standard substances and the relative reference literature, the structures of the chemical components in Qianyang Yuyin granules were identified. Based on the identified components, network pharmacology study, including target prediction and functional enrichment was applied to screen out the main active substances against hypertensive renal damage, and explore the potential mechanism. Result:A total of 99 chemical components were identified, from which 43 active substances and 48 key targets were screened out. The key components contained kaempferol, quercetin, ferulic acid, luteolin, caffeic acid methyl ester, cinnamic acid, aloe-emodin, emodin, gallic acid, <italic>N</italic>-<italic>trans</italic>-feruloyltyramine, isoorientin, 8-<italic>O</italic>-feruloylharpagide, ethyl caffeate, isookanin, cyasterone, 2,3,5,4'-tetrahydroxystilbene-2-<italic>O</italic>-<italic>β</italic>-<italic>D</italic>-glucopyranoside, loganin, alisol B-23-acetate and harpagide. The key targets included vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGFA), serine/threonine protein kinase 1 (AKT1), Jun proto-oncogene (JUN), etc. Conclusion:Qianyang Yuyin granules mainly exert the effects of removing heat from the liver, tonifying the kidney and removing blood stasis via modulation of vascular endothelium, angiogenesis, inflammatory reaction, oxidative stress, immune response and so on.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To study the effect on immune indexes in children with obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) before and after resection of adenoid and/or tonsil.@*Methods@#A total of 100 children with OSAHS due to adenoid hypertrophy were enrolled in Department of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, the Second Hospital of Dalian Medical University from December 2016 to December 2018. Some cases were complicated with tonsil hypertrophy or chronic tonsillitis. 6 ml of fasting peripheral venous blood were collected from all subjects at the 1st day before surgery, 4th day, 1 month, 3 months and 6 months after surgery to detect lymphoid subsets percentage (CD3+, CD4+,CD8+, CD4/CD8, CD19, NK) and level of immunoglobulin (IgG, IgA, IgM). Grouping: group A was a total of 51 cases with adenoid hypertrophy after Adenoid plasma ablation; group B was a total of 27 cases with adenoid hypertrophy and chronic tonsillitis after plasma ablation of adenoid and tonsil; and group C was a total of 22 cases hypertrophy of adenoid and tonsil after plasma ablation of adenoid and tonsil.In the baseline data, age, gender and other variables were analyzed by anova and chi-square test, repeated measurement anova was used for intra-group and inter-group comparison of observation indicators at different time points after operation, and independent sample t-test was used for comparison between the two groups at observation points 3 months after operation.@*Results@#(1) In group A, the percentage of CD19 lymphocytes before surgery was higher than that at 4th day after surgery, and the difference was statistically significant (21.85±6.20 vs.19.18±5.91, P<0.05). The other immune indexes were not statistically different before and after surgery (P>0.05). (2) In group B, the percentage of CD19 lymphocytes, CD3+T lymphocytes, CD8+T lymphocytes and the level of IgG at 4th day after surgery were significantly different between those before surgery (all P<0.05). At the 1st month after surgery, the percentage of CD3+T lymphocytes, CD8+T lymphocytes, CD19 lymphocytes and the level of IgG were significantly different between those before surgery (all P<0.05). The other immune indexes were not statistically different before and after operation (P>0.05). (3) In group C, the percentage of CD19 lymphocytes and the CD3+T lymphocytes at 4th day after surgery were significantly different between those before surgery (all P<0.05).In the 1st month after surgery, the percentage of CD8+T lymphocytes and CD19 lymphocytes were significantly different between those before surgery (all P<0.05). The other immune indexes were not statistically different before and after operation (P>0.05). (4) Among three groups, the percentage of CD4+T lymphocytes, the levels of IgG and IgA before surgery between group A and Group B were statistically significant (all P<0.05). At 4th day after surgery, the percentage of CD4+T lymphocytes in group B and C were lower than those in group A, and the differences were statistically significant (32.22±6.14, 32.36±6.87 vs. 36.36±5.19, all P<0.05); the other immune indexes were not statistically different among each group before and after surgery (P>0.05).@*Conclusions@#Resection of adenoid has no significant effect on the immune indexes in children with OSAHS. The children with OSAHS complicated with tonsil problems have immune index disorder before surgery. Surgery has a certain effect on the immune indexes of children with OSAHS in a short period of time, and tends to normal level after one month.

Objective@#To investigate the efficacy and outcome of transcatheter patent foramen ovale (PFO) closure in patients with cryptogenic stroke (CS).@*Methods@#Sixty consecutive patients with cryptogenic stroke who undertook transcatheter PFO closure between May 2015 and September 2017 in Beijing Tiantan Hospital were enrolled in this prospective study.Transcranial Doppler (TCD) bubble test was performed and right-left shunt(RLS) was confirmed in all patients.Closure success rate,effective closure rate, complications, recurrence of ischemic stroke and new onset atrial fibrillation were evaluated.@*Results@#A total of 60 patients (42 male,age range 24-68 (47±11)years) were included in the study.PFO size (motionless state) was (1.6±0.6)mm.RLS before closure was graded and 11 patients had moderate RLS and 48 patients had large RLS (include 41 patients who experienced shower or curtain effect).Closure success rate was 100% (60/60).No severe complications were observed.At 6 months,45 patients completed TCD bubble test.Of these, 4 patients suffered from moderate to large residual and thus effective closure rate was 91%(41/45).The mean follow-up period was 2-29 (median 12) months. During the follow-up, only 1 patient experienced recurrent cerebral infarction.New onset atrial fibrillation was not detected.@*Conclusion@#Transcatheter PFO closure is effective,safe and related with a good outcome in reduction of recurrent CS for patients with PFO.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the operational techniques and feasibility of superior rectal artery preserving laparoscopic resection of sigmoid colon carcinoma.Methods From Jan 2015 to Nov 2016,85 patients with sigmoid colon carcinoma were divided into artery preserving group (27 cases) and traditional surgical group (58 cases).Results The mean operation time was (283 ± 51) min,the mean lymph node dissection was (15 ± 8) and the mean blood loss was (62 ± 17) ml in the artery preserving group.The mean operation time was (179 ±e63) min,the mean lymph node dissection was (15 ±7) and the mean blood loss was (67 ± 17) ml in the traditional surgery group.The number of resected lymph nodes and blood loss had no statistical significance between these two groups (t =0.058,P >0.05).Longer operating time were observed in the retained vascular group as compared to the traditional surgical group (t =7.530,P < 0.05).There was no anastomotic fistula in the retained vascular group,however,two anastomotic fistula cases occurred in the traditional surgical group (x2 =0.043,P > 0.05).Conclusions Preservation of superior rectal artery was safe and feasible for laparoscopic resection of sigmoid colon carcinoma.

ABSTRACT

To investigate the effects of Pogostemon cablin(patchouli) on gastrointestinal function of rats with the syndrome of damp retention in middle-jiao, and explore its therapeutic mechanism. In this study, gastrointestinal function of rats with the syndrome of damp retention in middle-jiao was evaluated by multiple assays including gastric remnant rate, small intestine propelling rate, gastric juice quantity, pepsin activity and gastrointestinal tissue morphology. ELISA was used to detect gastrointestinal hormones including MTL, GAS, VIP and cytokines including TNF-α and interleukin 10 in rat serum. Real-time fluorescent quantitative PCR technique was used to detect relative mRNA expression of AQP3, AQP4 and AQP8 in gastric and colonic tissues to explore the mechanism of P. cablin in treatment of gastrointestinal functions. The results showed that middle and high dose of P. cablin (3.24, 6.48 g•kg⁻¹) could obviously decrease the gastric remnant rate, promote gastric emptying, increase the small intestine propelling rate(P<0.05), speed up the propulsive movement of gastrointestinal tract, increase the secretion and acidity of gastric juice, increase the activity of pepsin, and improve the injury of gastrointestinal tissue. All the doses of P. cablin could increase the concentration of MTL and GAS in serum, reduce the concentration of VIP, TNF-α and IL-10 in serum, decrease the mRNA expression of AQP3 in gastric and colonic tissues, and increase the expression levels of AQP4 and AQP8 in colonic tissues. The regulatory effects were better in middle and high dose groups. In conclusion, regulation of the levels of gastrointestinal hormones, inflammatory cytokines and aquaporins may be the paths for P. cablin to maintain normal gastrointestinal function of rats with the syndrome of damp retention in middle-jiao. The results of the study laid a foundation for clarifying the treatment mechanism of aromatic damp-resolving drugs for indications including damp retention in middle-jiao and transformation failure of spleen.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the clinical application of GlideScope video laryngoscope combined with fiberoptic bronchoscope for double-lumen endobronchial tube intubation in patients with difficult glottis exposure.Methods Forty patients undergoing scheduled for thoracic surgery (24 males,1 6 females,aged 24-78 years,falling into ASA Ⅰ or Ⅱ,Mallampati classification Ⅲ or Ⅳ, were randomly divided into two groups (n=20 each):GlideScope video laryngoscope combined with fiberoptic bronchoscope group (group GF)and Macintosh laryngoscope group (group M).In group GF,GlideScope video laryngoscopy combined with fiberoptic bronchoscope was used to guide the double-lumen tube bronchial intubation and then bronchoscope was used to check the placement of the tube.In group M,the double-lumen endobronchial tube was intubated with conventional macintosh laryngoscope,and then the placement of the tube was checked by bronchoscope.The results of the Cormack and Lehane grade measuring the degree of glottic opening during laryngoscopy,the intuba-tion time consumed,one-time intubation success rate,patients manoeuvre needed to aid tracheal intu-bation and endotracheal intubation related complications within 48 hours after operation were recorded and compared between the two groups.Results Compared with group M,the Cormack and Lehane grade was significantly better (P < 0.01 ), intubation time consumed was significantly shorter [(104.3±1 1.1)s vs.(138.6 ± 33.0)s](P < 0.01 ),one-time intubation success rate was higher (90% vs.55%)(P <0.05 ),fewer patients needed manoeuvre to aid tracheal intubation (20% vs. 90%)(P < 0.01 )and postoperative complications of hoarseness and pharyngalgia within 48 hours were significantly fewer (5% vs.35%,25% vs.75%)in group GF(P <0.05 ).Conclusion Com-pared with conventional method, GlideScope video laryngoscope combined with fiberoptic bronchoscope used to guide double-lumen endobronchial tube intubation in patients with difficult glottis exposure may improve the success rate of intubation,reduce the stress response of intubation and postoperative complications of hoarseness and pharyngalgia.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE:To explore the effects and safety of dexmedetomidine combined with remifentanil on postoperative cognition and hemodynamics in patients underwent colon cancer surgery.METHODS:One hundred undergoing colon cancer sur gery in our hospital during Jun.2013-Apr.2016 were selected and divided into control group and observation group according to random number table,with 50 cases in each group.Control group was given Remifentanil hydrochloride for injection 2-4 μg/kg for anesthesia induction,with maintenance dose of 0.5-2 μg· kg/min;observation group was treated with Dexmedetomidine hydrochloride for injection 0.5 μg/kg and remifentanil 2-4 μg/kg for anesthesia induction,with maintenance dose of Dexmedetomidine hydrochloride for injection 0.4 μg·kg/h+Remifentanil hydrochloride for injection 0.5-2 μg·kg/min.MMSE score and the incidence of postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD) were observed in 2 groups 1,2,3 d after surgery,and the occurrence of ADR was record ed.RESULTS:The incidence of POCD in observation group 1,2,3 d after surgery were 16.0%,4.0%,6.0%,which was signifi cantly higher than 36.0%,12.0%,10.0% of control group,with statistical significance (P<0.05).There was no statistical significance in MMSE score between 2 groups 1,3 d after operation (P>0.05).2 d after surgery,MMSE score of observation group was significantly higher than that of control group,with statistical significance (P<0.05).There was no statistical significance in hemodynamic indexes,the incidence of ADR as blood pressure increasing,amyostasia,nausea and vomiting between 2 groups 1,2,3 d after surgery (P>0.05).CONCLUSIONS:Dexmedetomidine combined with remifentanil can significantly improve postoperative POCD in patients underwent colon cancer surgery and have little effect on hemodynamics with good safety.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the interference situation of several diseases in the detection of treponema pallidum antibody by chemiluminescence method.Methods One hundred and ten samples of 9 kinds of different infectious diseases and 200 clinical random samples were collected.Three hundreds and ten samples were simultaneously detected by using the Abbott ARCHITECT i2000 automatic chemiluminescence immunoassay analyzer and matched reagents,and the Roche E602 automatic chemiluminescence instrument and its matching reagent.The samples of inconsistent results were confirmed by the gelatin particle agglutination test (TPPA).Results There were 5 samples with inconsistent results detected by two instruments,5 samples confirmed by TPPA were negative,and 4 cases were the samples of multiple myelome.Conclusion (1)Abbott ARCHITECT i2000 and Roche E602 have a good consistency in detecting treponema pallidum antibody;(2)for the patients of multiple myeloma,the interference may exist in detecting treponema pallidum antibody by chemiluminescence method,which may cause false positive results and needs to be vigilant in our daily work.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To evaluate the protective immunity by vaccination of BALB/c mice with rLV-HA-GCN4,a recombinant lentivirus expressing the trimeric HA of swine H1N1 influenza virus. Methods:The female mice were randomly divided into rLV-HA-GCN4,rLV-HA,LV and PBS groups. Mice were primed with plasmid and boosted with lentivirus by the administration of intramuscular thigh injections at an interval of two weeks. At day 28 post-prime immunization,mice were inoculated intranasally with 100TCID50 of swine H1N1 influenza virus in a 50 μl volume. The immune levels were assessed by the T lymphocyte transformation test, flow cytometry,indirect ELISA and the indexes of spleen and lung. Results:The spleen lymphocyte transformation rate was 0. 3±0. 11 in the rLV-HA-GCN4 group at day 14 post-boost immunization, showing a statistical significance ( P<0. 01 ) compared to the PBS group. Meanwhile,rLV-HA-GCN4 could cause T lymphocyte response mainly based on the Th1-type CD4+ T cells. The IgG antibody titer reached to 1:8 000 at day 14 post-boost immunization and approximately 1:7 000 at day 14 post challenge. After challenge,the spleen and lung indexes of rLV-HA-GCN4 group were significantly lower than those of PBS group (P<0. 05). The body weight of rLV-HA-GCN4 group demonstrated a slight decrease before 3 days post challenge and then a gradual increase compared to the LV and PBS groups (P<0. 05). Conclusion:rLV-HA-GCN4 can effectively induce cellular and humoral immune response in BALB/c mice against swine H1N1 influenza virus.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To investigate the facial aging analysis of 1200 Han adult people in Dalian with iris diameter, so as to provide reference for facial rejuvenation in Han people.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>1200 facial digital photographs from the second-generation ID card of China were stratified randomly selected as the research sample, excluding facial deformity, tattooing eyebrow, tattooing lid margin, ptosis, lip grain and eyebrow deformity cases, as well as the cases whose join point of upper eyelid and lower eyelid not exposed at the nasal side. These photos were divided into six cohorts: female aged 18, 38, and 68 years old; and male aged 18, 38, and 68 years old, with 200 cases in each cohort. The individual iris diameter was divided into 20 equal parts in each photograph, with each part marked one unit as individual iris diameter ruler. Ten values were made from a horizontal plane between the medial canthus to ten points at one face ( the line between two medial canthus is used as the horizontal line, circumocular and facial soft tissue were measured with individual iris diameter ruler on the photographs), then the results were analyzed with Adobe Photoshop software.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>There are statistically significant differences in eyebrow height (36.42 ± 4.22 unit in 18 years old male group, 40.22 ± 6.90 unit in 38 years old male group, 34.83 ± 9.39 unit in 68 years old male group; 37.59 ± 6.72 unit in 18 years old female group, 41.09 ± 5.15 unit in 38 years old female group, 36.84 ± 9.45 unit in 68 years old female group), palpebral fissure height, physiognomic external canthus height, palpebral fissure width, pupil height and other items (P < 0.05).</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>(1) The brow position rises to the peak level at middle age (38 years old group), then drops down gradually with aging. (2) The physiognomic external canthus moves towards the nasal side and caudal side with aging. (3) Eyeball moves towards caudal side with aging. (4) The soft tissue around bilateral angle of mouth, nasal tip and submaxilla moves towards caudal side with aging. (5) The measurement of individual iris diameter ruler can apply to analyze the aging changes of facial soft tissue, and is more suitable for the case when facial photographs are taken at different distances.</p>

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the effect of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) on starting of wnt3 gene and klotho gene of adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) of rabbit.Methods Epididymal adipose tissue stem cells were obtained from New Zealand white rabbits,and the cells identified by morphology and inducing differentiation,and the cells were cultured to the fourth generation,PRP and PPP (platelet-poor plasma) were prepared by traditional centrifugal method from abdominal aortic of rabbit; ADSCs were cultured in culture medium containing PRP (experimental group),PPP (control group) and all medium (blank group) for each 5% for 24h,48h and 72h.Cells of each group were dissociated and total RNA extracted.Effects of the starting of wnt3 gene and klotho gene were detected by RT-PCR.Results Primary ADSCs of rabbit grew in the way of long spindle swirly.The results of oil red O and alizarin red staining of the ADSCs were positive.Expression of wnt3 gene and klotho gene in the experimental group significantly increased from the results of RT-PCR (P<0.05).Conclusions PRP can promote proliferation of the ADSCs of rabbit and increase the expression of wnt3 gene and klotho gene significantly.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the prophylactic effect of methylprednisolone combined with granisetron on postoperative nausea and vomiting.Methods Two hundred patients scheduled for lumpectomy of breast were randomly divided into four groups with 50 cases each.The patients in group M1 received a pre-anesthesia intravenous doses of methylprednisolone 25 mg,the patients in group M2 were injected methylpredsisolone 25 mg repeatedly four hours later,in group D received a pre-anesthesia doses of dexamethasone 5 mg,in group N normal saline 2 ml.All the four groups of patients received granisetron 3 mg intravenously at the end of surgery.The incidence of nausea and vomiting in the 24 hours were observed.Results The PONV incidences of group M1,M2,D,N were 36%,18%,38% and 58%.Both group M1,M2 and D significantly decreased the total inci-dence of PONV (P <0.05)in the 24 h.The incidence of PONV was significantly lower in group M2, compared with group M1 and group D respectively (P <0.05).Conclusion Methylprednisolone-gran-isetron combination is as equally effective as dexamethasone-granisetron combination for preventing PONV in lumpectomy,but repeated methylprednisolone after 4 h is more effective than dexametha-sone and single-used methylprednisolone.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To investigate the predictive value of serum CA125 in peritoneal metastasis, and to examine the association of CA125 with the prognosis.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Clinical data of 1285 gastric cancer patients admitted to the Qilu Hospital from March 2003 to September 2008 were retrospectively reviewed. The sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of serum CA125 for peritoneal metastasis were analyzed. Clinicopathological characteristics and survival were compared between patients with normal serum CA125 level(≤35 μg/L) and patients with elevated serum CA125 level(>35 μg/L).</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The specificity, sensitivity and accuracy of serum CA125 for peritoneal metastasis were 96.0%, 13.8% and 81.2%, respectively. A significantly higher incidence of peritoneal metastasis was observed in the patients with elevated serum CA125 level as compared to those with normal serum CA125 level(43.2% vs. 16.5%). CA125 was an independent predictor of peritoneal metastasis(RR=3.475, 95% CI:2.124-5.685). The 5-year overall survival rate in patients with elevated serum CA125 level was 13.5%, which was significantly lower than that of patients with normal serum CA125 level (49.8%, P<0.01). CA125 was an independent prognostic factor of gastric cancers(HR=2.049, 95%CI:1.355-2.873).</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>Serum CA125 is useful in predicting peritoneal metastasis and prognosis of gastric cancer, which should be used as a routine examination of gastric cancer patients.</p>

ABSTRACT

Objective To compare the esophageal acid and alkaline exposure characteristics of patients with cardia carcinoma after proximal gastrectomy or total gastrectomy.Method A total of 77 patients of cardia carcinoma who underwent radical resection from Sep 2007 to Sep 2011 in our hospital were retrospectively reviewed.24 hour esophageal pH monitoring were performed in all patients.Result Patients were divided into three groups:group TG had total gastrectomy (n =25),group PP had proximal gastrectomy with pyloroplasty (n =33),group NP had proximal gastrectomy (n =19).It revealed that indicators of acid reflux including the overall time length of acid episodes,> 5 min times of acid episodes,duration of longest acid episodes,time length of pH < 4.00 and the DeMeester Scores in group NP were significantly higher than in group PP(U =32,P < 0.01 ; U =35,P < 0.01 ; U =23,P < 0.01 ; U =39,P <0.01 ;U =49,P <0.01 respectively).Only alkline reflux was observed in group TG.The total times of alkaline episodes in PP group was significantly lower than in group TG(U =52,P <0.01) and group NP (U =182,P <0.01).>5 min times of alkaline episodes in group TG was larger than in group PP,and that in group PP was larger than in group NP(P <0.01).Duration of longest alkaline episodes and total period of pH >7.00 in group PP was significantly higher than in group TG(U =125,P < 0.01 ; U =143.5,P < 0.01),and that in group TG was higher than in group NP(U =23.5,P < 0.01 ; U =14,P < 0.01).Conclusions Alkaline reflux deserves more attention in evaluating esophageal reflux in patients with cardia carcinoma after resection.Pyloroplasty is not helpful to relieving esophageal acid episodes while causing severe alkaline reflux.
