ABSTRACT

@#The study developed a metabolic balance model to evaluated the cardiotoxicity of doxorubicin. The rats were divided into 3 groups, control group(saline), low dose group(8 mg/kg of cumulative doxorubicin)and high dose group(15 mg/kg of cumulative doxorubicin). Doxorubicin or saline was intraperitoneally injected and blood sample was collected at day 1, 4, 7 and 10. The concentrations of nitric oxide(NO), B-type natriuretic peptide(BNP)and the activity of glutathion peroxidase(GSH-Px), xanthine oxidase(XOD)in rat plasma were determined. A metabolic balance model based on the four biomarkers was developed to evaluate the doxorubicin cardiotoxicity in rat. Doxorubicin leaded to significant changes of multiple biomarkers, resulting in metabolic balance disruption according to the metabolic balance maps and dynamic parameters of metabolic balance disruption. Moreover, the correlation study showed a good relationship between metabolic balance disruption and ejection fraction(EF). The metabolic balance model provide a novel method to integrally evaluate the doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the effects of environmental hypothermia on hemodynamics and oxygen metabolism in unanesthetized swine model of hemorrhagic shock. Methods A total of 16 Bama pigs provided by animal experiment centre of the General Hospital of Shenyang Military Command were randomized into two groups ( n =8,each):ambient temperature (A) and hypothermia ( H ).Venous blood (30 mL/kg) was continously withdrawn over 15 minutes to establish hemorrhagic shock model.Core temperature, heart rate, mean arterial pressure, central venous pressure, cardiac output, saturation of mixed venous blood and blood gas analysis were recorded at the baseline and different hemorrhagic shock time.DO2I and VO2I,and the O2 extraction ratio (O2ER) were calculated. Results Core body temperature in group A decreased slightly after hemorrhagic shock model had established and environmental hypothermia resulted in more reduction in core body temperature. The mortality rate was significantly higher in group H (50%) than in group A (0%) (P <0.05).DO2I and VO2I decreased significantly after hemorrhage. No difference was found in hemodynamics,DO2I and VO2I between group A and group H,but the difference of pH,lactic acid and O2ER were significant between the two groups (P < 0.05 ).conclusions Environmental hypothermia aggravated the disorder of oxygen metabolism after hemorrhagic shock, which was associated with poor prognosis.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the therapeutic effects of endoscopy for palliative treatment of advanced pancreatic cancer. Methods A typical case of un-resectable advanced pancreatic cancer was reviewed, who underwent obstruction of upper gastrointestinal tract, obstructive jaundice and alimentary tract hemorrhage subsequently. The patient received multiple placement of intestinal tract stents, common bile duct stents and hemostatic treatment endoscopically. Because of the obstruction of upper gastrointestinal tract, jejunalostomy and retrograde endoscopy through the orificium fistulae were performed to place bile duct stents. Results The patient survived for 10 months with good life quality after diagnosis, obstruction of upper gastrointestinal tract, obstructive jaundice and alimentary tract hemorrhage were cured and didn't recur till death. Conclusion Therapeutic endoscopy, safe and effective, is the first choice for advanced pancreatic cancer complicated with obstruction of digestive tract (including gastrointestinal tract, bile duct and pancreatic duct).

ABSTRACT

[Objective] To explore the techniques of hand-assisted laparoscopic splenectomy plus portozygos disconnection procedure. [Methods] 18 patients with portal hypertension were operated by hand-assisted laparoscopic splenectomy plus portozygos disconnection. [Results] The operations were completed successfully. The mean operative time was 180(150~260) minutes, the mean blood loss estimated was 540(200~2 000) mL, the mean weight of spleen was 910 (500~2000) g and the mean length of hospital stay was 9.7 (8~18) days after operation. All patients had recovered rapidly and suffered less pain and only 5 patients needed analgesic. The mean recovery time of the bowel function was 52(24~74) hours. The hand incisions healed well, and only one occurred complications and another suffered death. [ Conclusions ] Hand-assisted laparoscopic splenectomy plus portozygos disconnection procedure is to be feasible and safe, and has the merits of minimally invasive surgery.

ABSTRACT

Objective To comprehand and grasp epidemical distribution characteristics of colorectal cancer cases. WT5”HZMethods Between 1975 and 1999, 1 145 cases of colorectal carcinoma who had undergone a surgery in Nanfang Hospital were retrospectively studied and a survey of clinical epidemical distribution characteristics was made. ResultsWT5”BZ ①Though more elder cases were found in recent years, young patients still made up a high proportion(19%) of the cases.②The occurrence of mucoid and signet-ring cell carcinoma in young cases was higher than that in the elders( P 0 05). KG2Conclusion The study of clinical epidemiology provided dependabal bases for prevention and therapy of colorectal carcinoma.

ABSTRACT

Objectives:To investigate the influence of PN via portal vein on insulin and glucagon in liver regeneration. Methods:The rabbits were randomly devided into control group( n =5),PN via portal vein group(group Ⅰ, n =10) and PN via central vein group(group Ⅱ, n =10).The PN was performed for 6 days after partial hepatectomy. The concentration of serum insulin and glucagon in portal and perpheral vein were analysed with radioimmunoassay. Results:The concentration of serum insulin was increased in group Ⅰ and group Ⅱ,and it was increased significantly( P 0.05),but it was increased significantly in portal vein blood in group Ⅰ( P

ABSTRACT

AIM: To study the expression of mic2/CD99 protein and their correlation with Eber-1/LMP-1 in Hodgkin and Reed-Sternberg cells of classical Hodgkin's lymphoma. METHODS: Immunohistochemical staining, in situ hybrization and tissue microarry technique were used to detect the expressions of mic2/CD99 and Eber-1/LMP-1 of H/RS cells in 43 cases of cHL and 16 cases of NHL. RESULTS: The positive rate of CD99 protein expression in 43 cases of cHL was 2.3% (1/43) , mic2 was 55.8% (24/43), LMP1 was 58.1% (25/43) and Eber-1 was 53.5% (23/43). The expressions of CD99 and mic2 in the NHL group were higher than those in cHL group (P0.05). There was a negative correlation between the expression of CD99 protein and LMP1 in H/RS cells (P0.05). There was a significant correlation between the high expression of LMP1 and a low expression of CD99 in the young patients (P0.05). CONCLUSION: There is a negative correlation between the expression of LMP1 and CD99 in Hodgkin and Reed-Sternberg cells of classical Hodgkin's lymphoma.
