ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: We present the case of a 69-year-old male suffering an acute myocardial infarction and undergoing primary PCI of a bifurcation lesion. METHODS, RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS: The use of a new technique for the management of such lesions is shown. This technique brings some advantages in comparison to traditional crush technique: it allows the use of a 6-French catheter, a provisional rather than systematic stenting strategy of the side branch and does not require re-wiring of the crushed stent; it is potentially less thrombogenous and could reduce the rate of restenosis due to the limited surface of multiple stent struts apposition and to the entire coverage of the ostium circumference. Its feasibility and long-term efficacy should be tested in series of patients and for a longer follow-up.
