ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the serum levels of thyroid function and hs-CRP expression in patients with syphilis and their relationship with coagulation function. Methods A total of 80 syphilis patients admitted to Bazhong Central Hospital from January 2020 to January 2022 were selected as the study subjects and set as the observation group. In addition, 80 healthy individuals were selected as the control group, and 80 psoriasis patients were selected as the disease control group. Thyroid function, hs-CRP and coagulation function among different groups were compared. The correlation between thyroid function, hs-CRP, and coagulation function in patients with syphilis was analyzed, and the effectiveness of these parameters in predicting syphilis was analyzed. Results The values of FT3, FT4, TSH and hs-CRP in the observation group were higher than those in the control group and the disease control group (P<0.05). The abnormal rates of thyroid function and hs-CRP level in the observation group were higher than those in the control group and the disease control group (P<0.05). PT, APTT, and TT of the observation group were higher than those of the control group and the disease control group (P<0.05). The abnormal rate of coagulation function in the observation group was higher than that in the control group and the disease control group (P<0.05). The levels of FT3, FT4, TSH, hs-CRP, PT, APTT, and TT in the first stage were lower than those in the second and third stages, while these parameters in the secondary stage were lower than those in the third stage (P<0.05). The severity of syphilis was positively correlated with FT3, FT4, hs-CRP, APTT, and TT (P<0.05). Among these indicators, TT was more effective in the diagnosis of syphilis. Conclusion Syphilis patients have hyperthyroidism, accompanied by coagulation dysfunction and abnormal increase in hs-CRP, which are all related to the condition of syphilis patients. The combined prediction of syphilis patients has high effectiveness.

ABSTRACT

Medicine is the subject of studying human and its inherent humanistic attribute endows medicine with the temperature it deserves. However, with the continuous improvement of medical testing technology and treatment technology, medical workers pay more attention to diseases and ignore humanistic care, which has become an important factor in the aggravation of patients’ burden and the tension relationship between doctors and patients. There are many virtues in Chinese traditional culture. Sun Simiao’s medical ethics thought of "great doctor with professionalism and sincerity" embodies the core value of the humanistic spirit of Chinese traditional medicine. In his medical ethics thought, the moral and ethics of "great doctor with professionalism and sincerity", the medical practice attitude of "being cautious and diligent", the values of "benevolence for the world" and the professional conduct of "honesty and truth" still have strong practical significance at present. It is the good material to cultivate the humanistic spirit of medical students. This is of great value to integrate Sun Simiao’s medical ethics thought into cultivate medical students with both "professionalism" and "sincerity", practice the original intention of medical and health undertakings, and carry forward cultural self-confidence.

ABSTRACT

Pancreatic cancer has an insidious onset and lacks effective treatment methods, which is one of the tumors with the worst prognosis, so it is urgent to explore new treatment directions. Metabolic reprogramming is one of the important hallmarks of tumors. Pancreatic cancer cells in the harsh tumor microenvironment have comprehensively increased cholesterol metabolism in order to maintain strong metabolic needs, and cancer associated fibroblasts also provide cancer cells with a large amount of lipids. Cholesterol metabolism reprogramming involves the changes in the synthesis, uptake, esterification and metabolites of cholesterol, which are closely related to the proliferation, invasion, metastasis, drug resistance, and immunosuppression of pancreatic cancer. Inhibition of cholesterol metabolism has obvious anti-tumor effect. In this paper, the important effects and complexity of cholesterol metabolism in pancreatic cancer were comprehensively reviewed from perspectives of risk factors for pancreatic cancer, energy interaction between tumor-related cells, key targets of cholesterol metabolism and its targeted drugs. Cholesterol metabolism has a strict regulation and feedback mechanism, and the effect of single-target drugs in clinical application is not clear. Therefore, multi-target therapy of cholesterol metabolism is a new direction for pancreatic cancer treatment.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To explore the genetic etiology of a Chinese pedigree affected with pseudohypoparathyroidism.@*METHODS@#Peripheral blood samples of the proband and his parents were collected and subjected to trio-whole exome sequencing (trio-WES). Candidate variants were verified among the pedigree and 50 randomly selected healthy individuals through analysis of restriction fragment length polymorphism. Short tandem repeat (STR) linkage analysis was used to verify the parental origin of the pathogenic variants.@*RESULTS@#Trio-WES and Sanger sequencing showed that the proband and his mother had both harbored a c.121C>G (p.His41Asp) variant of the GNAS gene, which was not found in other family members and the 50 healthy controls. The variant was not found in international databases. Based on guidelines from the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics, the variant was predicted to be likely pathogenic.@*CONCLUSION@#The novel c.121C>G variant of the GNAS gene probably underlay the disease in this pedigree. Above finding has enriched the spectrum of GNAS gene variants.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To study the effect of propofol used for painless gastroscopy and colonoscopy on psychomotility recovery.@*METHODS@#One hundred adult patients undergoing painless gastroscopy and colonoscopy were recruited, aged 18-72 years, with American Society of Anesthesiologist (ASA) physical status Ⅰ-Ⅱ. According to age, the patients were divided into youth group (20-39 years old, 27 cases), middle age group (40-54 years old, 37 cases), and elder group (55-64 years old, 36 cases). Propofol was continuously infused according to the patients' condition to mantain the bispectal index (BIS) score 55-64. All the patients received psychomotility assesment 30 min before the operations when the discharge criteria were met including number cancellation test, number connection test and board test. The heart rate, blood pressure, saturation of pulse oximetry, electrocardiograph and BIS were monitored during the operation. The operating time, recovery time, total volume of propofol and discharge time were recorded. If the results obtained were inferior to those before operation, a third assessment was taken 30 minutes later until the results recovered or being superior to the baseline levels.@*RESULTS@#All the patients completed the first and second assessments, and 25 patients had taken the third assessment. There was no statistically significant difference in the results of psychomotility assessment when the patients met the discharge standard. Furthermore, the results were analyzed by grouping with age, and there was no statistical difference in the test results of the youth and middle age groups compared with the preoperative group, among which, the efficiency of the number cancellation test was significantly better than that before operation in the youth group (P < 0.05). However, in the elderly patients the number cancellation efficiency, number connection test and board test were significantly inferior to that before operation (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in the accuracy of number cancellation compared with that before operation. The patients who needed the third test in the elder group were significantly more than in the other groups (P < 0.05). Compared with the preoperative results, there was no statistical difference in the test results of those who completed the third test.@*CONCLUSION@#The psychomotility function of the patients who underwent painless gastroscopy and colonoscopy was recovered when they met discharge criteria. The elderly patients had a prolonged recovery period.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To evaluate the immunogenicity and safety of revaccination of 23-valent pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine (PPV23) in elderly people aged ≥60 years. Methods: The elderly aged ≥60 years with 1 dose of PPV23 vaccination were selected as revaccination group and those without history of pneumococcal vaccine immunization were selected as the first vaccination group. One dose of PPV23 was administered to both groups, and the first blood samples were collected before vaccination while the second blood samples were collected on day 28-40 after vaccination. ELISA was used to detect the concentrations of anti-specific serotype Streptococcus pneumoniae podocyte polysaccharide immunoglobulin G, and the safety of the vaccination was evaluated after 30 days. Results: The geometric mean concentration (GMC) of antibody to 23 serotypes before the vaccination (0.73-13.73 μg/ml) was higher in revaccination group than in the first vaccination group (0.39-7.53 μg/ml), the GMC after the vaccination (1.42-31.65 μg/ml) was higher than that before the vaccination (0.73-13.73 μg/ml) in the revaccination group, and the GMC after the vaccination (1.62-43.76 μg/ml) was higher than that before the vaccination (0.39-7.53 μg/ml) in the first vaccination group; the geometric mean growth multiple in revaccination group (2.16-3.60) was lower than that in the first vaccination group (3.86-16.13); The mean 2-fold antibody growth rate was lower in revaccination group (53.68%, 95%CI: 52.30%-55.06%) than in the first vaccination group (93.16%, 95%CI: 92.18%- 94.15%), all differences were significant (P<0.001). After the vaccination, 13 serotypes of GMC were higher in the first vaccination group than in revaccination group (P<0.001), the differences were not significant for 10 serotypes of GMC (P>0.05). The incidence of local adverse reaction was 19.20% and 13.27% in revaccination group and the first vaccination group, respectively (P=0.174). Conclusions: The antibody level in ≥60 years people who received one dose of PPV23 after a 5-year interval was still higher than that in unvaccinated people. The antibody level decreased after 5 years of the first vaccination, and the antibody level could be rapidly increased by one more dose vaccination, but the overall immune response was lower than that of the first vaccination; revaccination with PPV23 has a good safety.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To investigate the efficacy and safety of colistin sulfate in the treatment of hematonosis patients infected by multidrug-resistant (MDR) gram-negative bacteria (GNB), and discuss the possible factors that affect the efficacy of colistin sulfate.@*METHODS@#The clinical data of 85 hematologic patients infected with MDR GNB in the Soochow Hopes Hematonosis Hospital from April 2022 to November 2022 were collected and divided into clinically effective group with 71 cases and ineffective group with 14 cases according to the therapeutic efficacy of colistin sulfate. The age, gender, type of hematologic disease, status of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, infection sites, type of pathogen, timing of administration, daily dose and duration of colistin sulfate, and combination with other antibacterial agents of patients in two groups were compared. Logistic regression was used to analyze on the meaningful variables to study the influencing factors of colistin sulfate. The adverse reactions of colistin sulfate were also evaluated.@*RESULTS@#There were no significant differences in age, gender, type of hematologic disease, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation status, infection sites and pathogen type between the effective group and the ineffective group (P>0.05). Compared with the medication time more than 7 days, meropenem used within 7 days in the clinical effective group, and timely replacement with colistin sulfate could obtain better efficacy, the difference was statistically significant (P=0.018). The duration of tigacycline before colistin sulfate did not affect the efficacy, and there was no significant difference in efficacy between the effective and ineffective groups. The therapeutic effect of colistin sulfate at daily dose of 500 000 U q8h was better than that of 500 000 U q12h, the difference was statistically significant (P=0.035). The time of colistin sulfate use in the clinically effective group was longer than that in the ineffective group, which had a statistical difference (P=0.003). Compared with the clinical ineffective group, the efficacy of combination regimens with colistin sulfate was better than that of colistin sulfate monotherapy, and the difference was statistically significant (P=0.013). Multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed on the indicators with statistical differences in the two groups of patients, which suggested that the use time of colistin sulfate (B: 2.358; OR: 10.573; CI: 1.567-71.361; P=0.015) and the combination of colistin sulfate (B: 1.720; OR: 5.586; CI: 1.210-25.787; P=0.028) were influential factors in the efficacy of colistin sulfate. During the treatment, the incidence of nephrotoxicity, hepatotoxicity and peripheral neurotoxicity were 5.9%, 1.2% and 1.2%, respectively.@*CONCLUSION@#The use of colistin sulfate improves the clinical efficacy of MDR GNB infections in hematological patients, and the timing of colistin sulfate administration and the combination of drugs are independent factors affecting its clinical efficacy, and the safety during treatment is high.

There were 26 patients in the experimental group, including 21 males and 5 females with an aberage age of (47.3±12.3) years old, who underwent percutaneous pedicle screw fixation combined with transpedicular autogenous bone grafting. In the control group, 14 patients received percutaneous pedicle screw fixation only. including 7 makes and 7 females with an average age of (50.2±11.2) years old. The operative time, intraoperative blood loss, anterior height ratio of injured vertebrae, Cobb angle, visual analogue score (VAS), MacNab scores, loosening or broken of the implants. were compared and analyzed.@*RESULTS@#There was no significant difference in operation time, intraoperative blood loss, VAS and anterior height ratio of injured vertebrae between the two groups. Compared with the preoperative results, VAS and anterior height ratio of injured vertebrae were improved statistically(P<0.05). For Cobb angle of injured vertebra, there was no significant difference between the two groups before surgery (P=0.766). While at 1 week, 3 months and 12 months after surgery, there were statistically differences between the two groups (P values were 0.042, 0.007 and 0.039, respectively). The Cobb angle of injured vertebrae one year after operation was statistically decreased in both groups compared with that before surgery (P<0.001). One year after surgery, the excellent and good rate of Macnab scores was 96.15% in the experimental group and 92.86% in the control group, and there was no statistical differences between the two groups (P=0.648). There was one patient in the control group suffering superficial wound infection on the third day, which was cured by dressing change and anti-infection treatment. There were no postoperative screw loosening and broken in both groups.@*CONCLUSION@#The two surgical methods have the advantages of less trauma, less pain and quicker recovery, which can restore the height of the injured vertebra, reconstruct the spinal sequence and reduce the fracture of the vertebral body. Transpedicular autogenous bone grafting can increase the stability of the fractured vertebra and maintain the height of the vertebra better after surgery, thus reducing the possibility of complications such as kyphosis, screw loosening and broken.

ABSTRACT

Electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring owns important clinical value in diagnosis, prevention and rehabilitation of cardiovascular disease (CVD). With the rapid development of Internet of Things (IoT), big data, cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI) and other advanced technologies, wearable ECG is playing an increasingly important role. With the aging process of the population, it is more and more urgent to upgrade the diagnostic mode of CVD. Using AI technology to assist the clinical analysis of long-term ECGs, and thus to improve the ability of early detection and prediction of CVD has become an important direction. Intelligent wearable ECG monitoring needs the collaboration between edge and cloud computing. Meanwhile, the clarity of medical scene is conducive for the precise implementation of wearable ECG monitoring. This paper first summarized the progress of AI-related ECG studies and the current technical orientation. Then three cases were depicted to illustrate how the AI in wearable ECG cooperate with the clinic. Finally, we demonstrated the two core issues-the reliability and worth of AI-related ECG technology and prospected the future opportunities and challenges.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the inhibitory effect of phloretin on inflammation and oxidative stress in interleukin (IL)-1β induced orbital fibroblasts (OFs) from Graves orbitopathy (GO) patients and its mechanism. Methods:The orbital fat and connective tissue from 6 eyes of 6 patients diagnosed as inactive GO who underwent orbital decompression in Henan Eye Hospital from January 2019 to December 2020 were collected.Primary OFs were isolated and passaged by explant culture and were identified by cell immunofluorescence assay.OFs were divided into control group, IL-1β induced group, and groups of various phloretin concentrations (25, 50, 75, 100 and 200 μmol/L). The viability of OFs after 24- and 48-hour treatment of the various phloretin concentrations was determined by cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8). OFs were induced by IL-1β to simulate an inflammatory environment of GO in vitro.Intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels of the normal control group, IL-1β induced group, 50 μmol/L phloretin group and 100 μmol/L phloretin group were detected by fluorescent probe (H 2DCF-DA). The concentrations of pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-6, IL-8 and monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1) in cell culture supernatant of the normal control group, IL-1β induced group and phloretin treated groups (25, 50, 75, and 100 μmol/L) were examined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The expressions of heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1), nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor (Nrf2) proteins, as well as P38, extracelluar regulated protein kinase (ERK) and c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) proteins as well as their phosphorylated proteins in the MAPK signal pathway of the normal control group, IL-1β induced group and 100 μmol/L phloretin group, were detected by Western blot. The purpose and methods of the study were explained to the patients and their family members.Written informed consent was obtained. The study protocol was approved by the Ethics Committee of Henan Provincial People's Hospital (No.HNEECKY-2020[07]). Results:For cultured OFs, the mesenchymal origin was confirmed by positive expression of vimentin and fibroblasts were identified by negative expression of desmin, S-100 and cytokeratin-18.CCK-8 showed that there was no significant difference in absorbance value after 24- and 48-hour treatment between 25 μmol/L, 50 μmol/L, 75 μmol/L and 100 μmol/L phloretin groups and control group (all at P>0.05). The ROS levels of 50 μmol/L and 100 μmol/L phloretin groups were 21.95±1.71 and 10.01±1.03, respectively, which were significantly lower than 39.27±4.01 of IL-1β induced group (both at P<0.01). ELISA showed that IL-6 concentrations in 25 μmol/L, 50 μmol/L, 75 μmol/L and 100 μmol/L phloretin groups were (4 544.25±572.98), (1 000.25±133.96), (724.25±98.63), (519.50±118.02)pg/ml, respectively, which were all significantly lower than (7 581.75±565.93)pg/ml in IL-1β induced group (all at P<0.01). IL-8 concentrations in 50 μmol/L, 75 μmol/L and 100 μmol/L phloretin groups were (3 679.50±676.76), (2 143.75±616.20), (1 174.75±284.18)pg/ml, respectively, which were all significantly lower than (8 411.00±939.67)pg/ml in IL-1β induced group (all at P<0.01). The concentrations of MCP-1 in 50 μmol/L, 75 μmol/L and 100 μmol/L phloretin groups were (3 783.25±610.24), (1 565.75±457.89), (745.75±227.01)pg/ml, respectively, which were all significantly lower than (5 533.00±602.87)pg/ml in IL-1β induced group (all at P<0.01). The relative expression levels of HO-1 and Nrf2 were significantly higher and the relative expression levels of p-P38, p-ERK, and p-JNK were significantly lower in 100 μmol/L phloretin group than IL-1β induced group (all at P<0.01). Conclusions:Phloretin reduces the oxidative stress level of IL-1β induced OFs from GO patients and inhibits the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines. The mechanism is related to the activation of Nrf2/HO-1 and the inhibition of the MAPK signal pathway.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To analyze circRNAs specifically differentially expressed in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) based on high-throughput sequencing data. Methods:Six patients with pathologically confirmed ESCC in Tangdu Hospital of Air Force Medical University from March 2018 to March 2019 were selected as the research subjects, among which 3 were stage Ⅰ ESCC and 3 were stage Ⅲ ESCC. High-throughput sequencing technology was used to analyze the difference in the expression of circRNA in cancer tissues and adjacent tissues of patients. GO enrichment analysis, KEGG enrichment analysis and Venn analysis were performed on differentially expressed genes. The circRNA-miRNA-mRNA network was constructed using Cytoscape software. The most significantly differentially expressed genes in cancer tissues were verified in cells and tissues, and the relationships between circRNAs and clinical pathological indicators of patients were analyzed. Results:A total of 553 differentially expressed circRNAs were screened in paracancerous tissues and cancer tissues of 3 stage Ⅰ ESCC patients, of which 413 were up-regulated and 140 were down-regulated in cancer tissues; A total of 425 differentially expressed circRNAs were screened in paracancerous tissues and cancer tissues of 3 stage Ⅲ ESCC patients, of which 276 were up-regulated and 149 were down-regulated in cancer tissues. GO enrichment analysis showed that the host genes of differential circRNAs in patients with stage Ⅰ ESCC were mainly enriched in cell cycle-related biological processes such as mitotic G 2/M transition. The host genes of differential circRNAs in patients with stage Ⅲ ESCC were mainly enriched in biological processes related to cell division and tumor development, such as mitotic spindle checkpoint and cell matrix adhesion. KEGG enrichment analysis showed that the differential circRNAs in cancer tissues of stage Ⅰ and stage Ⅲ ESCC patients were mainly enriched in cancer-related biological pathways such as cell adhesion. The results of Venn analysis showed that in stage Ⅰ ESCC patients and stage Ⅲ ESCC patients, 2 and 8 circRNAs that were only specifically expressed in paracancerous tissues and had significant differences were screened out respectively, and were only specifically expressed in cancer tissues with significant differences were 11 and 14 respectively. The circRNA-miRNA-mRNA network showed that the cancer tissue-related circRNA-miRNA-mRNA network in stage Ⅰ ESCC patients consisted of 7 circRNA nodes, 10 miRNA nodes and 28 mRNA nodes, and the cancer tissue-related circRNA-miRNA-mRNA network in stage Ⅲ ESCC patients consisted of 7 circRNA nodes, 9 miRNA nodes and 49 mRNA nodes. The most significantly differentially expressed hsa-circ-0060927 and hsa-circ-0109301 in cancer tissues of patients with stage Ⅰ ESCC and stage Ⅲ ESCC were selected for cytological and histological verification. The results showed that the relative expression levels of hsa-circ-0060927 in ESCC cell lines TE1, TE13, KYSE30, KYSE170, and human normal esophageal epithelial cell line HEEC were 7.82±1.96, 12.69±2.68, 12.78±2.74, 7.53±1.75, and 2.43±0.17, respectively, with a statistically significant difference ( F=4.68, P=0.004). The relative expression levels of hsa-circ-0060927 in ESCC cell lines TE1, TE13, KYSE30, and KYSE170 were higher than that in human normal esophageal epithelial cell line HEEC, with statistically significant differences ( P=0.009; P=0.003; P=0.003; P=0.007). The relative expression levels of hsa-circ-0109301 in ESCC cell lines TE1, TE13, KYSE30, KYSE170, and human normal esophageal epithelial cell line HEEC were 5.16±1.32, 6.28±1.57, 4.89±1.13, 8.92±2.12, and 22.56±4.13, respectively, with a statistically significant difference ( F=4.31, P=0.022). The relative expression levels of hsa-circ-0109301 in ESCC cell lines TE1, TE13, KYSE30, and KYSE170 were lower than that in human normal esophageal epithelial cell line HEEC, with statistically significant differences ( P=0.027; P=0.015; P=0.024; P=0.008). The expression level of hsa-circ-0060927 in cancer tissues of 13 early ESCC patients was 12.89±2.67, significantly higher than 5.73±1.18 in paracancerous tissue, and there was a statistically significant difference ( t=15.02, P<0.001) ; the expression level of hsa-circ-0109301 in cancer tissues of 19 patients with advanced ESCC was 7.78±2.17, significantly lower than 16.32±3.15 in paracancerous tissue, and there was a statistically significant difference ( t=9.73, P<0.001). The expression of hsa-circ-0109301 was related to the degree of tumor differentiation in advanced ESCC patients ( P=0.023) . Conclusion:One circRNA (hsa-circ-0060927 and hsa-circ-0109301) with the most significanty differential expression is selected in early and advanced ESCC patients respectively, in which hsa-circ-0060927 is highly expressed in ESCC cancer tissues and hsa-circ-0109301 is lowly expressed in ESCC cancer tissues, and the expression of hsa-circ-0109301 is correlated with the degree of tumor differentiation.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the real-world efficacy of osimertinib and icotinib in metastatic non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC) patients. Methods:A retrospective analysis was performed on clinical data of 151 newly-diagnosed patients with epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) -positive advanced NSCLC in Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University from March 2018 to May 2022. The patients were divided into osimertinib group ( n=53) and icotinib group ( n=98) according to treatment method. The objective response rate (ORR) , disease control rate (DCR) , progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) were compared between the two groups. The factors influencing prognosis were analyzed by using Cox regression models. Subgroup analysis was performed according to metastatic site and EGFR mutation type. Results:ORR was 56.6% (30/53) and 59.2% (58/98) for patients in the osimertinib group and icotinib group, respectively, with no statistically significant difference ( χ2=0.09, P=0.759) . DCR was 83.0% (44/53) and 91.8% (90/98) for patients in the osimertinib group and icotinib group, respectively, with no statistically significant difference ( χ2=2.68, P=0.102) . The median PFS was 11.7 months and 11.8 months for patients in the osimertinib group and icotinib group, respectively, with no statistically significant difference ( χ2=0.06, P=0.802) . The median OS was not reached for patients in both the osimertinib group and icotinib group, with no statistically significant difference ( χ2<0.01, P=0.969) . The results of multivariate analysis showed that adrenal metastases ( HR=1.89, 95% CI: 1.04-3.41, P=0.036) was an independent prognostic factor for PFS. Gender ( HR=2.22, 95% CI: 1.08-4.58, P=0.031) and adrenal metastases ( HR=4.87, 95% CI: 1.76-13.46, P=0.002) were independent prognostic factors for OS. The results of the subgroup analysis showed that in patients with pleural metastases (median PFS: 11.7 months vs. 9.3 months, median OS: not reached vs. not reached) , adrenal metastases (median PFS: 8.7 months vs. 5.6 months, median OS: 20.0 months vs. 15.3 months) , 19DEL mutations (median PFS: 14.5 months vs. 13.3 months, median OS: not reached vs. 40.7 months) , the osimertinib group tended to have better survival outcomes. Conversely, in patients with contralateral lung metastases (median PFS: 8.3 months vs. 11.2 months, median OS: not reached vs. 40.7 months) , bone metastases (median PFS: 11.7 months vs. 11.8 months, median OS: not reached vs. 34.5 months) , liver metastases (median PFS: 8.7 months vs. 9.1 months, median OS: not reached vs. 23.8 months) , brain metastases (median PFS: 11.7 months vs. 15.3 months, median OS: 22.4 months vs. 35.3 months) and 21L858R mutations (median PFS: 9.5 months vs. 10.0 months, median OS: 22.4 months vs. not reached) , the icotinib group tended to have better survival outcomes, but with no statistically significant differences (all P>0.05) . Conclusion:Both osimertinib and icotinib have good therapeutic efficacy in patients with EGFR-positive advanced NSCLC, thus can be used as first-line treatment options.
