ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo compare the effect of proprioceptive neuromuscular training methods on pain and motor ability of knee in patients with early knee osteoarthritis (KOA) . MethodsFrom November, 2022 to May, 2023, 60 early KOA patients from Beijing Bo'ai Hospital and community were randomly divided into groups A, B and C, with 20 patients in each group. Group A received proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF), group B received neuromuscular exercise (NEMEX), and group C received PNF and NEMEX, for six weeks. They were assessed with Visual Analogue Scale for pain (VAS), angle reappearance test, difference of pre-motor reaction time (VM-VL), active range of motion (AROM) of knee flexion, 10-meter walk test (10MWT), and Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS) before and after treatment. ResultsAll the indexes improved in all the groups after treatment (|t| > 2.532, P < 0.05). Among the groups, the VAS score was the least in group A, and then groups C and B; the angle reappearance error was the least in group C, and similar in groups A and B; the VM-VL was the least in groups A and C, followed by group B. ConclusionPNF, NEMEX and PNF+NEMEX can relieve the pain and improve the motor function of knee in patients with early KOA, however, PNF is the most effective on relieving pain, and PNF+NEMEX is the most effective on improving knee function.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To study the long-term morphological stability of three-dimensional (3D) printed photosensitive resin dental models under natural light and dark conditions. Methods: Eighty sets of resin dental models were made by the desktop 3D printer from one digital standard model set, and randomly divided into two groups, namely natural light group (40 sets) and dark group (40 sets). All resin models were stored in sealed bags, with 4 model sets from each group randomly collected after 1, 3, 5, 7, 14, 21, 28, 40, 60, or 90 days of storage and 3D scanned using an optical model scanner. The root-mean-square error (RMSE) was calculated to represent the mean deviation of the difference between the digital standard model and the scanned resin model. Meanwhile, three linear indexes (the width between the canines, the width between the first molars, and the arch length) of the resin dental model were measured and compared with the corresponding values of the standard model. RMSE and the linear measurements between the digital standard model and the scanned resin models were compared between the natural light group and the dark group and among models from different time points. Results: Compared with the digital standard model, the RMSE values of 96.9% (155/160) resin dental models were less than 0.1 mm within 90-day storage. Also, at the same time point, there was no significant difference in the RMSE between the natural light group and the dark group (P>0.05). 75.0% (360/480) of the absolute values of the linear differences (differences in inter-canine width, intra-molar width, and arch length between the digital standard model and the scanned resin model) were within 0.2 mm, and about 0.1% (3/480) of the linear differences were greater than 0.5 mm, and all of the linear differences were within 0.6 mm. Conclusions: 3D-printed resin dental models can be stored stably under natural light and dark conditions for a long time.

ABSTRACT

Objective The HPLC fingerprints of different varieties of Tibetan medicine"Bangjian"were investigated to compare and analyse the differences in the chemical composition of different varieties and to further classify them,so as to provide reference for their quality control and safe clinical use. Methods HPLC method was used to establish the fingerprints of the different species of"Bangjian",and UPLC-Q-TOF-MS method was used to analyse the similarities and differences of the chemical components of the mainstream species and to identify the characteristic peaks.Chemometrics methods were used for the analysis including cluster analysis(HCA),principal component analysis(PCA)and orthogonal partial least squares discriminant analysis(OPLS-DA).Results A total of 11 chromatographic peaks were identified from 93 batches of"Bangjian"samples. The HCA and PCA methods were used to classify the 93 batches into 2 categories, and then OPLS-DA was used to classify them into 3 categories in more detail, while 4 main components were selected according to the principle of VIP>1.The results of UPLC-Q-TOF-MS and chemometric showed that the Tibetan medicine"Bangjian"could be divided into iridoids with benzoyl fragments represented by Gentiana szechenyii Kanitz and monocyclic iridoids represented by Gentiana veitchiorum Hemsl.according to their chemotypes. The latter could be divided into alpine gentian group subtype and multi-branch group ornate subtype according to the content of components. The results of the chemotypic classification proved that the traditional classification of the"Bangjian"has a material basis in science but were also flawed. Conclusion The present study demonstrates that the established HPLC fingerprint can be used to classify the"Bangjian"of the complex base elements effectively, which is expected to provide an effective reference for the improvement of quality standards of"Bangjian"and clinical safety medication.

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo analyze the epidemiological and clinical characteristics of children's lower extremity amputation and amputation rehabilitation, and to explain the causes of children's amputation and the complications after amputation. MethodsFrom January, 2016 to March, 2021, 51 amputation related children were retrospectively analyzed. The correlation between the cause of amputation and complications post amputation were analyzed. ResultsTraumatic amputations accounted for 58.82%, and the main cause was traffic accidents (70%). Amputations caused by diseases accounted for 41.18%, and the main cause was congenital limb deformities (80.95%). Traumatic amputation was more likely to have stump complications than expected (P < 0.05). The possibility of stump complications after disease-specific amputation was lower than expected (P < 0.05). ConclusionTraffic trauma is the main cause of amputation in children and is characterized clinically by a high incidence of unsatisfactory stumps, mainly due to soft tissue abnormalities, and most cases require stump revision to improve the poor residuals for prosthetic restoration of ambulation. Congenital pseudarthrosis of the tibia is the main cause of disease-specific amputation, and the outcome of amputation often cannot be definitely avoided even after long-term limb preservation treatment.

ABSTRACT

Tripartite motif 5 (TRIM5) plays a significant function in autophagy and involves in immune and tumor processes. While the function of TRIM5 remains poorly understood in glioma. We purpose to evaluate the possible prognostic role of TRIM5 in glioma via bioinformatics analyses. The database clinical samples of glioma in this study included low grade glioma (LGG) and glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). TRIM5 expression in glioma tissues were explored in Oncomine, GEPIA and The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) databases. Survival analysis and the multivariate Cox regression analysis of TRIM5 based on TCGA were used to evaluate the prognostic role of TRIM5. The protein networks of TRIM5 was detected by STRING database. KEGG enrichment analyses were performed to predict the potential molecular pathways of TRIM5 in glioma. In addition, immune infiltration analysis was conducted by CIBERSORT and TIMER databases. We found that TRIM5 was strongly increased in glioma samples compared with normal samples in Oncomine, GEPIA and TCGA databases. Higher TRIM5 was significantly contributed to worse overall survival (OS) in LGG+GBM patients and LGG patients, while was no correlated with OS of GBM patients. Interaction networks analysis identified that IRF3, IRF7, OAS1, OAS2, OAS3, OASL, GBP1, PML, BTBD1 and BTBD2 proteins were contacted with TRIM5. Moreover, KEGG revealed that apoptosis and cancer- and immune-related pathways were enriched with elevated TRIM5. Specifically, TRIM5 could influence the immune infiltration levels, such as activated NK cells, monocytes, activated mast cells and macrophages in glioma. In conclusion, our data indicated that TRIM5 was upregulated in glioma tissues and associated with poor prognosis and immune infiltration. TRIM5 may be acted as a biomarker in prognosis and immunotherapy guidance of glioma.

ABSTRACT

Zha-xun is widely used in Tibetan medicine and is also an international traditional medicine. This study believes that the black organic matter constituting Zha-xun is mainly stored in the rocks. The exudation points of Zha-xun mostly distribute on the cliffs of high mountains, which makes it difficult to evaluate its resource distribution and storage area. This paper was aimed at the exudation environment of Tibetan medicine Zha-xun in Sichuan province and 6 ecological environmental factors of the Zha-xun were determined via the field investigation. Combining with these 6 factors as well as the GIS data of Sichuan province, ArcGIS software was used to extract ideal environmental factors which are suitable for exudation of Zha-xun, including geology types, geomorphological types, altitude, slope, vegetation types, and mean annual temperature. The spatial overlay analyses on the extracted environmental factors were carried out to predict the distribution area of Zha-xun in Sichuan province. Afterwards, field investigation was conducted to verify the prediction. The prediction showed that the exudation spots of Zha-xun in Sichuan province mainly located in 29 counties including 12 in Aba Prefecture, 15 in Ganzi Prefecture, and Muli County and Dechang County in Liangshan Prefecture. The deposit areas of Zha-xun were located in the Triassic, Devonian and Silurian strata and were basically distributed in 9 basins, including Dingqu River, Yalong River, Xianshui River, Dadu River, Suomo River, Minjiang River and Baishui River, characterized by a fragmented patch-like distribution along the mountain ranges, and the exudation spots of Zha-xun were mainly scattered among the rain-free cliffs' concavities of river valleys at a certain altitude. The prediction was consistent with the field investigation results, which suggested that it is possible and feasible to predict distribution of Zha-xun resources based on GIS-analysis. The study may provide a scientific basis for comprehensive investigations into Zha-xun's distribution and formation mechanism, thus promoting rational development and utilization of Zha-xun resources.

ABSTRACT

The growth parameters, clonal propagation parameters and sexual reproduction parameters of Acanthopanax giraldii population were systematically investigated and analyzed by means of population ecology in this study. The correlation among the above mentioned parameters and the correlation among canopy density, topography and soil fertility factors were analyzed. It is clear that there was a significant correlation among the clonal ramets, the fruit production capacity of the cluster and the new shoot production capacity of the A. giraldii. Sexual reproduction and clonal reproduction played an important role in the continuation of the population. Illumination was the key ecological factor that determined growth type. The increase in canopy density changed the population from " group clonal growth" to " guerrilla clonal growth",and the higher stand closure degree and low-strength herb layer competition was a necessary condition for seed germination and colonization. Under the background of natural forest protection and sustainable development of resources, the reproductive characteristics of wild A. giraldii resulted in the decrease of its recoverable quantity.

ABSTRACT

The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effects of dexmedetomidine (DEX) on neuropathic pain in the chronic compression of dorsal root ganglion (CCD) rat model and the underlying mechanism. Pain behavioral tests were applied to observe the effects of DEX on mechanical allodynia in Sprague Dawley (SD) rats. Whole cell patch clamp was used to observe the influence of DEX on excitability and hyperpolarization-activated inward current (I) of C- and A-type dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons. The results showed that mechanical allodynia of CCD rats was significantly inhibited by DEX (P < 0.05). In C- and A-type DRG neurons from the CCD rats, DEX significantly increased rheobase and after hyperpolarizing potential, as well as decreased I current density. These results suggest that DEX could attenuate the neuropathic pain in the CCD rats, and the mechanism might be related to the depressed I current density and excitability of C- and A-type DRG neurons.

The cultivated A. giraldii in Maoxian was used as the research object, set up different shading treatment groups, analyzed photosynthesis, physiology, submicroscopic structure to explore the response mechanism of A. giraldii to different light intensity. Light was the main influencing factor to photosynthetic rate.During morning and afternoon periods, the Pn of the CK group reduced by stomatal limitation and non stomatal limitation factors respectively. While during 14:30-18:30 period, the Pn of A₁ and A₂ groups reduced by non stomatal limitation factors.LSP, LCP and Rd of A₁ and A₂ groups were significantly lower than those of CK group; The content of SS and SP of A₁ and A₂ groups were lower than those of CK group. The content of Pro of CK group were significantly higher than those of group A₂.The activities of SOD and POD of them was higher than that of CK group,CAT activity of A₁ and POD activity of A₂ were relatively higher In their respective free radical scavenging system. Starch grain increased and base grana declined in the chloropalst of those group CK. The study results indicated that response mechanism of different shading conditions of A. giraldii under field cultivation conditions. Its could effectively adapt to environmental changes of the home cultivation, which provided a reference for ensuring yield and quality.

ABSTRACT

"Bangjian" were traditional Tibetan medicine-flowers from Gentianaceae, which were widely used and had a long medicinal history for the function of detoxifying, curing heat symptoms and treating the laryngitis. The Tibetan compound preparation endowed SFDA approval number always used Bangjian aas the main raw materials for relieving cough, asthma and treating respiratory diseases such as acute and chronic bronchitis. Its commodity medicinal materials were also sold in Qinghai, Sichuan, Tibet and other local medicinal materials market and local specialty marke. However, when recorded by literatures of Tibetan medicine, Bangjian were often classified into white, blue and black or white, blue and variegated according to color of flowers, leading to disordered varieties. In this paper, different Bangjian including their original plants and the main application varieties were studied and authenticated by textual research, wild specimen collection, investigation and collection of samples from Tibetan hospitals,Tibetan pharmaceutical factories and medical material markets. Results showed that Bangjian-including blue, black and variegated flowers were originated from 14 species and 3 varietas according to literatures, and the main application varieties mainly come from Ser. Ornatae of Sect. Monopodiae, such as Gentiana veitchiorum for the most, G. sino-ornata as well as G. lawrencei var. farreri. Suggestion about establishing the quality standard of Bangjian was gived, which provided reference in reasonable use and scientific research for Bangjian, and also had practical value for its clinical use and development.
