ABSTRACT
Objetivos: analizar las características y los resultados de la vertebroplastía percutánea en el tratamiento de fracturas o lesiones vertebrales, transmitir nuestra experiencia sobre las ventajas que tiene ésta técnica y sus aplicaciones en la cirugía. Métodos: se realiza un estudio de tipo observacional y de corte transversal; en 18 pacientes; 10 fueron del sexo femenino, de las cuales 8 fueron por fracturas osteoporóticas, y 2 por traumatismos; y 8 pacientes del sexo masculino de los que 6 fueron por traumatismo, y sólo dos consecuencia de osteoporosis. Resultados: acorde al estudio y el seguimiento de los casos se obtuvo que la técnica de vertebroplastía con hidroxiapatita favorece en la evolución y el tratamiento de los pacientes con fractura vertebral, disminuyendo su sintomatología y garantizando la estabilidad del paciente. Conclusiones: la técnica de vertebroplastía con hidroxiapatita es un aporte importante para los casos de fractura vertebrales en los cuales tienen indicación por resolverse rápidamente, la hidroxiapatita es un fosfato natural del tejido óseo lo que garantiza en muchos casos la reformación ósea facilitando la evolución del paciente.
Objectives: analyze the characteristics and outcomes of percutaneous vertebroplasty in the treatment of fractures or spinal injuries, transmit our experience of the advantages of this technique and its applications in surgery. Methods: we performed a study of observa-tional and cross-sectional, in 18 patients, 10 were female, of which 8 were for osteoporotic fractures, trauma and 2, and 8 male patients of which 6 were for trauma, and only two consequence of osteoporosis. Results: according to the study and monitoring of the cases it was found that the technique of vertebroplasty with hydroxyapatite promotes the development and treatment of patients with vertebral fracture, reducing their symptoms and ensuring the stability of the patient. Conclusions: the technique of vertebroplasty with hydroxyapatite is an important contribution to vertebral fracture cases in which they quickly resolved indication, hydroxyapatite is a natural phosphate bone tissue which ensures in many cases bone reformation facilitating patient outcomes.
