ABSTRACT

Cut and skin have many similarities that all colonized with a large number of mierobiota.Among them, gut mierobiota has an important impact on health.Gut microbiota disturbance may trigger an inflammatory response .which in turn leads to tis¬sue damage or autoimmune reactions.A large number of studies have shown that gut microbiota is closely related to skin health and the theory of gut-skin axis has also been proposed. This arti¬ cle explores the effect of gut microbiota on three common inflam¬matory skin diseases, including psoriasis, atopic dermatitis and acne vulgaris. The important role of gut microbiota in the treat¬ment of inflammatory skin diseases is also reviewed.

ABSTRACT

Glioblastoma is the most common intracranial primary malignant tumor, which leads to the poor quality of life of patients and has a high recurrence rate. Chemotherapy is a vital part in the treatment of this disease. Tetrandrine(Tet) is an active ingredient extracted from the root of the Chinese medicinal plant Stephania tetrandra, which has been proved with a wide range of pharmacological effects including anti-tumor. However, there are few studies regarding the effect of Tet on glioma. In this study, MTT and BrdU assays were employed to detect the effect of Tet on the proliferation of LN229 glioblastoma cells; flow cytometry was used to analyze the cycle distribution and apoptosis; plate cloning assay and soft agar colony formation assay were performed to study the colony formation ability of LN229 cells exposed to Tet; scratch assay and Transwell assay were conducted to detect the ability of migration and invasion; Western blot was adopted to the exploration of the molecular mechanism. The MTT and BrdU assays showed that Tet inhibited the proliferation of LN229 cells in a time-and dose-dependent manner. The plate cloning assay and soft agar colony formation assay showed that Tet weakened the colony formation of LN229 cells in vitro; cytometry assay showed that Tet blocked cells in the G_1 phase and promoted cell apoptosis; scratch and Transwell assays proved that Tet inhibited the migration and invasion of LN229 cells; Western blot results showed that Tet down-regulated the expression levels of CDK2, CDK6, cyclin D1, cyclin E1, snail, slug, vimentin, and N-cadherin, while up-regulated the level of E-cadherin. The results indicate that Tet has a certain inhibitory effect on the proliferation, migration, and invasion of LN229 glioblastoma cells, and such effect may be related to the participation of Tet in the regulation of c-Myc/p27 axis and snail signaling pathway.

ABSTRACT

Nine compounds were isolated from 95% ethanol extract of the roots of Tagates erecta by silica gel column chromatography and Sephadex LH-20 chromatography. Their structures were identified by spectroscopic data as 5-hydroxymethylfurfuryl methyl succinate (1), 5,7,3'-trihydroxyl-3,6,4'-trimethoxylflavone (2), syringic acid (3), 5,7,4'-trihydroxyl-3,6-trimethoxylflavone (4), patuletin-4'-methoxyl-7-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (5), patulitrin (6), 5,3'-dihydroxyl-3,6,4'-trimethoxylflavone-7-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (7), (2,2'-biththiophen)-5-ol (8), and 3-hydroxyl-4-methoxyl benzoic acid (9). Among them, compound 1 is a new disubstituted succinate and compound 8 was isolated from a natural resource for the first time. Compounds 2, 4, 5 and 9 were isolated from this genus for the first time. By measuring the biological activity and virulence of different compounds against soybean cyst nematode, it has found that compounds 1-8 exhibited a toxic effect on soybean cyst nematode, and ED50 values indicate that compounds 3 and 7 are the most potent, with ED50 values of 0.008 μg·mL-1.

ABSTRACT

Objective To analyze the risk factors of death in patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage induced by ruptured cerebral aneurysms and provide some therapeutic strategies. Methods A retrospective analysis of the clinical data and causes of death in 24 patients died from subarachnoid hemorrhage induced by ruptured cerebral aneurysms from January 2003 to December 2010 was performed. Results Eleven patients died from intra-cerebral re-bleeding: 5 patients had re-bleeding before the interventional embolization,3 had bleeding during the surgery, and 3 had re-bleeding after the surgery. Eight patients died from vasospasm or cerebral infarction after the surgery, including 3 with cerebral infarction under early-stage CT (within 3 d of surgery) and 5 with vasospasm or cerebral infarction under late-stage CT (3 d after the surgery); 1 died from respiratory arrest after the operation; 3 died from pulmonary infection; and 1 died from renal failure. Conclusion Re-bleeding,vasospasm/cerebral infarction and Non- neurological complications are the major causes of death in patients died from aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage induced by ruptured cerebral aneurysms.Increase the awareness of causes of death will help reduce the mortality.
