ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND:At present, most of the experiments on the treatment of skin wound by mesenchymal stem cells have been performed in rats, mice and rabbits, while the research on skin wound treatment by canine bone marrow mesenchymal stem calls is less reported.OBJECTIVE:To observe the effect of canine bone marrow mesenchymal stem calls on skin wound healing.METHODS:A 3 cmx3 cm wound was made on the both sides of the scapula and buttocks of the dog, with the right side as experimental group and the left side as control group. After the wound was made, allogeneic canine bone marrow mesenchymal stem calls suspension was injected subcutaneously around the wound in the experimental group on the 1st and 3rd days. The control group was injected subcutaneously around the wound with mesenchymal stem call culture medium on the 1st and 3rd days after the wound was made.Wound healing was observed dynamically in both groups.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:In the 1st week, there were pale yellow inflammatory substances in the wound of two groups indicating obvious inflammations.Compared with the control group, the inflammatory substances were fewer and the growth rate of the granulation tissue was faster in the experimental group. From the 2nd week until the wound healing, epithelialization on the wound became obvious following the formation of the granulation tissue, which was mainly displayed by the formation of fresh epithelial tissues from the surrounding to the wound center. The epithelialization time of the experimental group was earlier than that of the control group, and the wound area of the experimental group was smaller than that of the control group. In the 3rd week, the wound in the experimental group healed completely, and became smoother than that in the control group. The wound area of the experimental group was slightly smaller than that of the control group on the 8th and 12th days after cell transplantation, and the healing speed of the experimental group was slightly faster than that of the control group, but there was no significant difference between the two groups. Our findings indicate that the transplantation of canine bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells has the possibility or trend to promote skin wound healing.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo investigate the mortality of HIV infected clients from methadone maintenance treatment (MMT) clinics in Yili Kazakh autonomous prefecture as well as the factors associated with mortality of HIV infected clients.

METHODSA retrospective cohort study was performed. Data of 860 cases were collected from National Methadone Maintenance Treatment database, National AIDS/HIV database and antiretroviral therapy (ART) treatment database for adults. Information collected included demographic information of HIV infected clients, methadone daily treatment information, CD4 testing information, ART treatment information and death information. Recruiting began from August, 2005 through May, 2011. Cox proportional regression was used to identify factors associated with mortality. The proportional hazard assumption was assessed using Schoenfeld's residuals test. Missing values were imputed using the multiple linear regression method. R software (version 2.13.0) was used to perform data analysis.

RESULTSA total of 860 HIV positive MMT clients were analyzed. The methadone dose for study subjects was (38.2 ± 20.7) mg/d. 27.8% (239/860) of study subjects participated in ART treatment, 38.7% (333/860) had never tested for CD4 count. The age for study subjects was (32.9 ± 6.4) years old. Among all these subjects, 67.3% (579/860) were married. During the observation period, 151 deaths were observed in 2192.9 person years. The average observation time was 2.6 year for each subject. The all-cause mortality rate was 68.9‰. Cox proportion model showed that ART treatment (HR = 0.53, 95%CI: 0.32 - 0.88), baseline CD4 count at 200 - 350 cells/µl (HR = 0.35, 95%CI: 0.20 - 0.60), baseline CD4 count more than 350 cells/µl (HR = 0.16, 95%CI: 0.09 - 0.29), and marriage (HR = 0.55, 95%CI: 0.37 - 0.82) were associated with less mortality compared with control group. Age (more than 45 years old) (HR = 5.20, 95%CI: 2.60 - 10.20) and sharing needles (HR = 1.40, 95%CI: 1.02 - 2.00) were risk factors associated with death.

CONCLUSIONHigh mortality rate was observed among HIV infected clients. Methadone clinic should provide ART treatment or ART referral services.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the prognosis of patients with post-traumatic epilepsy at early time after traumatic diffuse axonal injury(DAI).Methods One hundred and eighty-seven patients with DAI,admitted to our hospital from January 2000 to June 2011,were chosen; 26 DAI patients were complicated with post-traumatic epilepsy(PTE)at early time(within 2 weeks of injury),and the other 78 DAI patients without PTE were chosen as control group.Prognosis and activity of daily living(ADL)of these patients were evaluated with Glasgow Outcome Scale (GOS) and Barthel index. Results Significant differences on prognosis and ADL were noted between patients with and without PTE(P<0.05); the prognosis of DAI patients attacked by PTE at early time was obviously worse than that of the ones who were not.DAI patients with PTE had low ADL than those patients without PTE.Conclusion Attacking by PTE at early time can obviously influence the prognosis of patients with DAI; especially for severe patients, the prognosis is obvious bad,and the mortality and disability rate increase significantly.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the new way that can improve the emergency treatment rate on patients with traumatic brain injuries in Guangdong mountain area. Methods New emergency treatment way was adopted from June 2006 to June 2008 in patients traumatic brain injuries and these patients were chosen as experimental group. Control group is composed of patients treated with old emergency treatment way from June 2004 to June 2006. The pre-hospital mortality rate, in-hospital mortality rate and CPR success rate in the 2 groups were compared; the interphase between injury and receiving treatment, and the rescuing radius in these 2 groups were analyzed. Results Control grouphad the in-hospital mortality rate and pre-hospital mortality rate reaching 29.06% (68/234) and 32.76%(114/348), respectively, which was significantly higher than the experimental group (in-hospital mortality rate: 10.49% [28/267], pre-hospital mortality rate:18.10% [59/326]) (P<0.05). The maxima rescuing radius and mean interphase between injury and receiving treatment in the experimental group (10 km, 50min) were statistically different as compared with those in the control group (70 km, 85 min) (P<0.05).CPR success rate in the experimental group (80.32%) was obviously higher man that in the control group (23.24%) (P<0.05). The death rate in the experimental group was increased following the prolonged interphase between injury and receiving treatment. Conclusion The new way, by increasing 120urgent care centre, shortening the rescuing radius and reaction time, strengthening the care technique ofthe doctors and nurses and reinforcing the equipment in the urgent care centre, can obviously increase the emergency treatment rate.

ABSTRACT

In this article, based on the analysis on the regional information system's development background and its applications, the construction of the regional medical information system through creating the electronic medical record and the medicine image data centers is proposed, for information resource sharing. And then, the system's software construction and various subsystems functions are mainly introduced. Standardization and the middleware platform are suggested as the effective way of constructing these two data centers in the present situation in our country.
