ABSTRACT

Based on the traditional theory in (), the acupuncture effects of non-acupoints on the body surface were explored. There are the effects of the non-acupoints on meridians, the effects of five tissues (local effects, resonance effects, five- effects and particular effects) and regional effects (nearby effects, structural corresponding effects, holistic effects and the special effects on the specific regions), etc. The innovative recognitions are proposed. ① Stimulating the non-acupoint sites on the body surface generates definite effects, not limited to the local nearby effects. For example, the resonance effects and five- effects are generated by stimulating five tissues. The counter-acting force presents between five tissues and five- organs. ② The regional effects are rich in content and its mechanisms on the induction, coordination and correspondence are not in reference to , meridian and collateral, but are related to the characteristics of activity of the regional body itself. ③ Acupuncture presents not only the effects of the abstract meridian-collateral and the acupoints, but also the effects of concrete five tissues and regions. Acupuncture therapeutic effects may result from the cumulative effects, especially related to the stimulation of the strength by the needle tip. ④ Regarding the differences in the effects between the meridian points and non-acupoint stimulation, the former attaches the importance on " ", which is abstract and dynamic and the later on "shape", which is concrete and static.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To observe the clinical effect of acupuncture at "experienced ten acupoints" for postprandial distress syndrome.@*METHODS@#A total of 62 patients with postprandial distress syndrome were randomly divided into an observation group (31 cases, 5 cases dropping off) and a control group (31 cases, 6 cases dropping off ). Acupuncture was applied at Baihui (GV 20), Zhongwan (CV 12), Qihai (CV 6), Tianshu (ST 25), Neiguan (PC 6), Zusanli (ST 36), Gongsun (SP 4), Danzhong (CV 17) in the observation group. In the control group, 6 non-acupoint points were intervened with shallow puncture. The treatment was given 20 min each time, once every other day, 3 times a week for a total of 4 weeks in the two groups. Symptom index of dyspepsia (SID) and Nepean dyspepsia index (NDI) scores were compared before and after treatment, and the efficacy was evaluated in the two groups.@*RESULTS@#The effective rate in the observation group was 76.9% (20/26), which was higher than 28.0% in the control group (7/25, <0.01). After treatment, the SID and NDI scores in the two groups were lower than those before treatment (<0.01, <0.05), and the SID and NDI scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (<0.01, <0.05).@*CONCLUSION@#Acupuncture at "experienced ten acupoints" can significantly reduce the symptoms of dyspepsia and improve the quality of life in patients with postprandial distress syndrome.

ABSTRACT

Objective To compare the cumulative analgesic effects of electroacupuncture at Sanyinjiao (SP6), Xuanzhong (GB39) and non-acupoint in treating primary dysmenorrhea. Method By adopting a multi-centered randomized controlled study method, 501 patients recruited from Dongzhimen Hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, China-Japan Friendship Hospital, Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Capital Medical University, First Teaching Hospital of Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Huguosi Hospital of Chinese Medicine of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine and the Outpatient of Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine were randomized into a Sanyinjiao group, a Xuanzhong group, and a non-acupoint group, 167 subjects in each group. The electroacupuncture intervention was applied when dysmenorrhea flared up and the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) ≥40 mm, with frequency at 2/100 Hz and intensity during patient’s endurance, 30 min each time, once a day, and for successive 3 d. Before the first treatment, 30 min after the first treatment, and respectively prior to the second and third treatment, VAS was used to measure the pain intensity. Meanwhile, the Retrospective Symptom Scale (RSS-COX 2) was investigated before the first treatment, right after the removal of needles for the first treatment, before the second and third treatment. Result The decrease of VAS in Sanyinjiao group was more significant than that in Xuanzhong group and non-acupoint group (MD=﹣2.92 mm, P=0.028; MD=﹣3.47 mm, P=0.009), while there was no significant difference between Xuanzhong group and non-acupoint group (MD=﹣0.56 mm, P=0.674); there were no significant differences in comparing the RSS-COX2 total score among the three groups (P=0.086). Conclusion Sanyinjiao (SP6) can produce a more significant cumulative analgesic effect for primary dysmenorrhea patient than Xuanzhong and non-acupoint, and the effects of Xuanzhong and non-acupoit are equivalent.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the clinical effect of selecting acupoints along channel and the non‐channel and non‐acu‐point for treating functional dyspepsia postprandial distress syndrome (PDS) .Methods A total of 68 cases of PDS were randomly divided into the selecting acupoint along channel group (group A) and the non‐channel and non‐acupoint group (group B) ,34 cases in each group .The group A was acupunctured at the Zusanli point and Neiguan point .At the same time according to the Deficiency and Excess pattern discrimination ,the Taichong and Neiting points were added by the acupuncture tonifying method for the Excess pattern ,while the Gongsun and Yinlingquan points were added by the acupuncture reducing method for the Deficiency pattern;in group the B ,the area at 2 cm besides the above points were acupunctured and the tonifying and reducing methods were adopted based on the Deficiency and Excess pattern discrimination .The clinical effects before and after treatment were evaluated in the two groups and the 6‐month follow‐up was conducted .Results The total effect and the NDI scores before and after treatment had sta‐tistical difference between the group A and B(P< 0 .05) .Conclusion Selecting acupoint along channel is definitely effective for treating functional dyspepsia PDS ,and is better than the non‐channel and non‐acupoint treatment .
