ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the effect of the method of warming kidney and dredging collaterals on the clinical effect and the content of urine C5b-9 in patients with idiopathic membranous nephropathy with spleen kidney yang deficiency and blood stasis. Methods A total of 60 idiopathic membranous nephropathy patients with spleen kidney yang deficiency and blood stasis type were randomly divided into the conventional western medicine treatment group (control group), Jingui-Shenqi pill and Taohong-Siwu decoction plus conventional western medicine treatment group (treatment group), 30 cases in each group. The Scr was detected by deproteinized alkaline picric acid method, and BUN was detected by rate method, and serum albumin (ALb) was detected by bromocresol green dye binding method, and 24 hours urinary protein was measured by pyrogallol red colorimetry, and the double antibody sandwich ELISA method was used for detection of urinary C5b-9. Results The Jingui-Shenqi pill combined with Taohong-Siwu decoction plus conventional western medicine treatment has obvious curative effect on patients. The total effective rate was 83.3 in the treatment group (25/30), and the control group was 60% (18/30). After treatment, the Alb (33.5 ± 7.95 g/L vs. 28.8 ± 6.10 g/L, t=2.569) in the treatment groupwas significantly higher than that in the conventional treatment group (P<0.01). While the 24 h urine protein (2.40 ± 0.92 g/24 h vs.3.60 ± 2.3 g/24 h, t=2.653), the contents of C5b-9 in urine(42.5 ± 17.50 ng/mg vs.71 ± 25.2 ng/mg, t=5.088) in the treatment group were significantly lower than those in the conventional treatment group (P<0.01). Conclusions The method of warming kidney and dredging collaterals can improve the clinical symptoms, improve serum albumin level, reduce the 24 hour urine protein and urinary C5b-9 content of idiopathic membranous nephropathy of spleen and kidney yang deficiency and blood stasis type.

ABSTRACT

Objective To analyze the effect of Taohong-Siwu decoction combined with percutaneous vertebroplasty on elderly patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures. Methods A total of 60 elderly patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures, from March 2015 to March 2017, were randomly divided into two groups(30 patients in each group). The patients in the control group were treated with percutaneous vertebroplasty, and the patinets in the study group received Taohong-Siwu decoction combined with percutaneous vertebroplasty. Before treatment and at 4 weeks after treatment, the ODI scores, VAS scores were recorded, and the inflammatory reaction (TNF-α, IL-6) and bone metabolism (ALP, BGP) were compared between two groups. Results The scores of ODI (21.1 ± 1.7 vs. 22.5 ± 1.9, t=3.111) and VAS scores (1.2 ± 0.7 vs. 1.6 ± 0.8, t=2.101) in the study group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). The TNF-α (367.67 ± 87.11 vs. 415.93 ± 72.62 ng/L, t=2.331) and IL-6 (71.47 ± 16.83 vs. 81.43 ± 17.24 mg/L, t=2.266) in the study group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). The ALP (70.27 ± 7.96 vs. 65.77 ± 8.45 U/L, t=2.123) and BGP (10.29 ± 2.37 vs. 9.01 ± 2.23 g/L, t=2.127) in the study group weresignidicantly higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusions The Taohong-Siwu decoction could relieve the pain, improve the function of daily life, relieve the inflammatory reaction and increase the level of ALP and BGP in the elderly patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the clinical curative effect of theTaohong-Siwu decoction combined with manipulation in the treatment of the acute phase of lumbar disc herniation (LDH) and its effect on serum inflammatory factors. Methods According to the random number table method, 102 patients with the acute phase of LDH were divided into control group and research group from May 2014 to September 2016, 51 cases in each group. Patients in control group were treated by traction and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug for a month, while patients in research group were treated by manipulation combined withTaohong-Siwu decoction for a month. After treatment, the overall efficacy was observed. The Visual analogous scale (VAS) and JOA scores were recorded before and after the treatment. The IL-1β, IL-6 and TNF-α levels of inflammatory factors were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Results The total effective rate of patients in research roup was significantly higher than that of the control group [90.20% (46/51)vs. 43.14% (22/51),χ2=19.329, P=0.006]. After treatment, the VAS scores of patients in both groups were significantly decreased, and JOA score increased markedly, which the differences were statistically significant (Ps<0.05). After treatment, the VAS score of research group was significantly lower than the control group (4.26 ± 0.56vs. 5.13 ± 0.87;t=4.843, P=0.027), and JOA score was significantly higher than the control group (18.42 ± 3.92vs.17.33 ± 4.21;t=5.127, P=0.022). After treatment, the IL-1β, IL-6 and TNF-α levels of of patients in the research group were significantly lower than those of the control group (0.57 ± 0.11μg/Lvs. 0.90 ± 0.13μg/L, 112.26 ± 15.17μg/Lvs. 130.38 ± 18.29μg/L, 2.01 ± 0.34μg/Lvs. 2.37 ± 0.51μg/L;t=5.429, 6.317, 5.011,P<0.05). ConclusionsThe Taohong-Siwu decoction combined with manipulation on treatment of the acute phase of LDH was effective. The combined therapy can improve the VAS score and JOA score, and reduce the levels of inflammatory cytokines.

ABSTRACT

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disorder primarily occurred in small joints. Our previous studies suggested that sufficient lymphatic drainage was favorable for the recovery of RA.This study aimed at exploring the effect of Er Chen combined with Tao Hong Si Wu Tang (ECSWT) on RA in TNF transgenic (TNF-Tg) mice.Ten-week old TNF-Tg mice and WT littermates were detected with indocyanine green-nearinfrared (ICG-NIR) lymphatic imaging system before and after accepting the 12-week intragastric administration of ECSWT.All ankle joints were assessed by micro-CT scanning.According to three dimensional images of Micro-CT,it was found that the ankle joints in the TNF-Tg group were much eroded compared with the control group. The bone mass and structure were protected after the treatment of ECSWT.ICG-NIR results showed that lymphatic clearance rate of the TNF-Tg group decreased compared with those of the control group. In comparison with the TNF-Tg group,ECSWT promoted the repair of lymphatic function.Compared with the control group, the pulse value of the TNF-Tg group declined;while this condition could be rescued by ERSWT.In conclusion,ECSWT mitigated bone erosion of astragalus bone area in TNF-Tg mice in contrast to the saline mice, while promoted the pulse value and clearance of lymphatic vessels afferent from footpad to popliteal lymph node, implying that ECSWT was a promising agent for treating RA through its promoting lymphatic drainage function effects.
