Exploring vulvo-vaginal candidiasis infection by using spit-test among nurses

ABSTRACT

Candida albicans is a widespread organism with world wide distribution. It is normally found in small amounts in the vagina, the mouth, the digestive tract and on the skin without causing disease or symptoms. The aim of the study was to Explore Vulvo-vaginal Candidiasis infection by using Spit-Test among nurses. A prospective quasi-experimental. A convenient sample, all, nurses, working in the maternity hospital, [543] in which 260 from Ain shams and 283 from Zagazig. Tools1-Structured interviewing questionnaire for assessing socio-demographic characteristics, past and present complain related to Vulvo-vaginal Candidiasis,2-Instruction teaching guide about spit test, which contain importance of spit test, time and technique. Revealed that 26.7% of nurses had Candidia founded by spit test, and all nurses did not know any information about spit test as well as they have a satisfactory level of knowledge about Vulvovaginal Candidiasis. Spit test accurate for early detection of Candida infection and further research to highlight the use of spit test was needed
