The aim of the study is to know the incidence of anemia in patients with uterine fibroids. This study is practical, prospective, case-control. The study included 67 symptomatic patients with uterine fibroids, [it means that they suffered from one or more of these problems: abnormal uterine bleeding, pressure symptoms and pain]. The results in this study's group were compared with the control group which included 100 patients who don't complain form uterine fibroids. Hemoglobin and hematocrit were evaluated in all patients to know the incidence of anemia among the study's patients in accordance with the criteria of world health organization which concern with anemia. The incidence of anemia among patients in study's group is 53.73%, while it is 26% among patients of the control group. [P 0.001]. we think that the high incidence of anemia in symptomatic patients with uterine fibroids is related to the chronic loss of blood which caused by the organic abnormal uterine bleeding, from which complain 71.64% of study's group patients, while suffered from this complaint only 6% of control group patients.
