ABSTRACT
The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the importance of myotarsoconjunctival flaps for eyelid reconstruction and extent and ease of application. The method provides results similar to or better than other techniques proposed since the turn of the century, like the time-proven rotation of large skin bands associated with mucosal and cartilagenous flaps. It also shows that coverage of large defects in the upper and lower lids is possible thanks to the pliability of tissue in association to local flaps or skin grafts. This is an excellent reconstruction method for sparing eyelid function and form, with no detrimental effects on cosmetics
