ABSTRACT
The icteric syndrome is a frequent cause of admission in our hospitals, particularly, cholestasis, a term preferred for obstructive icterus, since the existance of a mechanical obstruction is not indispensable. It may be produced by intrahepatic or extrahepatic causes. Among the first, drug toxicity is the second most common cause. A patient with intrahepatic cholestasis as an adverse effect of diethylstilbestrol, a drug that is usually used for the treatment of prostatic neoplasia, was presented.
