ABSTRACT
Aim:
To evaluate, from the perspective of doctors and nurses, the structure of Basic Health Units that assists children below the age of one year old in the municipality of Cuiabá, Brazil.Method:
This is an evaluative descriptive study, which involved the participation of 26 professionals (12 doctors and 14 nurses) who work in the basic health network. The data was collected via a questionnaire, from October to December 2010.Results:
The evaluation of professionals showed the deficiency of physical structures of the units, especially the lack of places to develop educational activities and also rooms to welcome the users, besides the lack of basic material to assist children. Conclusion:
We can consider that, in general, the service is good, but it is necessary to invest in physical structure, the further education of professionals, resoluteness and counter-reference.Key words
